stuck on lg life is good and wont boot start up - T-Mobile LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i was rooted but went months without touching os or using heavy root apps besides like greenify and tasker. the other day it just randomly rebooted twice and never booted on the 2nd time. stuck on life is good screen. in twrp the phone would restart without touching. had a lot of trouble to enter twrp just to copy some internal files. luckily i was able to back up the internal files i wanted but have not been able to go back into recovery. was able to sit on fastboot and download modes without it rebooting. ran the unroot tutorial and finished 100% without it restarting during. when finished flashing stock unroot, it was supposed to reboot but still stuck on lg life is good. the phone is 1 year and 15 days old so i doubt tmobile or lg are going to care about it. looks like im screwed huh.

happened to me a few days ago. it is fried. just re lock the bootloader and send it to t mobile. they will send a 2016 model which will not fry,

thanks! can you please provide me more info on how to send it to tmobile? i already flahsed a stock non root and does not give me the relock bootloader message so im assuming its locked. i tried to see the tmobile site but the nobody is on the chat support. tried to get out 1 of my older backup phones but realized the sim is a nano and spent about 30min trying to position it just right to be able to get some calls/texts. i failed.

Do you try to use LGUP to flash stock rom likes H901_20L.kdz or H901_20J.kdz ? After add kdz to LGUP and then click Refurbish to start. Don't use upgrade. 20L kdz you can find the download link at Andy rom page 24.

yes i was successfully able to do that but still stuck on the LG lifes good screen. life is NOT good. tmobile will not help since the phone is 1 year and 15 days of purchase. tbh i REALLLLLY wanted the v20 and was going to buy 1 or 2 next week, maybe as early as the 20th to try and get those headphones but i hear a lot of complaints about LG's not booting up. i have a friend that had issues with 2 g4 and a g5 that would not boot also. he did not root or anything. he was able to do some trade in that got him $200 credit for turning in the last refurb phone he got as a replacement. im just so worried the v20 will not last me 3 years max. the reason for 3 years is because i like to have a good backup for moments like this. since they are so expensive i dont like trading them in. the v10 according to tmobile is worth $24 credit.

t-mobile will replace it. their warranty ends in 2 years. they will send a 2016 model. call the support number. ask for a rep. tell the rep what happened. make sure you do not mention anything about rooting. the rep will transfer you to a tech. tell him/her the same thing. they will ask for your account verification and such. then ask if your address is correct and they will send a replacement overnight. make sure you lock the bootloader again if it was unlocked

Mine went into boot loop at one year and one day (purchased 11/14/15, boot loop 11/15/16), called T-Mobile, and was told too bad so sad - you can get credit toward a new phone. T-Mobile warranty is 1 year - not 2.

when it is in the lg screen does it say in the top left "bootloader unlock" or something like that?

yes, i went to lg website and they instantly sent me a shipping label to print and the status is currently repairing but i have no clue if i am going to get a bill or anything. nobody even reviewed it. i just entered my phones imei and personal info and description then it just gave me a label and have not had any communication with anyone at lg about it. hopefully none will be needed and just praying that i get an update on the page saying shipped!

no, it did not say anything like that. i flashed that stock rom posted somewhere here that says unroot and entered that fastboot code above. hopefully that was enough to hide my root traces. if this is legit and they fix my phone or give me a replacement, ill opt in for the v20 even tho i missed out on the headphones deal.

[Q] should i send in on warranty

Just looking for some opinions and advise here. Got my attic on Craigslist about 6 months back. Was plagued with reboots and having to pull battery a lot. Unlocked it and started flashing anything and everything trying to fix (roms, radios, kernels, cm7, cm9 etc) . Finally settled on neutrino. But still rebooted and froze. Installed wakelock and now works fine. Just found out phone is still under warranty with Motorola. Should I send back or live with wakelock not letting my phone go into deep sleep.
And my wife's attic was also bought off Craigslist. Hers worked great until last update (she is on pure unmolested stock not even ROOTED). Now it reboots, constantly disconnects from wifi, proximity censor issues. Should I send hers back now or wait and hope next update fixes.
My warranty up in October hers in November.
UPDATED: WIFES FIXED. NEED TO GET MINE TO STOCK
I would use the warranty.
On both. I am pretty sure will send hers in. Mine being unlocked worries me a bit. Is going to suck using old backflip while phone gets repaired. Bought these cash so no contracts but from what I have read Motorola will service without receipts.
I would try warranty on locked non-rooted phone. My personal opinion is if you root and unlock it is your problem. We all know(or at least should) the risks that are involved.

I briefly read the warranty. If I remember correctly they don't cover damage done by using other software. And since I had the prob before the software didn't cause prob. Oh and how did you get a straighttalk logo. I don't remember it being an option. 45 unlimited* rocks
Nevermind found straighttalk. Of course after I buy 2 e71's. Just for the sims they start selling them for like 15$…oh well
If you try to send it in the worst they can say is no.Watch tethering and/or laptop dock usage, I have recently received calls from Straight Talk about my data usage.Last month they throttled my data so much the last two weeks that pandora wouldn't even load.
I haven't tethered since my alltel days. Then Verizon got ahold of them. Had to go with straighttalk. Saves me about 60$ a month on my not smart Verizon plan with 2 phones

Send both in under warranty. When you unlock the bootloader is states "MAY" void warranty. I haven't heard of anyone yet being refused warranty for an unlocked bootloader. To the contrary, the forums are full of people having no issues. Some people have received replacement phones which they cannot unlock however, so it seems Motorola is trying to prevent anyone in the future unlocking again.

Send in both. Turnaround time with Motorola is actually quite fast, and they should have them two or 3 days max.
I sent in my bootloader unlocked Atrix already (digitizer issues) , but I did use a method found here on XDA to hide the unlocked text from the boot screen.
Good luck.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA
Sending in wife's soon. I may try a factory reset with hers first. Forgot that I haven't tried that since they updated. I don't mess with her phone much. I am going to get mine back to stock and send it in when hers gets back (only have one backup phone)
Factory reset didn't help. Sent in. It arrived at motorepair friday
Send in both.
On the unlocked one, just flash back to stock. Very simple. Takes 5 minutes. Hides the unlocked text, and "re-locks" the bootloader.
Did that for mine, and Motorola replaced it.
What's the warranty lemgth on these?
One year, but the service rep told me that on this issue if it is not to long over they warranty it anyway.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2
Sent in wife's phone. It should be back tomorrow. A bit anxious to see if it was fixed or replaced or still messed up. Will post after tested
You can check the service status on the website and it will tell exactly what they did regarding your case.
Good guy moto
I had to send mine in for warranty repair once, I didn't read about the proper way to unlock the bootloader back in the day. Even while rooted with a custom ROM they did a warranty replacement. Hopefully yours comes back okay with no issues.
well the wife's phone is back today. still has same issues. the ones i know of are not connecting to wifi without rebooting. proximity sensor issues. and there is a error force close message that keeps coming up. gues I call moto tomorrow. Back to repair shop in mexico hurray:silly:

If you can find any dead spots with the touch screen, that is another big issue with the atrix.

[Q] Broken Vibration

I bought my M7 brand new from eBay and everything worked fine when I got it. Somehow between unlocking the bootloader, installing recovery, rooting, and installing this (M7 Unofficial T-Mobile 1.29.401.13 OTA GSM Deodex) ROM, the vibration no longer works. I can feel an EXTREMELY faint vibrate. So faint that i had to mute the TV and put my ear to the phone to hear it.
What can I do to try to get this taken care of?
More info

OK so it's definitely busted. I ran the vibration diagnostic (*#*#3424#*#*) mode and ran the vibration test. If I knock the phone around a bit it comes back but never lasts more than a few seconds. Will T-mobile honor the warranty if I bought the phone from eBay and have unlocked my bootloader?
Okay, I had this problem with another phone I had (HTC Sensation 4G). I found myself with little vibrations, so faint that it wasn't noticeable in my pocket. Instead of going back to another stock ROM I left it the way it was. A few days later my speaker shut completely down, so I freaked out and installed a different ROM. Speaker didn't work, vibrations worked though. I called HTC and they told me I screwed something up in the phone's circuitry. My recommendation would be to go to a different ROM, if that doesn't work, go stock, and if you still have problems call HTC.

I reflashed my stock ROM backup I made and its the same thing. I'll text myself and sometimes it vibrates and sometimes it doesn't.
If you have it covered with insurance by T-Mobile then I see why not unroot it, lock the bootloader and return it to T-Mobile. It's sure worth a shot!

Got it off eBay. Whats the manufacturer warranty on these things?
Usually HTC would charge you a hundred something, I usually buy my phones from anywhere other than T-Mobile and still get insured by them. If you've insured your phone it should still be covered through T-Mobile. Try that first because I know to replace a damaged phone through T-Mobile is a sure a hundred dollars and not a day without a phone because it gets replaced in like 1 day if anything.

I just got back from tmobile they told me since I didn't buy it at tmobile and i'm prepaid they can't help me. I'm going to get a refund through ebay. The description stated the phone was new and defect free but it isn't so according to ebay's policies I'm eligible for a refund.
I think I'm going to buy ANOTHER M7, when I get it go to t-mobile to transfer my service to the new one, then send the old one back through ebay buyer protection for a refund. I'll be out almost $600 until the ebay refund goes through though.

if you bought it brand new, its a 1 year warranty with HTC, you can do t his through T-Mobile and they will charge you $20 to call and deal with it for you however, since we dont have SOFF, they will know you rooted it, there is this video that says rooting does not void your warranty so if you can prove to HTC that you rooting did NOT cause this, they shouldn't care

Is this $20 fee documented somewhere? Although I believe you I can't really point to an xda thread as source if the guy in the store says they don't do that.
Also, I'd be out a phone during this process right? And what if HTC tells me that me rooting my phone caused the vibration hardware to malfunction?

Okay then, if you bought it brand new, you have the receipt, you still have HTC 1 year warranty. You put it back to stock, and you tell them there is a problem with your phone. The vibration is off and its too weak. Then thats it. You will be out of a phone, if they do notice its rooted, which they probably wont if you resort it back to 100% stock and lock the booloader thought I am not sure about this, you can try to argue that it started happening way before you rooted it to fix an issue they are at fault here.

I bought it from eBay, no receipt. I could ask the person I bought it from for their receipt I guess. And if I brought it back I would put it back to stock but the bootloader would still say relocked and tampered since we don't have an RUU for t-mobile yet.

Yeah basically so you will have to argue with then that this happened before you flashed the new Rom thinking that would fix it. My phone vibration starts strong and gets weak but it last like a good minute just vibrating in a decreasing way.
.I was considering rooting and flashing the new 1.29 update because ny buttons don't work eithe but since we don't have SOFF they will know

bootloop ?

so my phone just randomly powerd off i pulled the battery and tried to restart it. it went to lg logo and then into the device can not be checked for corruption (im using Tmobile-LGV10_flash_Root_Stock_MM_6_0 from https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/general/step-step-guide-rooting-lg-v10-using-t3382631 and i am not blaming anyone) now some times it does not power on at all. i cant get into adb nor fastboot. i have tried to soft reset and hard reset but it wont do anything.
any advise into getting my phone running again?
I have contacted LG got an rma from them hopefully the "can't check for corruption" does not void the warranty if I have one. I bought it in 12-2015 and on LG website they say I have a 1 year warranty. Any idea how I can make the phone not show "can't check for corruption"?

I've heard they don't really care too much if you unlock the bootloader. I would be more concerned about the 2 months after the year warranty thing.
Hopefully because they know about their motherboards being proned to bootloops, they'll fix it for you regardless.
I bought a bootlooping V10 a couple week ago for around $100 w/ no original proof of purchase. Still decided to take a chance and send it in. Got my repaired phone back from them within a week.

Do you mind me asking what you uploaded for the proof of purchase? They require something to be uploaded for that field on the repair request website. Thank you!
The freezing or heating is not nonsense. I saw it on a YouTube video and tried it myself. I put my phone in a Ziploc bag and squeezed all the air out to minimize any moisture damage, and froze it for six hours. It was able to boot up and stay on for three hours so I was able to transfer all of my data and files to my micro SD card. I have read that LG will honor the warranty beyond the stated length of time for this issue but your mileage may vary. What I am wondering is if anyone can expect any kind of compensation from LG? I have had two of my phones go through the boot loop issue, and currently all LG is saying is that if I have anything wrong with my 3rd phone, they will fix it. I find that unacceptable due to the time and aggravation spent dealing with a known product defect.

I'm almost positive I didn't submit any proof of purchase with my claim.
... yeah, I just checked, it is not a required field.
Obviously YMMV and I could have just gotten lucky, though I doubt it and I imagine this to be more of a under the table recall.

LG V30 H932 Won't Permanently Unlock

Hello my LG V30 H932 will not Permanently Unlock. The phone was paid off in full and I waited 40days like Tmobile requirements want. The phone which was brand new was replaced due to a malfunction with the display. So they gave me a warranty exchanged phone. And i have had trouble unlocking the phone ever since. Tmobile ended up giving me 2 more warranty exchanged phones thinking that this would finally solve the problem with the unlock. And after trying and trying the phone will not unlock despite being on the phone with Tmobile tech support for weeks (they tried everything from Manager Overrides, whitelisting the IMEI, putting the phone through escalation, etc) and they still were not able to unlock my phone. The Device Unlock App keeps saying "unlock failed". Finally Tmobile suggested using a third party online unlocking service which they even paid for and still this unlocking service wasn't able to unlock my phone.
Has anyone else ever had a problem with Tmobile not being able to permanently unlock their phone via Device Unlock App? I keep telling Tmobile i think it's because the phone is a warranty exchanged phone and this is why it's not working. But they said no that shouldn't cause any issues. Anyone else know what I could do to get the phone unlocked? Highly appreciate any advice and help and thank you for your time.
No issues with mine. T-Mobile sent me the unlock the day I bought my device (paid in full) and no issues usings other carrier SIM's in it.
Had two v30 with the same issue. For me allowing the unlock app to access all the permissions fixed it for me.

Yes I have all permissions allowed and still not working.
Before i got my LG V30 replaced with the warranty exchanged one (bc of the display malfunction that i had) the phone did permanently unlock for me. On the Brand New Lg V30 it unlocked just fine. Then when they sent the warranty exchanged v30 it would not unlock anymore. I think the problem is with the warranty exchanged phones. Just my thought.

You are probably correct, but that's an internal T-mobile issue. They have it so locked down even that 3rd party unlocking service can't touch it. I find it amusing they actually paid for a 3rd party unlocking service for you. That was them admitting they really screwed it up.
Okay today i called Tmobile one more time to ask about my IMEI. I wanted to make sure that the IMEI was in good standing. And that it was not on anyone else's account by mistake. Everything looked good. After explaining my situation again for the 100th time, the account specialist said she can transfer me to their Advanced Technical Support Team which Tmobile has never tried before. She also was perplexed bc on their end my phone says it is eligible to be unlocked. Anyway After speaking with the representative she said she would submit my case for escalation with their Technical Engineers. This we have never done. So in afew days i should hear back from them and i hope and pray that finally the phone will be able to Unlock Permanently! If not then there is nothing else i can do. I have tried what seems like everything. Unless anyone from XDA has the solution! Updates coming soon.
Also i want to add that at one point a technical support representative said that they will request that they replace my phone with a new one and not warranty exchanged one. He said he can't guarantee that tmobile will approve of this but he would try anyway. But of course i did not receive a new phone but the warranty exchanged phone instead. I just think tmobile could have tried harder to compensate me some how, but no nothing. But i think if after the technical engineers get back to me and still the phone won't unlock i am going to tell tmobile that i will file a complaint about this. And even share on social media how they have failed me. I will also tell them that I'm really disappointed that they didn't offer me any compensation for this situation. Tmobile has failed big time and what are they going to do about it??? Most likely nothing..
@michy21: This is troubling for sure. I gather you must still be with T-Mobile (or you wouldn't be able to use your SIM locked H932).
I too unlocked my TMO V30+ after 2 months using the Device Unlock app, and switched to an AT&T MVNO. T-Mobile reception is terrible inside our apartment, so I had no choice. But I worry what will happen if I need warranty repair (my screen just got a dead pixel today) or even after OS updates. T-Mobile probably won't grant unlock again without me being a subscriber.
They treated me horrible when I ported out, and I swore I'll never go back to them -- too bad because I really liked T-Mobile up till then, and would've come back when they roll out Band 71 in our area. So yes, this worries me.
I'll be quite interested to hear the outcome of your story.
You know I feel your pain. I bought a V10 off swappa a couple years ago and the same thing happened to me. There's a thread in the tmo V10 section where I listed the direct contact info of a lady named Jennifer I believe. She was the one to finally help me and make it happen and is quite high up with tmo. I went through all the same crap as you for months. She's the one to help you. Everyone else is useless no matter how much they will tell you otherwise. Give me a few minutes to find the thread.
Oh and I actually filed a complaint with the FCC . You need to do that ASAP too.

Wow! I am definitely going to email her and give her a call on Monday. I really hope that she can help me. And I will also file a complaint with the fcc. Thanks so much for this contact info.

Good luck. FCC should be your priority. I highly advise you to word in such a way that portrays them as "unwilling or refusing to unlock a device that meets the criteria". That will get a better response and they will want to fix that to be able to close the ticket. You gotta play dirty a bit. That's what I did and it worked quite well.

I just finished filing the complaint and emailed jennifer. Hope to hear from someone soon!
I just got done talking to Nicole from the executive office at Tmobile. She called me regarding my complaint I filed to the FCC. And she couldn't get my phone to unlock, but she said she is going to send me an Unlocked phone instead. It's not brand new but a warranty exchanged one that is in excellent condition. So finally I'm happy with the outcome.

bricked after ATT update

I was out of town and ignoring the notification to install an att update. I was in and out of wifi at my hotel and I think it downloaded about 9% of the official update. When I got home and under reliable wifi I decided to do the update. When I came back to the phone about 10 min later i had a blue screen with the message System software not authorized by AT&T has been found on your phone please take to nearest AT&T store. I called att they conference called with Samsung and sent me to ubreakifix to look at it. They were able to get in download mode and the knox wasn't tripped but it only said Official Samsung in one of the 2 places the tech said it should (i think the binary didn't say official Samsung but I only saw it briefly). I have only had this phone for 2 months. It is NOT rooted. It wouldn't go into recovery Any thoughts?

Man, talk about a bad situation. I would try itekimei .com. Buy the unlocked package for $30. He will be able to flash your factory firmware back to the way it was. Granted you can get into recovery and download modes.
I wouldn't turn to At&T for that type of help. Carriers are usually pretty stupid when it comes to stuff like this. At least with my experience with t-mobile for 17 years.
* I should add I recently used itekimei .com for two galaxy s9+'s with success for CDMA carriers, I.E. verizon. But part of that process is flashing back your original firmware, which should be no problem for AT&T and t-mobile. They have access to the actual Samsung tools, they can do just about anything when it comes to flashing firmware. Which in your case, sounds like your best alternative.
I took it to the ubreakifix (authorized Samsung repair) They said they were going to call Samsung, if they gave them the go ahead it will be fixed under warranty, which it should in the first place, or they'd charge me $40 to flash back to factory.

And Itekimei will do it for $30, plus it will be carrier unlocked if you ever needed that. But he does the same process in the end, flashes back your factory firmware. So six one, half a dozen another. But with samsung, I don't think they will leave you carrier unlocked after they reflash your firmware.
But your right, it should be fixed under warranty. If that's an option for you that you want to take, then take it. I don't know how long they will take, the guy at itek takes about an hour to do the process. They have access to the same tools samsung does to flash phones, at least they claimed to me.
Thanks for the info, that will definitely be plan B.

No problem, but yeah that sounds like your solution anyways, is to have someone flash back your firmware. That will solve your problem.
ubreakifix couldn't fix it, they called samsung and they claim I rooted it. I DID NOT ROOT. used the help of iTekIMEI and he tried to flash stock firmware, he was unable to get it going too. Called Samsung directly they want me to send it in for analysis, sounds like they don't believe me either about not rooting.
