Is this S2 fully bricked or any chance to get it running? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have this I9100 smartphone, that I really liked once, but I bricked it. It is too long ago so I don't exactly know what happened.
I think I was using some tool to change the partitions or have done something similar .
I tried to use the search but it did not really help me, maybe I don't know what words to use, as english is not my native language.
this is what it does or does not:
power -> nothing
power and vol+-> nothing
power and vol--> nothing
so Recovery does not work, download mode does not do anything but show the following message(this happens only with usb cable) so I think it also does not work
"
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again."
when I try to use KIes and do a recovery it does not show the device.
But once I managed to get it connected to windows 7 and it was shown as Samsung usb composite device(Or something like that).
But it is a real pain as the usb port of the smartphone is not stable, so this annoying sound of connecting and disconnecting is heard everytime I touch it.
maybe I should use hotglue to fix this or bend the plug to get it stuck really tight.
I also tried download mode without battery and then put in the battery. it says battery is to low to do download or something like that. written in small red letters in the first line.
so is it possible to get it back or is it dead? I just want to know if I should try to fix the usb port and keep on trying and searching or forget about it..thank you very much, this is a great community and it helped me already a lot in the past

Hi,
This does sound like the symptoms of a broken usb port. You should fix it as it seems that there is a chance you may be able to revive the device (just from reading).
My general assumption however is that if you can't boot up using hardware buttons and using a usb jig doesn't help, you device is probably dead.
Saber.

You don't use Power+Volume keys for Download and Recovery mode.
But Power + Volume+ + Home for Recovery (and Volume- for Download mode).

[Q] How bad can brick be?

I've read some people who have tried rooted there phones have completely bricked the phone to the point they cant restore it? Is this really possible? Because i have had my phone for some time now, and am thinking of rooting but dont want to break it...
Thanks
If you get the Phone ---> Computer screen and you have locked hardware access, there is no fix for it right now (unless you're lucky and somehow get adb to work).
If your phone can get to download/recovery mode from a powered down state (using the physical buttons) then its pretty much unbrickable.
Edit: I have locked hardware access and I rooted my phone. It seems pretty low-risk as far as I can tell.
it really only happens to people who can't properly read instructions right or when they're flashing things labeled 'BETA'.. i would personally attempt to get into download mode using physical buttons, if you're able to do that and you know how to flash back to stock using Odin.. you're fine, search the forum for instructions on getting to Download mode.
Being rooted will have NO risk of bricking your phone.
It's flashing custom roms and such that poses the risk.
I'm glad my Vibrant isn't hardware locked like the newer ones. I got the Phone--Computer error when flashing the gps fix/beta rom. Luckily, it was super easy to fix, but if I couldn't use the volume buttons it's impossible.
So, if you want to get root to do things like share your wifi or have adblocking on your phone, you'll have no real risk, but flash at your own risk.
Edit:
See if you can get into download mode by using your hardware buttons.
Turn your phone off
Plug into USB on your computer
Wait until battery status comes up
Hold down both volume keys and power. When powered up, stop hitting power.
If you get into download mode, your chances of actually bricking your phone are significantly lower than they would be if you couldn't. Not 0%, but definitely a lot better odds going in your favor.
The software really should've been called Loki because it's a tricky bastard and just likes to randomly screw you over.
EDIT2:
OK, Turns out the way I suggested you get into download mode is the hard way (it was how I learned to do it).
The EASY way is to plug your USB cable into the computer but NOT the PC.
Turn off your phone.
Hold down both volume keys and plug the USB in.
The phone should power up in download mode without you even needing to hit power.
ok but is there a difference between download and recovery
- Recover shows you a nice menu with a few options.
Allows user to use menus with the use of his Vol +/- and power button
- Download shows a HUGE triangle with an android digging with a shovel and says download
Normally used to flash with ODIN

Reading and understanding instructions will almost always prevent this ..... taking some time to research the basics is a plus....
ROOTING never causes bricking .,..,.,. USER error is the culprit 100% of the time ....
"completely bricked the phone to the point they cant restore it"
You said it .,.,. this is what is ment by bricked *no boot at all*.. only way to fix on some devices is by the use of Jtags(See xda-WIKI). Only android device that has this option so far is the G1 ( don't know if they got it 100% working yet )... Not being able get into download mode because of locked hardware buttons is not bricked... just got to find a work around ,or find out how they are locking the buttons ...

[Q] Jacked Up My Vibrant

First Hello All,
I don't post much I mostly lurk and read. I have seemed to totally Brick my phone. . In DL mode Odin doesn't recognize my phone this is after multiple times of reinstalling the drivers via Kies. I seem to no longer be able to get into recovery mode either. Not sure what the heck I did but it seems bad. Any help would be much appreciated.
In general, stay away from Kies.
Look in the Noob guide there are a number of ways to get in download mode or recovery mode.
I am assuming you have the phone rooted and either are trying to load or reload custom software.
here are couple of the ways:
Dl mode = vol up + home + power
Recovery = vol down + home + power.
Pull battery plug usb (already plugged into the computer), hold button combo and insert battery
There are variants of these (like do the above a tap home quickly while holding down buttons) they are in the Noob guide as well.
Good luck, this should be easy to fix
Thx. I will give the above a try. I'v been trying everything under the sun. If I can get into recovery I think I will be good.
Thx again.

Is your phone actually entering download mode? If so it's saveable and you are experiencing a driver related issue. Re-install the drivers then search for ODIN 1.82 and YouTube the ODIN video I have made to help you use it. If it's not powering on, I can still fix it as well with JTAG!
I can get into DL mode. I have reinstalled the drivers multiple times with the same result. Windows just won't pick up the phone. I used to be able to get into Recovery easy now seems I can't at all.
Try another machine. The only thing it can be if you are still unable to get it picked up on another machine is a form of brick that effects the USB port (I've never seen that) or your port is dead itself or atleast the data transfer pins (1 or both) are jacked up.
After finally getting back into DL Mode I get the same USB Malfunction error on 3 different PC's. This is weird at this point I have uninstalled and reinstalled all types of drivers from ( Vibrant to SGS II ) still nothing.

[Q] my note wont power on but computer recognizes

my note froze up for 5 minutes so i took the battery out and tried to power on by button but no response have been on the charger for hours and nothing. I plugged it in to the computer and is recognized but phone wont show any life. I tried all physical button combos and took battery out for 10 minutes. Phone is and has never been rooted. please any help.
can you get it into download mode?
1. Disconnect the phone from your pc or wall socket
2. Plug a usb cable into your pc, but not into the phone yet
3. Remove and replace the phone battery
4. while holding the volume down and power buttons, connect the phone to the usb that is connected to your pc
If you're in download mode you'll see a big green android guy with the word "Downloading..." underneath.
Not sure what could've gone wrong, but if you can get into download mode, then there is still hope yet for your device.
If you can get into download mode, and you are willing to try some things, it may be possible for you to flash a stock recovery using a tool like Odin. There are guides available for this, like the one here. I would wait on some of the more experienced folks to put in their 2 cents still...like i said, that has never happened to me, so i'm not sure what could be the problem...

Flashed Wrong Recovery - CWM and Download mode don't work

I tried to Unroot my Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE last night and think I may have bricked my tablet. I used the instructions here on the XDA forum which had a link to all the Stock ROM's in one place. I got the most recent one and the only one for USA but it said it was for the model 7510. I didn't think that would be a problem since the USB drivers I installed on my PC were also labeled as being for the 7510 and they worked.
This tablet is the SCH-I905. Now I can't get it to boot at all. Gets stuck in a boot loop. Shows the Samsung logo, then resets and does it again. I can't get it in recovery mode either. Goes to a black screen and hangs.
Using the normal process to get to Download mode doesn't work. Holding Power and Volume Up, then letting go of the Power button, then pressing Volume Down and then Up. That's one weird thing. I can get to the option screen that shows the Download and Recovery mode options. Normally I would hit the Volume Down button to select Download mode and on the screen it says to press Volume Up to continue or Volume Down to cancel. If I press Volume Up it goes to a black screen and hangs. If I press Volume Down I get the Odin Download screen that says Waiting on USB cable.
That screen doesn't look the same as what I normally see but I'm not sure what's different. I didn't memorize each line of text. I just know there's not as much text there as there usually is. My PC will not recognize the tablet no matter which USB port I try to use and the tablet doesn't recognize that the USB cable is plugged in. I had no problem with the USB connection before I flashed the 7510 stock ROM.
So, if I cannot get to recovery mode and I can't get Download mode to work so I can use Odin to flash a different rom then is this thing bricked or is there something else I can try? I am about to try using my laptop and its USB ports but I don't think that's going to make any difference.
BTW, I have since found the correct 'stock recovery rom' at droidbasement.com and downloaded it to my PC. I just need to get on the tablet somehow.
Many people have your problem. I have my Lte verizon bricked as yours. The problem is demaged bootloader, only nvflash can fix it but actually our bootloader is locked and we need a hex key called sbk. At least we have to wait that somebody hack our tab from the basement. For now we can only search and share result.

[Q] Samsung S3 not responding at all!

I have a samsung galaxy s3 i9300! While i was sleeping, i was charging my phone and when i woke up the phone was stuck at the initial logo screen of samsung! Then, i tried to press the home bottom power and volume up bottom to reset while it was doing that it went back again to the logo screen before being able to choose wipe cache and stuff! I tried it several times! Then as i was searching through net i saw that odin thing custom Rom and i thought that maybe i should give it a try! So i tried to installed it by connecting my phone to the laptop but my pc did not identify my phone! Then I tried again by connecting and disconnecting the pc with my phone and while doing so i pushed the button of Repartition at Odin. My phone was not identified so i have no idea if that happened! Now my phone does not even open, or charging! Please tell me if there is a way to make it work again!
It might be of some help to mention that my charger is a new one that i bought from bol.com and its not the original one! I have no idea if that affected somehow the mobile functioning.
No, you are unlikely to fix that. You can try a usb jig, see if download mode will start, but it sounds like partial SDS followed by user panic until it was hard bricked.
If it didnt show in odin you have a driver issue and the repartition wouldn't have happened.
Remove battery, sd and sim. Make sure the battery is charged.
Insert battery and hold home+vol down while pressing power once.
If the screen lights up do not let go of home+vol down until it has entered download mode. If the phone wont light up at this point you have a bigger problem.
Once in download mode install the samsung mobile device drivers on your pc, you might need to try different versions, and plug the phone into the pc's usb on the motherboard. Try to avoid using front mounted or shared ports as they are unreliable. If your phone doesnt interact with your pc try other drivers.
