Live wallpaper for lockscreen? - LG G5 Questions & Answers

I noticed phone comes with built in live wallpapers for lockscreen. I downloaded a bunch in play store and they don't show up. Am I doing something wrong? Or we just can't use them?

Anyone?

I'd also love to see other anim. wallpapers ..
Sent from my LG-H850 using Insomdroid

I would Like to know this also

Maybe ita different file type? In root Explorer where would I look for that?

Those stock Live walls are exclusive for the G5's lockscreen, much like how most of LG's widgets are unavailable in custom launchers.

I'm looking too, my root wont happen. automagical keeps saying my bootloader Is locked no mater how many time I lock/unlock it. . there is a thread on the site somewhere if you are rooted. you can flash a couple files to make it happen. /I would at least like the option for live papers for lock myself.

Friendstream / live wallpapers in official 2.1

my question is, has anyone got the Friendstream app and widget to work in the official 2.1 release?
I tried installing FriendStream.apk and com.htc.FriendStreamWidget.apk from VillainROM, but it's not possible to install them.
The other thing is, has anyone working Live Wallpapers in Official 2.1 ?
Again, I tried installing LiveWallpaper.apk and LiveWallpaperPicker.apk, these worked, and when selecting background I can really select Live Wallpapers.
But, whenever I click on a Wallpaper to get the preview, LiveWallpaperPicker crashes.
I have searched around a lot and found that many people have these problems, but I found no solution. Am I just too blind to find it?
Please tell me if there's something I can do.
Thanks

Nah, you need the whole rom to get friend steam, as there are big changes in the frameworks.
Also, you using launcher pro to get lwp? Iirc u need a third party launcher to do lwp
ah thats sad... i had hoped it would need only minor changes in the apk to make friendstream work on the hero.
as for live wallpapers: i tried it with HTC Sense, Launcher2, Launcher Pro and HelixLauncher, the results are always the same: when selecting a wallpaper, I see the "Live wallpaper" option and can select it, afterwards I see the list of installed wallpapers. but whenever I click on one of the wallpapers, the "application Live Wallpaper Picker has terminated unexpectedly".
is there a fix for this?

[Q] Root, asus etc

Hi guys!
So still learning my tablet to know and at the moment I have managed to make different wallpapers for each screen and downloaded some funny games.
So now I'm hungry for new experince! (Can you even say this in english? )
All the time people are talking about rooting their devices, is it the same thing when you jailbreak an iPhone? And when you do it, what does it to your device?
I'm really carefull about doing anything stupid since I'm from Europe and bought my Galaxy 10.1 in US.
Then people are talking about asus widgets and they have to push them to certain folders. I'm like
Something i'm really curious about, how do I get some new icons for my stuff? I would like to change some of them, but where do I get them? I have the Desktop Visualizer but need the icons.
What is honeycumb? Touchwiz is the interface we use navigate within our tablet, right?
I really want to learn this stuff, but when I read about it, i'm lost from the start. Everything I can tell me, so I can understand you guys in the forum would really be appreciated!
So, I'm by no means any techie who dares to compare myself to any of the geniuses in here.
But I can help you out a little bit..!
Rooting is nothing more than giving yourself full control over your tablet. When you're NOT rootet, certain aspects of controlling the tab is "locked", so to speak. And that goes for the apps, you install to. Certain files can not be changed, over-written, deleted or even just "watched", if you're not rooted. It's kinda like giving admin-rights on a PC..
Honeycomb is nothing more than the name of the Android-version for tablets, and Touchwiz is the interface and framework Samsung uses for all its Android-product - a way to differ from the other android-products. This tab was first sold without Touchwiz in some parts of the world (running barebone Honeycomb) and then got a touchwiz-update later on. Many of Samsungs own apps will not work on even Samsung-devices, if they do not have TW installed, as they're based on TW-framework.
Pushing something to a given directory basically means copying/moving it to that directory. However, as these directories are mostly "locked" folders, you will need to be have rooted your tab to do this. The "pushing"-term comes from using ADB, where you use a command that says to push the given file to the given directory. Most times off, though, you can do this with a simple file manager (with root-rights ) on your tab.
The only way I know to get new icons is to either
a) Use another Launcher or
b) flash a custom rom with other icons.
However, I'm sure there are other way to do this, that I'm not aware of myself
Hope this helps a bit. Tried not to make it too long and confusing, but I'm not so sure that went too well
Launchers like ADW EX allow you to download "theme" packs, which usually contain a lot of different and new icons.
How did you get a different wallpaper on each screen? Edit: Multipicture Live Wallpaper lets you do this.

Ok, that I get. Also what I thought, so almost the same thing jailbreaking and iPhone, but people with the galaxy have many more options afterwards.

If I'm not tottaly wrong we are using Android 3.2 / 3.1 and that is what we call Honeycomb? Simply the name of the Android version. And as I thought, Touchwiz is the interface. I read somewhere it was sold without Touchwiz, but what difference does Touchwiz make? As I wrote, I bought in the US but I have no idea whether I had touchwiz or not. There came some new things after the update, "Indstillinger (Its on danish, dont know the word in english, but maybe "options"?) was completely change from black to white.

Ok, so when people are talking about pushing something, that probably 'cause they have rooted their device? Not when I simply move a picture from one place to another?

Another launcher, you mean another thing then Touchwiz?
Flash a custom rom? I'm lost again
That helped a lot! If you can explain me what "flash a custom rom" means, and simply "flash" and "rom".
Thank you !!

A Launcher is basically the the desktop of your tablet/phone. It is what displays the shortcuts, application list, widgets etc. that you are using. It is used to 'launch' all other applications on your device. So if you don't like the default launcher on your phone or Tablet, you can use one from the marketplace. there are lots of different options but so far I only know for sure that ADW EX supports honeycomb (Android 3.x)
If you have ADW EX, you can download ADW Themes from the market, and those will change up the appearance of your device, including icons.

[Q] Can't change lockscreen wallpaper

I've looked around here for a while, but I can't find an answer.
I'm using a rooted Tab 10.1. I'm using MultiPicture Live Wallpaper to set the five screens, and I have no problem with that.
I do, however, have a problem setting the lock screen wallpaper. I've tried changing it by hitting the + then going to wallpaper, I've tried changing it from the gallery itself, but nothing's working.
The tab flashes for a second as if it's changing wallpapers, but then when I got to the lock screen, the default one is still there. It's not a huge deal as it obviously doesn't affect how the tab actually works, but it's annoying that something so simple isn't working properly.
Any ideas here?
edit: and yes, I've tried setting the lockscreen wallpaper from within Multipicture Live Wallpaper. Still not working. :\
thanks!

On Stock Touch Wiz UX, you have two options when you change the wallpaper, it will ask if you want to change Home Screen or Lockscreen, you can have two different ones but it seems live wallpapers or "wallpaper apps" outside of Gallery can cause bugs in this preventing the wallpaper from changing or even displaying properly. Sometimes on mine when I change it, (its random when this happens too) is, the wallpaper sometimes gets cut off on the edges with a huge black crop, I have to switch to portrait and then back to Landscape for the wallpaper to display properly, I've noticed it only does it with Wizidrii Wallpaper app installed, it must do some sort of modification to the wallpaper settings that causes it, once I uninstall it, the wallpapers work perfectly fine. Using the multipicture Live Wallpaper could be affecting the Lockscreen settings preventing it from changing, what I recommend would be to try changing the lockscreen FIRST before using the Live Wallpaper your trying to set with the lockscreen of your choice.
I would try using just regular images instead of live wallpapers to see if that affects it also, a rooted rom could be the culprit too since custom Honeycomb ROM's are glitchy at best since Google never released its source code yet.
Should have mentioned, even when I use a normal wallpaper, like one that came with the tab, I still cannot set the lockscreen.
I'm using the default ROM, just rooted it.

Have you tried just going to Settings -} Screen-} ScreenDisplay... And changing the wallpaper from there?
I have perrty much the same setup your running except in not rooted. On a side note, I don't have any issues with setting my lockscreen wallpaper using any method. Could it have something to do with root?
Sent from my Galaxy10.1 TouchWiz/ADWex equipped Starship.
Got the same problem with Overcome Rom installed, can't change the lockscreen wallpaper, tried all ways, via Gallery, Settings, Multi Live Wallpaper, it simply remains the orange stock one, only if i try it via MLW after unlocking the device the selected wall flashes for a split second....anyone got an idea about that?
Having the same issue with Task's ROM. I can change the regular wallpaper fine, going it settings-screen and changing there does nothing. It goes through the process but when you return, nothing has changed. Even rebooted after changing to see if it needed that and I can't change that paper.

[Q] How to choose a live wallpaper ONLY for the lockscreen

I looked around the forums but couldn't find any good answers/explanations about it, so I decided to ask myself.
The thing is I grew addicted to GoWeather's live wallpapers showcasing the current weather, the HD ones are a true sight for sore eyes, the thing is I dont want it on my home screen because I feel it lags me up a bit, and I also dont like how it transitions on to other screens, but mainly because I like static backgrounds for my home.
So I wanted to set the live wallpaper to appear ONLY in the lockscreen (im using widgetlocker) but I simply can't set it to go there; is there anyway to set a live wallpaper only for the lockscreen? I tried browsing my phone's memory (I own a SE Xperia Neo) to see if I could find the live wallpaper myself and set it manually, but I cant find them on there.
If someone can shed some light on this or where the wallpaper got installed to I'd appreciate it greatly ^^
cheers
Anyone? Anyone at all? *__*
i dont think u can use live wallpaper for only lock screen ..that is all i know
meh, thx anyway >.<
You can have it on the lockscreen but you will also have to have it on ypur home screen. i use go locker to do this but i dont know anyway in which you can have it only for your lock screen. Go locker is a new app so hopefully they will update it the way you want it

Cant Set Certain Wallpapers for Lock Screen

Well the issue that I've been experiencing is very frustrating but then again anything I can't figure out on my phone pisses me off I just want to set the same wallpaper for my lockscreen as I have on my home screen however I do not have the same options for the lock screen as in my home screen. I am using Nova Launcher Pro and running JediX. On Nova Launcher I have the option to choose wallpapers that came with my icon pack but do not have the ability to use them for the lockscreen as well. Does anyone know if there is a way to do such a thing? Thanks in advance and I will try to respond quickly If you have questions so that you can help me out a little more.
Are you on a TW Rom? If so, use stock launcher and it will give you the option to set lockscreen wall then go back to Nova.
Well if only gives meimited options when using tpuchwiz launcher. And yes I'm using Jedi X17
Or...... if you can find the wallpapers via gallery or a file manager, just long press and set as wallpaper or lockscreen, or both. Might need to use the menu key instead of longpress but either way the option should still be somewhere. Good luck.
Doesn't work :/ can't find any folder with those in it. For stark at least. The others I know I can since those basically just download photos but the wallpapers for stark are built into the icon pack itself I believe so there are no actual photo files.
