Please take a look, i need some advices ! - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hello, i want to change this days my phone and i first looked at the Zenfone 3 ZE520KL but now i discovered Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro 3gb+32gb (Qualcomm) and i really really want to know more about it. I will use it in Romania, it's the "kenzo" good ? I want this one because i see a lot's of custom roms and i love the Cyanogenmod or RR. How's the battery, daily performance, gaming performance and battery performance ? I don't care to much about the camera. Thanks a lot for the answers ! :good:

If you don't care too much about the camera,I personally think that the redmi note 3 snapdragon 650 variant(2 or 3 gb) is great.
The kenzo refers to the redmi note 3 with a snapdragon 650 processor, sometimes called the redmi note 3 pro.
battery life is great. You could easily get 9 to 12+ hours depending on your setup and usage. Daily performance is smooth, there are very few, if any stutters or lags. I don't know about gaming, because I don't play very intensive games, unless ppsspp counts. If it helps, playing ppsspp is smooth, and there are no lags or stutters when playing, unless you intentionally speed up the emulation, where the game stutters a bit.

I Recently bought this device, The 32GB SD variant and the performance of this device is like HELL Awesome!
The gaming performance is amazing like it can handle all games without any lag.
I played Nova 3, Asphalt 8, Gta San Andreas, Dead Tigger 2, Over killed, Nba, Sbk 2k16 and also some games on the psp emulator(PPSSPP) WITHOUT ANY LAG! TRUST ME.
The Camera performance is also amazing but not in bad lighting but still it's awesome. You can record videos in full HD (1080p). The camera doesn't seem to have auto stabilization but if you use a tripod than the quality is just amazing. The front facing camera is also good, Can take awesome selfies and I don't have anything bad to say about this.
The battery backup is also amazing... JUST Amazing! It last me around 20-23 hrs with heavy usage.
The display is also amazing and sharp you can watch YouTube videos in 1080p.
The fingerprint works gr8!
The only problem is that we just get about 1.3gb of Ram available out of 3gb but still I never notice any lag on this device.
The reason behind this Ram issue is the MIUI!
MIUI takes a hell lots of Ram as it's a custom ui but its optimization is well like I never notice any lag while surfing the phone/web or even while playing heavy games.
Still if you think that this is a problem for you then you can always flash a custom ROM on your device.
I think MIUI will improve there Ram optimization while updates. So don't need to worry.
Overall believe me if you gonna buy this device than YOU GOT THE BEAST IN YOUR HANDS!!!

Thanks for the reply I know the MIUI isn't the greatest android, thats why if i'm going to get this device i will install the Cyanogenmod or RR in the first day. But how about the screen ? I read that we dont have any screen protection...

its tempered glass i put another nillkin h+pro glass on top of it anyway. but the original its scratch resistant...just like gorilla glass.
and miui isnt bad actually...its pretty nice, dont worry about RAM though, SD650 is really powerful so even if it loads from CPU its fast

Xiaomi did not reveal the details about glass protection they used. Instead they said, the glass is scratch resistant has equivalent protection as same as gorilla glass provides.

Probably being noob, but gaming performance is stupidly bad.

So, I have a major problem, currently I'm on CM12.1, Latest build by lokjianming, but pretty much all of my games are running bad? Like, it's struggling to keep up, although it should easily be able to cope on this modern phone, stuff like Temple run 2 and Osmos HD, they're all stupidly choppy! I need help.

sadly, imo there is no other stable gaming rom than MIUI for redmi note 2 (until now)
just reflash to MIUI, and you wont get disappointed
Unfortunately, very bad optimization of apps and games. The same problem on htc e9 and meizu mx5, they too have mtk6795. We must wait. Someone says "deal with it"
(sorry for my eng plz, i'm ukrainian)
Im running Miui and playing need for speed no limite run fine for me without lags.

but this phone has the power. im gaming fine even with cpu underclocked
its his unstable rom causing problems
Just take it easy, this phone was released 4 months ago, and we have CM builds !! Honestly I never excpect to have them this quick, we just have to wait for developers to deal with MTK and its mistical source code.
This the latest (leak) china rom stable: http://bigota.d.miui.com/V7.1.1.0.LHMCNCK/miui_HMNote2_V7.1.1.0.LHMCNCK_dc250ba711_5.0.zip
Working very very well, fast and smooth, for a moment the best rom i tried (I tried all roms, cm, aosp, miui, international, china, russian...)

I have zero issues with the same cm 12.1. ROM and all heavy 3d games run flawless here. So why do you talk crap about his ROM and it being unstable when it's not? Also it does actually @ludoke have the power of a Mercedes to be honest. Lol. I am very surprised about its "power" tbh.
Try to while your dalvik and cache and see if that helps.
I also DLL the temple run because i dont play it, but it worked fine here. No stuttering or problems so something else must be causing it I reckon.
The only problem I have with games is battery draining but performance is ok. I have 0 lag or fc on bule's CM.
The Helio X10 has a pretty bad gpu. Similar to the old Snapdragon 600 or S4 Pro.
If you want to play games, then get something with the Snapdragon 801 like the infocus m810t. Or the Mi 4c with the Snapdragon 808.
For the next 1 year I need to use this but its the last time I buy a device with miui stock.. I hate the closed source and bad too for mediatek..

RN3 Pro or Nexus 5x

I have owned RN3P for two months now, and I'm pretty satisfied with it, except from the camera ofcourse. Just now, I saw a ad on olx for Nexus 5x for pretty reasonable price and now I'm confused should I sell my RN3P and get the nexus device. I know that Nexus 5x has SD808 and Adreno 418, which are definitely inferior to RN3P's config. So, on paper, RN3P blows Nexus 5x out of the water. But, on the other side, Nexus devices PERFORM, and also the nexus 5x sports a much much better camera than RN3P. I don't click much photos, but anyone would like to have a good camera phone. I don't care about battery too much and 2700mah on nexus 5x will be enough for me. And, I do use my phone for bit of gaming (MC4 :-B).
So, if someone has both the devices or just want to give a advice. Please comment..!!
One doesn't appreciate the battery until one jumps to the nexus side......
Seriosuly let aside bells and whistles that our RN3's provides, the battery experience simply cannot be replaced. I used to own the nexus 5x and trust me it's battery sucks, 3-4 hours of SOT. After using RN3 I simply cannot go back to nexus just because of the battery.
Yes if you need a device to tinker with then nexus is an awesome phone but for daily usage I would recommend RN3

What about the difference in performance and camera..?
You've already answered your own question. But in my words:
-If you want to have a nice camera on your phone, with a flagship branding, and clean Stock Android experience, get the Nexus 5x.
-If you need a Big 5.5" screen, with heavy gaming & good battery, and if you can bear MIUI, then keep the RN3 Pro.
Just keep these points in mind. Forget about normal performance. Both phones will perform on par, when on normal usage, because 5x being on stock Android will feel much snappier and light-weight, as compared to MIUI powered RN3 Pro, even if RN3 Pro has more powerful processor. (See I'm talking about normal usage, not heavy such as games etc.), Also, Big battery is a big advantage of RN3 Pro, over 5x. Keep it in mind as well.

Camera is much much better than RN3 but also SD 650 beats 808 on performance. So you decide yourself, that you want better community support and faster updates or overall better vfm device.

Yeah, I got that, even RN3 on CM or any other custom ROMs is "much snappier", significantly. But, in gaming performance, MIUI literally performs better.

Well, games performs good in MIUI 'cause it's the default ROM shipped on the phone. You know, some (read: most) custom ROMs' performance degrades for obvious reasons. If Xiaomi has shipped RN3 with AOSP, then games would perform as good as they're currently on MIUI. Seriously, I can't understand, why Chinese companies make Android skins with iOS-y looks. It doesn't even come close to iOS this way. lol.

Well, MIUI skin is not that bad. I mean, you could get used to it. The bad part is the bloatwares that come along with it.
And, I don't really understand how's this possible but even after heavy customization, the gaming performance is better in other non-xiaomi devices too. Earlier I had Lenovo A6k+, and not only the Antutu scores went up to 38k from 22k, but also the gaming became extremely smooth, after flashing MIUI ROM.
P.S. : I've dropped my plan getting Nexus 5x.

Then there must be something special in MIUI, if it can increase that much of AnTuTu score.
BTW, Nice to see, you made the decision.

I haven't played longer than 30mins straight, haven't had the time yet. After 30mins it was warmer than usual, but far from uncomfortable. I'll try to game for 1 hour straight tomorrow, to see if it gets uncomfortable.
Edit: gaming 1hour straight doesn't make it warmer than gaming for 30mins.
i try play mortal Kombat X while connecting my device to my tv using connector.it looks extremely amazing, like you are play in a ps4,the graphics, the details, the performance ,all great .hope everyone check this game while connecting using EMUI desktop feature

I played battle bay for 43 minutes, i dont think it goes hotter than my old s8 or my meizu pro 7,
It still comfortable enough to hold.
I use my Mate 10 primarily as my gaming machine now to play Mobile Legends and Arena Of Valor. I can play like 2 games of 20 minutes each on average for 10% battery reduction. Resolution set to QHD and highest quality graphics. It never gets too warm to hold. Gaming performance is superb. Sound is excellent. One major problem is that video overlay for Skype and FB Messenger doesn't seem to work so I can't video chat with my team mates while playing. I can only voice chat. Still trying to find a solution other than use my other phone for video chatting and wifi connect to it with my Mate 10.
I only play Sonic forces, but I get stutters and low fps all the time. It is so annoying. First I thought it's the app but it never does that on my iPad... It is super smooth there surely 60fps. On my mate 10 pro it feels like 30fps at best sometimes dropping to 15/10. I also ran the phone maintenance thing and close all apps... Same thing happening.
Any ideas?

Mate 10 cant run "into the dead 2" smooth
I have compared it with s8 and diffrence was a lot
S8 was clear and smooth and no fps drops but mate 10 did ****
I gonne sell it just now after 2 days use
mate 10 pro on 129 runs everything smooth and fast for me...shadow fight 3 for example runs liquid smooth and several other games, with HD graphics and also lower graphics, all run fine..

PUBG Graphics Update

I've been using Mi A3 for over a week or so. This phone is really amazing as we don't get to see much stock android phones today. But the main problem is that PUBG is locked at very low settings. We can unlock it by PUBG Gfx tools but still I feel that the processor is capable of running the game at atleast HDR Ultra.
Can we expect to get those graphic options? Because even the Mi A2 performed better in PUBG than this. Is it because the SD 665 is a new processor or is it something with the 720p display.

The problem is not the phone but the game it self...i remember back then when the game in v0.13.0 where you can get smooth/ultra settings in game but in v0.14.0, ultra setting is gone so if you want a better setup then simple give some feedback the games devs so they can add HDR/ultra in the next updates...

Yes. I've tried with gfx tool and I must say it works flawlessly. The SD 665 is really good. The CPU+GPU even outperforms the Samsung's 9611 found in M30s. I'll write to the game devs. We can just hope for the update xD

why does my le max 2 feels laggy?

so i know that this phone is 4 years old. but in 2016/2017 it had a high end cpu/4gb ram(even today it has a higher antutu scores than lots of newers models). yet it feels so laggy to work on after some use, mine still has stock android. but i feel like when swaping between apps, or using them , it just feels crappy. also the phonebook behave weird, can't add phone numbers cause i get this thing ''phonebook stoped working'' , and almost all my contacts dissapeared like i deleted them. i'm not the type of person that changes phones every year,i had mine 3 years now. but i think i'm just gonna give up on this phone, and get something that gets software updates
Things get corrupted after a while, apps you've installed running in background hogging resourses, etc. Do a factory reset, or better still, flash a recent Anroid 9 or 10 rom. This phone still flies on the right rom.
Heyyo, yeah depending on your build of EUI ROM? It'll suck. Anything prior to 19s is definitely garbage. X821 19s was pretty good and same with x829 20s or x820 30s (albeit with ads). The best way to experience EUI ROM is CrisBalGreece modified versions.
Otherwise? I highly recommend custom ROMs. We have a lot of great Android 9 ROMs and Android 10 is pretty decent albeit with more bugs.

It simply because the chipset it is using is a "bad" one..... You can see this with every Snapdragon 820 and 821 phones(Zuk Z2, Google Pixel 1(OG) etc) ... They heat up and throttle down easily = lag... on paper the 82x should be able to outperform a SD625 any day but not so in real life.... with custom ROM they are much more manageable... I think you should definitely be fine with custom ROM unless you are planning on gaming on it...

The Xperia Z3 Compact are Snapdragon 801.... Those were great... on paper SD820 or 821 should be miles ahead in performance compared to 801 or 800... but IRL on most of the phones they usually suck... (I did saw someone swear that his Oneplus 3 ran great after getting angry because I said SD820 821 are bad chipsets... then again Oneplus 3/3T probably have a much bigger ROM community both dev and user wise)
unfortunately I also just recently took my Le Max 2 from the drawer and started fiddling with these new android 9/10 roms, I can't give much advice... I'm currently on Android 9 Lineage it's pretty stable.
Generally, you'd want custom ROM so you can remove the bloatware, install a custom kernel so you can use a kernel that better manage the chipset(battery or usagewise) and a config that might suit your usage...CMIIW

so today i have instaled the first time a custom ROM,after struggling with twrp for 2hours . i have instaled AospExtended ROM V6.0 [X2] (adroid PIE) . it move more smoothly for sure, but not sure it moves this way beucase it's just a fresh rom..will way some weeks to see if it keeps up.
and about instaling a custom kerne . isn't that coming instaled with the ROM?
I have my device for nearly two years, and I am using eui 6.0.30s CBG cleaned edition since last year... I never face any kind of lag or bug except the lag caused by power save mod, which automatically enables itself when the battery goes down under %5. I think full wipe+reinstall firmware would be a great solution for you.
Heyyo, I definitely don't agree that 820/821 is bad lol... That's ridiculous. It's true that back in 2016 no one cared about proper cooling for the SoC though. I've seen people mod their x2 and zl1/0's with thermal pads or non-conductive thermal paste and get a heck of a lot better thermal management for just a few pennies of extra cooling.
On any pie or Q ROM though, we do have tuned thermal-engine.conf by Shiva which helps quite a bit and also allows for better sustained performance too which also performs a lot better than EUI ROM which focuses more on lower temperatures than balancing thermals and performance.
Anywho, yeah, if you're upset with performance of EUI ROM? I'd definitely recommend a custom ROM. Anything on pie that's actively maintained is a good idea.
Android 10 ROMs still sometimes have performance stutters for now... So hopefully later on it'll work better, so that's why I recommend for now sticking with pie.

dude.. people mod their x2 and zl1/0's with thermal pads or non-conductive thermal paste and get a heck of a lot better thermal management for just a few pennies of extra cooling. .. I never had to do that on SD800/801 phones lol...
since you are very determined that its not a bad phone , I'm taking out my Le Max 2 a second time .... hehe... I occasionally play Mobile Legends.. any other tips you can give?
Nexus 5 was SD800 and was known for overheating issues

Like I said, the main thing would be to switch to a custom ROM that has Android Pie and is decently updated. Most of those pie custom ROMs will have pretty decent thermals while still delivering decent performance.
