[ALL VARIANTS] ViPER4Android [ZIP][FLASHABLE] - LG V20 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Disclaimer: I will take no responsibility if flashing this zip somehow causes you to go deaf, hurts your cat, noise complaints from your neighbors, anti-social behavior, getting hit by a bus, your grandmother begins twerking, broken windows and/or any other imaginable royally screwed possibility.
Q&A: Yes, the Hi-Fi Quad Dac functions with ViPER4Android.
Credits: @zhuhang for ViPER4Android FX/XHiFI, and @jcadduono for working out the root shell exploit and hooking us up with TWRP.
Features: Systemwide ViPER4Android FX 2.3.4.0 (higher audio processing) and ViPER4Android XHiFi.
Installation steps:
1) Make sure you're rooted and have TWRP installed.
2) Install BusyBox, preferably to /system/xbin (otherwise XHiFi will not work, only FX will).
3) Navigate to /vendor/etc (/system/vendor/etc) and delete audio_effects.conf. ZIP has been updated to delete the file.
4) Flash the attached zip.
5) Ignore the version typo while flashing the provided zip. ZIP has been updated to correct this.
6) Ignore the the su binary warning in XHiFi.
7) Optional: Active High Impedance mode by following my guide in the Guides, News & Discussion forum. // http://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/guide-impedance-mode-activation-t3507227
8) Profit???

Any chance we can get a flashable ARISE zip or a test try from someone willing to try it? If Viper4Android works, and functions 100%, then chances are we can probably use ARISE. Would love to get a definitive on this subnect either way.

I would like for divine to work.
Just need beats and dolby and z

Arise works the only issue I can find is it is not processing over Bluetooth.
The same thing with this ZIP the OP posted... there are new versions that work not this order one that is not supported anymore

I flashed ARISE+Sound+Systems+Deuteronomy+2.3.3 and it sounds awesome. Only problem I'm having (haven't tried bluetooth yet) is that it stops processing when I either manually change tracks (doesn't stop when it goes to a song by itself) or when I alternate between players (spotify >usb audioplayer pro or vice versa). I have to toggle master power off/on to restart it.
Wonder what the fix would be for that?

Flashed file in OP+Poweramp Latest Beta. Sounds awesome

True. I've actually grown to like it more...once we get some more devs in here it will damn nice!
Do you know if anyone is working on surround sound mod? I really miss that one. I've tweaked the maixer_path myself but nothing seems to change. Its also my first go with this kinda mod. You have any knowledge in this field?

Not that I know of. As far as editing the paths it should be the same plus the DAC lines. I've done it to my Note 7. I'll mess around with it and get back to you.

Anyone have any issues with this one besides bluetooth not working?
I flashed Viper4Arise a few days ago and the processing cuts off and on. When it stops I have to reboot to make it work again.

[APP](Root Req)Viper4Android Sound

Just wanted to post that I have installed Viper4Android and it works beautifully on my rooted S5. This app is the #1 reason I root.
This app will change the way you think about sound (seriously). Every time I demo the difference to someone by turning it on and off they immediately ask me to install it for them.
Installed using directions by @docnok63, paraphrased below for your convenience. I have only tested this app on my rooted T-mobile S5, and only with spotify (it's the only player I use). Of course you should always backup first and only you are responsible for what you do to your device.
1. Ensure you are rooted. From this point on, grant all superuser requests.
2. Download ViPER4Android FX. Get the latest version under the "Android FX" heading.
3. Extract the 4.x .apk from the zip. If you haven't already, smart-install Busybox from the play store.
4. Move the 4.x .apk to root system/app using a root-friendly file browser of your choice. Reboot to reset permissions.
5. Launch the app (from your app drawer). Grant root to let it install drivers. I've always gone with super audio quality; I suppose it's up to you. It may ask you if it can modify some files to disable power saving...just let it happen. :good: Reboot again.
6. Go straight to settings/sound/music effects (at the bottom) and toggle Viper4Android as default.
7. Open root system/build.prop using a file explorer and text editor with root access. You change three lines of code as follows. Some may already have been changed.
Code:
Ipa.decode=true should read Ipa.decode=false
tunnel.decode=true to tunnel.decode=false
lpa.use-stagefright=true to lpa.use-stagefright=false
8. Save the file and reboot once more. Open the Viper4Android app and have at the sound settings; play around until you find what works for you (just make sure to check "Enable" :highfive. You can edit the settings as you have music playing. When you get it where you want it, toggle the enable button and see how far you've come.
You can explore the main app thread here for some ideas on customization.
All credit due to @viper520, @zhuhang, and @docnok63.
All I did was paraphrase. Hope this helps someone!
Mine still doesn't work D: followed these instructions exact I'm not sure where I'm going wrong.
EDIT: Does work, just doesn't work in the default Samsung galaxy music app.

I have not been able to get this to work with the stock app on any version of KK but it works fine with Poweramp. Just have all EQ and processors in Poweramp turned off and in Poweramp settings/audio/advanced tweaks make sure everything is unchecked.

WOW...it works here for me. At first it didn't. I looked for updates and it offered v2.3.3.0 Installed that and it's really noticeable with my ear buds. This is with Google music player. I have PowerAmp premium too. Have not tested on that but it for sure works with the latest APK I referenced and it is installed as a system app. One of those build.prop edits was already set while the other two needed to be changed, just an FYI. If you aren't on the latest APK, update. I am on the latest update of Alliance ROM here on my T Mobile S5 variant....fyi.
Hi guys can someone tell me what to do if i cant find the build.prop stated above on my device?
do i have to make the new one or to leave it as it be?
since i dont feel any difference and when i change the preset i dont feel any changes so please help me i would be very gratefull thx a lot

It's in system folder. You need to use an appropriate method of editing that allows you to change from read only to read write. Also for me you have to be running 2.3.3.0 version of Viper. And finally, at least for me, I set this up and it runs until I also use the app Poweramp. Seems as soon as I use PowerAmp with the equalizer on, it breaks the functionality within 2 seconds of starting any song. If you use the menu function while running the Viper app, look at driver staus which not only shows the version but if you are running a song it will say yes to processing which verifies the app is running. (build prop editor by JRummy Apps in Playstore is free and works great) (Of course Root Explorer is my all time favorite, paid app that has a ton of functions, including editing)
So it didn't work for me, unless deleted the mod and installed everything from scratch as a normal app instead of a system one. To make it work with Poweramp, had to enable " compatible mode", add "music fx" button to "tone/vol" screen and turn it on. Now it works.
Anyone here having trouble with signal after flashing this mod?
Or is it just me

Hey, I can't get it to stick. It keeps asking to install the driver. My rom is "Project Infinity". I tried to move it to system/app but it says it's read only. I have busy bus installed. I don't know what to do, can someone please help me?

Viper4Android on custom roms

I've been trying to get viper working on alliance rom and have had nothing but issues. It keeps telling me after I install the drivers and reboot the phone, that the drivers still need to be installed. I used the viper4android.zip so it was installed as a system app. Just don't know what the problem may be. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am on Alliance ROM, too and it's working for me, man. I didn't set it as a system app. Just installed it like a normal app. I've had better LSOUND QUALITY not disabling LPA WHEN IT ASKS IF YOU WANT TO.
I have tried as both a system and user application with no luck.

I've fixed the build prop. Installed first as system app and kept getting that the driver needed to be installed. So i trues as a user app and still am in the driver loop.

Yeah, I've been trying to get it to work on the AllianceROM as well. Once in a blue moon it would work. I turn check "Enable" and if I hear that it didn't turn on (I already have my settings set up), then I uncheck it, close the app, and open it again and start the whole process. SOMETIMES this works, and SOMETIMES it doesn't.

Same here man, same here. :/ This should be something simple but it's not. I want it to work with the stock music player instead of having to install another one, cause some say it works with the stock music player, and for others, it says it doesn't work and they had to install another player. This is an annoying issue lol, I'll for sure request it. It'll make the ROM even better.
Try enabling full content logging for SuperSU to see if Viper4Android is encountering any errors. I have Viper running perfectly on my S5 on a Stock Based self made ROM.
Viper was a serious pain to setup on Custom ROMs with this phone..i finally got it by being persistent and not giving up..just kept starting from scratch and finally got it..Thing was after getting it running...i personally thought my music sounded better without it..so i took it off..but I probably didn't know what I was doing and didn't have it set correctly. .

"thought my music sounded better without it" lol sorry but i MUST laugh at that. You are right in saying you didn't know what you were doing. Viper4Android is the best thing an audiophile could do to their phone
In terms of setting it up, its quite simple. Ensure busybox is installed (a real, well built custom ROM has this already) and you simply run the app and it does everything for you.

Well as I said..i doubt I had all the settings set correctly for optimum listening..nor did I care to take the time to fine tune them or read through the 100 's of posts within its thread to learn. There must be something more to it than what I heard because of all the people that swear by it like you..i am not putting it down..I was just saying I have no problems listening to my music without it and it sound great to me.
But for you say all you have to do is install the app and go is not true for all as I have experienced going through the install process. After you install viper did you install drivers then after that diable LPA and then reboot ...? And yes there is a huge difference as far as how loud and clear it is . If you set it up properly and take the time to toggle settings to your preference you will never go without it again .If you listen to music at very low volumes and aren't that into sound quality then don't use it but youre missing out.
What is not working for you .. Did you go to settings then sound and set viper as your music effect as default?
It's strange...on my One and N5 it only works in the google play music app. On this phone it works on every app that outputs sound. This is amazing lol. You have no idea how happy I am to finally listen to my music in decent quality.

It's worth a shot. Especially if you use headphones alot. I personally think that stock sounds ok at best. It's not loud enough and you don't have high quality sound drivers. Make sure it's allowed in super user also. That could be your issue. Don't listen to any of the ass hole comments on here. Some people forget they were noobs once and that they didn't always know everything

Glad you got it working. On top of viper I always and I mean always use a volume increase mod. That along with viper makes it not only louder but really brings out viper. . My $14 skull candy ear buds sound Frick in amazing. I'll never buy beats. I don't know why Samsung and other brands don't incorporate better sound into their firmware. I guess they don't want to be held responsible for someones ear drums exploding lol.

Arise sound mod alternatives

Okay I know Arise sound mod is pretty much the golden standard and as a matter of fact that's what I'm using atm. But with the development being simply great under RN3P, I'm finding myself flashing roms/updates every other day and while the TB is handy and some other apps to get my phone up and running in no time, it's not exactly the same for the Arise Sound Mod (ASM). You have to go through it's little niggling process to install it again and set it however you like. If it was just a matter of flashing an extra zip I wouldn't be raising this issue, and while I reckon it's something that takes like 5mins to be done, sometimes I'm so lazy I couldn't be arsed to do it (I know I'm a lazy bump). So I was thinking is there any alternative out there? Before ASM I recall Poweramp did leave a good impression on me and I may be going back to it and taking the premium version, but I wanted to know what do you guys think? Any other app or mod out there can be installed more easily?
Well nothing beats arise in terms of the sound quality that it gives. If you find it hard to get the configs going Everytime when flashing a new ROM, then you can use TiBu to backup data for the arise apps and then restore the data after flashing the mod and then a simple reboot will get you back on track.
This is IMHO 10X Better. Flash Nero Version and equalize all with Viper.

You can only backup the app data and configuration of like your settings for viper app and Dolby...You cannot backup the whole thing with TiBu...Just reflash the mod and restore data for it's apps....

Eh..what?
Also to OP: why suggest the usage of the v4a that everyone uses in magisk?.. it's the one most of us use anyways and most if not all ROMs use it, it's the go-to systemless v4a...
seems a waste of a thread tbh, but whatever keeps you happy is worthwhile

Eh. Was letting people know that it works. There are several versions on there. Is that a bad thing?

Ofc not, don't get me wrong, but it is the only updated one on magisk... Maybe it's just me but I've always had this version, across all phones, it's the only one that always support the latest unity... But I guess for ppl that use the system installed driver versions of v4a you gave em a wake-up call to switch over to magisk based v4a!
It's good in a way then I guess, sorry if I came of as mean
My apologies.
Don't even remember I wrote yesterday, jeez, stupid beers. Hope I did not offend any, if I did, remember, I'm the fool L

No worries. Your right though.
But there are still many new comers. Some extra info never hurts.
Viper is a must have for me. Along side with a stock android. Oxygen os is the closest thing.

Flash via MagiskManager, then reboot. Working.
Tested it, working on Andriod Pie Oxygen OS Ver. 9.

I've tried installing this way but there is no app showing up. How is this supposed to work through Magisk? Am on OOS 9 with elementalx kernel fwiw.
Works here....but first times don`t.
Had to get out of the Viper4 until it starts.....
Using it with Poweramp!

Don't reboot. Just toggle on-off, then exit, then re-enter. Works for me to re-enable
I've been on the V4A bandwagon for years now. Was so relieved when someone created Magisk modules for it. I too have issues with it stopping working. What I've found is if you reboot the phone, the first thing you open is V4A. Then open the audio app you want to play. But let's say I switch from Shuttle to Spotify - then V4A stops working. Even if I close everything and open V4A first. A reboot solves it.
Then I have issues when using Bluetooth. Example.. in my car if I have the phone freshly rebooted and V4A open, once it connects to my car V4A processes fine. Turn the car off to pump gas, start the car back up, no V4A. Another reboot. It's super annoying. On my previous phone, what solved this was staying in compatible mode. I've tried everything and I can't get around this. Wish I knew how to fix.

Usually just exit the app and reopen fixes it. I'm not having any issues with it tho. My V4A stays open while listening to music

Amazing profile, makes my $10 Sony headphones sound like they costed $100+
Anyone is having a play store notification for this app? It says that it's not a safe app. I know it's a magisk module, but I've never had a notification about any magisk module in last month's. Does anyone know how to fix it? Thank you!!!

Yes I have had it also, but only since yesterday. I have disable play protect now. However viper is still not processing.

Setting selinux to permissive did the job for me
Everytime I play music on my phone v4a doesn't directly work, I have to open the app hit exit from the 3 dot menu and then open it again for it to work. Is this just how it is? Or can I do something or install something to make it work just all the time?

Question Viper audio on Pixel 6 - works sometimes

Anyone had success getting Viper working? I installed Viper4Android FX, used SELinuxModeChanger to enable permissive mode, and set legacy mode to on in Viper's settings. Usually it works but sometimes it just doesn't. Any idea why some songs don't play through Viper?
Yes. With this repack.
https://github.com/programminghoch10/ViPER4AndroidRepackaged
And these
https://github.com/jadilson12/Viper4Android-presets
I've been using xtrememusicpro more lately though. Been redoing my set up too often to take the time to get viper just right every time.
No idea about certain songs but everytime I set it up it was hot and miss if it worked at all. Was happy to find that repack when I did. I was frustrated enough to just avoid it all together.

Did you replace post-fs-data.sh? You need to in order to make it stick.

How do you use these presets? Which folder do you put them in?

Maybe this is will help? I don't remember if I used it or not. The presets/profiles are tuning of the setting for different headphones. In think I manually copied them where they needed to go IIRC. I haven't used it in a while. I started using xtrememusic instead for simplicity. I Flash my phone way too mess around with viper every time.
