Screen Backlight on Border Of My Screen ?? why ?? - LG G5 Questions & Answers

I notice screen Backlights on borders of my screen !! Is that a problem or normal ??

You are not alone, I have really bad back-light bleed issues as well as image retention. It's all the way down the side of my screen and there's even a little bit in the middle. Seems to be a common fault on the LG G5. Money is going to have to come out of my pocket to replace the screen. I only bought this G5 online three months ago. Ridiculous.

Possible pixel problem on second Hero phone, help ;(

Yesterday i bought a HTC Hero (my first one). When i turned it on and toke a good look at the starting screen (the one that says Hero, and HTC), i found a white pixel, probably dead or something. I went back to the store to get a new phone. This was not a problem at all and i got a new Hero. Now again, when i turned on the phone and toke a good look at the black screen, i also found 2 pixels with a other wierd problem:
The pixels also turned out white when i looked at them in a specifica angle. Just to be clear, i am watching on a black screen (starting screen). If you look at the screen and not in a specific angle i cant spot the pixels directly, but when i tilt over the phone slightly they show up and are 2 little white dots.
After i found out i downloaded the Detect Dead Pixel app. This app can create a black screen, the same screen as the home screen. When i use this app to spot the pixels again they are way less visible than on the home screen... I can spot 1 of them a little bit if i look at the screen in a certain angle and i can see a little dot, but i cant see them that good as on the home screen. They are not visible on other colors, only black.
I really dont know what to do with the phone now ... does anyone know what this is? im a bit concerned. Thanks!
After a bit more research on my phone i firugred that the dots really arent that visible. Maybe its just dust under the screen? When i put on a black screen using some kind of Android app i can not spot them. If the pixel is lazy or dead it should be clearly visible on a black screen right? for the lazy one then.
Anyway, i spotted a other problem on a black screen:
A brighter spot on the top part of the screen (like someone is pressing on it a little bit). Is this a problem ? im deciding if i should return the phone again..
Well its entirely upto you mate - i dont know what contract you've taken out but you may have that phone for 2 years. If your not entirely happy with it i'd take it back while you still can.
Issues with the screens rarely correct themselves.
My first Hero had around 10 dead pixels and i got it replaced as i wasn't happy with it. I now have one with a perfect screen and i'm really happy with it!
Well i just returned to the store and got another phone. This is the 3th one, and it still has problems, even more then the previous ones ....
On the boot screen there are about 10 very very tiny white wierd points visible ... im getting a bit frustrated here. What is this with all the screen problems ? :S
looks like they got a bad batch in your shop... have you considered powering up the phone while you are still in the store? might save you same time and way...

I have done that, but as i said, its only really visible in a dark room with screen brightness on 100%. I have checked the phone in the store and it just wasnt visible. When i checked the screen in a complete dark room i spotted the little things again. Looks more like dust to me =\
If your brightness is 100% you should see that one single pixel immediately.
Try making an image in paint (480*320) with a black background and a single white pixel. Open that image on your phone. The dead/lazy pixel should be just as bright as the one you drew.
Also the brighter spot is normal. It's called "backlight bleeding". Every lcd screen has this 'problem'.
They are not clearly visible, i think they are smaller then pixels, but they are countable on the bootup screen. When i tilt the screen them seem to change color (might just be dust). Green etc. I dont know what to think of it, come on. A wrong batch shouldn't be the problem if its dust, then its just a assamblation error. But 3 in a row?
I'm getting a bit pissed
It's dust or a fingerprint blocking a very small subpixel. Can't you just wipe it off? But I suspect very tiny scratches.
idk whether this is possible, but it might be dead subpixels. that would explain why they are smaller than a full pixel...
Does anyone know if that is possible? it sounds like a good explaination. Dead sub pixels could be the problem. They are smaller then pixels, but beg enough to be counted (i can count over 13). Little white dots on a 100% brightness black screen.
It must be dust, its a common question among hero owners. Most of the time the things they see is dust. It would be crazy if all new hero's have up to 10 or 13 dead pixels.
Ok well, here's what happened next:
I returned my phone again, god my cash back, bought a new one at a other store, SAME problem. Swapped it for a new one again, same problem!
Got my money back and i completely changed my mind of buying a Hero.
It is not dust. Its a perfect white dot, and definately some kind of pixel issue.
To bad..
Are you sure you're not being pixel-paranoid?
When reading all of this it sounds mostly like small dust particles under the screen. And looking at the number of phones you have tried, chances are you also got one with a real dead pixel (hot pixel, always on).
But I also think you are obsessed about it. My phone also have one dust thingy somewhere which I found just like you did (pixel tester, black screen). Smaller than pixel and less bright though.
I never notice the thing under normal use, unless I really go searching for it with a black background.
So you might make it bigger than it really is and miss out on a really nice phone.
Then again, we all have our own quality standards and its good yours is a high one!
I have had a tiny dead pizel since I bought my phone. Only really see it on the bootscreen.
I was always more bother by the light you can see coming from under the keys at the bottom and near where the lcd meets the keys.
I also have 3 dead pixels but they aren't that irritating.
I also discovered them when booting up the phone, but for me, they are sea blue (all three)
Maybe it is 2nd hand stuff HTC uses on their phones?
i have about 7 or 8 dead pixels too. it doesn't bother me too much anymore... only notice it in a completly dark room on the boot up screen... probably a common problem with the lcd screen the hero uses
All Hero's have this, or will have it inevitably:
The screen does not connect fully; there is a rubber-border between the glass and the metal frame surrounding the screen.
Look from the right angle, and you can see that there is a small 1/10th mm opening. Dust will come through here, and it will get on the screen.
HTC will wipe it off free of charge of course.
It is NOT a dead pixel; these can be seen from any angle, although the color changes a little but because of the viewing angle.
Call HTC and say you have dust under your screen, they will fix it for you, free of charge.

Screen defect

Hello to all
As the title says it's another screen defect that this phone have
I have noticed a darker area, which make almost a perfect rectangular shape upper to left of the screen and it is visible only in some circumstances
- screen brightness need to be lower that maximum (the lower it is the higher this defect is visible)
- mostly visible on grey image (for example the market startup) see other images in the links
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/85/img0636gb.jpg/
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/851/img0635ul.jpg/
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/864/img0633u.jpg/
not visible at all on black screen of course but when the screen is off and with a bright light (sunlight of a power lamp) in some right angles I can see some darker dots (looks to be some kind of liquid inside the screen) at the size of 5mm and also this rectangular shape (good eyes need here ) no picture for this because it is not visible with any camera
I wonder how came to this and is any possibilities to fix this such as those screen burners, could these help? or only a screen replacement?
PS: phone have no waranty
Thanks
Screen burns are permanent on AMOLED as far as I know. You'll either have to live with that or do a costly screen replacement.
Ah well, guess I have to live with it, not a major problem but it's looks a bit ugly sometimes.
Just read a bit more about amoled screen burn and it seems that the blue leds are the most that probably get weaker in time and causing this screen burn, and yes this is an explanation why on a blue screen this is almost not visible no mather of the screen brightness
Maybe burn all the screen with a white image, but I believe the result can be worst that this
Thanks

Blue Vertical Lines In Sunlight

Hey guys. Was out and about the other day and was using my phone and as I tilted the phone down out of the glare of the sun I noticed some weird vertical lines on my screen. Each evenly spaced same colour etc.
I can not replicate the effect unless there is large amounts of light or im outside in real light. BEAR IN MIND ITS ONLY VISIBLE AT CERTAIN ANGLES.
The lines don't appear on any pictures or hinder the video. They ar only visible during sunlight.
What im wondering has anybody else got this I will say issue. Or any insight as to what it could be? If there's a problem Carphone warehouse will want to repair it and not give me a swap for a new phone. What light does anyone have to share. Or am I just being paranoid?
My Titan is exactly the same, I think its just the way the screen works and is nothing to worry about.

I've got mine from Carphone warehouse. Haven't noticed this yet. They will replace it for you within 28 days. Else it goes to HTC for repairs. However, where did you find this sunlight? It's been so gloomy out here. BTW as mentioned above, this could be just the normal screen behaviour. The other two issues with screen that have come up so far are - the pink dot in the middle and grey keys visible on white background. Nothing back from HTC.
Hold your Titan with the screen directly facing you, at about 3/4 arms' length (as in, just sorta normally with your elbow bent a little) under diffuse light, with the phone powered up and the screen off.
Then tilt the phone backwards. As you get about 3/4 of the way back, you might see a regular pattern of thin stripes running up and and down on the screen.
They are not visible when the screen is powered up. I think it's just a normal part of the way the LCD panel works. As an analog, on my Dell Venue Pro, I could see a grid of dots under its AMOLED screen when looking closely at an oblique angle similar to as described above.
I also have a matte finish screen protector on my Titan, which might be making this more pronounced. In any case, it is absolutely *not* happening when the screen is powered up -- even in black areas of the screen.
Hmmm... Maybe it's a future charging grid.
have you guys noticed anything new in regard to htc amaze blue lines. i just go the phone a week ago and i have been noticying the same things. any new info thank.
My Titan also has these blue vertical lines, and it is seen only in daylight with screen off.
I see the same too but I thought it was from my screen protector...

2nd Screen Light Bleed - Want other user opinions.

Hey guys so I just picked up my LG V10 2 days ago, I knew there were some issues with light bleed on the upper left corner of the 2nd screen but I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best.
The first night I had the 2nd screen off, however last night I decided to give it a try since it seemed like an elegant idea to have on this phone.
In the darkness of my bedroom the light bleed from the upper left was utterly atrocious, it actually fans out and extends into the other screen to about where the notification bar is (this is with the main screen off). The light bleed is also quite bright at night, it is very visible from across the room and really destroys the user experience.
I'll update with photos this evening as I want to know if other users have a significant problem or it's something that happens on every few phones and I can exchange for a unit that hopefully has less bleeding.
I'd love your feedback on how the 2nd screen bleeding WITH MAIN SCREEN OFF is for you especially in a dark room.
Yeah mineb does exactly that..doesnt really bother me too much
If you're in a very dark or completely dark room, you're going to notice light bleed. It's unavoidable with LCD technology. Mine also bleeds a bit into the regular display. Look at the screen directly (not at an angle) and it should look a little better. Angles produce worse backlight bleed - you're going to notice when you're laying in bed and look over at the phone and see the backlight bleed being a lot worse.
The big concern is if the backlight is actually bleeding in normal day-to-day conditions. On my first phone, I noticed in the STORE that the upper left corner of the notification bar was brighter than the rest of the screen. It had backlight bleed bad up there to the point if it being visible in daylight on colored portions of the screen. Exchanged it for another phone on the spot and it looks completely fine now. In most conditions the second screen appears to be floating because your eyes are adjusted to the brighter ambient light and can't see the poorer contrast ratio of an LCD compared to an AMOLED. At night though, you will definitely see that the second screen would have been executed better if LG would implement OLED in their flagship phones.
I see a little bleed on the left edge of the second screen, when the main screen is off, but it doesn't bother me. I kind of like that the notification icon is brighter than the rest of the second screen because it helps me notice that I have a notification, especially since the phone has no notification LED (shame). The second screen is not important to me, plus I don't see the bleed when the main screen is on which is when I'm actually spending significant time on the phone.
There reason you see bleed is because the second screen has a dedicated white LED on the left edge that's separate from the main panel backlight and positioned to "inject" light from the side without being properly integrated with the panel's backlight diffuser. This is why you'll see this, to varying degrees, on every unit. When you're in a well-lit room with the main screen on, the second screen looks perfect, because that secondary LED is off when the main screen is on. Also, the second screen auto-dims based on the amount of ambient light, so you might see the bleed on the "high" mode when you first turn off the main screen, but not when it dims down to the "low" mode after a while. Maybe they'll introduce a new hardware revision that repositions the second screen edge LED or does something else to limit its bleed. We'll know in 1-2 months when the next batch of V10s hits the stores.
I replaced my V10 twice because it had yellow bleed at the BOTTOM of the screen by the navigation buttons and that annoyed me as hell, since it affects the colors of everything I do, especially watching movies. All three had second screen bleed. What was particularly interesting is that each had a different color temperature screen. My first one was reddish, the second one was blueish (like the G4), and my current one is greenish, it actually looks exactly like the Nexus 6P screen (I put them side by side to compare).
I'll agree with Nitemare3219's and siraltus' observations and comments. When the main screen is on nothing is really noticeable. When the main screen is off I have the second screen off. It's so dim I don't see the point to having it on. The second screen is a bit of a gimmick. If I had additional issues I might think of exchanging it (still have 10 days), but I don't notice any other screen issues, and my fingerprint reader works...with a case. Every LCD screen I've had has had some sort of bleed. The problem starts if it is noticeable during normal use/viewing.
Mine slightly lights up the whole right corner 1/5th down the screen, only visible in a dark room. I dont get bleed from the right like ive seen in pictures and youtube.
It's only noticeable when it's pitch black and my main screen is off, so it doesn't bother me at all. It's not noticeable any other time.
First the second screen has already become a staple of my use habits, it's no gimack. Yes bleed is there when main screen is off, no I don't like it, but don't feel it's as big an issue as some make it out to be. That's just me though, I can see it bothering some.

Same, the light bleed is noticeable in the dark, but not bothersome. It is not nearly brought enough to light up my room at all, and is very slight in the upper left corner of the second screen. For the usefulness of the second screen with my usage, it's an ok trade off for me.
If your not happy with it and your within the 20 days id return it. I did return my initial one and my second one is better with less bleed.
my bleeding is always noticeable but especially on dark rooms,
I posted the pictures here:

Where to buy a new screen

Hi,
I am asked to repair a broken screen of the X Pro ...second time.
For first replacement I ordered this part:
https://www.mobiltec24.de/BQ/Aquaris-X-Pro/LCD-Display-Touchscreen-Front-Rahmen-schwarz.html
But it was less responsive (especially the softkeys, but also in general), not as bright and not as colorful as the original screen.
Furthermore we faced random screen-freezes, which are gone after switching screen off/on.
Does anybody have a suggestion for me, where to buy a (hq/original) screen?
