[Guide] Enable OTG support in Honor 5c (Tested in NEM-L22) - Honor 5C ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Develo

Files Credits: BadWolfYe
Reference thread: here
Note:-
-> Rooting may* void your phone warranty, and you won’t claim it back. (Honor India officials confirmed me that Rooting and bootloader unlocking doesnot voids the warranty).
-> Follow the steps correctly otherwise you may brick your device. I am not responsible for any damage of your phone.
-> Ensure that your phone has at least 50-60% charged to prevent the accidental shutdown in-between the process.
REQUIREMENTS(MUST)
1. Should have a custom recovery installed.
2. Should be rooted and SuperSu installed.
[Files needed to install custom recovery and flash Supersu in one package here.]
[Rooting Guide here ]
PROCEDURE
1. Boot in to twrp recovery(Vol.Up+Power) and Choose Install and flash the file here through twrp.
2. After installation Clear "dalvic cache" and reboot the system.
3. The reboot takes time(5-10minutes),so donot interfere the boot.
4. After bootup, install the apk from here.
;and Grant SuperSu access when prompted.
5. Now connect any pendrive via otg cable and see the magic.
Note: After installing the apk you can control the otg functionality using the Activate/Deactivate buttons in the App. Incase if the MTP or Charging doesnt work, press on Disconnect option in the app.

You did the right thing.

Can anyone give me confirmation regarding the working of these mods on other models?

please make a video and share that we will get clear idea regarding OTG enable in honor 5C

Hello, the apk doesn't ask SuperSu for root permission. I have a NEM-L51 rooted, and the app is telling me that root permission is necessary, but never asks for it.
An idea on how to fix that, plz ?

otg isn't working
my otg cable is not working. I flashes this zip file and installed otg app with supersu grant permission. thereafter its not working. It can't show any otg drive in my file manager. Anyone has any solution???

In previous posts someone solved it for me. For some reason the latest supersu doesn't work. Root your phone with older version. I routed with Super su 2.65. Then flash the zip and reboot. It should work, did for me. Then install the latest super su 2.79 and it should remain working. Although a couple of times it forgot it has root after flashing the latest supersu. Just repeat steps again..
Hope this helps..and don't thank me,thank the person who posted the solution but you'll have to read a few threads....:silly:

Yes, i confirm that this manipulation does solve the problem. I did it following the advice i got on this thread. I must still thank you for spending time answering me.
I think i'll have to repeat the operation shorlty anyway, because i had to unroot my device to install a system update, and now i have to root it again ^.^

[Q] Framework, bootloop, how to fix

Hello,
I have a rooted Iocean G7.
I wanted to install the framework module with the Xposed installer app. This was no success, I got a bootloop. After this I contacted Iocean, and I have flashed my phone with the computer. It works fine now, as it should.
Now my question is, how can I install the framework module without getting a bootloop or other problems?
Thank you,
Robert

That could be possible, I am going to ask to rovo98, if he can make framework compactible with my phone.
I hope he wants to do
On Tweakers they think that the Rom is not compactible, but I do not think so... You?

You guys know that Xposed puts a framework disabler zip on your internal storage? All you have to do is boot into a custom recovery and install it.

What root method did you do that didn't require USB Debugging to be enabled?? But yea, I dunno about that. You're going to have to find out though. You'll need the SP Flash Tool to work, whether it's to install the custom recovery, or to install the entire stock firmware.

There is a 'Super User' setting in Settings which I enabled.
I tried installing PdaNet but that does require USB debugging to complete the installation.
Isn't there a standard recovery mode on these phones that I can use (combination key press) to install a rom copied onto the SD card?

That's pretty handy. But no, the stock recovery does not support that. You might be able to get out of it just from doing a factory reset in the stock recovery, but it's hard to say since Xposed makes changes to /system as well and the factory data reset does not affect the /system partition, just /data

hi good day how to root iocean g7

[Kernel/Root] Root for the SM-G360T1 5.1.1

Root method for 5.1.1 for the SM-G360T1 THIS WILL TRIP KNOX. If you don't want to trip knox don't use this. If you do use it and whine you tripped knox because you didn't read ,we will all point and laugh at you.
Named it TrapKernel because well its not my normal HispAsian Kernel and I listened to a crap ton of Trap Music while doing it.
Thanks to @g.lewarne and his root method with his Unibase and Unikernel for the s6 , we finally have root after I ported it over to us. So be sure to thank him for his work.
What's included:
Auto installation of root and busy box
Kernel set to permissive
Otherwise stock
So here's the deal. Stupid simple.
Before you do anything, go to settings/about device and tap Build Number til you unlock dev options. Go into dev options and make sure OEM Unlock is checked. Now you can continue.
1. Put Phone in Download mode
2. Open Odin
3. Connect Phone
4. Put Kernel in AP Slot
5.Flash it
6. Reboot and profit
Notes:
Download SuperSu from the Playstore. Its not included.
If at first it doesnt boot, pull the battery and reboot.
Video Tutorial of Installation Thanks to @TheDerekHarper

Do NOT mirror this link. Period.
links removed. It's outdated by years lol
Special thanks to:
@g.lewarne for the obvious reason of being awesome and his root method for the s6.
@bogarty for testing multiple tests
@Chainfire for SuperSU

Heres the kernel source that is set to permissive and will allow root if anyone wants to fork it and build a kernel:

rooted aqt80
Hope I'm not to late to help. So i got root with kingroot, (not kingoroot) fast and efficient to be sure but i have real trust issues with..well anybody really, Chinese hackers with backdoor accesses for sure. That said, and not having anything valuable on this brick-to-be the performance gains were pretty substantial. Like day and night. Might be because i only use it on Wi-Fi at home so i was able to can all the telephone crap, oh but i do love pushing uninstall on bloat. Almost makes the frustration of no one knowing how to root the thing worth it. Anyway, here's the kingroot link. Be warned, It will intigrate, and it was still there after a hard reset (i sometimes love canning boat a bit too much) which creeped me out enough to uninstall it just to be sure, and it did.
Xda won't let me post the link. Is actually on this site somewhere or google. just don't do kingoroot by accident. Been there done that

[ROOT] SM-J727P Galaxy J7 Perx TD-LTE

Below you will find my procedure to root the SM-J727P Galaxy J7 Perx / MSM8953
This procedure has only been tested on J727PVPU1AQB9 firmware. It may work for future releases or it may not.
If an updated firmware becomes available my advice is to update with FLASHFIRE to maintain root.
This took some doing and was a tough nut to crack. I don't own this device and much thanks goes to those that stuck with it in the testing phase, without whom it would not have even been possible. Credits below.
To see how we got here and before asking any questions click this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/help/root-sm-j727p-galaxy-j7-perx-galaxy-j7-t3598117
DISCLAIMER: YOU FLASH THESE AT YOUR OWN RISK. THE KNOX COUNTER WILL BE TRIPPED AND WILL POTENTIALLY VOID YOUR WARANTY. HAVING THE STOCK FIRMWARE TO HAND IS ALSO ADVISED
NOTE: BEFORE MAKING MODIFICATIONS, ON SOME ANDROID 5.1.1/6.0/7.0 DEVICES IT IS NECESSARY TO GO TO:
Settings -> Developer Options -> OEM unlocking
AND ENABLE OEM UNLOCK FIRST OR YOU MAY ENCOUNTER 'BLOCKED BY FRP LOCK' WHEN FLASHING.
Instructions:
◘ 1. Download the files below:
J727P-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3_rooted_boot_AQB9
ODIN 3.12
SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones
◘ 2. Install the USB driver and ODIN to Windows.
◘ 3. Boot your device to RECOVERY mode then select FACTORY RESET. THIS WILL WIPE YOUR DEVICE AND YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA. (This procedure is required to remove encryption or your device won't boot)
◘ 4. From RECOVERY, IMMEDIATELY Boot your device to DOWNLOAD mode then connect your USB cable. (DO NOT LET YOUR DEVICE REBOOT NORMALLY OR YOUR DEVICE WILL RE-ENCRYPT)
◘ 5. Run ODIN and place the J727P_SuperSU-v2.79-SR3_rooted_boot_AQB9.tar file as is in the AP slot. Don't change any options and hit START.
◘ 6. Wait for the device to flash and reboot.
◘ 7. Install the SuperSU apk from Play store and you should be rooted.
◘ 8. Have fun!

I got the encryption error on reboot. I then did the reset it required and rebooted. I installed supersu just to see what it would say. It says root not properly installed in root checker, so I guess that means its there but I guess its a binary issue? Is there something that I didnt do correctly or a step I missed?

Whoops glad you pointed that out, forgot to include that step!
I factory reset, booted directly to download mode, flashed tar, phone rebooted. I installed Supersu but still not rooted.

Strange, it works perfectly on Marshmallow. Looks like we're going back to the old method of manually pushing su.img to data!
Will update shortly.
Have you tried rebooting again to see if works after that?
Just did a reboot and same deal.

I think I've just found the issue. Try this version instead, no need to format, just install with ODIN.

If you grant root permission before opening supersu apk but after downloading it, it does not ask to update binary with first op build

Say again. Can you explain in more details, not sure I understand?
After process in op, after downloading supersu do not open it, download something that requires root and grant it. It will grant without ever opening supersu. I granted flashfire and flashed sr3 just to make sure. After reboot i opened the supersu app and it asks for no update. Although disabling knox did not work for me.

OK I see. Can you do me a favour and test the updated version?
First delete su.img from /data or just unroot from SuperSU settings then reboot to download mode and install the new version. Your device should auto re-root.

Root has been achieved my friend. At first a flashed it and when it booted I got the encryption error. I just pulled the battery and then tried to boot into recovery. Instead of going in recovery it booted like normal. I installed Supersu and it got stuck attempting to disable Knox. Well after about 2 minutes or so of watching that I just went to root checker and there it was. I think I can speak for everyone when I say job well done!!!:good:

Quick question, must you have custom recovery in order to install Xposed or is it just a suggestion?
After deleting su in /data andfull unroot, flashed newer build and supersu reports no binary, not even one to update, no root

Thanks for confirming. OP updated.
You can use Flashfire to install Xposed.
ashyx thank you for your efforts. Thanks to everyone else that helped as well. Guess what I just ordered. Can't wait to get my new phone and root, install viper4android. Both are a must for me and I never own a phone I can't have both on.

When the reboot is repeated,
please flash the original firmware to odin
and try again from the beginning.
from CIAO7
after unrooting, repeating format is required to reroot. Works flawless. Thankyou again. Looking forward to a fully functional twrp now!!

It's next on my hit list. Just need to figure out why the source built kernel doesn't boot.
Now that root is achieved there's more chance of finding out what's going on, so I'll be calling on you guys again at some point for logs.

So I got the KNOX Reset App (LEGALLY)

This is kind of storytime... I got the application by redeeming a code that was posted as a gift on their fanpage at Facebook. I had to sent them via Telegram the Google play ID order, something that I couldn't find. I explained that and they understood me and said that if I could send the code that I got the application, they are gonna send be the actual files. So I received the files and I'm ready to begin! I don't have much spare time so I'm gonna do this whenever I have the time to do so. Wish me luck! I'm gonna keep you guys updated and let you know what happened.

I actually meant what is preventing you from installing supersu in system mode, it's simple enough? Also which device is this?

Didn't you see the post I send you? The "code" is
Echo SYSTEMLESS=false > /data/.supersu

OK first things first. You have to reinstall SuperSu for that code to work AND a patched boot.img.
Second for what reason do you need SuperSU to be in system mode?

Thank you for your time. But can you wrote the full steps below? Because I'm tired of getting into a bootloop only because I am not able to understand the instructions! You can do it only of you want to!
Secondary, the Knox Reset app has a plugin to make the success rate bigger of turning the 0x1 back to 0x0 (as far as I know) and the plugin needs system mode root :/
Lol right now I'm not rooted because I'm tired of the bootloops while rying to system mode root

Easiest way is to reroot systemless. After rooting back up the boot partition with TWRP.
Unroot then install SuperSU in system mode.
Finally restore the boot.img from the backup.
Reboot.
Note also be aware that system mode root is hit and miss on devices running nougat.
You still haven't stated which device?

Then you have a 50/50 chance of root working in system mode.
Also tbh I think this knox app is fake or it just fakes knox to 0x0 the same way Magisk can.
