Screen display burn in protection is not working :( - Asus ZenWatch 2

I've a zenwatch 2
Recently I've noticed that there is a shadow on the screen, to discover then that maybe some pixels have died !!!!!!!!!
I've returned to dev. options and find the screen burn in protection disabled, enabled it and after restart returned to the dev. options and it's disabled again.
Tried to snap some photos, you can notice the circle in the middle :S

Have you tried setting "Always On Screen" to off. I disabled ambient mode to save battery, but it ends up leaving the display on for no more than a few minutes a day. That should practically eliminate burn-in.

Mine has the same problem, nothing is working, I have no idea how to fix

OLED displays are prone to this. I have an old Galaxy S2 that I used as a desk clock for a while, and it now has a clock pattern burned into it that shows up on very light screens. Note that while the underlying cause of OLED burn in is different from CRTs, the effect is similar. The pixels are permanently dimmer because they are dying faster.
The only "fix" is to display a negative image for a while until the rest of the screen "burns in" to match, which might be some trick on a smart watch (and it's not easy on a phone), so it's probably just stuck there. Also, even if you eliminate the burn-in, all you have really done is shortened the life of the remaining pixels. I'd just choose a similar face that tends to hide the issue and move on.
The only solution is to not have a static image on the screen for very long. For watches, this means letting the display turn off instead of keeping it on all the time.

Thanks all

It haven't been solved yet :crying:
I have a very tiny hope that AW 2.0 will solve it (Very tiny tint)
I keep my watch's (always on screen) off

I had to send mine in for warranty repair. This started after about four months use, without the always on screen. I just got it back, it took them about two weeks, but they replaced the screen, and it's good as new. I was hoping they'd load it with Wear 2.0 before they sent it back, but no such luck.

[Problem] - Spots on a black background at night!!

Hello everyone,
I noticed that at night when I have a black background i can see dark spots that make you notice the color is not uniform.
This defect occurs when all these conditions are verified:
- Completely dark room and eyes accustomed to the darkness for a few minutes
- Completely black screen (like the one in the test screen by typing *#0*#)
- Minimum brightness (but can be seen even at maximum brightness).
In practice, you see lots of little dots of different sizes and shapes, always black as the background, but not the rest of the uniform color (as if they were the signs of glue that is below).
During the day with light are virtually invisible, at night using it would not normally notice, but as soon as the screen remains black for a few seconds (for example when loading a video from youtube), here they are appearing and are really annoying.
I got my phone last week, I would still be time to ask to replace it, but I'm afraid it's a problem of all devices and maybe even put the risk of receiving a worse one (with dead pixels, circles on the screen, etc.).
Someone else has ever noticed these spots? If you have not noticed could you do a test under the conditions that I outlined above?
To understand whether it is a problem of all (in which case I would avoid to let me change) or just mine.
I still have 2 days to apply for replacement, thanks!!
P.S: sorry for my bad english
Same on mine, and a lot of them... not really visible that much only with blank black screen... and sincerely when do you use your phone with nothing on the display ?
Im pretty sure those are manufacturing imperfections in the amoled production process and we cant do anything about it, im pretty sure all phones have it to some extent.
Same here... I think that its bet to just get used to it, that what i did anyway..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Yes, I have the same problem too! Just got the white version of this phone. I also noticed that mine looks like there's a small fingerprint smudge underneath the glass. These don't bother me, but what really bugs me is this faint faded line that runs up and down the screen. It looks like burn-in or something. I can't see it unless I'm playing a certain video with gray backgrounds. Should I swap it out or keep it? The one I have now has no dead pixels, but I'm afraid the new one would...
Hmmm so we all have this problem, any other witness?
Yeah same thing i was thinking im only one
/problem with all oled screens
same with mine..its a flaw by samsung. unequal distribution of glue to stick the glass and capacitive layer
Same here ...
At first I was a bit worried because I also have an LG Optimus SOL E730 with amoled, and it does not suffer from this problem.
So, the only thing that comes to my mind, is that samsung did a crappy job on this phone.
One more thing: When the screen is black, the LG appears as if it's turned off, the Samsung, on the other hand, is a little lit.

I have the same problem, it appears to be screen-burning : apparently some pixels are getting "bleached" by displaying the same color most of the time (i.e the status bar) -although on mine the strip looks clearer and not darker like yours, but it seems to be a common problem on AMOLED screens..
At such prices, it should be supposed to last longer than a year.. I'll try and necociate a replacement with my carrier as mine is still under warranty.
Yes, it's a Super AMOLED plus issue, it is reduced in Samsung Galaxy III because it's only Super AMOLED.
But this is so early... and I think it's not time for it to do so, something is really wrong with your screen, you go see customer service if you are still in warranty ASAP

I'm afraid you can't avoid it, since it's linked to the screen itself. Not unless you're willing to spend a lot of dough on spare SuperAMOLED+ screens and learning how to replace one yourself.. The only thing you can do is enable autorotation on your launcher(s) and not hold your phone the same position all the time (i.e. alternate between portrait and landscape. Personally I configure my CM9 so's it authorizes 180° rotations, so I can hold my phone upside down too -very convenient when reading webpages to avoid mistakenly hitting the back button too often. ).

I believe this will be useful for everyone and will help debunk some myths about the issue.

Xperia X Starts Burn-in

Hello guys. I bought my Xperia X on May 2017. 1 year and 4 months passed away. It started to burn-in. So I just want to ask:
Anyone gets the same issue? or Im the one?
How can I fix this?
Here is a burn-in (photo isnt mine but same issue)

its ok dude my xperia x dual screen like u when the temperature rises dont worry
I fixed this issue I think but how long its goin I dont know. Here a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfNJi_LoAK4 , I put this video on my sd card and run the video for 4-5 minutes. And ghosts are gone.
Unfortunately, that seems a common issue with Xperia X. I bought mine in June 2017, the display didn't show any image retention, not even when hot. In May 2018 I noticed it started to show this issue when the phone was hot, so I sent it to warranty. They replaced the whole mid frame + screen (it seems they treat this as a single part) then sent the phone back to me. After the service, I got no image retention issues, not even when hot. Fast forward to today and I'm now experiencing this temporary image retention again when the phone is hot (but this time it's way less pronounced than before).
My warranty already expired, so I won't bother replacing the screen again since now I would need to pay for the repair and after experiencing exactly the same issue in two different displays I think it's safe to assume the problem would appear again sooner or later if I replaced the screen once more. Fortunately the issue isn't permanent and at least on my case the image retention is very faintly (you need to put brightness at maximum and display a solid gray image to really notice it), and you just need to let the phone cool down for some minutes to make the image retention go away...
Mine does it quite bad now, but it's old and tired I've had my x since release it is doing well for how it gets used.
I have same problem too.i recommend you to set white balance at another rate.
I add nightly mode to my phone and it fix.so i don't need any tools.

Le Max 2 Screen Noise

Hi, I have had my Le Max 2 for well over a year and it has been working fine. Tonight exactly one half(right side vertically) has a pink/green noise flicker on and off all the time. I've attached an image but of what is happening, although its the whole right side now and not just 3/4 of it. Also the previous screen I am browsing sometimes stays on the right side too.
Can anyone help with what it could be?
Cheers for your help

You need to remove the screen. Make the screen contact correct. Improve the badge. Secure with screws. Everything will be fine.
I have same problem, it shows up for 100ms, then it's gone. I have it appearing only while watching videos, never on normal use. With modem/firmware from 16s to 28s I always have this kind of glitch appear from top to bottom, on modem 30s it looks exactly like on yours 3/4 th of screen. Looks like software problem to me. I still have no solution for it
Hi, Im the original poster. My le max still does this every now and again but at the moment its fine. Mine is definitely to do with hardware. I believe its a loose ribbon. It sometimes starts if i drop my phone and i can also stop it from happening if i bang the phone upside down a couple of times.
You can try to squeeze phone just below sim slot, ribbon is located there about 1cm to the right from the left border of the screen. In my case I'm 100% sure, my problem is software related, since firmware changes glitch behavior. Unless firmware changes way how video chip communicates with the screen...
Sometimes 1 second, but I'm seeing it 1 or 2 times a week.
Rom doesn't notice

Odd screen discoloration

Hello!
I recently purchased an Honor 10 and noticed that it had a weird screen-issue that was only noticable while displaying certain pictures. The screen would turn a bright shade of pink and green while swiping between images in the gallery before rendering them in their correct colours. I also noticed that when I took screenshots they would come out with really washed out colours. I sent the phone back and ordered a new one from the same retailer since they're the only ones who stock the 128gb model in my country, and when the new unit arrived earlier today I found out it has the exact same issue. I called support to make sure that they didn't just send me back the same unit and they're adamant that it isn't and that the IMEI numbers are different. Has anyone else encountered this issue or am I really unlucky to get it twice in a row? I tried doing factory resets on both phones but the issue remains.

Hello! Thank you for replying! Mine was set to vivid, so I changed it. Really odd thing though is that I sent the second phone I had issues with back yesterday and settled for another retailer with the 64gb model, and today when it arrived I find that it has the exact same issue! Really not sure whether I'm doing something wrong or if I'm astronomically unlucky since that's 3 in a row now. At first I thought the images that get the discolouration issues might be corrupted or something like that, but I've downloaded others from google and gotten the same result anyway. Every time I take a screenshot the result comes out with less colours as well, so if I do it multiple times I get multiple copies of the same image with a gradient effect. I really love the phone other than these issues, so it's a bit distressing.
Seems impossible.
You get this problem since before you install any app?
Maybe the lighting in your house gives a weird effect on the materials used in this phone.
3rd one same problem is crazy.

Yep, no apps installed. I skipped the sync and wifi-connection and everything when I first started it so I could see if it worked properly. I don't think it has anything to do with the lightning in my house, I did a screen recording to show the issue so I could send it to Huawei support and ask about it, and you can tell even on my PC screen that the discoloration is very evident and the screenshot issue as well. That would indicate that it's a software issue, wouldn't it? I tried to attach the recording to my OP but I can't post links yet since my account is new. Not sure if I want to risk ordering another one, I will wait for their support to reply to me and see what they say!
Probably hardware problem.
I would return it and buy another one from a different source.
Probably a lot of bad batches got sent out?
