I flashed the TMobile firmware leaving me stuck on Bootloader 4. I found a site, paid the $15 and downloaded this U firmware hoping it work. It indeed did, leaving me on PI3 U firmware. I used the modded Odin in the root thread. Flashed all the files in their appropriate slots in Odin, and as a habit did a factory wipe/reset in recovery before first boot. Running great!

I only get 3-4 hours SoT on stock API2 firmware (not rooted) which sucks. I used to be able to get 5..

Is battery life improved with this firmware? I'm flashing it right now on my S7 so I'm curious.
Just finished with flashing this firmware from ATT PH1 to U PI1.. was able to rooted.. i have no idea abt the battery life yet.. will check this later but i have plm with text messaging... i cant send but able to receive from anybody...
Sending messages works for me.
EDIT:I'm not rooted, so I'm not sure if that's your problem.

Yeah, I was about to suggest changing your APN to match AT&T's correct settings.
Did checked APN.. they are matched.. i think its SMCS is messing up somehow.. i grabbed Gosms pro app. Its working to send godd*mn texts.. i guess use this app for now until i melt this issue. Will check my dad's SMSC later.
Mine are sending fine so idk what it could be

Yes, it does. Your battery and performance won't be as bad as G930A firmware.

Hey, I'm on rogers in Canada and was having a hell of a time getting rooted 2.3.3 on my phone without unlocking the bootloader(no point in unlocking the BL for just root .... especially w/the warranty problems). I figured I'd give Working Root on 2.3.3 ! a try but had trouble finding the right firmware to downgrade to and when I tried to update OTA it kept failing after downloading and trying to install it (looked like it went all the way through the process but the phone would reboot and say "update failed").
1./ Did a clean install of the Xperia_Play_Release_Generic_UK.ftf (it's .184) with flashtool and then re-setup my apns to get 3g etc working. I downloaded the generic ftf off a thread on these forums but couldn't remember exactly which thread so I recompressed it and uploaded it to multiupload to make it a little easier to get all the needed files
2./ Rooted with Chainfire's Gingerbreak apk
3./ OTA update and it worked (before I did a clean install I was having the ota update fail, probably because I had removed a few system apps via root uninstall, I just made sure that all I did this time after the fresh install was root and then update)
Note on Gingerbreak: I've seen this exploit take 5 minutes or a few hours to grant root on devices. Be patient, if it's still hasn't worked try re-seating or swapping your memory card for a different one and try again. Also be sure you're on 2.3.2, SE patched gingerbreak in their release of 2.3.3.

1./ I don't have ota updates available in my country, will this still work for me?
Answer: Yes, this installs the global firmware to your phone, after that your phone will look for global updates rather than carrier specific updates.

step 1./ google your carriers apn settings
step 2./ enter them in settings/wireless & networks/mobile network settings/Access Point Names (make sure you set up your mms apn if you want working mms as well, info for your carrier is available on google, that's where I found mine.)
step 3./ Profit

The things not mentioned in the OP is that you need to download a file manager to install the Gingerbreak. And you need to enable the “Unknown Sources” in the apps settings to install Gingerbreak.
After it roots it will reboot and you should see a new app called Superuser in your app list.
Then get Titanium Backup to uninstall thing you don’t want or move apps fully to the SD card. If you are not in the UK the BBC player is no good to you. I think there is a thread with a list of apps you can safely remove

Not at all. You just have to re-setup your apn settings.
I'm using a Rogers Play on the UK firmware on a Bell sim card

You would have to find that out for yourself, it's in settings/about phone/Software Update/Update Now. If this says no updates available then I guess OTA updates aren't available in that region at the moment.

Willis111 is right, I performed the process here in the US today and no troubles finding the OTA update, despite the message there was no OTA before I flashed to .184 UK generic. Should work for you as well.

I didnt wipe anything or "clean" my system. I just did the downgrade. After that, i got 1 issue. I always got this message: "android.process.acore has stopped". Google said that this is an issue with synchronize the contacts, etc. But i didnt freak out I just installed GingerBreak, did the root, then the OTA, and after OTA everything was fine again. Now i have full rooted 2.3.3

My XPlay was originally purchased from Rogers. But since I've had it, I unlocked its network, flashed it with the Generic UK .184 firmware and Rooted it with GingerBreak v1.20. When I checked under "Settings\About phone\Software update\" and manually searched for an update, it was able to find it, download it and install it.

I would like to downgrade but I don't think you can do that from 4.3 right?
Found a link to one version but link was broken.
Problem is that I removed the provider lock a long time ago. But for some reason it came back when I upgraded to 4.3.
Then I bought a sim unlock code from my provider but that won't work now. Probably cause the stock rom I use now is international.
Any tips?

You need to quote the original poster not me.
Also don't go giving the post when you don't understand it.
Read up on pit files and why they are a last resort. Theres a reason its called rescue or emergency firmware. Only used when the phone is soft bricked and all else has failed.

Thanks. Yes it's Tre. But as I understand it I will brick my phone if I try to downgrade from 4.3 so I'll probably just stick to 4.3 unless you know something I don't?
Anyhow, I think I will have to have the shop fix it. I managed to find the stock rom now and reflashed it but the unlock code I got from them still don't work. So I don't see any other option, I need to have it unlocked and I allready paid for it.

Instructions:
Step 1: Put Phone In download Mode by holding down Volume Down+Home+Power Buttons.
Step 2: plug phone into computer and make sure odin shows a com symbol with the word com and a number If it doesn't then use the drivers link I provided
Step 3: load ap bl cp and Csc into odin and then click start when it loads completely.
Step 4:wait for phone to complete flashing and it will reboot to recovery do not touch it until it reaches the setup screen
And you are done.
WIFI CALLING, VOLTE AND ATT VIDEO CALL DO NOT WORK ON THIS FIRMWARE ON ATT OR SPRINT(CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG) ALSO THIS WORKS ON ALL US MODEL S7 NOT S7 EDGE

Has anyone been able to get WiFi calling or VOLTE to work on the U firmware? I haven't been on it in a while.

I have been trying to get it working as well. I wish that att would support wifi calling like T-Mobile does I only get 1-2 bars and sometimes no signal when I'm at a certain spot in my workplace and when I had the original att software on my phone I loved wifi calling, I don't particularly miss VOLTE though

Need to flash T-Mobile firmware in order for at least wifi calling to work.
after flashing this firmware.. I noticed a huge gain in performance.
and mobile hotspot works, I run cricket unlimited, and will come in handy.
I like the clean appearance and the smooth responsiveness, I used the AT&T firmware and I used PDP to disable a ****load of bloat, but nothing like this smooth.
not to mention I'm getting updates, which I'm more happy about.
this is really nice to have.

As long as you had att unlock the phone you are fine
I bought it "factory unlocked" so I'm not sure who did it. What would happen if att didn't unlock it?

I see some forums on this site that says, " G930UUEU2APEH flashes to g930a" then you have this post that says G930U firmware on SM-G930A. It seems as if one is saying to take the G930U and go to G930A and the other saying G930A and go to G930U. I thought the advantage is to go to the U and get off the A. Hi guys im having a heck of a time trying to flash U1 FW to my s9+ cause it has the stupid sprint lease lock on it so i'm trying to flash u1 to it. The U1 worked for my s8+ to remove the lock and sprint bloatware. I have a SM-G965U with build # G965USQU3ARG7 and i downloaded SM-G965U1_G965U1UES2ARF4 firmware but when i try to flash it just fails. i tired it useing prince comsy odin. tried odin 3b and odin v3.12.3 and none works they all fail. So im lost to why its not flashing the phone! any help would be appreciated.

The reason why it is failing is because you are on a high boot loader, you current on V3 while the U1 firmware that you was trying to flash is on V2.. You can only flash firmware that's on the same boot loader.
You would need to download G965U1UEU3ARG7 and flash it in order to be on the U1 firmware...

Well crap do u know where i could get G965U1UEU3ARG7 firmware i google it but has nothing but pay sites
I don't believe the ARG7 for the U1 hasn't been released yet. I'm still on ARF4, I haven't gotten any updates for ARG7 yet.
But you can get the firmware using the link below when it becomes available. It's the same one I used.

To be honest it takes as long as it takes... Though for the U1 firmware it does appear to be the last one released after the carriers.
I would imagine that before they release a firmware that covers all the carriers they want to make sure it works for the individual carriers... But that's a theory/speculation I have.

He can't because he updated his phone to the latest sprint version which uses the v3 bootloader.
The current U1 firmware uses V2 bootloader.

First time I have ever heard of a Sprint Lease Lock.. Now I am curious over what that is, so off to google searching for it.
Think I found what your talking about... I am not sure if flashing the U1 firmware will work in this case given it's an S9+ and not an S8. Hopefully it does when the appropriate U1 firmware is released.
Depending on where you got the phones from maybe try doing a return and get a refund?

He can't because he updated his phone to the latest sprint version which uses the v3 bootloader.
The current U1 firmware uses V2 bootloader.

No biggie... Just for clarification (if it helps in the future) you can only flash files with the same bootloader version as what is currently installed. You can also flash bootloader versions that are higher then what is currently installed on the device.
What you can not do is flash bootloader versions lower then what is currently installed.
Finding the bootloader version is easy once you know how. Using the firmware version indicated:
G965USQU3ARG7
The bootloader version is the number before the last 4 characters of the firmware version... In this your looking for the number before ARG7... Since the number is 3 it means this firmware uses the version 3 bootloader.

So it is out there?
When did this update become available for the G965U1?
I haven't even gotten a notification that it's available (nor does it show up when I check for software updates)..

Few days, but its behind time. Its July patch..

Ok.. Am flashing it now, will post results once I get the phone back up and running
Got it all flashed and back up and running... Just took a bit to restore everything and all my settings. Haven't seen anything amiss as of yet, sure I won't find out if there are any quirks until I let things settle for a day or two.
** Update 9/10 - So far so good, working like a charm. Even the wifi issue I had where it kept saying my internet might not be available (even though it was, and turning wifi off and back on would make it work) seems to be gone. Thanks for the link kevindevonwilliams

Sorry for my noob question, but it is just flash the full firmware or do I have to flash any combination file before do that?
I tried to flash G965UOYN3ARG7 TMB to my Sprint S9+ (firmware G965USQU3ARG7), but it didn´t switch the carrier.

My device is unlocked, but I have the same problem of lease Sprint. I did search in the web and I found this thread, I did download the files you posted, but I have already the firmware before mentioned and flash it using Patched Odin, but it didn´t work. Still having the same warning from Sprint.

To carrier switch you would need to flash the U1 firmware, then insert the carrier of your choice [not Sprint] then set up device, after download the latest U firmware which is 3SARI4 and flash it.
Do not flash the USERDATA unless it is for the carrier you switching to
Hi all bros, I have a S22+ Canadian version SM-S906W. Can I be able to flash firmware SM-S906U verizon or SM-S906U1 unbranded??? I really want to get rid of the bloatware that come along with Rogers carrier. Please shine me the way. Thank you very much. Peace all.
Edit: Just went ahead and flashed SM-S906U TMB. Everything worked well. I don't see much bloatwares on the phone now. Plus I am using ADB_AppControl 1.7.9.1 to debloat more. My phone is very fast and the battery seems last longer. Just a head up.

Could you turn off your wifi to see if you have a 5G network???? I read somewhere that said if you flashed U1 (unbranded) you will lose 5G. That's why I only flashed U over my 906W. I will try to flash U1 to see myself too. Thank you for your response

Just flashed U1 TMB last night. It still has 5G network. However, there are more bloatwares than U TMB. And I don't feel it runs smoother than U version of TMB. Just a head up, again. So I went back to U.
