LTE supported bands of different versions/markets - Moto Z Questions & Answers

Considered that some of us seem to be interested in buying a Moto Z abroad because of "arguable" Motorola politics of sale in various markets, it becomes very important to know exactly the bands really supported on different markets.
On 2G and 3G there shouldn't be any issue (all well supported for GSM versions... Verizon's Droid are of no interest for us here...).
BUT on LTE, things could be a bit more tricky... and Motorola 's sites aren't of great help.
Excluding the US Motorola.com which reports only few LTE bands supported, all the international ones report a long list BUT with an asterisk which follow to a not so clear statement like "depending on markets"...
Since in some countries this could be an issue (in Italy e.g. we use quite standard B3 & B7 LTE bands, but even less widely used B20 and, soon, the faster B38 will be adopted by H3G too...), it's important in my opinion to have complete data about different versions and markets...
It's not so easy to obtain these data, but I've found a very useful APP (requiring root...) which is able to clearly show all the supported 2G/3G/4G (and currently used too...) bands. And a lot more to be honest...
The APP is called Network Signal Guru and is available on Play Store too.
Starting the app will be immediately showed the actual connected data band. Going to "magic wand" key on top bar and selecting "Band locking" , then "LTE", will be shown all supported by phone LTE bands. They will probably be all selected and it's better to not change anything and exit with Cancel after having them written down (it's a quite technical app, so be careful with changes... ).
To exit select top right three dot menu and select Exit.
By this e.g. I've finally verified that my old good LG G2 D802 supports B1, B3, B7, B8 & B20...
Everyone who would contribute here is the welcome... please use a format like this:
- Moto Z XT1650-0x country LTE bands.... :fingers-crossed:
EDIT: Requested data are reported on bottom side of the box too... no more excuses now!

Still no contributors?
It requires no more than 5 minutes to be done on rooted phones and data could be VERY USEFULL for all international buyers...
P. S.: I'm very interested in UK, Mexican, Brazilian, US, Indian and Australian data...

Can anyone please confirm the LTE bands enabled on the Retail India version of the Moto Z Play? The Moto website lists only B2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 13, 40. Is this correct?

Is any Moto Mod included on the UK box? I had a feeling that the US Version, which includes two Moto Mods, only uses bands 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 13(700).
So, I want to know if the UK/European version (which I know it uses bands 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 17(700), 19(800), 20(800), 25(1900), 28(700), 38(2600), 40(2300), 41(2500)) includes any Moto Mod.
If not, is there a way to do a base band change on the US model to support, for example, bands 4 and 28?
Thank you!

Question about models and bands

Hello.
I have a Moto e 2015 XT1524 that works fine in Spain, but the 3G and 4G bands are different in Argentina and I want to use this device there. In Argentina the model they sell is the XT1527.
The question is if it is possible to flash a XT1527 firmware in a XT1524 model in order to use the Argentina bands or this models have differents hardwares for the radio bands?
Thank you very much

Hello!
I had a simillar problem with the XT1524. I also live in Argentina.
The XT model is international, so at a hardware level you have all the bands, but it is limited by the software.
The solution is (tranks to JasonPro11):
1. Download "4G LTE Switch" from PlayStore.
2. Run the app (does not require special permissions).
3. Go to "Set preferred network type” and choose LTE/GSM.
4. In the upper corner go to "Set Radio Band" and choose "USA Band".
5. Restart and enjoy LTE and 3G in Argentina...
I´ve also published this post in Grupo Android (spanish version).

Fernando

also for those interested, G600S/K/L/V kernel source codes are already available on their website.

Any idea if bands supported on the various versions can be edited (i.e. if radios actually support all bands but operator had them locked down)?

WCDMA 850,900,1900,2100
TD-SCDMA 1900,2000

It's so difficult to get accurate (and consistent) info, so thanks for your efforts to update the compatibility listing. For example, I read elsewhere that the 870DS supported LTE 17 and 2 but not 5. But just above, Adrift98 reports the opposite. Makes it difficult to pick up an AT&T compatible G6 with 64 GB storage. So it makes me want to skip the G6 altogether.
Band 17 is the main LTE band for AT&T, so I am sure it is compatible. At least, I hope so.

Band 12 covers band 17. That's why newer AT&T phones list band 12 instead of band 17.
I'm on AT&T (Cricket to be specific) here in Ohio, and I do not get band 17 (or any LTE for that matter) on the H870DS. Confirmed with LTE Discovery, and tested with a phone that does get LTE. I've only seen LTE briefly on the H870DS in a large town, and that was likely band 5. Lack of LTE on AT&T for the H870DS was also confirmed by another user living in California.
I've been researching 3 models. All the info I have is directly from LG's website. I really wanted to go with the H870DS to have 64GB and Dual Sim slots but it's missing LTE bands 2 and 66 which T-Mobile does use in some places. US997 is missing 66 so I'm just going to go with T-Mobile's version. Any idea why the T-Mobile version is the only one to list the bands separately as "roaming bands"? Hopefully it'll still function fine if I choose to use it elsewhere.

T-Mobile LG V30 or V30+ Dual Sim

I can't find a for sure answer about this, but dual sim is make or break for me. In interested in the current bogo T-Mobile is offering. We use the kickback feature on lines in our dual sim phones and only use the data on the free lines we have so we get $10/mo back using a dual sim phone.

T-Mobile USA sells the regular V30+, not the DS dual SIM model.
The only dual SIM LG V30/V30+ is the H930DS (which is a V30+).
No North American carrier has the dual SIM model. Even the open market LG US998 V30+ is not dual SIM.
I assumed you meant you wanted to buy the H930DS (V30+) variant to use on T-Mobile USA -- which is what those other people tried to do.

Further to what ChazzMatt said, maybe this will help explain it:
Per gsmarena:
T-mobile model:
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100
4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 12(700), 20(800), 28(700), 29(700), 40(2300), 41(2500), 66(1700/2100), 71(600)
DS models (no Band 2*, AWS Band 4*, Band 5 (usually AT&T), Band 12*, Band 66*, Band 71*):
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 (no AWS Band 4)
4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 28(700), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)
*current T-mobile Band usage not available on current DS models (though it could be just as simple as flashing the T-mobile software radio though you would need root/bootloader unlock which the DS models are purported not to have) as the DS models usually do not have Band 66 or Band 71 (these are the bands that T-mobile has expanded their LTE network with currently)

Limited LTE Bands?

Hi Guys,
I am thinking of buying the Honor 10, I currently have the galaxy s7. The only thing that concerns me is it looks like there Honor 10 is really limited to which LTE Bands it supports. I currently live in the UK So hopefully this won't be an issue on the EE Network but I do travel to USA and Mexico on holiday so would want 4G services abroad when I use my 3 Sim.
Honor 10 LTE Bands
LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 19(800), 20(800), 38(2600), 40(2300), 41(2500)
Galaxy S7 LTE Bands:
LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 13(700), 17(700), 18(800), 19(800), 20(800), 25(1900), 26(850), 28(700), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500) -
EE use four different frequency bands within the UK, which covers their entire network from 2G to 4G.
EE use:
800MHz(band 26) for 4G
1800MHz(band 3) for 2G and 4G
2100MHz(band 1) for 3G only
2600MHz(band 7) for 4G
EE have built their core 4G network on the 1800MHz spectrum, with the 800MHz helping cover rural areas and will be used to launch VoLTE(Voice over LTE), the 2600MHz is used to provide additional capacity in built up areas(mainly cities) and providing 4G+ in double speed areas.
So any LTE device with band 3 will work on EE's core 4G network, which is used in all 4G enabled areas.
Have any of you guys had issues with LTE band support? aboard and in the UK?

Its the F variant right? In his posting it states:
Chipset Exynos 9820 Octa (8 nm) - EMEA
Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855 (7 nm) - USA/LATAM, China
He did ship you the Exynos without region lock?

The SM-G975F/DS is factory unlocked but it looks like it has limited LTE bands to be used on US carriers w/o problems.
The Exynos SM-975N is the one you need to have a global range.

2G GSM: 850/900/1800/1900

you're right, it should work on AT&T, only the LTE band 30 is missing here but it'll work and that's pretty much it if someone tries to use it on other carriers, like Tmo etc...

Haven't set up yet. Just waiting for case and rooting. Don't want to start over after root and format data.
Didn't even think about eBay, thanks for the tip @cline2. Just ordered a S10e exynos from another seller for $697. Paid for the next day shipping and should have it Thurs.
Got my S10e G970F/DS, in the US today, currently working well on Mint Mobile, excited for rooting!

Where do you see the LTE Band coverage? I've clicked on that link and there's no information on LTE Bands.. might be because I'm viewing it on mobile. Are you stating that the G975 F/DS does not support band 12/66 like every eBay seller claims it does?

it's all there
https://www.techwalls.com/samsung-galaxy-s10-model-number-sm-g970-g973-g975-g977-differences/
and when you open that link you'll see 3 more links for 10e, 10 and 10+ with listed model variations/ltebands,etc...
G975F/Ds :
SM-G975F/DS (Dual-SIM Unlocked) Exynos 9820 Asia (India, Singapore)
2G GSM: 850/900/1800/1900
3G UMTS: 850/900/1700/1900/2100

Exynos 'N' has 12 , then all UK exynos models have 12 and 66 but aren't listed as F/DS but rather as "hybrid sim" F only, I guess that counts as a DS but isn't specified that way.

Damn, I'd be curious to see how this information was amassed.. either way, I'm hoping that the Exynos version that I'm getting is the UK version.. it's coming from a seller in Miami so I'm gonna say it's not lol - most likely from South East Asia.
