Replacing the EE ROM? - LG G5 Questions & Answers

Is there a way to update my G5 with the current EU OPEN ROM without having to root the handset?
The handset is currently branded for EE and I'd much rather have the stock unbranded software running by default... If it's not a major hassle to do it.

I upgraded it via lg up, I'm fairly sure i had ee f/w before but there was no obvious signs of branding.

I've got an EE branded G5 and have loaded Nougat Open EU Rom and have had no problems thus far (48 hours)!

How did you do it?

You flash a image with lg update look up flash stock ROM lg g5, you don't need to be rooted to do it, maybe you need the boot loader unlocked though

Did you lose EE things such as wifi calling though?

I had o2 branded one and getting NT code error on bot but if you're willing to dismiss it every boot you're free to flash any region for same model you want. Just use LG UP.

I think so but I don't want to disable it, as I use it. Will just wait for EE to push the update

Tbh I much prefer the 7.1 ROMs I'm using to the stock 7.0, multi windows not sure about seems more a tablet thing

You should be able to enable it through there too then... There's option for WiFi calling on open rom too

LG P509: Removal of T-Mobile start up splash and sound

I have a new rooted and unlocked LG P509 from T-Mobile USA and just updated to the latest firmware. Noticed that once the update was complete, the phone now has sound on that annoying T-Mobile splash/start up screen.
Is there a way to remove the files so that the phone boots right into the LG and then ANDROID screen?
Thanks in advance!

Nice....
I can't flash it due to the KDZ program crashing on me repeatedly. Could it be because of Windows 7? I'm doing everything right, but it crashed the second I press the button to flash the phone.

and saw people saying there was update 20d with knock code
opened the lg support tool and immediately says there was a update
I have polish open and i have 802 20D. I have fully working knock code and no scraches on earphones. Open poland is the same as eur open so if someone need HERE is url from LG site. This is oficial kdz. Ioroot working fine. Maybe devs use this kdz for knock code source or base to modify to flashable with custom recovery ?

Look for offline procedure update with LG mobile tool. Download the full 80220D KDZ file and flash it. I did it and remained with all apps and data. You have To re root but that's easy.

Flashable rooted Open Euro 20D with recovery and knock code
Hello ,
For people with custom recovery ...
Try the link in my signature.
This flashable zip works as an update , and keeps root and recovery.
It's made from the latest Open Euro 20D kdz
Just downloading it just now through the pc suite, anyone know what changes, if any, we can expect?

It doesn't matter AME, SEA or other. D802 is D802 and all firmwares for that prefix will run propertly. You have to only watch out for capability of phone storage. This one firmware works with 32GB perfectly.

OK what I mean is can it be done successfully (porting, etc.)? I want the wifi tethering (aka hotspot) feature that exist on all international variants of the phones, not locked by the stupid US carriers trying to rip-off it's customers by making you pay again for the same data you already purchased.

Do you have Att though? I think he's referring to using the att model on another network like I am doing as well. I'm using on tmobile and some users report, after having to edit system configs to be able to even turn on hotspot without an error, that they don't have any data once connected.

Hi, send a private message, i can tell you about that
Hello Guys,
I can't see how could be possible to download a "Porto Rico" (H820PR) software in ATT version.
Normally, Bootloader checks if region code matches before flash.
Could you please explain more about this procedure?
Thanks for supporting our community!

Its not more of the bootloader, but Antirollback. This works perfectly on older LG's like the G2, G3, G Pro, etc.

well you've rooted your phone, do you expect to get OTA just like that?
Once your phone is rooted, that's the only way, to get updates installed, unless you unroot and install a stock rom, and then yes you will get OTA updates the choice is yours

If your rooted then install one of the great ROMs that our fantastic devs have put together. When there is an update that justifies a rom update they usually have one out in a short period of time.

Hi,
I have t mobile s9+ but got it unlocked after paying in full. Now I am with at&t .
My phone is stuck with Android 9 December update. How do i force Android 10 update?
If i were to use ODIN, which firmware should i use: t-mobile, at&t or unlocked ?
I would prefer unlocked but don't want to mess it up.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
