Soft Brick - Moto Z Questions & Answers

So do not know exactly know where I went wrong but just got today and tried to twrp and root and then use this rom. So all I get is recovery and the screen that says bootloader is unlocked and nothing else. I will not boot past that. I have tried all these images.
XT1650-03_GRIFFIN_RETEU-EMEA_6.0.1_MPL24.246-17_cid50_rooted
GRIFFIN_VERIZON_MCL24.203-22_cid2_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml
Android-7.0-Deodexed-Moto-EU
Android-7.0-Odexed-Moto-EU
and no dice, the closet I got was was the Deodexed and it booted but nothing worked,
This is the retail from Amazon XT1650-03 64GB
Any help would greatly be appreciated my friends.
Is there not a stock image I can use RSD to restore back to stock?

Help! Everything is gone!

My friend bought the phone from a friend, and when he turned it on, it was stuck in a bootloop. I went into recovery and found that the WHOLE firmware was gone! There's no recovery image or anything.
I need the original firmware or something that has EVERYTHING. I don't care if it's bloated or not. Just something that will make this phone work again.

I'm pretty sure that the "entire firmware" isn't gone simply because you got into a custom recovery. I'd like to help, but I can't identify a problem.
It won't let me load anything. I tried putting an update.zip on it, but the phone is missing some things.
I would go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275570
If it has a custom recovery, probably has root/s off. What probably happened is that the guy selling it did a full wipe in recovery which wipes the ROM. Did that accidentally on my DS7 before I sold it.
I would download install the rooted/deodexed from the link above, put it on the sd card, and flash it from recovery. good luck.
Have you tried putting a boot flashable rom on the root on the sd card?

Need Help!

lol I was just wondering if someone could help me with this. I got an unlocked ATT Note today. It came with an ICS Rom on it. I wanted the tmobile modem on it and it said you need a GB rom. When I tried to go into recovery, it took me to the android recovery, so I couldnt download a rom. I dont know how to use odin and i somehow got stuck in a boot loop, help?

[Q] Phone wont boot past HTC screen..What else can i try?

Hi all, hoping someone here knows whats going on! im so confused now haha.
i had the stock ROM that came with the HTC ONE X+ installed...
Followed the OTA popup Update that instructed me to update the firmware...
After this completed and restarted phone now wont boot past HTC screen.
Steps Tried So Far :
- I can get in to bootloader (pwr+vol dwn)
- I can get in to fastboot usb
- Phone has debugging off unfortunately (as it had stock rom on it; had no changes done whatsoever from factory settings)
- Pressing recovery does nothing does nothing to help
- Clearing Cache and Factory reset does nothing to help
- pressing bootloader does nothing
- Ive tried Fastboot flash recovery CWM.img
- Ive tried fastboot flash boot endeavorou.img (which i got from unzipping the CM file - however there was other folders that unzipped which wouldn't have been in the .img[?] so don't know if that was the best idea)
- Ive tried getting the identifier_token thing with Htcdev.com and unlocking it - which said it worked and flashed the file to the phone. However on HTC website it says it should have popped a screen up to ask and confirm some things which didn't occur)
No idea what to do now. .
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Don't know if you can find one, but if you google a stock image of your phone and find one, you could fastboot flash it. Had to this before, but not on an HTC.

Were you rooted before you did the update? Since you should never use the OTA while rooted as far as I know
Thanks for the replies!
- It is a non-rooted phone; Everything before the OTA update was fully stock and how HTC had given it.
- I will give a go at flashing the stock ROM
Any other ideas?

I think since you are on a contract you should go to O2 Customer service and report it and they should guide you through the steps to fix your issue. Since I don't see any issue with Other CIDs other than O2.

Hi, I'm the poster from the other thread with the same issue.
Did you say you tried flashing an older stock image? Did you try flashing a custom rom image like cyanogen etc?
Just wondering if these are possible or not before I send for repair and have to wait weeks for it to come back.

[Q] Stuck at Boot Splash after Installing custom ROM

I made a stupid mistake when unlocking my DNA and flashing a custom ROM (ViperDNA 4.1). I ran the rumrunner S-OFF which seemed to go without flaw. The mistake I made was checking to see if root installed which I'm assuming now it didn't. I installed Clockwork Recovery on it and booted into recovery and installed ViperDNA which gave errors. When I rebooted I was stuck at the boot splash. I tried an unbricking method posted on YouTube that required going into Fastboot USB and running an OEM Lock command and then using HTC's ROM update utility to reflash stock back to it which failed. I've rooted and flashed recovery to a lot of devices so I wouldn't consider myself to be a total noob but I'm at a loss here. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :fingers-crossed:
Black htc screen with triangles on each corner
Man I really need help. ...I tried to flash and something went wrong to where I erased the entire os and I continued to fix this issue because all I had access to was twrp(custom rom) and bootloader. then what was crazy is that it appeared that based on the fact that I was on 4.4.2 kit kat that I was unable to fix it. after researching I found a ruu that didn't have the boot image so I flashed the factory ruu with no boot image and my htc scrren with the status bar filled all the way up but it never moved off of that screen I assume because that ruu didn't have the boot image so I thought that common sense would be to at one of the boot images that I had to the zip file of the ruu without the boot image....that's when I made things worst and now im stuck on this htc screen with the four triangles...my pc wont detect my device and im in need of some serious help....can you help? can anybody help?
I believe i can help!!!

I had the same problem last night. I couldn't get fastboot to work properly and thought I was screwed. Here is what I did:
I downloaded a stock rooted rom and put it on a flash drive. I used my USB OTG cable and booted into recovery. I then mounted the external drive and flashed the stock 4.1 rom back on it and that cleared it up. I haven't re-tried to flash the ROM I tried, but I think my issue was an old recovery version.
Once you get back to stock, update or change your recovery to a new one and then try again would be my suggestion.
If you don't have an OTG cable, I'd suggest at a minimum order one for when it happens again

[Q] SPH-l600 4.4.2 OTA/Flash leaves me with no OS.

A couple weeks ago sprint sent the OTA for the SPH-l600. Well short story it left me with no OS and stuck in a boot loop. I had to quick start my education in custom roms because all other options to get my phone back to stock were out. The thing is i tried so many times to flash the NE4 update to my phone to get back on stock since i can not downgrade but when ever i do i get boot looped again with no OS. I searched the forum and haven't found a solution for this problem. If someone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated and i apologize for posting a new thread if there is a fix already posted. thanks in advance.
same here

Are you still having this issue, did you find a solution? The same issue happened to me and I've everything I can to get it back. The phone even went into KNOX 0x1 after the install.

i have not found a solution as of yet. I have found a stock recovery that I flashed and it works but its not helping the situation after trying to adb the NE4 .img files. I even tried TWRP sideload. I unzipped the NE4 update but the files just don't seem to work. I downloaded over and over again but it just wont in install. And yes i also went into KNOX 0x1 after that OTA. I am Trying to find a way to flash the boot.img from the 4.4.2 Firmware. tried a few methods that haven't worked. hopefully i can piece the missing parts together and see what i come with. there seems to be no DEV's for the SPH-l600 so im on trial and error. I have my phone up so I can still do the normal. Just want my lte and spark back. My Navi's been crap every since.
