4K Video/Audio Recording Test - Playing "Dango Daikazoku" on Piano - ZTE Axon 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8D6I4ghvOx4
I was extremely surprised by how good the audio recording is on this device! It takes low notes like a champ.

Wow, looks great and sounds really really clear and full! Nice piano playing there also, well done

Fantastic. A great example of what this phone can do!!! Thank you.
Might want to turn off notifications next time
do you take requests? something from final fantasy maybe?
I wonder if you can input the audio directly and not use the microphones?

Beautiful playing. Thanks for the demo! Great audio and video quality

Main reason I am getting this phone is the audio chips are in amps which usually cost near £2000 !

Video Settings

On my old HD2 the video wasn't bad but when i was in a club and took some vids the bass distortion was always there,i tried playing around with the settings but still couldn't get rid of the distortion, with the GS2 having more settings can someone recommend what settings i should set if if im looking to shoot some vids in a club playing dance music, basically i don't want heavy bass distortion i want it to be smooth and clear.
thanks
Basically, dont use your phone to record in such situations as the mic simply is not designed for such applications.
I really dont think any amount of tweaking the settings will help.
The mic is simply too small to cope with the levels it will be subjected to.
But ive seen recordings taken by other people who's phone wouldn't be half as good as the GS2 and there is no bass distortion so im thinking there has to be a way, i don't particularly want to, and cant really afford a camcorder,if you've spent this much money on a phone that is capable of 1080 recording surely eradicating bass distortion should be able to be achieved, or can anyone even recommend an app that could be capable of this.
cheers
had the same problems with recording my son's rock bank music. We tried out many things and ended up putting a little cotton with a clear film on top of the mic . After this the bass came softer and didn't swallow the rest of the music. However, my son had the better idea, we recorded the sound with an external recorder and sync the sound later onto the video. that worked perfect except it is a little work but when you have to cut your video you can easily edit the sound during the cut.
hope this helped

Yeah covering the mic to attenuate the levels is a pretty good idea.
There are a lot of variables involved as well. Ie. distance from the sound source, where you are in the building, overall freq spectrum coming from the source at the time of recording etc.....
Trial and error.....

Is there some type of app or program which can reduce bass distortion?
I haven't actually used the video yet at any gigs or clubs but i will be doing so.

[Q] Video Quality

Can someone tell me about HTC amaze video, i very impressed with amaze and probably getting one soon, but i found complain about amaze's speaker volume and their "sound effect".
I not expert myself about video stuff, can someone take a look and tell me what really going on with this 2 video i found online?
Thanks!

Those 2 sentences above is a link, have to add www" in front for it to work~
I cant add any link because i'm a new user, so this is the best i can do. Sorry for the trouble and thanks for looking~
I can't check the links since I"m at work but I have to say I'm relatively impressed with the video camera. I feel that it does over sharpen the images a bit, and that it doesn't handle back lights well.
I'll see if I can upload an MP4 straight from the phone somewhere so you can see it.
Thanks for the reply.
I not concern about the camera, i heard good review about their camera. What do you think about their sound quality during video playback?
I still cant post any link from youtube, can you do a search on youtube with "HTC Amaze 4G 1080p HD Video Sample"? The comments under the youtube clip is concerning to me. " the audio is atrocious , sounds like a 99c mic through a friggin tube telephone. " either he did a poor job on taking the video, or maybe amaze does have sensitive mic.
The device does pick up a lot of sound so in a noisy area like the youtube clip, it was pretty rough. My experience is similar, but not as bad as those videos.
Hey Spovik,
Can you try something out for me? I "think" one of the reason why amaze is able to pick up so many sound because of the extra mic, i know there is couple of them near the camera and bottom of the phone.
This is my idea: can you try video recording while covering some of the mic up, see if the sound quality improves or not?
Thanks!

If you go to settings in the camera, there should be a way to turn off stereo recording. I also feel like that's what's giving the video some crazy loud weird audio. Please if anyone could test this out and let me know how audio is in video mode. I would hate to have to buy a phone with a wonderful camera but bad audio. I will probably buy this phone once I can find out how the audio is and if it's good.
I'll check this tonight. I don't know if I can replicate 100%, but i"ll try and record either some football or a movie (something which will hopefully allow differentiationg of the stereo sound).
Here are recordings. I recorded the same clip from LotR (Dolby 5.1) I stood in the middle of the room and extracted the audio from the MP4.
It's hard to tell and sounds pretty crappy in both formats, but I think it's more of the environment and the volume I had the movie playing, but the mono seems to sound a little better than stereo without the wavering audio.
- Stereo
- Mono
need an equalizer app to process the videos and adjust according to user specs, and preview, (like audacity for amaze)

Asus Transformer Prime HD video recording with bad sound quality

Hello all,
I use the asus transformer prime to record HD video at my friend wedding, and the the sound quality is really bad.
It looks like the prime didn't normalize the sound while recording.
Does anyone notice this?
not trying to be a downer, but what kind of sound quality did you expect? You'd need an outboard sound recording device to get any sort of decent sound quality at all. a Zoom h1 may be your best bet
I recorded videos around Christmas time and it picked up sounds very well.

I am not expecting any like HD sound, but at least It should normalize the sound wave.
I recorded at the same place with my iPhone 4, and the sound is normalized so that I didn't get red zone sound. Video sounds on iPhone 4 is way better on the Prime in my experience. Please test and share your inputs
This happens to me as well. I took a video of just one person talking into the camera, and the audio playback sounded very poor. When filming again on an iPhone 4, the sound was fine. That's reasonable, though; a phone should have a decent microphone.

Is no one else disappointed with audio quality in video recordings?

Is no one else noticing how thin and bassless the audio sounds when recording a video on the GS3? I don't own one yet, but every single time i watch a video the audio results are the same.. I sure hope this is just a bug and not what to expect from the mic for video recording? If you check phone arena there's a comparison with the camera of the s3 to like 5 other phones, they all have much better sound during video recording...
You can see how all the other phones have a much bassier sounding recording, espically for voices.. I'll concede that for 'wind' noise having less bass can be helpful, i'd rather see this as an 'option' to turn on or off rather than just have 0 bass the entire time you own the phone.
I've seen it rarely mentioned here but this is a major let down to me, having FANTASTIC video quality but really lackluster audio.
yepo me too i have only just discovered by putting it on the tv via the sd card the sound is very tinny..
yep!!! the sound sucks! I was very excited recording a video of my K&N filter and OH CRAP!!!!

Sony STM10

Hey guys
Got my Z2, and loving it 85% of the time, still a few kinks id like ironed out, but hey ho! Anyway one of the biggest things I think will be an issue is the microiphone. Doesn't seem a great recording source for anything loud or bass heavy.
I have seen the STM10 that you can get and its an intriguing bit of kit! Anyone got any reviews or experience with one? Its mostly going to be used for videos of music at festivals etc and would love to know if it is up to the job.
The other thing is it seems quite cumbersome, and wondered if anyone has any alternatives? It wouldn't be ideal to have with me at a music festival really (damage and or loss after a few ciders!) so is there a smaller one thats as good that anyone knows of?
Any info would be great

Hey mate, I'm chasing an external microphone for my Z2 too. I've enquired with Sony on FB and they said they'd get back to me soon so fingers crossed. In the meantime the Edutige EIM-004 looks very promising as it has a much better response to loud noises than their EIM-001. There's some Youtube videos of it in action at concerts and the difference is HUGE.
Here's the link if you're interested http://www.edutige.net/shop/eim-004/
I'll keep you posted if I hear anything about the STM10 too!

Thats really helpful! Thank you. I will take a look at the videos when I can
If you have the noise cancelling headphones you can use them as a microphone. Just change settings to microphone in smart connect.

Yeah I believe so, however I sold my headphones that came with the phone before knowing this. Damn! Haha

I've had the chance to test that out last night.
Sound was about 100-105DB and the Bass was HEAVY!
Internal
Headphone's stereo mic
well yeah xD too loud is too loud! even headphones stereo mic can't help you there.
p.s how much would a STM10 cost ?
Just a Tipp....
Did you guys try the stereo recording feature? You need to connect the nc-headset, so the phone uses the build in mics in the earbuds. Its a big difference in comparison to internal mic.
But the iblazr one has a built-in battery, the 3.5 mm connector is use only for data transfer, probable reason is that they wanted to be cross compatible with ios and android. So with a built-in battery, I think Sony could very easily pull-off a xenon flash accessory that plugs in to either the usb or 3.5 mm port.

Cider, lol.
So how many people have the stm10 mic? I'm really keen on buying it this weekend its just a matter of seeing what people actually think. I've seen some reviews but I'm not 100% on it yet
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
I own the STM 10. The quality of recorded audio is way better
I have STM10 and used it once. I can't judge the quality as I found that the sound is more or less the same (internal mic quality is good).
I want to connect an ordinary 3.5mm external microphone to Z2, but couldn't achieve that yet. This CTIA jack is really interesting, and has 5 pins.
Any advices how to do this?
I also have the STM10 and can confirm that it is very good at recording sound. Particularly in loud environments. I was at a gabba techno night this weekend and recorded some video with the microphone attached and I was very impressed. I will post the video to give you an idea later on this evening. For the money (around £30) it is well worth purchasing and looks pretty sweet when attached as well.
Hello everybody !
As i promised, here it is a video of Beyonce and Jay-Z concert at Stade de France that i record in UHD with STM10 with my Xperia Z2.
I confirm that the quality of the mic is just great !!! I'm really happy that i bought this mic before this concert
Enjoy !
