No Launcher - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

I bought a Le Max 2 from a Chinese vendor. I'm in the US. Had a OS that didn't have a "System Update" app so I looked around saw someone say I should update to 019S manually. I downloaded: http://forum.le.com/in/eui_detail.html?euiid=209 and renamed update.zip and vol up-power updated it. It updated but I don't have a launcher now. I have some chinese app with video. Home button does nothing. How can I get to a launcher?

Just install one from the play store, then in settings/apps at the bottom of the screen you will see a 'set defaults' button, hit that and set launcher to the one you installed.

Hello. You need to install Custom ROM like Cuoko92. To do it, first go to fastboot mode and flash TWRP Recovery with fastboot command. Then boot to TWRP and flash Cuoko92 ROM based on 18S. Search this forum or elseware for detailed instructions. I do not know what about bands in USA vs Europe and China. You will need also go in service mode and set up USA Bands.
OMFG you Installed Indian ROM. You will also have encrypted data issue.

I don't really get what you mean by "I don't have a launcher". You mean you don't have an app drawer? You can't not have a launcher.

G3 Update

I just received a Android update in my notification menu. I am rooted and running a custom recovery (twrp). I know I cannot accept the update but I can't swipe it away. Anyone know how I can get the update removed from my notification menu?
Have you tried long pressing on the notification and disabling notifications?
I froze system update in ti backup I didn't have a pending update but I would try that

Thanks for the thumbnail. I did find it in TB and froze it but I'm still getting the update notification in my notification pull down.
Did you restart the phone after
that may work
Don't know if this will work or not, but on the Galaxy S3 the way to stop getting nagged about an OTA was to edit build.prop and replace all references to the old ROM with the new one. So you could try making a backup of build.prop, then edit all references to ZV4 and change them to ZV6. Save the file, make sure permissions are set to rw-, r--, r-- (0644), and reboot.
I would strongly suggest making a nandroid backup first.
Here's how I have been doing it:
1. Download Autorun Manager
2. In settings under advanced enable view services
3. Go to Google Services Framework and disable update...see below.
At your own risk if you decide to try it, of course.

This is the recommended way. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57182591
If the update has already downloaded. Disabling the OTA still wont get rid the the notification. Easy way to get rid of it is long press it and go to app info. This will take you to Google Play Services. Simply uncheck show notifications and the system update in the pull down notifications will go away.
Just a temporary fix to get it out of the way. I reccommend just downloading a ZV6 rooted rom.

Lucky you. Good find. Glad you got it sorted. Now you can relax.
I have a question that I wanted to ask before I go any further. I bought a G3 last week, rooted it and installed twrp recovery, and have done multiple backups.. Had a hardware defect so I had to exchange my phone for another new one. I received a system update just now so I was going to accept the OTA update since its not rooted, completely stock. My questions are will I be able to root and instally twrp after this update and once I install all my apps, and if rooting and installing twrp is successful, can I restore my backup that I did on my other phone, even though its a different phone? Its from the same carrier and same model phone. Thanks for your feedback.

Don't take OTA. Root it and TWRP it. Then flash STOCK ROM ZV6 Deodexed or Odexed, then you'll be up to date and keep root with TWRP.

Cool, and congrates Wimbet (Taylor ?) so now we finally have a public release again!! flashing it now...
Edit:
Boot to stock recovery doesn't flashing, need to: (copied from above instructions)
1) Copy the dload folder to the root directory of the MICRO SD card.
2) Make sure your handset is power off... then Press the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN keys and POWER key to power on the phone(picture1) , when the HUAWEI logo is showed , release the POWER key and keep pressing the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN keys(picture 2) until your phone is entered the Software Upgrade Mode.
Have they released the kernal source too ?

Given the way Huawei works, you might need to check a lot .
I have the update showing up in my phone. If I unroot and run the updater, will that be enough to make it work without wiping my phone? I screwed up the last update by not unrooting first, and could only get it done by adding the update to the dload folder and wiping/restoring my stuff. I don't want that again.

- Clicked "Unroot" in SuperSU.
- Extracted the Recovery.img from the B321 update and flashed it (TWRP is no longer there when I boot into recovery)
- Clicked download and update in the updater software. Clicked "Install" and accepted the prompt.
- Phone boots into the updater and it fails at 26%.
Any ideas why it fails? I am definitely on B321, so I thought I flashed the right recovery and unrooted. I don't think I changed any system files.

Big exclamation point, "Software install failed" underneath, "press powerkey to confirm".
Pressed power button to restart.
Phone reboots to what looks like an updater screen for less than half a second then reboots again.
Boots into the phone fine but still I'm on B321.
Notification screen says ""System update failed last time".
No other notification or information other than that the update is now gone but available to be downloaded again.

Full update.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B97V_YadJs2baHJSTGJDbkI0clE/view?usp=docslist_api. As usual.. Extract to external sd card on dload folder and three button startup.
In case anyone like me who can't bear the phone with gargantuan text, icon etc and would like to change the lcd dpi, don't bother then because the screen will be unusable if you change the lcd value. Just a heads up ! Since I can't stand the phone this way, I'm heading of to try PAC rom ! So long, Huawei and your sh*tty but nice looking EMUI.
@medwatt you will love the PAC rom and updates bi weekly right now. Next build will include new camera app and call record.

Installed Chinese 16s, factory reset it and placed 17s update on SDcard and renamed to update.zip
The offline update failed. (Message from LE's stock recovery)
Tried to flash through TWRP on Chinese 16s and it gave error Bluetooth.odex has unexpected errors.
My phone is not rooted or modified in any way.
The 17s package is 100% problematic and fails no matter what.
Is there anything else special that needs to be done?
Iam using the one I've uploaded.
I was on 16s with twrp and supersu.
My steps were.
Full unroot via the SuperSU app
Rename file to update zip and put on sdcard
Go into recovery which is now the std recovery, unrooting for some reason removed twrp.
Select update and of it went ,done.
That's all I can really tell you.

I installed it in one pass with twrp. Copied all files to internal storage, installed CN-16S, installed Update-CN-17S, installed XPOSED and installed SuperSu_2.76. After reboot and optimizing apps, all is ok again, update finished...
Until now I didnĀ“t see any issues or problems, have to test more and will post, if there are any (for me)...

This update checks all checksums of Apps and Libs before Update, because its only a patch for all these files. So if you not on China-16S base, you cant use this update...
The Chinese 16s fill ROM from Le website is slightly a newer version than what this 17s update zip expects. I get the version mismatch error in TWRP.
I again downloaded the exact same version file of 16s from Le website as requested by TWRP. But after installing, TWRP again reports that it is not the same version. Installed version is different than file name.
I used LE_X2_X820-CN-FN-FEXCNFN5801607221S-5.8.016S.zip from this website http://bbs.le.com//zt/eui/le_max2.html as base. But I didnt download it again, I had it already downloaded at 8.8.2016... Not sure if it is really different, but I dont think so. May be used TWRP is the problem. In LeEco Forum, they say you should use this one https://mega.nz/#!ll1Q1CYT!DzImTgertrc9yg23s9puKToL8XeEU24H3-9BsooVbMI
I installed Chinese 14s which I had downloaded a month ago. I factory reset it. When I booted into it, it doesn't offer me OTA update to 15s.
Is my phone phuc**d?
BTW that recovery is the same 14s recovery which does not work. Just gives Blue Led of Death BLOD.
Use the twrp auto installer from XDA at the end when it says to push any button to finish,DONT. Unplug from USB and hold volume up and power button till it boots to twrp recovery. I would always get the blod when I done the last step of push any button. Are you guys unrooting your phone first via the SuperSU app and then going into recovery after unrooting as my twrp goes after unrooting.

Don't know either, to be honest.
Despite that, someone complained he had issue with flashing a ROM, having a second recovery if something not works is good to have.
