I recently lost almost half of my photos trying to move them on my pc. I had about 500 photos, all was visible in phone gallery but only about 300 was visible from my pc when I connected the phone. After moving the whole DCIM folder, all only visible in gallery photos was gone. How can I recover them? I already tried Disk digger and Wondershare Dr.Fone, no result. I rooted the phone. I can't connect phone as a mass storage so I can't use most of recovery apps on pc. What else can I do?

when I connected my phone with my computer I could see my pictures in the DCIM folder.
Now I can no longer see the thumbnails. I just see a windows pictures icon.

I have a few questions about pictures and music
Pictures
I use Kies and have selected some pictures to sync to my device from the PC. Nice and easy it upload the pictures stored on the computer.
However when viewing on the handheld the pictures are not in the folders that where on my PC. They are all together or separated by date. Is there a way that I can keep all the pictures in the separate folders just like on my PC. For example Xmas 2009 – Peters Birthday 2010 which contain the relevant pictures?
If I then change my mind and I don’t want those pictures on my device I could remove via Kies. I selected the folders on the Kies menu and removed the check box. Let the computer sync but found that the pictures where still on my device. Does Kies not work like this? In the end I had to go onto my phone via the PC sync cable and manually remove the pictures.
I take pictures with my phone all the time and like to locally store a copy. I used the Kies export method but that removes all the pictures you but on the phone from the PC as well!!!!
Is there a way to export the pictures from your device that are not on your computer already?

Is it possible to also store a local copy of pictures taken to the external SD card and upload to google +?
Music
This one is a bit of a mind blower for me.
So I sync music via Kies onto my phone which is set up to store to the external memory first. The songs find their way onto the SD card but not in the album folders! And the phone does not see the music folders on the SD card.
So what I have to do it manually drag and drop the folders / Albums onto the internal memory of the phone and all is fine.
Do I have something set up wrong?

Something else to add to my list of questions in my contacts each contact has a face picture (which I know you can customise). However they are all different colours is there any reason for this?
On every "page" of my CONTACTS list, I have not only Contacts name, but their phone numbers, e-mail addresses, home addresses AND their photos.
How can I save ALL this info to my computer? I may need this info if my phone gets totally formatted again.
I used to use KIES to connect my pone to my home computer. But since I an now using Windows 8, it only enables me to see pictures, media only, not my phone or external CD card. To do this I now use the built-in USB Storage function to connect and see both phone AND SD card's folder (which I can then save to my computer's hard disk).
Which folder contains ALL the info of my contacts AND their photo link?

Export to sdcard. This will create a svc or cvs, something like that, file. That's enough i think

Something stupid happened.
I copied photos from DCIM folder on my computer. Then I deleted photos from DCIM folder. Now the thing is there was clearly 520 photos on DCIM and I have 520 photos on my computer. But I found out later not all photos that I could see in photos on the phone were copied to my computer, nor were they in DCIM folder.
Now I can't see any photos on phone. Where are missing photos?

Some photos does not appear in Gallery app, but in My Files app, when I open the camera folder all photos are there.
Any Ideas?
It will be in dcim directory either on phone or memory card, depending on your settings you choose. I did pick up that depending on what type of photos/vidoes/ar etc is taken, will depend where it stores the pics etc...not everything is stored in dcim anymore
Check to see if they are in your secure folders app.
