1-first you need to unlock your device bootloader , on the phone, go to Settings > About Device then scroll down to find Build number and tap it 7 times to enable Developer Mode
2-next go to Settings > Developer options then set OEM unlocking to on
Then try with Odin

Thanks

Can we get an updated version? Normally I'd download from sam site but 1.5gb download with free account at 15kbs is ridiculous. You'd think they would provide better bandwidth for their support site and not try to have you pay a subscription...

I use SamFirm (here is a direct link if needed), it downloads the firmware from Samsung's servers and decodes the file to a flashable format.
Use "SM-J700P" in the model box, and one of these three region codes in the "Region" box
VMU - Virgin Mobile
SPR - Sprint
BST - "Australia (Boost Mobile) (BST)" is what it says on updato.com (formerly sammobile.com)
XAS - I have looked in threads on XDA and found that this is the "unlocked" version, use at your own risk, probably has the least bloat.
Or if your phone is still functioning download this handy little app that will tell you everthing you need to enter to get an update for your current FW.
Make sure the checkbox beside "Auto" is checked and click "Check Update" now go to the right panel, click the checkbox for "Decrypt automatically" and click "Download"
There ya go, I tried to make it as simple as possible and to give you the details you need, because I'm dumb and miss out on the obvious sometimes, so I make sure no one has that issue.

IDK why you would be looking for an app to download firmware you'd have to flash via Odin, very strange...
The app I referred you to is an app that gives you the region code and ID with which you need to enter into SamFirm to download the latest package for your device manually, sorry if there was any confusion.

I couldn't say. You can try though. I threw caution to the wind, and this is my daily driver.

Removed my OS like an idiot (Samsung Galaxy Tab A P355)

So I tried to root my phone and screwed it up (it was stuck on the Samsung boot screen).
Then I installed TWRP to try and recover it, but being the idiot I am I just ended up deleting the OS.
Now I don't know what to do, please help me.
Edit:
I have managed to fix this with the help of a user below!
What I did (for other users having this issue):
I downloaded the firmware for my device from Updato (link here).
Then used Odin 3 (version 3.12) and loaded the downloaded firmware into the AP slot.
I had to plug my device into the wall to allow it to charge (connecting it directly to my PC did not work), then I booted it up (it was stuck in the Samsung logo screen for a long while, but then it went into the setup).

Use ADB file transfer using the fast boot command line. Then download a flashable zip rom and push it to your device then flash, you also want to get gapps if you want to have Google play.

Maybe it's imported from another country then. I really don't know.
Do you remember what csc it had before wipe?
You can probably flash firmware from any country as long as it's unbranded. (not carrier specific)
I've done it a lot on all my phones to get the latest updates faster. I've had no problems at all.

No idea what the CSC was.
I will try installing another regions firmware.
You think I'll be able do that and then use Kies emergency firmware recovery to reinstall the original firmware? (Sorry if that doesn't make sense, again I don't really know what I am doing).
Appreciate your help mate.

Hey! I just managed to download the firmware from Updato and I am very relieved to let you know that I was able to boot up the tablet and it worked successfully!
All my files are gone, but that's alright, I deserve that for being and idiot and screwing up in the first place!
Just some final questions: Since the firmware region is "Indonesia", what exactly does this mean?
From my Google searches I see that firmware region doesn't mean much, just a few settings are different (such as having the language automatically on Indonesian). Is this true, or will I encounter any issues regarding this, since I am in a different region?
I appreciate your help and advice! You are a very good person and a valuable member of this community.
Thank you!
Good you got it going, and thank you for your kind words
You're right. It's mainly just small regional differences and as long as the phone/tablet isn't locked to specific carrier it usually works just fine with any csc.

XAR Firmware?

Has anyone found any working links to download the XAR version for US firmware for SM-T820? I can not find them anywhere. Would like to attempt root but definitely want the firmware to fall back on. If anyone has a link to the firmware it would be much appreciated

I'm also running BTU/UK firmware in lieu of my native XAR. Aside from my tablet devoloping a somewhat charming Brittish accent, I have had/noticed any issues.
Thanks, I will DL that one just in case.
Guys, I have a US device (t820) and just tried to install a European firmware. Whatever I do it won't allow me. I get an error unsupported dev_type (installing all the components of the firmware, BL, CSC, AP). Actually, downloaded the US firmware from the xda forum and that cannot be installed as well. hmmm

Thank you. I will give it a try today. OEM Unlock is enabled. One more question, which of the two CSC files should I use, there is which has HOME as part of the file name. Thanks in advance.
I'm wondering if someone here can assist me. I picked up the 128GB version of the Tab S3 at my local Best Buy. I flashed TWRP and Magisk and didn't have any. Then I decided to try out the Flash v1.1 Kernel. Well after I flashed that kernel the Google app kept crashing on me so I decided to start from scratch. The only problem was I couldn't find the XAR firmware for my 128GB S3. I tried the UK firmware listed above and that almost works except that it limits my storage to 32GB instead of 128GB. Has anyone out there found any XAR firmware that can be downloaded? Any idea how to fix the storage issue?
Edit: After poking around I found the correct firmware at the link below.

[help] How can I upgrade kiw-l21c432b160 to android 6

I need to install Android 6, but I can't seem to find a firmware upgrade that matches my version exactly.
What version is safe to use? I'm completely new to the android world, so I'm completely lost…
The closest I've found is a file named "Honor 5X_Firmware_KIW-L21_Android 6.0.1_EMUI 4.0_C432B330CUSTC432D001_Denmark.zip" but according to the PDF included in it I should only be used with versions:
KIW-L21C432B130CUSTC432D005
KIW-L21C432B130CUSTC432D006
KIW-L21C432B140
KIW-L21C432B300CUSTC432D002
Mine is kiw-l21c432b160.
Is it safe to use this one? Do you have any idea where I might find a suitable .zip if not?
Thanks for the help

Yes, now I'm starting to understand all these version numbers. My end goal is to install LineageOS, but I need MM first.
So now, I've switched back to Huawei eRecovery instead of TWRP, and tried two different firmwares (before B360 because apparently it prevents installing LineageOS), that were "validated with my IMEI". Settings>Update>Local>Reboot, installation starts I'm about to cry tears of joy and then around 15%, installation fails with no further details. I can then shutdown and reboot to my good ol' lollipop. Not sure what to do next...

I still have the same lollipop firmware my device was bought with. I don't think I have US variant. I brought it from (Amazon France)[https://www.amazon.fr/Honor-5X-Smar...d=1508409802&sr=8-2&keywords=huawei+honor+5x] and I am in France. The product title says it is unlocked but I had to do it myself.
I'll try your link as soon as I receive my SD card, because apparently it is required for this method. I still have this file from an older download, but was scared because a PDF file included in it mentioned it should be used with B140 and did not mention B160, but now that I've flashed a stock recovery meant for B140, this doesn't scare me anymore.

So, what is userdata?
A lot of people think this is carrier bloat only. However, userdata also contains the files necessary to activate carrier specific features. Without it, you may not be able utilize all of the carrier features that the phone is capable of providing. Please note that carrier userdata may not be available for your carrier.

Plug the cord your phone came with into your phone and PC. Other cords may not work.
The Odin log will display a <ID:0/005> Added!! message once it connects.
Flash the firmware:
First, extract the compressed firmware to a folder on your PC.
In Odin, begin with the BL (bootloader) box, navigate to the firmware folder and select the file beginning with BL_.
Wait for each file to initialize and appear to the right of its corresponding box before attempting to proceed to the next step.

AP takes a while to initialize, don't worry.

Now select the CSC (Consumer Software Customization aka Carrier Settings) box, then select the file beginning with CSC_.
Choose HOME_CSC to not wipe your phone, or CSC_ (preferred option when switching between unlocked and carrier versions) to wipe your phone .
Optionally, select the userdata (User Data) box, then select the file beginning with USERDATA_.
Now, click start and wait for the magic.
Disconnect the cord when the phone reboots.

You do realize how misleading the thread topic is? Your implying there's a U1 version of the ARF4 firmware.
The 965U ARF4 Odin files have also been out for days. I flashed 2 days ago.

It's not misleading, the firmware can be flashed on either version and it is official firmware. Further no one has posted the full version (includes HOME_CSC and USERDATA) for download until now. What's your beef?

The ARF5 Isn't official, at least not yet. If you use apps like SamsungPay that rely on safety net, you're best off not to use that version, at least until or if it becomes official.

Gotcha!
Also, in the OP you could help clarify what the other guy was talking about by stating that this firmware is US Xfinty which is a Verizon MVNO. I think thats what the other guy may have meant. When you look at the OP quickly you do get the impression that this may be for the unlocked U1. But eitherway... Thanks for posting it! Much better than trying to download from SamMobile!!!

The reason I say it *was* misleading is because the title made it seem like there was a U1 version of the 2ARF2 release. While I'm not in that boat, there are people looking to swap carriers, which requires flashing to the U1 to remove carrier settings, before then flashing to a new carrier.

Samsung Pay does usually work on the unoffial / pre-release releases. Samsung Pay only relies on Knox.

Do you have a link to it here? I'm on the T-Mobile firmware but want to flash it to Verizon, and need to flash it to the U1 unlocked firmware first.
