What exactly do you mean when you say you can't roll back after taking PJ2? Do you mean that I wouldnt be able to flash earlier versions with odin, even if i wipe the phone?

PJ2 uses Bootloader 4 so you can only flash firmware that uses that Bootloader. Like the Latest Version of the G930U can be flashed.
So you wouldn't be able to flash earlier ones correct even if you wipe

I can confirm this, I was stock and took the pj2 update. Decided to tinker with an eng boot loader and it went south. Wasn't able to odin and previous versions and ended up going to sprint for them to flash pj2. Now we have pj2 to download ( thanks @colin0998 ) so, onward with more tinkering.

Please bold and highlight the difference between CSC and Home CSC. I accidentally read past it (at my own fault) and reset my device. I understand that this is my own doing but please do something to draw attention towards it so others dont make the same mistake.

I know everybody hates sammobile.com, but PJ2 is up on there now as well:

can u upload only home csc ?
please

Has this rom been rooted and if so, where?

Thank you.
I needed this badly. I had rooted my s7 with the engineering boot loader and it decided that it would not participate in the carrier network AND reboot at will. Then it decided to spin on the LTE Full Speed splash screen until the battery drained. I did have root over adb and it did work, but something went sideways. I will skin this cat but the day is not today.
One thing to note: The Odin supplied in the download link did not work for me. It would start and then exit very quickly with some unidentified unicode dialog box. I had to go and find another copy of Odin 3.12 from elsewhere which did work.
I'm back to stock and everything is more or less calm with the exception of the sprint and samsung bloatware. I mean, seriously, why are one or more shopping apps in the priv-app install anyway?
:good:

Has anyone been able to root this firmware yet?

custom
i installed the eng root also and went back to this one but it still says custom..any suggestions? thanks

Im not using Sprint SIM card. I dont live in the US, and was able to use my SIM card normally before flashing this.
If I flash the 930U compatible with bootloader 4, will I get cellphone signal?

Were you originally on 930U before flashing PJ2? If so, was your S7 already unlocked or did you have it unlocked?

I bought an unlocked sprint cellphone on ebay and shipped it to Brazil. It came with sprint rom, and i flashed 930U PEH.
After that, I tried flashing 930P PF2, without success.
Then I tried flashing 930U PEH again, still no success.
Then I flashed this PJ2, it booted normally, but no more cellphone signal.

You probably lost your unlock during all of that. This has happened to me before. I had an unlock done on 930P then went to 930U and the unlock was still there. But once i went back to 930P I had lost the unlock so had to have it done again.
You might be in the same situation where after all of those flashes back and forth it became locked again. Suggestion is to install 930P PJ2, root it, then use an unlock service. Once done it will be unlocked. You can install 930U if you want afterwards if you do not want the Sprint bloat.

Is it possible to unlock AT&T i717 for use allover the world

I bought this used i717 which was alleged to have been unlocked.
Android 4.0.4
Baseband i717UCLF6
Kernel 3.0.8
The phone can't recognize a Tmobile sim, nor could it recognize an AT&T sim or a few international sims for that matter.
I attempted flashing a few tmo radios from this site but it would not budge.
I reflashed an AT&T radio but it still can't see the AT&T sim.
Finally, I had thought of returning it to as it came out of the box condition and see if it'll see the AT&T sim.
At that point I'd start from a known platform, but of course my ultimate goal is to use it on the tmo network here in the US and any international GSM network as in an N7000 when I am traveling.
Any thoughts on this plan?
Are there files out there to make a stock AT&T i717 (or from the state it is now in) operate on a tmo network?
Are there any files out there to make it operate internationally ( from a stock AT&T condition or from the state it is in right now)?
THA.
Nothing you did so far or plan to do will unlock the phone.
Either you buy a code from ebay, etc. or call at&t and ask for the code. Then put a non at&t sim in the phone, start the phone, and when it requests the code, enter it. Then you are unlocked.
Once the phone is unlocked successfully, search the Super Everything stickie for the procedure to run on tmobile network.
It sounds like you got a bum phone. It should recognize the AT&T SIM with no problem whether it is unlocked or not.
Since it doesn't see any SIM, plus the fact that it's used, makes me think that the SIM card slot is broken or malfunctioning.
I'd return it if you can and get your money back.

Assuming that it was never unlocked as the seller claimed, I did buy an unlock code yet the phone fails to ask for an unlock code when I turn it on with a tmo sim.or any sim other than AT&T.

It did see the AT&T sim one night and I actually made a few test calls from and to the phone.
After an attempt or more to install a tmo radio the following day, the phone could not see any sim.
That is why I am thinking that putting everything back the way it was out of the box will give me a known point to start from.
I then could try to install any SW needed for tmo.
Thanks.
Thats the usual troubleshooting process. The stock rom and modem is in the Super Everything stickie as well.

I managed to do it and it is now at the stage seen in the enclosed picture.
Does everything look in order?
Yet the phone can't see the sim.
Any thoughts on what to do next other than replacing the sim carrier?
If you want just call att like I did and request the unlock code, they gave it to me in 5 minutes. I've never had att service, using mine on tmobile.
Don't pay to unlock the phone, just read here if the above fails. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37357905
When my sim stopped detecting, you have to odin to stock to repair the EFS partition, and be careful which radios you flash. I use the ATT UCMD3 on tmobile and it gets LTE.

The phone is already unlocked.
When the phone is turned on with the tmo sim in it, the phone does not ask for an unlock code but still it does not see any sim.
So with it not seeing any SIMS, try and grab the uclf6 stock rom to reflash through odin.
Fixed my sim card not showing in the phone after many tmobile and att radio flashes.
Also the super everything thread is located here for i717. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43498032
Try using odin to restore to stock UCLF6 or the newer stock JB UCMD3 then use odin to flash on twrp recovery. Then flash your chosen rom.

Sorry about the triple qoute. Stupid 3rd party forum apps.
Did you actually use odin to flash in download mode and factory restore it? That would reflash everything at once including the baseband to a known working one. If it doesn't work after that, then its a hardware problem.

Sounds to me like a hardware issue then.
Odin will factory restore your phone to whichever file you use. You are using a 2.3.6 stock restore. There are 4.0.4 and now 4.1.2 stock files to flash through odin as well. You put into download mode and run odin and select pda option, find your stock rom and click start.
You can try restoring to a newer stock rom to see if it fixes it, although you did try this. Any stock restore should bring your baseband back. Sim works in your other phone so not the sim then?
There are a couple other pages here referring to no sim detected. Google search "no sim card detected i717 xda" and read a couple threads.
Otherwise what you did should make it work. Are all 6 gold contacts attached where the sim slides in? Not the card itself but under the guide where they contact the phone.

[Odin][Odin Flashable - Bootloader/Modem][G900TUVS1FOL1]Updated 2/1/16

Made this for myself, and noticed other people wanting it. If you are in anyway unsure of what your doing, please don't flash Odin packages. I'm not on here all that often to answer questions, so please refer to aaricchavez's thread as I'm sure the same questions will be asked.
I was able to flash by pulling the battery, then vol-dwn + home + pwr. Choose vol-up for downloader and flash. Worked on the second try. See screenshots bellow.
What you do to your phones on you, consider this: Warning flashing Bootloader/Modem/ FULL FIRMWARE LOLLIPOP
Updates seem to work best after a shutdown and battery pull. If camera stops working, clear your caches and reboot.
Flashable in Odin:
Bootloader/BL:
FOL1 Bootloader
FOL1 Bootloader
Phone/CP:
FOL1 Modem
FOL1 Modem
TWRP Recovery:
Recovery
My Customized Recovery:
2.8.7.0 Recovery
I have tried numerous times to install bootloader but it stays on dob1. I got the modem just fine. Don't understand why

I've tried updating my bootloader& modem as well as the firmware in Odin 3.09 & 3.10 & all it keeps doing is failing can someone PLZ help
The only way I've been able to flash the last few modems and bootloaders is by pulling the battery, and even then It may take a few times. DOB1 took me 4 or 5 times.
And if your wondering, the modems a huge improvement. At least for me anyways. I'm up in the hills of the SF east bay and got very spotty LTE before, no longer an issue.
Could I use flashfire to flash the boot and modem?
Edit, I know it's possible to flash full firmwares but not sure about boot and modem

Yup. On rare occasion partitions respond in strange ways to odin flashing, ie. partitions other than what you're flashing become unwriteable. But for the most part that's a rarity.

As of 10/10/15 FOG6 is, I just uploaded.
thanks for this. just realized today there was an update.. only a one letter difference, took a while to realize it!
can someone upload the new one?
Just wanted to add this. Was having a hard time flashing BL and CP
1. removed the sd card (tmobile thing I read somewhere)
2. took off the md5 off the file name so it was just a .tar file
3. put both files in to oden 3.11 and on the first flash had auto reboot NOT checked, then pulled the USB cable and pulled Battery.
4. then booted to download mode with cable in and and battery in and reflashed with auto reboot checked.
I installed omega rom v20 and I had a bootloop because I didnt have a 6.x.x bootloader and modem.
I came from 4.x.x and I almost just installed a stock 6.x.x to get the updated BL and CP, then root that.
I have had good luck with omega, but I use TB to clean out all the Samsung stuff. I purchased the App for $7, worth every penny.

Have you tried the patched version of ODIN? To go back to stock, you really should fully wipe the device or you risk running into a lot of issues with carrier settings, features, APN's, etc., not working.
Just to chime in about wiping. When I reverted back, and didn't manually wipe in recovery, I had no navigation bar. Even though Odin will wipe depending on which CSC you use, I'd still suggest a wipe.

I believe as long as you do a full clean flash, the software update will function normally. By full clean flash I mean flashing the CSC and not HOME_CSC, and flashing userdata if that was included in your firmware, although I'm not sure if that part affects this or not. But the CSC, which will wipe your data by the way, should set everything straight I believe. It has worked for me.

Oh, you said you flashed the firmware package, so did it have four or five different files inside the package, like AP, BL, CSC etc? You put each file in the respective slot in Odin, and instead of using HOME_CSC, use CSC, which will wipe your data but it will line up the customer code with the firmware so that updates should work as normal.

Unbrand my note 8

So I purchase this note 8 5 months ago it is a Tmobile Note 8. I recently updated to the latest security patch. I came across this unbrand tutorial and downloaded the patched Odin, XAA rom, BL,CSC, AP. While I try to flash my note 8 in download mode Odin just start and end in a few seconds. Nothing happening in my phone. No error code either.
So is it not possible to flash unbranded firmware now due to locked bootloader? I saw article that saying flashing carrier unlocked firmware will brick the phone.

1. You need patched Odin
2. PC needs recent Samsung USB drivers
3. Check the downloaded file's integrity (for corruption)
XAA can be flashed to any SD model. I used CSA1 on mine, but currently using TMO fw. Phones with locked loaders will generally accept signed packages.

Assuming I have the right firmware, ap, black, CSC, and my phone in download mode, when I press start in Odin nothing happen on my phone nor the progress bar in odin. No error code for odin as well. It says something like fail to execute.

Alright I might download the 3.13.1_3B and try now. Does using home CSC affect the flags because I dont want to wipe my drive yet. I was hoping pie update will kinda fix what might be mess up during the flash

Did it detect your phone? Normal Odin won't work for conversions.

DON'T use home csc unless you're flashing the same carrier fw (tmo -> tmo). You need the other one (oym). And yeah, it'll erase everything.

I will have to wipe everything then. Another dumb question, is there anyway to backup the phone? I used to own a note 3 and it does through kies. Does note 8 backup through kies as well.

Before wiping anything manually unlink your Google account (frp) and Samsung account. You can backup most things with Smart Switch. Some apps or fames store files in /root/Android/. No clue about Kies, never tried it.

Something isn't right. Did you install the current Samsung drivers? You also need to fill everything (AP, BL, etc).
Edit: Try another USB port. Preferably USB2. Also check the archive you downloaded in 7zip, it might be corrupted.

Sadly all the usb port on my laptop is usb 3. I download the firmware from Samfirm twice, tried it both didnt work now checking it with 7zip as im typing.
Alright 7zip says no errors.
Just to clarify, the I have bootloader v5 does that inhibit my ability to flash unbranded firmware?
I have RMVP provisioned and RMVP fuse blown on the download screen and Qualcomm secure boot on, i dont know if it matter to the flash. I have read some thread windows 10 might be one of the reason it fails. I dont know. I might start from removing my google account and try.

You need to get to a USB2 port. None of my Type C phones function correctly when plugged into the USB3 port.
Downgrading BL isn't possible, but you can switch to a fw with the same BL version. My N8 was on the Sept patch (TMB) before I moved to CRL2. Windows 10 can cause conflicts on some setups. I'm an insider so using a test build of W10, not the normal one.
The reason you should remove the account is just to avoid placing a Google lock on your own phone.

- To flash an unbranded firmware (U1) download this patched Odin https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=890129502657595813
- Then you can go from CRL1 to CRL2 flashing this firmware through Odin https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603907794 take a backup using Smart Switch, you can keep it in your sdcard, don´t forget to enable USB debugging in developer options, go to recovery manually or use adb reboot recovery to be sure that pc is detecting device properly, format data and reboot to bootloader (according recovery stock menu) and flash the files using CSC_OYM (you need to format your actual CSC).
- Till here is done and you´ll receive an OTA notification to update to the latest Oreo CSA1 (aproximately 46MB) but if you want to go to Pie betas don´t update it and download this zip and flash it in recovery https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603909037
- And this is the latest Pie beta update available for unbranded Note8 https://firmware.science/download?url=00000/0000/SS-N950U1UEU5ZSAB-to-EU5ZSBB-UP
