[Root]Force High Impedance Mode On LG V20 - LG V20 Themes, Apps, and Mods

I'm going to make this quick and and to the point! You will need root access.
I have attached the modified file. If you want to use it download it and skip to step 5.
1.) Copy "/system/etc/mixer_paths_tasha.xml" to your pc for ease of editing.(Keep an original copy to be safe)
2.) Open the copied file in WordPad
3.) Locate the following
Code:
<path name="headphones-hifi-dac">
<ctl name="Es9018 Master Volume" value="0"/>
<ctl name="Es9018 AVC Volume" value="8"/>
<ctl name="Es9018 HEADSET TYPE" value="1"/>
</path>
4.) Change code to this
Code:
<path name="headphones-hifi-dac">
<ctl name="Es9018 Master Volume" value="0"/>
<ctl name="Es9018 AVC Volume" value="1"/>
<ctl name="Es9018 HEADSET TYPE" value="2"/>
</path>
5.) Copy the modified xml to "/system/etc"
6.) Power your device off all the way, then turn it back on
7.) Profit.
You'll know it works because when HI-Fi is on the volume will be significantly louder. It will still say "Normal audio device" though.
Note: I had to restart my phone twice. I think it was because the first time I selected "Power off and reboot" when it turned back on I had no sound.
The second time I removed the battery and turned the phone back on, it worked perfectly aftwards.

Great work, just gave me a reason to root my V20

Yeah, It's a pretty daunting task to root this phone. I miss the easy days lol . And I know what you mean I wasn't expecting it to be as lound as it was

For sure, brother! The Samsung epic touch days were the worst for me. I bricked a total of 11 phones. My buddy worked at Sprint at the time. I'm now with TMO. But I just can't believe fix/mod thing you came up with! It's CRAZY LOUD and CLEAR also!!!! I can see why LG didn't have this set initially from stock! Thanks much!
*p.s. - it was a bee-haatch trying to find those lines to make changes lol! (I did it through the phone) Fellas, scroll all the way down first then work your way up to find the lines. 100 times quicker

Wow that sucks!! It seems you would've benefited from using moded file I uploaded right before you're post xD. Sorry, I wasn't able to add attachments when I first posted it for some reason.

So this is better than the dac fix for v10 in the playstore ?
Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk

You suck!!!! Hahaha! Nice! Without your fix, I was able to handle listening to my headphones with my HIFI-DAC all the way to 75. But now I can't. It's amazing how my sound is so LOUD without any sacrifices of quality.

I can't wait to hardwire my V20 to my megabooms.

should we rename the existing mixerpath with a .bak at the end?

After doing this my Viper wont process when playing from Google Play Music... DI Radio and others still get processed by Viper and it's louder.

[MOD] Old school Transformers transforming sound for when you connect dock or charger

Hey guys,
Here is an ogg file that is the old school transformer sound for when you connect you dock/charger.
The full location to place the file is /system/media/audio/ui/KeyboardDock.ogg
Obviously make a backup of the file that lives there now, then place the attached unzipped file in it's place. change its permissions to rw-r--r-- with root explorer or similar.
No need to reboot, it will just work.
I am not responsible if you mess things up with your Prime.
Note: The same sound is played when connecting to the keyboard dock and the charger, so even if you don't yet have the dock you still profit.
I hope you all enjoy it as much as I am.
I hope you're all as sick of it as I am.
EDIT: I have now discovered that occasionally/quite often , the whole file is not played. I can't help that and I'm probably gonna find a better noise anywho.
EDIT 2: Why did I do this.........? I should feel .....ashamed ..of ....myself..... !!

Have to be rooted to use root explorer to copy the file where it needs to go.... orrrr un-rooted I guess you could use ADB?
I tried playing with some of the various UI sounds, but it seems that some of them (i.e. the dock/charger sound) have some sort of time restriction. It only seems to play the first second of the sound file. If anyone can figure out how to modify that and increase the time I would be your bestest friend!
This: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lipishum.anroidabottransformer (confirmed working on my part, I also used it on my OG Transformer).
Has the movies' sound as well as the cartoons' sound (as well as the developer's kid going *doot doot doot*).

Yeah, it's very strange. At first it would play the whole file for me every time, but then it would behave as you have mentioned. Hence why I just left this thread to slowly die away.

Loud volume hack not working...?

My friend has the galaxy s3 4g but it isn't working. I have flashed it, copied the file directly from my phone onto his phone but still won't work. Why? I open the file in his phone and all the settings are same as mine but it won'twork.
First of all, What are you talking about? Difficult to understand what exactly is going on.... Phone is not working or app "Loud Volume" or hack?
Other thing, this is i9300 section.....

I believe its loud volume mod kinda hack...i remember it being there as.a mod in foxhound rom installation settings...

You don't know what the loud volume hack is? I thought it was a pretty popular mod.
It basically just replaces the default_config file with another edited one and makes the phone twice as loud.
Just the problem is its not working on one of my friends phone. It's worked on mine (i9300) and a workmates (i9305) but it's not working on my friends i9305.

It will work if its the default gain file and has actually replaced the existing file .
Or just edit it yourself .
Suggest you ask in the louder vol hack thread if its a known problem .

Hi there,
I too cannot get the volume hack (editing default_gain.conf file) to work (originally here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722136).
I think its because I have an I9305 (SIII LTE), and the hack only works on I9300.
I do not have permissions to post on this thread directly, hence posting here.
Help would be appreciated so I can actually hear my music above the crap music coming from the speakers at the gym!

The loud hack didn't work for me either...
What I found that it didn't work when I had perseus kernel, and just now I installed foxhound 2.5 all over again with Siyah kernel and it seems to be working.
or maybe it's just Siyah kernel that uses louder output.. dunno...
Hope it will help you.

[REF][MOD] Volume Boost

jovy23 over on the T-mobile side of the S4 forums came up with this volume hack.. well maybe hack is a bad word. Its a mod
Anyways, I threw it on mine (manually adb pushed /system/etc/snd_soc_msm/) and its a noticeable difference. (yes it also works btw). I haven't been brave enough to go higher than the moderate, but I figured I'd give it to anyone who wants to go give it a shot.

Hey, not a stupid question. The only stupid question is the one not asked ( regardless of some of the members here... eh hem)
You'll need ADB if you plan on doing it from your computer or you'll need root browser depending on how you want to do it.
Root is required, as you have to modify system folders.
If you don't know what you're doing, I'd recommend getting root browser.
1) Place the two files (snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3, and snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_auxpcm) on your SD card.
2) Navigate to System/etc/snd_soc_msm and delete the files (snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3...and it's brother) there.
3) Copy and paste the files from your SD card to replace them.
4) Reboot your phone.

Thanks for the post. Once i finally get around to rooting my S4 Ill have to give this a try. Iv never been great doing mods and stuff. SO hopefully this is pretty easy. Just about the only thing Iv disliked about my S4 is the volume output. Can hardly hear my notifications if im in a place thats not pretty quite.

I haven't seen an AOSP rom for the S4 yet, but I would assume no. The file does not exist at the same location on stock 4.2 ( checked on my GNex prior to typing this). I would venture to say that this is a TW exclusive mod.

Calls dropping out

On my Verizon LG G3 sometimes people I am talking to complain that it sounds like I am getting far away and then they can not hear me for a second before the audio for them comes back. When I researched this other people with the Verizon G3 have had this issue and I am wondering now that custom recovery can be flashed, will custom roms/kernals fix this issue? it seems like there is something off with the noise cancellation and that is why it cuts out if not held just the right way.
Having the same issue, wondering the same thing.. Hope it'll 'get fixed' though.

I have voice enhancement unchecked but,I don't have an option for background noise suppression/cancellation. Is that an extra option that you need root to access? My solution for this issue is to sell my g3 and switch to a new phone.

Well I was able to install g3 tweakbox without root and saw the noise cancellation item and it was unchecked already. Not sure if it was because I was not rooted and maybe if i root and install exposed that when I go in it would be checked off for noise cancellation so that I could then disable it.

Volume booster

I felt like the G4 was plenty loud as is, but I still modified a few things to get it slightly louder. Using solid explorer:
Root storage -> system -> etc -> mixer_paths.xml
You'll see: <ctl name="RX1 Digital Volume" value = xx>
Please note that certain variants may have different files. I distinctly remember Verizon G3 users had a different file to modify in order to get the sound louder. This may be the case for specific variants of the G4 as well.
I replaced all the digital volumes, from RX1 to RX8 to 90 and noticed a bit of a difference in everything. I'm not quite sure what each one does specifically, as the G3 had a bit this written out a bit cleaner, but 90 seems like the sweet spot for me in the G4. I scrolled down the entire xml file and couldn't really find anything else helpful (more like skimmed it, others may be able to find something).
Now if only I could get rid of the annoying feature that constantly puts the volume down whenever I put headphones in! Ugh.

Yeah, I'm actually getting annoyed by the G4 and how quiet it is. I've even started considering headphone app options or even a separate MP3 player!
I have Viper installed and it doesn't help enough...
Now, with the 'RX*' lines, I see the large list near the top of the file, but did you also change the ones that are listed throughout under the separate headings/subsections?

Yeah, I'm actually getting annoyed by the G4 and how quiet it is. I've even started considering headphone app options or even a separate MP3 player!
I have Viper installed and it doesn't help enough...

I actually did not. Maybe set those values to 95 and give it a whirl. I'd try myself but I'm preoccupied at the moment.

Okay cool, I'll take a poke in a bit. Just researching a bit more as I'm not really interested in getting stuck in boot-loop. lol

I'm quite familiar with modding the mixer_paths.xml (did it on every rom on my LG G2), so I'd be happy to mod one for you. PM me if you need help.
VS986 LG G4
So, as an update... With a shotgun approach to changing values, we have a beautiful volume increase. It's stellar. Both @jesssiii are going to be digging into the file a bit more when we have time and will sort it out better.. It's a bit of trial and error, but with a good idea now.
It seems unlike the G2, jesssiii was able to use my mixer_paths.xml file without problem despite different variants. If anyone would like my terribly messy trial one to test or mess around with you can send me a PM and I'll explain what I've done a bit. Otherwise, as I said, once we have a better idea we'll share a cleaner solution!!
BTW: THIS IS ****ING AWESOME. The problems I have with this phone are slowly melting away with root.

I'm glad someone else found this to be of use other than me. I'll be watching to see what you come up with. Incall volume is the one I'm after.

You may need to poke around a bit then, I don't really speak on the phone often so I'm not testing anything lol.
This file is a lot more complicated than the G2 one. Judging from the other thread I'd start modifying the 'RX* Digital Volume' settings for things with the 'handset' header.
And for everyone else, so people can get a jump on, as who knows when I'm going to have time in next couple weeks...
Here you go!

This is a very scattershot approach, and it may have some unexpected results due to that, because we haven't quite refined it.
I went through and searched 'headphones' and changed many of the 'RX* Digital Volume' up to the number 94 (to make sure it was obvious which I changed). I also changed one 'SPK Amp Volume' from 5 to 8, under a 'speaker-and-headphones' heading. Also near the very top of the file I changed a whole list of 'RX* Digital Volume' values that were in a row.
What I didn't change was anything very clearly referring to something, such as TTY, USB, anything mentioning a KHz, VOIP, etc... But it is easy to find what I did.
The goal was to sit down when I have more time and figured out exactly which of the many are the ones that matter for this case of actually increasing headphones, as we had two more conservative attempts that did nothing at all.
I am using FX File Explorer (with root plugin), and it doesn't seem to have the problem of truncating files or modifying permissions, but it's good to always double check.
Good luck, and feel free to take a shot and share your results.
(I'm not responsible for any problems, don't forget to backup your file and check permissions!)

In-call volume path in the G2 was found here:
Code:
Dont set it too loud as echo will happen. Credit to dr87 for that info.
I haven't had time yet to look for this in my G4 as yet.
Also, I found the changed file linked by usreak above to give distortion at high volume. On the G2 it was said for headphones to only adjust:
Code:
<ctl name="HPHL Volume" value="32" />
<ctl name="HPHR Volume" value="32" />
And for speaker RX7 Digital.
Obviously this all needs more research/experimentation. Thanks @Usraek for your help and work!
