Others have already told the method.. i just have a little suggestion to add -
Use the 8.1.10.0 fastboot image (google "index sd redmi note 4") for flashing. then use the updater to update to the latest version.
Newer images will change your phone's about information to Redmi Note 4X (both of them are mido, xiaomi is releasing only one image for both the devices).. i don't know if it will cause problems later but I think its better to avoid it..

He was talking about Redmi 4X, not the Redmi Note 4x.
You won't be getting LineageOS any soon without the kernel source code which Xiaomi still refuses to release

What version is it? Snapdragon or MTK?
If you are unsure, you can install CPU-Z to determine your SOC version.

Whyred has lots of roms and a proper search will yield output.
