I see much improved battery life after 9.8.77 G play services - anyone else? - Samsung Galaxy Alpha

Have had a second-hand Alpha for past 9 months, and battery life was never impressive (was prepared for that), with occasional very heavy drain (est. life half a day or less).
Have recently seen impressive improvement - Appears related to the latest Google Play Services update (9.8.77 from mid-October) - with light use of phone, G.P.S is still the biggest consumer, but with approx. three (3!) days of battery life I’m okay with that!
Has anyone experienced similar?

Finally did the OTA update... crazy good battery?

Hey guys... I finally updated my E3D with that update. My sister and dad both updated theirs when they first got it.
I'm getting really good battery life. Minimal usage yesterday, but after 16+ hours I still had more than 60%... I even played a little N64oid.
However, my sister and my dad both get pretty bad - decent battery life. My dad doesn't use the phone nearly as much as me.
I wish I knew what settings are doing it. We all have the same settings but my idle time loses me like 2-3%/hr but for them it can be up to 7-10%/hr.
Anyone in a household with more than a couple E3D's getting this varied battery life?
Settings are virtually the same, and location isn't a big factor either.
A lot of things impact battery. If the settings are the same across all phones perhaps the drain is app related. If you really want to test you should factory reset all phones and then check. This way all truly have same settings and apps. I would bet at that point they all drain the same.
I did the OTA and my battery life shot up instantly.
Before the OTA I would have around 15 hours of light to moderate use of text, calls, and browsing before it hit 50 percent. Now, I would basically do the same things but I can go a full day before it hits 70 percent.
I bet you they use the phone more...calls..facebook....etc..friend of mine gets couple hours...and he plays games non stop.

[Q] Vibrant - Gummy - Battery Life

Hi,
I installed Gummy 1.2.0 on my vibrant. The first day or two I was getting amazing battery life. For instance with light-medium use, 30% of the battery was gone in 12+ hours, I was amazed. When I was getting this type of battery life Android system was using about 6-7%.
I noticed that as time passed, the battery life started getting worse and worse. I noticed that the Android System was eating up more and more battery even when it was supposed to be in deep sleep. Now Android System is using almost 40%
Has anyone else had the same experience? Great battery life changing to mediocre battery life in a couple of days.
Please advise.
Thanks!!!
I suggest you get Betterbatterystats and that way you can see exactly what is causing the problem. It is available in the market, but there is a free version here in post 2. IIRC the AOS taking so much of your battery life is bc of some errant process that is constantly drawing/polling on the system and causing the dismally high % of use. Find the app, fix it and your problem will be solved.

[Q] HTC One X+ Overheating and Affecting Battery

Hi All
I have had my HTC One X+ for roughly 3 weeks now and just recently I noticed the phone reaching a very hot temperature, I have not measured exactly but it is significantly hotter than I have ever noticed since owning the handset. I don't use it that heavily i.e. for games etc and only charge it when the battery is less than 20%, I have not needed to have the power saving setting turned on because the battery life suited me without the settings. However when I noticed the overheating it seems the battery is draining much quicker, A full charge went down to 8% within roughly 4 - 5 hours without any heavy use.
Can anyone assist me on this
Thanks

Did you update?, i just played a game with the charger plugged in with full battery, after 10 mins of game play my battery was at 95% and that with the charger plugged in, my battery life wasnt as good as yours before the update but it was def alot better than it is now, theres quite a few more bugs since 1.16.401 and up, touch screen is dodgy as hell, that could be one reason for the battery drain, im seriouslt thinking of selling it and getting out my onex.
No I havent done any software updates, currently have the latest version available which 1.14.161.18. The problem only started yesterday out of nowhere, I can't understand what is causing it!! My usage has not changed at all :S
I was having the same issues the second I turned my HOX+ on. I have fixed it by not using LTE all the time. I found that when LTE was on, it over-heated my phone and killed my battery life especially when restoring my gmail on initial setup with settings and apps coming down from the cloud.

[Q] Crazy battery drain

I barely push 8 hours (maybe 2 hours of on screen time) with the OEM battery, and maybe 15 hours (4 hours on screen time) with a 6400mah Anker battery. I keep seeing the Android OS usage is ridiculously high, but I can't seem to source it. I installed better battery stats, and
"NFC test" seems to be causing some issues with wake locks, but that seems like a core application. Is there some other reason that this might be the cause for such high system usage? I really don't want to re-flash and lose all my app data.
My phone also gets really hot whenever I play Plants vs Zombies, but that's probably unrelated

Bad battery life.

I have the nexus 9 since December and I absolutely love it . It's an amazing piece of technology . Recently I started to notice that the battery was draining too fast , barely 4 hours of screen time. When in the beginning it was 5:30 hours. For example, when I left the tablet an all afternoon without touching it, it would only spend 1% which is pretty good, now is 3% which is a big difference. Overall it's just spending battery way too fast . I don't have those battery sucking apps and I only play for about 20 min or less. I have everything stock and non- rooted.
Anyone else experiencing this?
I can't say for certain that I'm experiencing the same thing. Perhaps it's because I keep my brightness pretty low all the time (I'm used it like that) and I'm definitely getting over 4 1/2 to 5 hours on mix usage. I pretty much use my tablet as a web-browser-note-taking-google-plus-using-facebook machine. How much available RAM do you typically have on idle (minus the settings app)? I typically have over 1GB of free RAM.
(also to note: my nexus 9 is stock and non-root like yours)
