CyanogenMod request/looking for devs - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

Hi all! I think that all owners of M4, already noticed that tonystark88, doesn't continues his project (without any reason, or at least we don't know). Anyway, I'm wondering about finishing for eg CM13. Unfortunately my skills in "androidstuff" are not big enough to handle it. They're kinda more big than "basics" but still not so big to develop ROM. Going to point, I'm just looking for people to start new or continue one of existing projects and make working CM12.1/13 for our M4. Since I have the device, and my knowledge is enough to test stuff and recover from softbrick, I think that I can be a kind of tester. So even if there is someone who is experienced enough to make it, but doesn't have a device and don't want/doesn't have money to buy device (for many reasons), then I can test everything and provide needed informations to make this possible. If anyone is interested in it, just thumb up there, send me a PM or comment thread. We can give new life for this "crappy" phone guys!
Best regards
David

Hmm that depends on few things but that what i know from P9 Lite developement i think that it can be easily enabled or disabled by command in build.prop. Anyway i think that first let's make at least working for one sim Because for now, it's crappy bugged even on single variant

[Q] is there any work out there to get 4.4.4 to work on AM2?

Just wondering if we can get CM11 or something else on here and if it will work?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
For CM11 you'd probably have to message their team and see I'd they can help us out. I'm sure the version of KK that's released for the Chinese version of this phone could be ported but it seems like nobody can or is interested in doing it. Sadly it just seems like there's no development for this thing at all

Personally I don't see us getting KK for this device. That would be ridiculous but if they can openly post on their website that other variations of the device are getting it but will not confirm we are then I'm thinking we wont. Hopefully some of the Devs who got these things at the event can port something for us from the Mate 7 or another variation of the Mate 2

That would be really dumb if all their other phones are getting updated except the one phone they sell here. I hope they recognize this.
That being said, I wonder why they just gave out 15 of these to developers. No other company would do that lol. Their Google Plus page even said "custom ROMs are right around the corner" or something like that. Maybe we'll get an official custom ROM, like the One Plus One with its custom CyanogenMod?
Of course I'm just speculating haha, only time will tell.

Doesn't matter to me. GOING IN, I figured from the past look at Huawei, they provided little to no updates to their devices.
So, going in, I knew it wasn't going to get KK. Don't really care! JB4.3 has been ROCK SOLID with no lockups, lags, problems
of any kind. Heck, I don't even root it! It "just runs". I don't want to screw around with unstable builds, don't have time as this is
my bread & butter for work.

I am now 17, and will return to development as soon as I finish my secondary education exams (that's June 2017).

If you about porting ROM, it's not too hard while this ROM has the same chip set with this phone. In case, if you found bug after porting, this point is really hard to fix it. Therefore, fixing the bug takes a long time.

Porting ROM not too hard. Just follow this guide:

It applies if you want to port Nougat based ROM.

Thanks for the reply, @rickyyohanes626 . I'm totally new to this android development. What I was trying to say was not about porting, but about building android from source (correct me if there is a stark difference between those two). How hard would that be?

I do really appreciate your efforts for the galaxy grand 2 community, but was sad at the same time for your thread getting closed just for not mentioning the credits. But hey, I thought the community was more of a "bro"therhood. So, why consider my statements as offensive?
I know I don't even stand a chance to be up to your level of experience right now, but being a junior member here, I'm sorry if that hurt you.
I'm working on getting a Nougat themed TW ROM. And I'll be upgrading my PC sometime in the coming two weeks, so I'll start AOSP too. Lineage would be easier I guess.

It would be really hard if you find ROM that has different chip set with this phone. And also, if you wanna to obtain sources tree, you must provide a very high connection.
Another hard point is if you done port the ROM, it just not booting, you need to modify zimage (core of boot.img). In this point, you need logcat to analyze error.

Community development strength

You're a power user. Can the Honor 8 Pro keep up? Rate this thread to express how "healthy" the development scene is for the Honor 8 Pro. A higher rating indicates available root methods, kernels, and custom ROMs.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
All things including root, custom roms and custom kernels, were available when this phone was launched in India. The very next day when the phone was in my hand, I could see that there is already RROS by OpenKirin team and also the very next there was a custom Kernel. Also the source code has already been released by Huawei. So I hope there will be good development in future. The only problem that I see is the dual camera source code which has not been released by Huawei which will cause problem in custom roms. Hope the OpenKirin team will find some solution to this or atleast port the huawei camera to other roms.
And now thisnis the bad part. Development is so small. I hope it changes over time.
I hope the development will be raised soon.

If you're looking for a development-friendly phone, Honor is not the solution for you. We do have a program where we give out bootloader unlock codes to a select number of people every once in a while, but there is no official support for unlocking your bootloader. This results is a very small development community.

Will there be any development on Android 'O' for Honor 5X?

Huawei did not provided us with Nougat. But here, thanks to custom rom developers, we were able to experience Android 7 on our devices. Now to my curiosity rises a question I am sure it would have gone through your mind as well. I was wondering if custom rom developers will work on Android 8 for Honor 5X? I believe that developers might work on it but would not be nice to hear opinions from our developers?
It would be nice, but it's a old phone. It would have to be a "proof of concept" type of thing now. I remember how, for a time, how devs would put new versions of OS's on the g1. Maybe someone may throw down the gauntlet.
I'm 80% sure that Android O will come for 5X. What do you say @gopinaidu77?

I wants to show you something. After u see that "your 80% will go to 0"
On 23rd August 2016 , Honor updated their "Device Update Policy"
You can check it here.
Just compare the policy with what they did for 5x.
https://club-us.hihonor.com/blog.31/honor-announces-software-update-policy.1203 @adriansticoid
Also i am attaching a screenshot (scroll shot) about the policy.
The funny part is ,just read out the comments of dumb people there. They are in blind trust over honor. At that moment , they read the text and failed to understand the future(our present, probably now).

Pixel experience ROM for grand 2

Has the grand 2 developer are making grand 2 many ROMs...and keeping it still alive ...Is very good ...
As many developers are porting to flyme os,dotos, aim, viperos and many more ....
Is there any developer who can make a pixel experience ROM for grand 2 ...It will be very great too..
Get a close-to-stock rom like lineage and flash magisk and then, get the pixel 2 experience magisk zip. Essentially the same effect without making a whole new rom.
No. Bungee gave up G2 support cuz of that glimpser guy and a whole bunch of nooboids crashing all over those threads.
And I have no time to build it. Also Pixel experience is AOSP based as much as I know and we don't have LOS tree adapted for AOSP so it's not possible. And don't throw your "can anyone port this that" request in General section. It should be in the Q/A section tyvm.
