[SOLVED] Quite confused on rooting B380 - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I searched for a streamlined root process of the B380 and i'm quite confused since there is too many solutions and some of them leads to bootloops or something worse
So, i just bought a new Honor 7 (PLK-L01) and it is on B190 (PLK-L01C432B190) 5.0.2 - I already got bootloader unlocking code but didn't unlock it yet and all what i want is a stock B380 + TWRP + Root.
My question is :
Can i just flash twrp (after ota update to B380) using fastboot and flash SU from twrp right after?
I read on some forums (including xda) that some guys got bootloops after flashing SU but others got it working with SU 2.62.
Can someone help me explaining the process?
Thank you. :fingers-crossed:
EDIT : Solved with the help of @muradulislam and @gopinaidu77

Your questions are your answers
Update to B380, flash twrp, flash SuperSU 2.62 and update to latest from google play store.
Still, keep a TWRP backup for unknown reasons:silly:

Should I update?

Hi guys, first I want to apology if it has already been asked.
I'm running Android 6.0 (32.1.A.1.185) on my E5823. My phone is rooted and have Xposed installed (Hi Niantic)
I can't get rid of the notification for 32.2.A.0.224.
Should I update?
Will I loose root and Xposed? If so, how can I get rid of this annoying update notification?
Thanks a lot
You won't be able to update the official way without getting rid of the mods/root.
Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
Okay thanks. How am I supposed to update then?
Can I remove this annoying persistent notification?
the difference not that big, i would wait for 7.0 nougat if i were you
probably coming somewhere in 2017 Q1 - Q3
(i'm really waiting for last version b4 rooting my device, also i don't want void my warranty, and the reason rooting ruin ota update like *bushako* said
(i guess you have to use flashtool\adb to flash) i didnt use flash tool for a while (used on my previous sony)

Uninstall Xposed framework and then you'll need to flash stock kernel using fastboot which would also remove whatever custom recovery and root you have.

Thanks. I'll do it for 7.0 I think
Hey, I was asking myself: if I install systemless root (Magisk), will I be able to OTA? (if Magisk is compatible with my phone, which I'm not totally sure)
Thanks

I wouldn't recommend it. Even if you do succeed in updating you could end up with a bricked device or just mess up your firmware and would have to do redo everything. Best is to bring it back to complete stock and then do the update.

Okay, thanks for the reply
I don't really see the problem. Just flash the latest firmware using Flashtool and then root again by using the rootkernel mod in this forum. Xposed and such aren't a problem either.
Hi
Is it possible to use Flashtool with twrp/root/xposed? Btw I think my bootloader is still unlocked.
And what should I use to root? Something like this or this?

If your bootloader is unlocked you should be able to follow both tutorials just fine.
In short:
Flash new firmware using Flashtool
Patch kernel of new firmware and flash it
Flash SuperSU and Xposed using TWRP
Enjoy life
If you need step-for-step help, just send me a PM with your instant messasing contact details. I'll help where needed.
Hi, thanks for the reply, I'll do that when I'll have more free time.
Instead of SuperSU, can I flash Magisk?

You'll first need to downgrade to an older firmware in order to backup the TA partition. This thread describes everything very detailed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/how-to-backup-restore-ta-partition-root-t3479532

In my case MM 6.0.1 (.224 or .253) solved the battery drain issue during night/sleep, so i would highly recommend it. There is also a discussion regarding this.
as suggested by others, i would not directly OTA upgrade with modded kernel, Supersu and Xposed installed. I would do it with flashtool.
If you want to stick with the current version, simply disable/hide/remove the Software update app (or "hide all notifications from this app".)
I froze it a while ago with Rom Toolbox, but thanks

Hi, I'm still on 32.1.A.1.185
Flashtool (Emma) only allow me to install 32.0.A.6.200 (there is Customized MY and NOBA, don't know the difference) and 32.1.A.1.163 (only Customized_NOBA)
Why can't I update to a more recent firmware?
Thanks

I mean is there any possible way to root this device? I tried flashing SuperSU, didn't work. Then I tried flashing the systemmode SuperSU, got stuck in the bootloader warning text. I also tried some pre rooted Roms from the forum.. and they just won't boot. What am I missing here..??

Now I'll try rooting it once the nougat arrives.

Nougat could introduce more issues (e.g. Xposed doesn't work with Nougat as of today... Magisk & SuperSU... who knows?) but in theory steps should be the same...
More: this is unknown to most (and I don't have a clear explanation for it... only some hypothesis...) but even TWRP could have issues...
On another phone I've found (only one time to be honest... ) that an updated firmware required an updated TWRP to have it working (older one simply doesn't booted anymore even if reflashed...)

I don't like OTAs at all... I'll prefer going with flashing full images by fastboot (if stock images) or TWRP (if custom ROMs or zip flashable version of stock images...).
They are safer and cleaner than OTAs...

Are you able to restore all the changes you made to /system, to successfully install the next OTA-update?
Or you just reflash the whole stock image before the next ota?

Probably it could be possible to restore all as stock from my backups, but I will surely update (when I'll decide to...) using fastload or TWRP (depending of image formats...) as you said...

Huv u try out this fix? Does it solve ur problem? I'm not a dev or a modder but i suggest u to reset ur phone (from TWRP, tick all boxes in wipe section EXCEPT for internal storage and sd card as it will DELETE ALL UR PHONE DATA unless u know what u r doing ) and reroot your device if needed (ensure tht bootloader and twrp is working fine). Flash ur ROM n after tht, install SuperSu by downloading it from Google Play. It's easier btw (ensure ur ROM huv Gapps install or juz download from http://opengapps.org/)
For ur sim and sd card problem, try to scan and fix it using apps from Google Play like Phone Doctor Plus or etc. Consider also to ask the developer of ur ROM tht whether there are such issues(if it's a stock rom, make sure u download is the full update not OTA). If the problem persist, u maybe huv to spend a few bucks (if not under warranty) on ur hardware problem It may due to hardware issues.
I would like to warn u tht I ll not be responsible for any problems tht happen. So, u huv to take the risk of bricking ur phone by urself (hopefully no). If the methods above failed, try to post this matter into other threads, maybe a dev can solve this matter better 4 u Report here back to tell about the fix.
ps: anyone knows how to attach a pic without the website link? newbie here xox

I have the same model with build number G925FXXU5EQD6 for Android 7.0 and I downloaded cfautoroot zip and booted to Download mode and flashed the zip with Odin 3.12 by puttin it in AP and let it reboot and then just click the SuperSU icon in the app drawer and set it to Always allow root. Then install the update for SuperSU that Google Play asks you to do. Then update the su binary when prompted and say yes to disable KNOX and wait for it to say Succeeded. Now install Root Checker from Google Play and Open it and click to check if it tells you its rooted or not. You may be prompted to Allow the calling of su so just click Allow or Yes.
That's how I did anyhow.
After that, just install flashify from Google Play and flash the img for zerolte.

About 2 minutes with cf autoroot. Look at the post above mine thats the quickest way. But thats for 7.0. If you root y.0.1 its same but make sure you get the correct autoroot file

Tripping KNOX is just a way for Samsung technicians to see if you're phone has been tampered with.
A friend of mine has a law suit waiting for him from Samsung just because I somehow managed to burn the motherboard flashing the wrong zip file based on an older guide that seemed to be made to help people brick their phones.

TWRP is a custom recovery with various features that you don't get with the stock recovery.
One of these are have a Terminal to run commands in.
You can also theme the Recovery with other background pictures and what not....

You'll be prompted on the screen to update the su binary. Do that.
Other than that you don't need anything else besides TWRP.
I'm trying to finish the port of Lineage OS to this device and I have my own device tree on github, but it needs more developers.
I also have a defconfig to build the kernel, but I haven't found it easy to upload it to Lineage's gerrit yet.

Install flashify from playstore. Grant root permission in supersu app. From flashify you can install twrp from the app.

What i would do now is boot to twrp (recovery) and make a full nandroid backup. Basically it backs up absolutely everything so if anything should go wrong you can always restore. Deffinately boot to twrp and backup efs. This is your imei files. Save them externally to pc or something. If they ever corrupted its pretty impossible to repair.
As for battery optimisation ypu can try better battery stats (app) or Lspeed (app) to see whats eating your battery and you can tweak from there.
Or try a custom kernel, some are made to optimise battery and performance.
Also if you are in to your music and audio, look at viper4android. Best music fx you can get.

Not sure about kingroot, but su might works if you flash via twrp. So, give it a try.
