I'm not sure if my phone is considered 5.1.1 or 6.0? - T-Mobile LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all.
Back when 6.0 was a new thing to install, I installed TWRP and upgraded from 5.1.1 to 6.0 rooted version. The phone is currently on H90120e and the build number is "built.with.SuperRs.Kitchen"
My question is this. Is there any way to relock and install the stock bootloader and return my device to full stock? Should I be installing a 6.0 bootloader or 5.1.1 bootloader and rom? Because even though the phone is on 6.0, I remember the TWRP and all the other the hood files were special because the install method to 6.0 was special.
Or am I just stuck with a phone permanently on a 6.0 with no way to ever take OTA updates and never be able to return my device to stock?
It's been a while since I've done romming and rooting so I apologize if I'm using the wrong terminology.

If you're ready to go back to stock, look for the KDZ file for 20J and use lgup to refurbish your phone. You could do the 20L version from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=69311017 but not many have gotten that OTA yet. I did flash the 20L zip, and have no problems, but YMMV.
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk

will using LGUP remove TWRP and also remove the error screen at bootup saying the device can't be checked for corruption?

answering my own question, i had to fastboot oem lock but asfaik my phone is completely back to stock now thank you

[Q] Updating Verizon S4

Hi guys, long time lurker but first time poster.
I'm currently on MDK, rooted with TWRP recovery, and was interested in updating to the latest OS. I have a few questions:
1) Is it currently worth the update to MJ7?
2) How would I go about resetting the recovery and Android to stock? Haven't found much info for the recovery, and I don't want to brick my phone by screwing something up, and from what I understand I have to go back to the stock recovery before updating to MJ7.
Thanks in advance!

Why would you want to update that will lock your bootloader down? You can still run all custom ROMS based on new firmware kernels without updating....I definitely would not

Don't update your bootloader. There's no reason at all to do that, and there's no going back if you do. A locked bootloader gives zero benefits, excluding perhaps KNOX but I wouldn't call that a benefit.
You can update your modem without updating your bootloader by downloading one and flashing in TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2487298
There are some improvements since MDK in those. You'll want either 1545VRUEMJ7_modem.zip or I545VRUEMK2_modem.zip from the modems only section.
If you want the latest TouchWiz, you'll need to be on MDK to get it since Verizon still hasn't released a 4.4 update. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674280
If you just want the latest android, try the GPE rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2643031
Note that if you update your modem, your phone will show *MJ7 or *MK2 in About Phone -> Baseband. That does not mean you don't have the MDK bootloader. You can always use this app to check your bootloader version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo
Bootloader -> Definitely stay on MDK.
Modem -> Go ahead and update, it won't affect your ability to flash roms or reduce your resale value. Plus, you can go backwards with modems if you want; you can't with bootloaders.

Hi everyone, i am on android 4.1.2/ 1.26.502.12. i got the phone when it came out. Back then i followed a guide similar or maybe same
[Tutorial] Root, Unlock, Recovery and flashing a Custom ROM. Now i have stock 4.1.2 rooted and bootloader unlocked with s-off
I wanted to update my firmware but because i have a custom recovery t.w.r.p i cant get updates straight from ATT.
i want to update without losing any settings or having my files deleted. How do i do that?
I have been away from modding my phone so iam not exactly fresh on everything.

Regardless of the method to do a complete update to the KitKat will require the phone and all data on it to be wiped. There is no way to avoid this. I would suggest backing all your stuff up to a PC if you wish to do this.

How do i go from rooted with custom rom to non rooted and accept OTA?

I have my T-Mobile LG V-10 rooted with Sir-Altus rom currently.
Without starting a fight or anything, I am trying to find out how I could go about restoring my phone to stock to be able to accept the Marshmellow update successfully without bricking my phone.
I understand that there is a difficulty in rooting Marshmellow and I am OK with that.
Can anyone link to a step-by-step on how to restore my phone to fully stock so I can accept the Marshmellow update and apply it?
Thank you,
Whiteice

Should be pretty straight-forward. Also as an FYI, you now CAN root you LG V10 starting from 6.0 (Marshmallow) stock. So there's really not much risk involved. I think the upgrade from 5.1.1 to 6.0 relocks your bootloader so...i don't think you have to do much. If you have an upgrade option in your settings on the phone you can take it or you can go to the LG website and download the software and follow the steps. http://www.lg.com/us/support/mobile-software-updates
Can I accept the update on the phone rooted and with TWRP installed?
"I wouldn't do it by just downloading the update and installing it through the ui", you'll probably get stuck in a boot loop on the lg logo boot screen! Try researching kdz or tot flashing! Youll then only have to click a few times on your PC and after that the file should just upgrade the phone through your USB hub
You can uodate using Eliminater74's Rom.
Flash Part 1 - Dont Reboot
Flash Part 2 - Dont Reboot
Flash Super SU
*in Eliminater74s Rom OP it says to use Fastboot again to OEM unlock. Just read it thoroughly*

How can I return to stock 7.1.1 RETEU after installing a Oreo custom ROM?

I have unlocked my bootloader, installed TWRP, and installed AospExtended v5.1 , which worked fine, except some moto mods are not working correctly so I would like to go back to stock 7.1.1.
Is it possible at all without bricking my phone? I have EU phone, so I suppose I need the RETEU zip, but I can only see it for 6.0.1 https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware...fficial/RETEU/ and I have read that after updating to 7.1.1, the bootloader is upgraded to a version that bricks your phone if you try to install MM again.
So what (and how!) to do so I can be back to 7.1.1 RETEU stock? Or I'm stuck with being able to use only custom ROMs forever?
Thanks!

No i didn't do any backup :crying:
I managed to go back to 7.1.1 using RETUS firmware, and it seems to work fine (Wifi, 4G ... in Spain) but it only boots if I go to the bootloader and select "Factory mode", otherwise it goes always to recovery. Not ideal. Any idea why?

Sorry, I don't know why... But the good news is that the Official 8.0 is "almost" near to be released and for sure this will fix your trouble because it will update the bootloader and all the other ROM stuff.
Just be patient and do not shut down the device :silly:

Question Returning Pixel 6 to Stock

I traded in my Pixel 6 for a 7!!! I'm all set up and getting the 6 ready to go back to Google. I rooted the 6 and would like to return it to stock to ensure it's accepted. So far I've uninstalled Magisk and sideloaded the OTA image that matched my current version (Android 13 September update). Now I want to relock my bootloader before I do a factory wipe but I'm concerned that if I lock it something with the other partition might lock my phone. Do you all know if flashing the OTA image updates both partitions or not? Does it sound like I'm ready to relock the bootloader and reset? Your suggestions are very appreciate... thank you guys!!!!

Android Flash Tool. With that you can wipe, go back to stock and lock the bootloader. Probably the safest way as well.
