can we root H960A? - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi everybody
I wanna buy V10. In our country we have H960A model
Can I root this model?

And which country is that and what H960A are sold there? If it is France or a French H960A: those can't be rooted. If you country is UAE or you buy a UAE H960A there might be a possibility to root it by flashing the European V20 firmware.
European H960A can be rooted after flashing a V20 firmware (latest is V20c)

I'm in Iran and we have middle east model here
so If I flash European H960A V20c,can I root?

I have LG V10 H960A, which appears to be European Version (no simlock). I rooted the phone running MM. Here are the steps:
- Request Bootloader Unlock key file from LG and unlock the bootloader by entering fastboot mode. Please be aware that your phone will be COMPLETELY WIPED.
- Install TWRP Unofficial version on this forum
- Install SuperSu right after
The detail steps and files please search in XDA.
However, I found no benefit of being root, an annoying message about phone security will appear every time the phone boots. In addition, rooted phone cannot use some direct payment softwares. There are not much bloatwares on the original firmwares, and you can disable them.
If you want to unroot and relock the bootloader, it is possible. The phone will be COMPLETELY WIPED again. And it will probably enter a bootloop mode (boot fails to verification, XXX missing). However, KDZ again the same version of Android before unlock will solve the problem.
The LG Backup function works very well, so Titanium backup makes less sense. Phone runs more stable without root.

[Q] Different firmware in a branded phone

Hi,
I have a LG P500, from Movistar - Telefonica Spain.
Firmware is v10b which is the last update it can receive through the official LG mobile update tool.
I've seen that there are ways to get other versions and flash them through KDZ updater. For example this last 2.2.2.
For example in another post it appears AVDZBK, which is vodafone.
However these versions belongs to companies different from mine (movistar).
Taking into account that my mobile is not unlocked, could I proceed anyway?
In that case, can I choose any of this FW or there are unlocked ones?
I'm afraid to download a firmware that is also locked but for a foreign company!!!
Thanks a lot...
Don't do it.
It is not adviced to update your phone to a firmware which may not be supported by your service provider... although rooting/custom recovery and using custom ROM fits the same category XD
But nah, there aren't that many new stuff to make you want to upgrade anyway, custom ROMs such as void are a lot better =)
Well the problem is he won't be able to root his phone to install custom recovery.

Is debrand for G5 available already?

Hi all,
I have seen a good offer for a branded G5 from an European carrier and I was wondering if there is any known way yet to de-brand it, in order to free it from the bloatware that I suppose it will be packed with.
If not, do you think normally this would be possible within some months from release, or were there already cases in the pase where this wasn't possible ever?
Thank you very much.
Derp
Accepted... I wrote a bit careless and I can see how the request was kinda funny.
Let me reformulate... In case I find the branding too disturbing and I want to flash a stock unbranded image (which I believe is possible for European H850 even if branded by carrier, right??) then I will miss OTA and maybe won't even be able to sideload OTAs like I used to with Nexus 5?

If you remove the original firmware flashing a different one you will lose OTA, but it seems that on G4 is possibile to receive update through LG Bridge (but i'm not sure), obviously the update you will receive will always been related to your brand.
Sideload as far as i know is not possibile on LG devices, because the Stock Recovery is made for Hard Reset only.
For now it's not possible to flash firmware on the G5, but some users are working both on LGUp and Flashtool 2.0.1.6 Here

OK thanks!
I would not see the point of providing a way to unlock the bootloader from LG itself even, if then you don't give people the possibility to flash something else on it, or maybe I'm missing the point of unlocking bootloader.
(talking about Italian Vodafone or Tim btw)

With the official bootloader unlock you lose the warranty, and there is no way to recover it, by flashing a no-brand firmware on al lg device the warranty remain (exception made for us carriers maybe).
Note that with an unlocked bootloader you can flash many things (roms, kernel, mods, xposed ecc...), with LGUp or Flashtool you can only flash official lg firmware.
So, LG provides an official bootloader unlock so the users can use their smartphone's full potential, but doesn't allow to flash official firmware because there is the smartphone update center for otas, and LG Bridge fo recovering and flash the whole firmware update, and not only the ota.

Is there anyone who can share his LG G5 KDZ (2017 update) with me from EU or DE?

Hello guys Iam searching for the latest firmware update (my lg g5 says there is an update but I have no chance to update my phone.... it says error code 0x125000).
Is anyone there who got this for EU or DE?

You didn't say which G5 you've got, but all KDZ files for the H850 can be found here: https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h850-firmwares/
If it's not the H850, click on the "LG G5" link in the LG Series column on the right hand side of the H850 page for more models.
H850
I got the h850 and the newest update is not on this page... the bridge says the newest update is called H85020b and i can't find it for EU or German.. can't update my LG too... and the support from LG doesn't know how to fix my phone... so....

If you've rooted your phone, that's probably why the OTA update failed. To get the OTA update you'll first have to flash one of the stock KDZ files posted for your phone, accept and install the OTA update to get the latest firmware, after which you can TWRP your phone with fastboot and flash SU.

my phone isn't and wasn't rooted.. so idk where the problem is.. i tried the IMEI kdz finder and they don't work as well so i can't find the kdz for my phone... D: maybe it's because i flashed a kdz with flashtool before (my phone is vodafone branded and i didn't know that i baught it from amazon from the original LG... and i got an branded device so i installed an open EU kdz..
@N0!Z3 ExPl0
this could be the reason because you didn’t find 20b on LG firmware sides. 20b seems to be a "vodafone only" update!
as i know, this problem appears because your phone is a vodafone brandet phone!
You have to debrand your phone if you want to use other firmware for it. Ask Google!
please read this too -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/help/debrand-g5-available-t3362660

LG L-51A (V60 Docomo Variant) Firmware update through flashing

Hi, Not without problems, still fighting with it. Actually crossflash has happened but there are issues now. Is there any chance that you could prepare a dump of your version? It would be helpful for extract the boot.img from it.
I can crossflash at&t variant to EA with the help of firehose. Could you share a back up of your modem_a partition? I want to see what carrier is supported in the this variant.
I can not reach any of the files actually. What I did is that crossflashed my Docomo variant to EA which went without error. But NT code is not matching now and there is no bootloader unlock option. Not only the LG stopped to provide unlock.bin but bootloader menu is not available. If you reach there on any way the device is restarting in normal mode. I was thinking in many possibilities but not sure if any is feasible. tried to change between many EA ROMS. Also I was thinking after all to do the chip erase by LGUP. As the PDM is not working now probably would not work after erase, in that case one more step only bacward. By the way I dont know why the LGUP can not touch the device in the blue factory mode. That is the point where the PDM set can not be done for the NT change. Otherwise root or bootloader unlock would not be important to me about other reason than replace bootloader to the EA version.

I was actually just about to try to crossflash my L-51A to the TM2X variant. What do you mean by NT code is not matching? What advice can I get about doing this?

can you please make a full dump of your FW?
i have a ruined L-51A with a lost IMEI, and I didn't think I'll end up having this problem so I didn't back up the whole contents...
Same here. If anyone has a docomo kdz please let us know.
LG v60 51a does not have kdz.
But if you update outside of Japan, try it like a link. I tried it in the Korean community and confirmed that it was updated.
Cross-flash will be difficult in a general way.
The partition composition is different between the US version and the European version.

Cannot OTA update V600TM

Hello all,
I recently purchased V60 with model number V600TM. I'm outside of US.
And it stuck on Android 10 with security patch on February 2020.
Any recommendation, please?
Can anyone confirm if i can use this method here?
How to Flash Stock Firmware on LG Smartphone ? - LG-Firmwares.com
Tutorial how to flashing LG device. Change or update Firmware on LG phones.
lg-firmwares.com
That method using LGUP is totally fine but you need the firmware for 600TM. Android 12 is not available for download from the site yet.
Hello,
received yesterday my unit with Android 10 and with exactly you issue: unable to apply the downloaded OTA update.
There are 3 types of TM software otas or roms, there is tmobile, us cellular, and canadian so make sure you downloed the rom that has the initials TMO next to it.
I updated my TM version v60 to A12 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/lmv600tm-restore-ugrade-guide-a12.4447457)
After that I can get OTA but cannot install successfully (P.S. bootloader is unlocked and the device is rooted)

Use a vpn and you will get updates
Let me repeat myself:
If you are rooted, OTA will not happen. Your phone will download the update but not complete the updating. The advice to use LGUP for partition restoration will NOT help! First, you will lose your rooted status and two, OTA will not succeed. Bringing you back to square one.
