F3216 Dual Root process? - Sony Xperia XA Ultra Questions & Answers

So to avoid bricking this time, lets see if I got everything right.
1: Install drivers for Xa ultra and fastboot.
2: Unlock Bootloader
3: Dowload Boot.zip and recovery.zip from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/xa-ultra/how-to/how-to-root-xperia-xa-ultra-dual-t3439173
4: Now here's where I'm confused. Do I need to have specific firmware number, or current-newest firmware will do the job? Do I need to re-flash that firmware? Do I have to wipe Userdata in Flashtool?

Could still use help on this

[Q] New to Z2, few Questions

Hey guys,
I am new to the Z2 and Sony devices in general. I rooted and flashed Samsung and HTC devices before, so I am not a total beginner.
Basically what I wanna do is: Flash the eXistenz Rom with locked BL.
1. Flashtool
Okay, so I need to downgrade. I already downloaded the flashtool + a .314 firmware for my phone.
Do I leave the flashtool flashing options just at the defaults? I mean do I really don't wanna check things like partition and TA in the "exlude" field.
Wouldn't that mean that it is going to flash TA and re-partition the storage (doesn't really sounds like what I want). I read some threads,
but they're always like "Yeah, just click flash", so I thought I doublecheck.
2. Rooting
Okay, so theres many root methods out there, which one can you guys recommend? What root method does flashtool use?
3. Nut's
If I do all the above mentioned, I could just flash a ftf file and my phone would be completely stock right? Nut's is also some sort of hack which doesn't alter the original recovery in the recovery partition on my phone, right?
Thanks in advance.

1. yes leave flashtool options at default (it will wipe your internal storage)
TA partition isnt touchable realy, if your DRM keys exist they arent affected by using flashtool
2. Rooting depends on your firmware, 167 or newer isnt rootable via tool so you will have to folow a slightly longer task to root, easy root tool is recomended (check the info thread near the top of QnA section)
3. [NUT] Is a user who makes recovery for locked bootloaders, You need to be rooted to be able to install his recoveries
flashing a FTF will completly reset your device to stock
[NUT]'s Recovery for locked bootloader doesnt affect the boot or Recovery partition hence its ability to run on a locked bootloader

yes.
1. Downgrade (if youre using the .167 to .112)
2. Flash root through adb
3. Flash recovery through adb
4. Build pre-rooted upgrade zip
5. Flash with recovery
6. Now you're on .167 with root and bootloader locked.

Nice! Thanks
I have xperia m aqua e2353 with 26.1.A.2.167
I already downgraded to 112 and was able to root.
I want to flash .167
From the instructions, it says "build pre-rooted upgrade zip". I can't find a step-by-step procedure on doing this. Do I have to have a 167 ftf and use flash tool to extract kernel?
Sorry, new on M4....

This is how I did it with mine I included the rooting process too.
1.) Download flashtool and install all the drivers that is provided by flashtool (They're in the Flashtool/drivers folder in your C drive, I believe) In order to install the drivers, you have to disable windows 8 or 10's driver signature verification (to do that, open up settings then click "update and recovery then click the "recovery" option then click "advanced reboot" I don't know if the process is the same for Windows 8 though).
2.) Download the .112 firmware using XpeiraFirm (It's included in flashtool. You can use the commercial and Journalists one).
3.) Backup your data. (Text messages, call logs, music, photos).
4.) Flash the firmware using flash tool.
5.) If you lost your imei after the downgrade process, go ahead and do a factory reset. (It's somewhere in settings.).
6.) Download the rootkit and the TWRP(custom recovery) installer from this guide. Place them in the folder where you have the ADB and fastboot executable and then run the rootkit first then run the TWRP installer after.
7.) If you wish to update your firmware, just refer to the link in number 6 as there, you'll find the pre-rooted zip which you can use to update your phone to the latest firmware.
Good luck!

Downgrade 2353 to .112 Firmware and Root.

Hello guys!
I am very new to this sony stuff and I decided to root my phone. I have the e2353 model and I planned to use flash tool to flash the .112 firmware I got from xperia blog. But, flash tool detects the downloaded tft as a tft for the xperia M2 2303 model. Should I go ahead and flash this one? One more thing, When I attempt to flash it, flash tool complains that it has finished processing "loader.sin" with errors then says I should install the correct flashtool drivers for my device. I believe that one can be fixed by just simply installing the drivers included in flashtool's "drivers" folder, yes?
Thank you!

Try searching Xperifirms for the files. Better be safe - flashing a wrong tft files means a bricked device... Also :
"Instructions
I found this guide very helpful and thus you can refer it here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
SOME CONSIDERATIONS :
1.Make sure you choose the FTF file for your device or you can risk bricking your phone forever.
At the moment, there are no FTF files so you will need to be patient.
2. Make sure all drivers are properly installed
3. To boot into flashmode/fastboot, you will need to turn off device.Hold volume up OR volume down and then connect your device while holding the volume key.
Volume up would take you to flashmode while volume down would take you to fastboot mode. Remember, you will need fastboot/flashtool drivers before you can flash anything.
here is another guide for you just as reference.

Do I set it to "unpack automatically" or no?

E5823 Root on 32.4.A.1.54

Hi guys
I'm really struggling on this one. I've installed flashtool, flashboot, sony mobile flasher, drivers, unlocked the bootloader... all this is working... but....I can't root this phone
I've followed no less than 5 guides and some I just cant follow and some just don't work.
Can anyone explain to me how, in simple steps, to root the Xperia Z5 Compact which is currently on 32.4.A.1.54 firmware? (The phone is from the UK).
Please help
Del
Did you follow this guide?
IIRC, I had to patch boot.img to get the root access. I did it once, don't need re-patching and can later flash Magisk with no problems. Not sure if the method is still true.

I hadn't seen this post before but still unable to root. Here was my progress on it:
Step 1 - Complete (Once I managed to fix the 0db out of date error)
Step 2 - Had done this previously so no need to do again? (Tried anyway FAILED (remote: 'Device is already rooted'))
Step 3 - Downloaded E5823_Customized UK_32.4.A.1.54-R3E
Step 4 - Complete
Step 5 - Complete
Step 6 - Complete
Step 7 - FAIL - "Could not find device key in TA_E5823_CB5A28FR44_12112020-1347.img (Unit 0x1046B)"
Then tried continuing:
Step 8 - FAIL - "fastboot: error: Couldn't parse partition size '0x'"
Any ideas?
James
I proceeded it in the early day so I guess the fw version may affect the process. Some posts on that thread also report successes with a Marshmallow fw. You can try on an older fw from step 3 to get an operational rooted 6.0 z5c then flash a .54 ftf and magisk later. I believe I did that way but my memory can fool me.
Hope you can find a link of an old fw.
That's it! Nougat can't be rooted!
1. Flash TWRP 3.2.1 via flashtool
2. Prevent the phone from booting up the system
3. Go into recovery mode
4. Flash a recent magisk .zip
5. profit
At least, that's what I remember. Sorry if this doesn't work.
