To God be the glory, my AOKP project finally works!
This is not a dirty unicorn. This is the original unicorn, the AOKP. Now made out of a marshmallow! That's right, all of the AOKP stuff you love, plus CyanogenMod's theme engine, plus Paranoid Android's Pie, and more! All wrapped up into one! With tons of settings from status bar tweaks to home button remaps, it's all here and ready to rumble!
**** This is an UNOFFICIAL ROM. Install at your own risk! ****

This AOKP MM ROM was built for the tbltexx and tbltetmo, the International and T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. I have not tried this on any other device, but you are welcome to try it AT YOUR OWN RISK. You will need to edit the META-INF updater script to accomplish this.
Code:

All of my work is completely available for any who wish to use or modify it. I didn't make AOKP, the device trees, or vendor blobs. I simply used and edited existing material. A huge thanks should go to those who actually created this stuff.

Notes.
Here are some notes about the rom that I thought might help:
Random Reboot issues with custom kernels?
If you are having random reboot issues with the new kernel, you can adjust the settings as follows:
CPU max freq. 2496 MHz
GPU max freq. 500 MHz
CPU governor interactive
GPU governor msm-adreno-tz
I/O scheduler CFQ
That should solve your issue with the custom kernel. If you want, you may also flash this baseline kernel:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/h9b68aaon1yvr11/aokp_pac-mm-kernel-baseline.zip
This baseline kernel will always work just fine, however the battery life and performance are not as good as the AKLU kernel.
If the screen looks red-ish, check the settings->display->live display options, you may want to turn them off, it is a low light sensitive display option.
Airplane mode - While switching between WiFi and regular data, on rare occasions, the phone will get stuck where you have data or WiFi with the ! mark and no connectivity. If this happens, you don't have to reboot, just hit airplane mode, give it a second, then hit it again to get everything working again.
T-Mobile users with device model = unknown:
If you are using a N915T (like myself), then after you flash the datazip file, you will notice that your phone reports itself as "unknown" to apps like XDA, TapTalk, About Phone, etc.
The fix is very easy!
-Open /system/build.prop in any text editor
-Anywhere in the file, add this line:
Code:
ro.build.model=SM-N915T
Save and exit, then reboot your phone. You can check "about phone" under settings, you should see yourself as SM-N915T, and apps like XDA should report you as Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.
Setting selinux to permissive:
See @oscarmaldonado post here for one of the many ways to do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69235667&postcount=17
Apps:
Side App Bar - This has a semi useful side "edge" bar feel.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=infamous.apps.appsbarfree
Swiftkey Keyboard - This keyboard can be set so the keyboard does not wrap around the screen.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey
Spen Command - This app cost a few dollars, but enables the Spen to be somewhat smart again, rather than just a pointer stick.
http://www.emandt.net/Android/SPenCommand/Website/
If you find something else that will help other users, please let me know by posting in the thread!

What a pleasure to be the first one......thanks OP, It's working really good on my SM-N915T, Bluetooth, WIFI, DATA. EXCELLENT ROM. THANKS.

Recents Button isn't work
the first version of AOKP is working on N915g
thank you so much!

Awesome! Glad the datafix helped out in the end, though I can hardly take credit for stumbling across someone elses work. Going to flash this as soon as I get the chance. Hopefully we finally have a stable MM AOSP for the Edge series. Nice work everyone!

Thanks, by God's grace it is working pretty well! Hopefully we can add our own version of the edge in the coming weeks, but we will see.
As for the prepaid minutes, there is an app on the plastered called T-mobile refill, or something like that, I think that is what you need.
You absolutely must be on 5.1.1 for this to work. I have tried flashing from 6.0.1, but then the camera will not work, among other issues. I can point you in the right direction, but I need to know which phone model you have, t, g, f, fy? Let me know and I can shoot you a link.

You need to have 5.1.1 bootloader/modem, you can always downgrade if you have 6.0.1.

Great question, my understanding is that a rom for multiple models of a phone go under Android Development. This rom can be used on both tbltexx and tbltetmo, so I posted it here. If I made a post in t-mobile development, it would only mirror this thread. I was hoping that other t-mobile users, like yourself, also check this forum. Otherwise I will need to maintain multiple threads of the same rom. Am I correct in my understanding? Is there a better way to tell the t-mobile users that this is available?

Hello, this ROM is also compatible with the Model Galaxy Note Edge SM-N915G?

Hi oscarmaldonado:
may i ask you how to change selinux to premissive?
thank you so much!

Hello my friend, I've been trying to find bootloader/modem but no luck, the only thing I found was stock rom 5.1.1, you can't go wrong by ODIN back to stock. Good luck my friend.

Thanks a lot mate
I don't mind flashing the stock 5.1.1 firmware on my 915f. But are you sure downgrading from MM to LP won't harm my device in anyway. Had read a few articles on how downgrade bricks device. Not an expert so forgive me. I prefer to clear all my doubts other than doing something stupid on my own
I am currently on noble rom 6.0.1 can I directly flash River rom 5.1.1 through TWRP. Would that work?

Dirty Unicorns is a custom ROM built with stability in mind and optional customization. The idea to start this ROM began out of pure boredom around 4.1.2 on the EVO 3D and later turned into a form of an addiction (a good one) to see where we could go from there. We have since expanded to more devices to include the HTC One, Nexus 5, SGS4 and many more. We quickly realize that users loved what we were doing as well as other developers because it was done the right way. We've always had fun doing it and take pride in knowing that we've done it without having to bug the end user for donations to pay for server costs and/or any of those sob stories you hear. This ROM is 100 percent free and will remain that way.
Those wanting to use our ROM as a base are more the welcomed to do so but please maintained the credits/thanks below, do not ask for donations as it wouldn't be fair to do so considering and let us know as we often like to contribute to other projects.
As stated above, we love to maintain authorship but we also like to publicly praise those that have helped us along the way with our wonderful project. With that said, this wouldn't be possible without the work and help of those listed below THANK YOU ALL!!

No workee...errored out immediately in TWRP.
I will have to fix the download tomorrow then. Sorry about that but it should have worked in TWRP. Maybe AFH did something while I was uploading it.

No worries...
Did you make sure to remove the assert check ( if any) in the updater scrip?
Something is wrong with the download. It shows that the zip is 168 mb but the zip doesn't show any files inside

Don't worry, I'm uploading a fixed new zip but the same version. this time I made sure I modded the build.prop, added the i777 modules in /system/lib/modules/, fixed the updater script to allow install on our phones and added Renderbrokens 6/22 kernel and sectouchkey.kl file in /system/usr/keyouts/, and finally changed from GT-I9100 to show SGH-I777 when connected to a pc. ill check it when it's done uploading.
EDIT: It's done now and I hope it works for you all.
Well, took me a little bit to get it going and smooth, but seems pretty snappy so far. I like the level of customization, and the way the controls are laid out.
Just installed this rom previous night. Overall smooth and has plenty of features. Battery life as good as any Cm rom, but some features are altogether incomplete likewise toggles in notification bar cannot be re-arranged and video playback is also buggy.
Any chance that the versioning on the ports will be maintained? This is a pretty good ROM.
Aaaaaaargh...this is such a good ROM, but MMS is giving me fits. I like Hangouts, but everytime I try to send an MMS, it FC's. I've tried Textra, and it just sits, doesn't send, tried stock Messaging, no go there either.
I did an uber-clean install, even wiping preload. I did NOT wipe the data partition. Would that have caused me any problems?

Doubtful, it's likely your APN settings. 99% of the time that's the cause, especially since you're having the issue across multiple apps.

I've had the same APN across multiple ROMs and this is the first one to choke on it... from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791526
I'll recheck them though.
EDIT: Went in and changed the port to 8080 and it started working again. Bizarre.

Sheesh...still getting Force Closes on Hangouts, and stock Messaging will FC then try to send... I don't know what else to try.

Too bad you gave up, it's a good rom and those problems you were having were the result of apps misbehaving... not a rom issue. You could have cleared data like razen said, booted into recovery and cleared caches, then you would have had no problems.

If I did a clean install in the first place, what is there to clear? I did the exact same thing going back to SlimSaber, and it all works like a charm. I'm not disputing that maybe I dorked something, but I'm pretty sure I did a good clean install.

[ROM] [KK 4.4.4] VANIR AOSP & COMMMOTIO

OK so before we start let me make something abundantly clear, I am posting this up here on behalf of the Vanir AOSP team, as their ROM is awesome, and it took me longer than the first google to locate it etc etc. There is a link at the bottom of how to find them on G+ and communicate directly with the team. THIS POST ONLY TO CONVEY FILE LOCATIONS FOR OTHERS WHO WISH TO TRY THIS ROM. I will keep it uptodate so that anyone on the S3 can get to it.

Vanir was founded on the premise of performance tuning Android. It is based on AOSP, but include features (many of which have been rewritten to be more efficient) from other ROMs.
The webkit, chromium, and skia are aosp/master merged with codeaurora, with linaro fixes on top.
BY LINARO, it means "-O3 -fstrict-aliasing".... not just switching toolchains. At Team Vanir, THEY GO HARD.
Youtube video of 4.4.2 (old)
Features
stock mode - ability revert to stock AOSP code with the exception of a few custom features we chose to keep active

improved notification handling (active display & halo are in review also)
usability improvements like power reboot menu and sound
animation control
Improved Vanir keyboard
CM's profiles & quicksettings
additional quicksetting tiles

Very good rom, I used to try. :good:
Excuse my ignorance, but what's the COMMOTIO ?
Do you have a stable release? Which version should I use, which is stable and there is no problem?

Commotio is a second rom built on the base of Vanir AOSP. Essentially it is the same underneath, but some people prefer the extras it has. Install either ROM and see which one you prefer yourself. AFAIK all the latest releases are stable.
It's so good to see more Roms coming to i9300:thumbup:

It was me who reported not working i9305's version
I tried once to grab a logcat and it didn't work, terminal continously waiting for device, while phone was looping Samsung logo. Is there any other way to do it? I will try anyway, maybe this time it will work...
Or.. would a logcat with a custom kernel help a little bit? Even if it booted there was not working cell network. However, then at least I could log anything
Apart from that.. What do you think about a feature to "swipe notification/app from recents to left to open it in floating window"? I think it gives great multitasking possibilities, somehow replacing halo (in my opinion).

You need to grab a log with adb
Just like when you root your phone with a USB cable to your computer... but type adb logcat

i tried both but apart from some visual differences I could not find any difference.. commotio B70 is still little unstable . i have applied a theme and the in call UI is crashing.. Vanir is comparatively more stable.
Any chance you could use a different naming convention for the nightly Commotio Roms only the past 4 or so that I have downloaded all have the same filename which makes it difficult to identify which is the newer one in CWM when installing and I want to keep the older ones in case something doesn't work. (and before someone replies with a smart comment about deleting or renaming them via a file manager app manually, I am aware thank you but sometimes you just want to flash...) Possibly add the date of compilation into the filename? Thanks.

Ehh.. I've tried to do it, but I got no log. The sad truth is that I couldn't get any logcat until the phone boots When it boots with my other configuration, logcat worked.
So I think I have to retreat. But why on earth it works great on i9300, but not on i9305? :/

Just saw 'atomic derpage'
Downloading, will get the answer in a while.
#EDIT
Yeah, finally it works! Pretty damn probability was really high today
Now it's time for testing. Maybe it's not THAT feature-packed like other roms here, but vanir definitely has its own taste
#EDIT2
Few interesting things that might be added to vanir:
- statusbar's clock needs a date next to it (not to feel lonely)
- slimrom's heads up (because they are taking heads up experience to a completely new level) with an option to launch it in floating window (just imagine these multitasking possibilites!!!) and reasonable 'disable on lock screen' feature
- why not to extend multitasking possibilities more and more? https://gerrit.paranoidandroid.co/#/c/4219/
- these are less spectacular, however still might be useful: adding ios-like carrier label in statusbar, battery qs tile showing whether you are charging with AC or USB, removing unneeded keyguard test activites (why would we need something useless?)
I know that vanir isn't such kind of a ROM that you ask for something and simply get it. However, these pointed changes may only improve its greatness and probably encourage more people to use it and stick with it. Also, you developers should feel the difference after applying some of these features

About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first created based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean because of curiosity. In the early days it was just a one man show on one device (EVO 3D). Since then many others have joined the project and it has grown a whole lot. We have seen a lot of talent contribute to this project of ours and many of our contributors have gone to help other projects and that is ultimately why we do what we do.
Once Jelly Bean was over, we decided in Kitkat to move to a new base which was OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting because it challenged us to see what we could with something different.
With Lollipop, we have moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. That said it has been an awesome learning experience and is still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward.
Few more things we will say is that we don't accept nor ask for donations. We don't believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc.....
We will never ask for a dime. All we do ask is that you search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!

That's a good news!!
Tell us more about this version!
Is it root?
Do we need special kernel?
Any bugs (LTE, wifi, bluetooth, GPS)
Add-ons?
Do we need to do a full wipe if coming from the 8.2 unicorn version?
Cheers

Yes you need to wipe everything!
OMG! It's Dirty Unicorn! I've been waiting for so long! I'm gonna flash it now straightaway.
I'll tell you if there's any bugs or problem! :highfive:
Sorry if I seem stupid, but we can assume : 1 This is an stock based custom Rom, not AOSP or AOKP. 2 The kernel is stock tweaked.
So, we flash it through custom recovery following your instructions.
Excuse me, I'm pretty newby into the Nexus world. Even I don't have yet touched my N7 3g!
I'm yet into the grabbing information here & there phase...

Take note that this ROM is for nexus 7 LTE , don't flash it on 3g or wifi variants!
Sweet, clean flashed from 4.4 but just had to reboot to start, thought I would try it on my 3g and it works fine so far. Not run DU for a while but just had to give it a go.

Wait what ?
1. There is no 3G version of the 2013 nexus 7
2. If this ROM boots for you , well then you own a nexus 7 lte (deb)
3. Network should be fine , go and check your APN settings
Oops, sorry, I had set up my cellular incorrectly and ticked 3g, silly old bugger. Also my data had expired. Keep up the good work your end.

Following on what I posted earlier!
The LTE doesn't work. When I boot my phone for the first time, it checks for service connection. After 5 minutes, it failed. Tried to skip and then when to settings and check there is no SIM card & APN is empty. I tried adding my service APN but still it's not working.
Thank you very much for your hard work. I love all the DU stuff that you add in, it's awesome! Looking forward to more.

I rebooted several times and re-inserting my SIM card. Still doesn't work. Too bad for me
Instead of "LTE not working" you guys should tell me your provider so I can add the APN

please take the following steps to report it to us. It will save you time, as well as us.
- Download the Catlog app from the Play Store.
There is also a donate version which you can purchase to show appreciation.
- After downloading the Catlog app, go to the app settings, and change the log level to Debug.
- Clear all previous logs and take the exact steps to produce the error you are receiving.
- As soon as you receive the error (probably a force close), go straight into Catlog and stop the log recording.
- Copy and paste the entire log either to Hastebin or Pastebin
- Save the log, and copy and paste the link into the forum with a brief description of the error.
- You can also open trouble tickets on our website for bugs.

You can flash the recovery.img from TWRP itself. Go to the directory and tap 'Install Image' button. Select the recovery partition and flash.
ROM has been pretty stable for me, good amount of customization without overkill.
Performance is snappy, about equal to Hashbang's LOS that this is based on but with similar bugs, I'm guessing likely kernel & modem related:
• Wifi-Calling being on still causes silence when a call connects (Simple Mobile). Also makes me think that having it off is causing a lot of calls to go straight to voicemail instead of ringing.. could be coincidence
• Had the no notification/ringers/alarms bug initially but swapping my own sound files in, giving them the proper permissions, reboot with a dalvik & cache clear and it worked again (before on LOS and I think RR I had to replace audio xml files for it to work which i think caused new different audio related issues)
• Usual slow camera, flashlight bugs, no big deal
Really interested in the MicroG features and curios whether something has to be done in the ROM specifically to set it up. Would it improve battery life enough to go through the trouble?

I dont have this issue on NR. Funny enough. I did om rest.
I see no real hickups. All working here. Full pulldown on notifacation/ followed by edit, will freeze a sec, and go back to home screen, but just once each time - no biggie. Just a edit problem, once set up np.
But would like to see an option to see ram usage in recent, not just omni, no fan of omni Lol personal prefference. Absolut not a must, just so used to have it there.
Other than this GJ, new dayly driver. Ty. :highfive:
If my help can be used for some, just throw a holla OP :good:

Link me your audio files, I'll take a look and compare if anything is missing.
ROM boot and works without GApps. I have been installing test builds without GApps. You just have to manually install each apk and restore contacts.
Only thing that affects battery when using ROM with GApps is Location History, you can turn it off. Also you can disable Google Assistant so it won't run background processes to detect OK Google. It would get you almost similar battery life, as using without it.
As for WiFi-Calling, I don't think so we have that in India, so I can't test or even try to debug.

Sure, Thanks. I just started getting into this stuff, so I'll try to get as much as help from the community itself.
Umm.. RAM usage in Recent? Have you seen any other ROM with that feature? It will be good for some reference, if am attempting to do that.

RR have this feature m8. Likewise CR. So my guess is most los. But cant seem to find it anywhere here. Went it all through step by step.
But its not a must in any kind.
Ill go look for the settings in RR also if you need med to?
I have no device with RR atm, but an s5 with CR nougat. I guess its maybe an aosp recents? Says so in CR recent screen settings, if any help. Have no SD card back before tomorow, and ill then reflash RR and screen the settings. Ill add two of CR settings. Its on Sgs5 though, but they look the same, and had the same on the xt1572 RR/CR
Im no developer my self.
But done some dif testing back in the days with insanity and slim. those days. So by me saying holla if need help, is could you test this for me, then OFC!

Thanks for your work on this and reply. What audio files are you referring to? I just have my own ogg & wav files which i put into the subdirectories in /system/meda/audio and delete the stock ones, change permissions and go from there.
Regarding the MicroG, my most recent knowledge is from here: https://lineage.microg.org/#instructions which mentions a MicroG settings app that masks itself sets up "google" services for the apps that require it. GCM etc. That's what I was looking for but didn't find here so was just wondering It's open-source as far as I know, would it be possible to include in some future version of the ROM?
Another bug I've had recently is phone calls not waking the screen.
I am absolutely happy with the ROM. Not finding anything wrong. Being a moderate user I feel Nuclea works perfectly. A small glitch while opening camera. It takes a bit more time than usual. Otherwise no issues.

FAQ:
Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Yes, just look in the OP to see if your device is built on a nightly or weekly schedule.
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels?
A. No. You can still use them, but discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
Q. Why doesn't this ROM support Xposed?
A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP, custom ROM's modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROM's. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be discussed in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports.
Q. Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A. You will need to use the version arm64/arm/whatever for SDK 27.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the install instructions in the first post...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, however make a nandroid backup first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs. Also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q. How do I dirty flash builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot", then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to loose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to loose root. Now swipe to flash, and then reboot.
Using the ROM:
Q. I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A. In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip that's in the substratum folder on the internal storage.
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. and do not post the content here. Thanks.
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android. You don't need to install any Add-on's, simply download the latest ROM, GApps, flash it and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM Zipfile.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
- Backup your personal data (Important)
- Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
- Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
- Wipe the System, Cache, Data and ART/Dalvik cache.
- Flash vendor (beryllium-9.2.25-9.0-vendor-firmware.zip)
- Flash the ROM + Gapps Zipfile.
- Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
- Reboot your device.
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once!
The root solution should be flashed together with every update (= ROM Update)
Currently Supported Root Solutions:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions higher than 14.0 doesn't require flash on every dirty flash depending on the device, some devices need you to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise it should be fine
ROM: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1UkbQGOvauEpgdvpBnwPTOqBmTta3h9gl
GApps:
Unofficial OpenGApps
OpenGApps
calls might start out on speaker. i have seen this issue on other roms and will be looking for a way to fix it soon!

I also love the way you put the customization in the settings like its a default stock rom (idk how to say it, its no like other custom roms that put the customization in one place and it didnt look natural idk) the only bug I found was ;
1. waking up from lockscreen took sometime.
2. the notch items didnt line up. (the battery and clock is pushed wayy to the side.
keep updating this beautiful ROM !!!
soft fast scrolling very good despite having a minimalist personalization is really excellent ... on the other hand the unlock by fingerprint fails and facial recognition does not work, you can not access the memory card, in general lines it looks very good
Great work
