Different processor has the same rom? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

I want to know, i have a redmi note 4 mediatek. In india it'll be launched with quallcomm. If in the future there are custom roms for the quallcomm model, can i flash it on the mediatek model? Or will i need different roms? Cause if it ain't the same rom i'm going to sell mine. I'm sure the qualcomm model will have many custom roms.

If a Snapdragon version arrives, you wont be able to use any ROMs developed for it. It will be similar only in name and appearance but if the hardware is different any development will not be cross compatible.

Even if they're different ONLY in processor? Thank you for your reply.

Yes. Different processor requires different codes and files. These 'codes and files' differ SO MUCH because of the different processors.

Thank you, now i just have to buy another one ?

Will/Do Note 4 ROMs work on the Note 4X?

Title. I know they are VERY similar, only difference I could find on gsmarena was bluetooth 4.1 vs 4.2 which, in my mind, could be a firmware thing. If not, maybe we should have a subforum for each.

ROMs for Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon works with Redmi note 4X.
What about global variant vs Indian variant? Some have more LTE bands than others. Will I lose any bands if i flash a ROM?

IIRC Global variant is 4X na? If yeah Roms works fine.
Whatever the redmi-note-4 variants ships with 625 / codenamed Mido, are compatible.

Rom Intercompatibility with Prime 4?

Are the roms of the note 4 compatible with the prime 4? Even with minor changes is okay.

Oh then you can't.
What kind of changes would be needed for a port?

It could be possible, but the devices probably use different drivers so a lot of stuff will be broken. Why don't you try it out.
I don't personally have either of them, trying to decide. I greatly prefer smaller phones because of my hands.

I don't think that it would be possible. There will be hardware differences between the two(apart from chipsets) like camera sensors, fingerprint scanner manufacturers, display manufacturers and other stuff like that. So, I don't think these ROMs will even boot on Redmi 4 prime. I highly recommend you to stick with Redmi 4 prime ROMs.

A contribution to MDK Redmi Note 4

Is it possible to port snapdragon roms to mediatek devices.
I have seen a thread by ArjunrambZ where he describes how to port roms. As I have no experience with porting I am asking any group or person if it would be possible to do some porting as MTK devices havent got basically any roms at all, most of them are buggy and most of them have slight changes to the stock rom.
Please link of thread

Link is here. I don't know if it's true to use this but I know this much that the devices are and should be identical, the only difference is the MDK and Snapdragon part
I never think it'll ever possible to port any of SD ROMs to MTK.

For porting you need base rom right? Ok, which mtk rom are already stable enough? None? And have you wonder why? Because mediatek never release their sourcecode completely, its hard for any devs compiling roms without necessary blobs. Sorry if I wrong, I am not a devs, just had some reading knowledge.
The points is, the source code. Blame Mediatek.

It's possible to do anything.
But this is in the "so very improbable and difficult that it is practically impossible" pile.
It's difficult enough to port ROM's to different device based on same SoC; this is not only a different SoC but a completely different OEM.
What you're asking is like porting a Samsung ROM to a Sony device, or vice versa. Just not going to happen - the guts on the inside of these two devices are completely different.

Vince : snapdragon 626
Whyred: snapdragon 636
If on doubt check processor
Well its wired anyway, because the processor is 636 so as you say it has to be whyred, but after looking for twrp it say xaiomi redmi note 5 pro instead xiaomi redmi note 5 (missing pro). Is it the same device, dont want to brick the devices...
