Screen on time - Huawei Mate 9 Real Life Review

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Huawei Mate 9 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Bought the phone, turned it on 55% battery, downloaded apps and synced data began phones, Lost 40% battery with 4.30 SOT ,that's great ..i can't imagine my screen on time with a full charge

Where?

In the thread rating. The thread rating is supposed to be your review of this aspect of the phone. I was confused because this thread had a 1 star rating (worst), but your review sounded positive. I figured if someone else gave it 1 star, and you gave it something positive, it should at least average higher than 1

Oh, in the Android app, there isn't any rating so I think my post has no rating

On the Chinese version, in my experience, if you do nothing but use the phone, you'll probably get 10 or so hours of SOT. On standby/getting notifications, the battery of the phone drains probably 1-2 percent per hour of non-use, depending on what you have running. So in one day, let's say a 16 hour day, 8 hours using the phone, 8 hours with the phone on standby, you will just barely make it through the day. I'm a light user during the day (I always have a computer at work so why would I need to use my phone?) but even messing around a lot with the phone, I can end a 9 hour workday at 80 percent with about 1 hour SOT.

Can u help me guys... I have terrible batteri draining. Cpu is the One showing 70 percent drain
Combined app cpu is going crazy in gsam
Any idea

SOT is fine. The real problem is deep sleep percent, and consumption of battery in screen off time. 1% per hour with only Wi-Fi it's allot.

After 22 hours, @22% SoT was 5:26 h

thanks to myn, we've got an app that's a simple shortcut to get to that hidden power saver menu! i turned almost everything off in it, as i'm trying to see if that's what causes the 24% to 14% instantaneous drop...

Is it the same menu as the one in the pokemon tweaks?
Edit: from the look of the screen shots in the play store it is. But that's good to know its available on any ics Rom... Good find!

So how does this actually help us? It seems like it's set up pretty conservatively right now to maximize battery life, so if peoples' main complaint is battery life this is already helping, no?

Its like asking if running at a higher clockspeed uses more power. At it's base, yes, but if you finish a task faster (is this case a graphical render), then you can return to idle faster, and thus conserve more energy.

Yeah, the theory makes sense, but I wonder if a task is actually finishing faster or if it looks like it's finishing faster because you're forcing the processor to work at greater then 30fps. Which shouldn't really be visible anyway..

because people like me, who NEVER USE power settings or any of that stupid crap, can finally turn it off.
Especially since there's no threshhold of what battery % it starts doing this garbage at. I want to be in control of my phone, but HTC clearly thinks we're all idiots and they need to baby us like Apple.
hint: they don't. my battery life isn't good, but when am i not near a charger? i work at a damn phone store all day lol and if i really wanted to, i'd call and complain and get an extended battery..i just don't want the bulk yet. i've never been in a situation where my phone died and i was all OMG WHAT DO I DO, so i'm not too worried.
maybe these don't do anything.. i just checked stuff and I'm at 9% battery and my frame rate didn't reduce, and my animations didn't go away? hmm

[Q] From 100% to 46% in 30 minutes?

Hello all,
This morning, I woke up at 6, as usual, for work. I removed my phone from the charger around 6:30. It was at 100%. I turned off WiFi and put the phone in my pocket. Got in the car and went to work. I look at my phone when I get to work and it's at 46%. I didn't use it for anything in the 15 minutes it takes to get to work. I actually didn't even turn the screen on until I sat down at my desk at 7:00.
Any idea what would cause this? On normal standby with average use yesterday, it didn't get to 46% until 7 pm last night.
I have attached screens. Thanks for all of your help.

As far as I know, T-Mobile doesn't have 4G LTE in my area. I appreciate the reply, though.
oh yeah not LTE but still a 4G signal.
and the top of the list is Cell Standby, as far as I know that is your Mobile Signal/Data battery drain

read about "Fast Dormancy".
If your carrier don't support it, you need to disable it because it will drain your battery in standby mode.
here's one thread about Fast Dormancy -> LINK
---------- Post added at 11:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:19 PM ----------
also you need to plug/unplug charger (just a quick one) for the BBS to make a reference.
Also, zero widgets on my home screens. Factory reset on Tuesday night. It was great yesterday (Wednesday). Just got the phone last Friday after having 6 G2x's and an Exhibit 4G (after getting the run around from Tmo about the awful G2x).

People said that's because of the 4G. Looks a bit stupid to use so much battery in so mess time. You should still check BBS later. As I see in your screens, the phone had no time to collect enough data. Leave the app started during 1-2 hours and check it after. If possible, don't use the phone during this time. Btw, welcome to xda and a pleasure to try help you.

Exactly, you need to leave it few hours in the same way you left it when spent all the battery.
The differences between the S3 I9300 and SGH-T999 are that your phone is dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon with 2 gigs of RAM while our phone (GT-I9300) is quad-core 1.4 GHz Exynos 4412 Quad with 1 gigs of RAM and the firmware isn't compatible one with the other. You can see the diference here: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4804&idPhone2=4238

Is this happening when sitting idle and the screen is off? That would be a problem. However, as the above post was kind enough to do the math, 8+ hours of use/screen-on time is good.

Still on the low side IMO. The only time I have seen it drain that fast is with 50% or more screen brightness while playing Need For Speed at 1.7GHz and an overclocked GPU.

I can kill the battery in around 3 hours running a game at full brightness
Lol I'm happy when I get 6 hours+ screen time on below 50% brightness and normal usage (browsing, watching movies, very light gaming occasionally).

My battery life has improved quite a bit by flashing the KTmana kernel and underclocking the CPU.
I usually get about 2 days of usage with 7+ hours of screen time on mine before I worry about plugging it in. I have my brightness at the lowest setting the entire time, which I'm sure helps, but there just doesn't seem to be a need for me to have it any brighter.

I sold that exact tablet for this and haven't looked back for a second. Incredibly slow system and the only way to bandaid it is by unlocking your boot loader which voids your warranty.
The only thing that tablet has over this in my opinion is it charges 10x quicker, and the tablet UI is a lot nicer.
However its your money. You should be the only one who cares. If your happy with that tablet over an N10 then good! The N10 is far from perfect.
