[FIX] Fix NlpCollectorWakelock drain on rooted N (get better battery life) - Nexus 6P General

Hi xda!
Lately i had problems with 7.0 eating out my battery really hard because of the infamous NlpCollectorWakelock.
This bug is totally random and some phones may have it, some may not.
Mine was pretty plaugued by it, but since I really like the added benefits of location services (such as location history, smart lock, etc..) I just couldn't switch off the location or leave the device to "gps only" setting.
Amplify sadly is a no-go because of xposed framework atm missing in 7.x
So, after digging the web around a bit, i just want to report what fixed the issue for me (and likely for you too)
I downloaded an app, called disable service (you may already know it)
I switched to the system tab > google play services > turned off network location service
I know, it may sound dumb, but it doesn't break the location from cell towers/wifi (and also gps works great) but it fixes NlpCollectorWakelock.
To revert, simply put the check back.
Test it out and report back here, for me it did a great job!
P.s.: English is not my main language, so if you find grammar/other errors in the post above, let me know about them.

How about wlan rx wakelock ? Is there any other way to disable that ?

I personally never tried to disable those, you just need a compatible kernel (ElementalX Kernel works just fine)
Anyway i don't suggest messing with kernel wakelocks as could lead to really annoying troubles.
There are user that reports no notifications on wifi after disabling it, others say the phone works perfect. I think you should just try and see if it works for you.
Also, don't expect much more savings from disabling it, since the biggest battery drainer on stock android is (and always will be) google play services.

Installed it now, i'll let you know (se la bandiera non inganna dovresti anche capire questa frase qui tra parentesi, spero che la tua soluzione vada bene perchè sto impazzendo col mio note 4).

OP, it is the app?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice
Really works on Android Nougat? the last update of the app was in 2014.

Yup, is that app. I know it's not been updated in a while, but it works great.

I will try this fix.

7.1.1 DP2 (Nexus 6P) + Magisk + phh's superuser here.
Installed the app, gain root privileges, and tried to disable a service click in the name or using the checkbox, but look like doesn't work.

I am in no way related with @franciscofranco but he has a more updated app called "Servicely" which I have been using with 6.x, 7.0 and 7.1 . You can check it out in the app store.

I collaborated in a project to block wakelocks on rooted 7.1.1 without xposed. Check out the project thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/wakeblock-blocking-drain-late-t3526313

No, without root doesn't work

A couple of weeks ago I went from Pure Nexus MM to Pure Nexus N 7.1.1. On MM I was getting a little north of 5hrs sot. When I went to N I barely had 2hr 10m of sot. Will definitely be giving this a try.
Will report back with results. Currently my phone is running out of juice.

Disable restricting Android API to get recent tasks in Lollipop and newer. This restriction causes that some apps (e.g. Greenify) don't work as they should, since Android now returns nothing or useless info when they want to get recent tasks. This module should fix it as it was before.

Imho the app developers should update their apps. There are new permissions like PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS. I checked wiht an M emulator my apps (non-xposed & non-root apps) TaskManager and KeepRunning and they still work without this module

Is that a yes or no?
PackageUsageStats is not same as getRecentTasks. I doubt you can get same info from PUS as in getRecentTasks in pre-LP.
Hi,
May I ask what you mean by giving the example of Greenify? What exactly is the shortcoming with Greenify in L in contrast to pre-L?
I was following their change logs and it seems to me that there is nothing Greenify nowadays couldn't do in L. What am I missing?
I am just asking, because I am not sure why and whether I should install this module as a Greenify (beta) user.
Wouldn't it be easier to introduce your fix in their own code?
Modify module to work for only one app?
I'm wondering how I could modify this module to make it so that it only works for one particular app (Last App Switcher). I like the idea of Android preventing third party apps from getting my recent app details, but I also miss using LAS.
I'm thinking that in the call to XposedBridge.hookAllMethods() I could replace the third argument XC_MethodReplacement.returnConstant(true) with a instance of XC_MethodHook that checks the calling app's package name and if it matches the package I want to target (com.abhi.lastappswitcher) then it would return true, otherwise it would call the standard Android isGetTasksAllowed function normally. I've never done any Xposed development though so I'm not sure I'm going about it the right way.
Hi @pyler,
Is this module still needed in Android M for apps like Greenify?
Thanks

Needed for Marshmallow? Thx

No, since many devs already use new APIs.. If you have old app, not updated for LP/MM, this maybe needed for full app functionality.
A fantastic module, some apps still require this to work, an app from myself for myself for example: RAMTool https://tiziocaio.store.aptoide.com/app/market/com.thepriest.andrea.ramtool/1422/22796519/RAM+Tool
Since my app analyzes recent and running apps and on a regular interval, I fear that using UsageStatsManager will degrade performance, I am afraid that the cpu will be more stressed.
Rewriting my code to get worse perfornce than before doesn't make me happy ...that's probably the reason i hadn't yet wrote it.
Are my fears unfounded?

[Solved] [Q] Ignore app state option no longer available, 2.8 beta 2

I noticed a few days ago that Facebook was no longer hibernating when I shut off my screen. It turns out that the option to ignore app state is no longer available, which I was using to hibernate apps like Facebook that always show up as working. Is there a reason for this? Because this option is not available, Greenify will no longer auto-hibernate Facebook. Currently running on a rooted Nexus 6P.

This feature is still available in Greenify and I used it yesterday.
Either Facebook or N6P should be the reason if it is not working for you. Most likely Facebook.

I'm an idiot. You have to manually hibernate a working app before it gives you the option to ignore running state permanently. Thanks for your help, everybody!
I am on 2.8.1 with root mode. I don't seem to find the manual hibernate option to ignore app state. I got this app that's abusing the state and shows "working" all the time.

Xposed doesn't have anything to do with this option. I hope you are running it in root or boost mode.
You may not get this option on the App Analyzer screen. When you are on the main screen of Greenify and this app is shown as running, touch it to highlight it. Then click the Zzzz button or the three dot menu, then 'hibernate now'. You should get a dialogue box containing some warnings and also a checkbox within it. Tick the checkbox, then click OK. That is all.

Thanks, this is definitely something I have done in the past on a Samsung device. However, after I had migrated to Nexus 5x I lost this option. I just try to replicate the steps yet once again I don't get any prompt for app state. Sigh.

Why don't you try this on another app and see whether you get the option? By the way, which app is giving you this issue?

I do not recommend though, I've tested it a bit, and in terms of apps you can't really install much, since most of the apps install but the crash right after XD.
Now seriously if this is your main device i don't recommend it, Bluetooth stops working sometimes and it's not stable when connected to sound stuff...No stable music no good
Plus there's some settings issues, nfc works well tho, play services sometimes stop, i don't recommend restoring from cloud or a local backup otherwise It will have serious problems
like play services rebooting XD

Sorry, I misspelled
Off late I had installed it.. AOSP, LOS and RR... all three of them and all of them booted very well.
On LOS I had flashed Gapps and Su as well and all worked well too.
Performance is really very good and I had not faced any FCs. All google apps worked well too...
The only thing I didn't like was the status bar.. Its not really optimized or tuned for the Notch and there is no option to get rid of the notch the way you can in EMUI.
The status bar with looks ugly and takes away the fun to use it phone.
Camera on the other hand is not so good and lacks the features of EMUI... e.g. beauty mode, color filters, editing, bokeh effect, etc.. etc.. and made me dissatisfied.
I am hoping that soon we will have a special tuned version for P20 Lite and holding reflashing till that time.
Hope it helps to the new flashers to make up their mind
Thanks
has anyone made google play to download apps ??

ColorOS 6

Used VPN to download ColorOS 6 and it's so goooood, finally get notification icons in the status bar as well! Sooooo much better than 5.2
Battery feels amazing, everything feels smooth. I use Nova Launcher.
Camera app is better for me at least, didnt even have 4k recording or night mode on 5.2
One downside still is that i cant disable system apps like chrome and youttube (i used Youtube Vanced) even with activity manager.
Otherwise im soooo happy with how it is now!!

Notification issues

Have any of you guys had issues with this?
For example I use Hangouts a ton and it's been hit and miss. For every message I do get I miss like 9. I've gone though the settings and turned on autostart, set all notifications to yes, and no restrictions on battery saver and still nothing.
How have you guys been dealing with this issue? I'm loving every other aspect of this phone except this lol.

Temporary Workaround :
Goto Special app access -> battery optimization and select google play services and google framework services to Dont Optimize. I will work,,
Dont reboot the device after the setting to Dont optimize otherwise it will revert to Optimize..( It wont stick to Dont optimze if reboot)..
