Which twrp version on 7.1.1? - Nexus 6P General

I got the dev preview going. Unlocked bootloader. Tried to flash twrp 3.0.2-2 through fastboot commands. Looked like it went well but when I try and boot into recovery I got the droid with red triangle.
Am I using the right version or doing it wrong? Also when I get twrp up and going, what's the best root file to flash? I wanna pixelize my 6p.
Thanks !!

So I had a similar issue. I flashed the OTA and forgot to flash SU before the reboot. This is why you can not get TWRP to flash. To fix this use Wug's tool kit found here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/development/toolkit-wugs-nexus-root-toolkit-v2-1-0-t3258493.
In stall tool kit on PC and when prompted for android version select ANY, should be the last choice on the list (don't select the version you have i.e 7.0, 7.0 etc). Then click root with TWRP and wait for it to go through the process. Now you will have TWRP working and SU in stalled. It will install the latest versions of both, so no worries there.
Good luck!

Thanks for the response. I've used wugfrsh for years. When I try to use it this time it reboots to bootloader fine but when it says the device is booting temporarily into twrp the phone never does it. It just stays in BL screen.
Edit...think I got it. Thanks for your help. Needed to change to "any build".
If you dont mind. Did you get all the pixel mods running? Assist, camera, etc? Which method did you follow? I see multiple methods available with some issues here and there.
Thanks again.

Did you select the any version of android? That is odd, it worked fine for me on 7.0 and 7.1.1. Did you run it as admin? Try tuning off you Anit-virus, in the past that interfered for me unlocking HTC bootlodaers
Perhaps a different tool kit would work for you.

Without root TWRP won't stick.

Yes, I have the camera working. Got it from the app thread, as well as the launcher. For assistant to work I just did the build prop edit.
Find: ro.product.model=Nexus 6P and change it to
ro.product.model=Pixel XL
Then add this line:
ro.opa.eligible_device=true
save and reboot. Long press home and set it up.
Here for apps http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/themes-apps/pixel-skin-apps-t3486186
For me, the round icons did not work so well.

Boot ani is good, deleted the stock one and just copy and paste into system>media> set permissions and reboot.
In the app thread there is a black version of the boot ani as well, I prefer the stock white

Well if you downgrade, a full wipe would be in order. I for one had fc's on 7.1.1. I did a full wipe and clean install of the system image. All is well now except for amazon app store. But this is no surprise as it did this with the 7.0 preview as well, I can live with this. It will be updated soon enough.

You want unofficial twrp 3.0.2-3. See this thread for details and a download link.

Cydia Substrate for android!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.saurik.substrate
I'm just about to install myself and check it out. I loved using this on my ipod touch, and can now share the love with my android. It seems like a good alternative to Xposed!
Update: So far been running without a hiccup. I installed Cydia Substrate and Winterboard and they work flawlessly. UI/UX of the the apps can use some polishing, but so can every initial release!
Not what I expected.

So I am an Apple fanboy lol (Although I've always loved Android too, just always had iPhones). So you can imagine my excitement when Winterboard came to the play store.
After I downloaded both substrate and Winterboard, I tried activating one of my Icon themes. After I hit "Restart Zygote" the phone rebooted like normal, but once it was back on, all my apps were crashing. I couldn't open anything. Once I restarted my phone, I was stuck in a boot loop. Tried everything I could but ended up having to re-flash stock firmware through ODIN.
I have used Winterboard on almost every iPhone I've ever owned. I upgraded from the iPhone 5 to the Galaxy S4. I have about 4 years of jailbreaking under my belt and have never had this happen with Winterboard. I'm 99% certain it was not user error, but I'm not ruling out that possibility.
Point is, I won't be using Winterboard for quite a while. Just wanted to let people know this boot loop is a possibility.
Too each their own lol. I went to android for a reason

For people having problems try this :
Google Play App Description said:
If, while using WinterBoard, you run into any problems (such as it crashes on boot, preventing your device from starting), please remember that Substrate has a safety feature built into it: you can hold your device's volume up button to temporarily disable Substrate so that WinterBoard is not loaded, and then your device boots correctly.

Yeah no that didn't work for me...the phone wasn't actually bootlooping, it just kept on booting into recovery mode. I'd actually rather it have bootlooped, in which case I could have used ADB to delete the lib file that loaded the substrate (or maybe the up-button fix would have had a chance to work).
Had to flash system img from Odin.

Just installing the apps didn't do anything harmful, it was when I went into the Substrate app and installed the framework (or whatever it is) and that's when the recovery loop started.
So you installed the framework within the app itself and it worked fine for you??

When I installed the substrate it worked fine. It was only after I selected an icon pack through winterboard and hit "restart zygote" to apply it did it start recovery looping.

In the description it says it allows you to use the themes from the play store without using custom launchers. It also says that it works with virtually all if them. To me, that implies that any one you download can be used.
Although since it is very new on Android and doesn't work the same as on iOS, I could be completely wrong haha

Mysterious File on SD

A mysterious file is always generated on my SD card no matter how many times I format it or delete the file. The file has an extension of "MOLOGIQ" and is usually named ".06ba141d-a652-464b-b7c2-0932d1a1402b.mologiq". I have a fear that it is a spyware application that's hidden in my phone. I really can't seem to get rid of it. Any help understanding this or getting rid of it is much appreciated. My phone is rooted, S-OFF, 4EXT. This occurs on any ROM/kernel and even with full wipes and formatting I can't seem to get rid of it.
Just from googleing it comes up as stealth mode start up advertising, which sounds like a load of crap, don't know how or where you got it but it don't sound good
thisis50.com if its hot its here
If a full wipe doesn't fix it, all I could suggest is formatting SD again, through your PC, then run the ruu

I'm a flashaholic if that's how you spell it. v.v
It shows up on any ROM I use. Even on the ROMs that have full wipe aroma, I've even used ROMCleaner, and all the wipes in 4EXT, including SD. Thanks for the suggestion guys. If anyone else has anymore I can try, you're more than welcome.
Can I use a logcat to detect this app? Maybe format or delete the file and turn on the logcat and then wait until a it returns and find the item in the log?

This is not even working fully yet. I lost track of this due to working on GPE ROM. When I have more time I can check why it is not fully working.
From what I have seen the only way to ad other devices would be for LG to allow it. LG encrypts their IR blaster so only devices listed in the quickset device profile work if LGs IR blaster unless someone can crack the encryption. You can search play store for quickset and install the version from play store to see if it has more devices but IR not working yet on AOSP based ROMs yet.

Oh okay, I take it the reason it was working before is because then I was on LG's ROM not an AOSP rom? If this is case, would the backup I made of the LG ROM be of any use? I could pull out the quick remote app or something.
I don't know much about coding for android devices but I can still help. Let me know what I can do to get this project rolling again!

The app is from the LG ROM... Going to have to debug more and see what's going on. You can use the Android SDK or app from play store to see logcat output and see where the errors are. I just don't have time to work on it right now...

Okay, thanks. I don't know how to edit any code in these apps so I'll leave it people who do. In the mean time I'll search for solutions others may have found. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

I no longer have v500, returned it and waiting for my v510 to get here. Hopefully we can figure something out that works on both models.
If you check in the G2 themes and apps forum there is a way to get QRemote working with AOSP ROMs and maybe the same method and/or files will work on G Pad.

My friend got it working on his g2 by just download an apk, but trying to put that apk on a v500 (running cm11) unfortunately does not work.
I reckon you'd need a lot of LG framework in order to make this work on AOSP. I wont stop you tho, would be neat. ^^

Stuck in Update Mode

I just bought (from Craigslist) a new still in plastic V10 two weeks ago. I came across this thread shortly afterwards, so I rooted my phone and froze a few Verizon apps last weekend. When I flashed the first time, I flashed the .tot file without flashing the .kdz file, which made my phone unable to receive texts. I had to factory reset, flash .kdz, then flash .tot. Root worked fine all week, and I used Titanium to freeze most of the Verizon apps. During the past week the second screen stopped working. I read in another forum post here on xda that it sometimes freezing those apps causes the second screen to stop working, and it takes a factory reset to get it working again. Today I did a factory reset, then flashed the .11b kdz file, the the .tot root file to do that all again. Everything was going fine, but somehow in the process I started downloading the Verizon update- MM I assume. I have pulled the battery numerous times to stop it, but every time I reboot it starts up again. It says the file size is 988MB. I can't get it to stop, and I cannot get my Windows 7 computer to see the phone now with LG Up (says there is no handset connected).
Is it possible to stop the update? It is at approximately 25% now. What can I do to get my computer to see it again?
Thanks for any help!
I have it fixed, thanks anyway.

Since I wasn't sure what broke second screen I had unfrozen everything.
Btw Laserwolf, thanks for your video on requiring this phone. It made the process much easier being able see it done while doing it.

After studying this phone if u disabled the dqsl it will take down the second screen. Only way to fix it is to restore your phone by factory reset. If you uninstalled it. You might as well use the tot file

No problem. Also in the picture shown here don't disable that service shown in this pic. It will mess up quick memo. And if you did just enable it. If you want to debloat your phone and have a question feel free to ask. I debloated my v10 and get a 53,070 on mine. Cool thing when i debloated. I can charge my phone via usb 3.0 port and play games on it on high brightness and still keep it charged
53,070 is from the benchmark sorry i forgot to add that
I would like to debloat, I'd there a list of what can be frozen?

Galaxy Labs AT&T S7 APK

I wanted to post this because I search several times and never found any hits but randomly found this APK somewhere that works just fine activating Galaxy Labs on the AT&T model S7. Go to advanced features after install and you should see Galaxy labs. This allows you to disable the app drawer. So it is like an iPhone home screen expect you have widgets also! No root required.
Thanks for this. Quick Dial seems like it might be a useful feature.
Wow easy install and works great thank you!

You need to click the small text on the warning page that says "install anyway (unsafe)" Or something similar to that.
Clicking OK, is basically saying you don't want to proceed.
why did you manually sign it ?
maybe edited the apk ?
Weird why the sign it alerted system. Hmm
BTW it doesn't work on AT&T Android 7.0
