Will the RN3 get support from devs for more custom roms? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

So...
I currently have a Nexus 5 and I am was very close to buying the RN3. Now see the Nexus 5 provides stable pure android which I love so I dont need to flash custom roms on it. However I recently did that just to be able to get Android N. I've enjoyed my experience with custom roms so far. I'm using CM14 and I do like it even though it does seem just a little unstable and having a few bugs here and there.
I decided to upgrade to the RN3 because of the pure battery life offered by the N5 these days. I had decided that I would flash CM on top of it as soon as possible because I hate anything other than vanilla android. Now however, CM is dead. I have already done my fair bit of research to know that they are moving to Lineage now. I also read that the popular phones won't really be affected. However the RN3 isn't very popular. At least that's the idea in my head.
The point of this post is Will the RN3 receive the support popular phones would? Will I be able to have the latest and greatest in Android?
That is the one question which will affect my decision on whether to go for it or not. I think I need to make a decision by late this week on this so yeah..
Can any devs say that they plan on working on the RN3?
Is the RN3 as popular as the N5 was for the sake of development and stuff?

I plan on supporting the RN3 once I purchase one. However, I don't think it'll receive the large array of ROMs Nexus 5 has, but I think it'll get plenty of ROMs all the same.

You see, there are now much more RN3 users around the world. So, no need of worring about development.

Could you tell me where you downloaded your rom from and also link any guides you used?
How stable is the rom you use?

I have unlocked bootloader officially, tried most of the N roms available. As they are not quite stable as of now, using Xiaomi EU rom. It is debloated version of Miui based on China dev rom with weekly updates. Very Stable

I m using Aokp from 10 days with various custom kernel. Stable and fast. Only bug is the instable camera (using google camera apk mitigate it).

RN3 has miui roms, cm based roms and good development. Definitely it will be worth purchasing. Android file host shows 3to4 roms for RN3 daily.

Need some other roms except CM based.
If any devs port Color OS, Cool Ui, EMUI Etc...
It will be great.

What are the most popular ROMs out there

Hi guys.
I am doing a little research for my company and I am trying to figure out what are the most popular Android ROMs out there at the moment.
I think the most known and wide spread ROM currently is the CyanogenMod with all it's versions for different handsets. I read that it's user base at the moment is nearing 1M users. There's also the MIUI ROM that was recently picked up by Meizu for commercial release, I don't know their numbers exactly but I guess as Meizu is wildly popular in China the user base should be well over 1 Millions at the moment.
But who's next after those two? Anybody has any idea?
Thanks in advance, Pavel!
I'd prefer cyanogen kang... custom made cyanogen is better than the stock cyanogen.

I think MIUI and CyanogenMod are by far the most popular and (or maybe because) they are available for a lot of phones, however, for specific phones there's other roms that are pretty popular. Look around in the forums dedicated to your phone and you'll find out

Will Moto E 2nd Gen Surnia and Otus see Android N 7.0??

Hi guys and gals, was just wondering if our beloved Moto E 2nd Gen Surnia and Otus will see Android N 7.0, feel free to leave your comments in this thread, sorry if this is the wrong section, tried to pick the most suitable one, mods feel free to move to the proper section and send me a message so I know where to find it, thanks
<<PimpMy5Ton>>
I know we won't see official Stock Android N 7.0 but I'm wondering about a custom rom hopefully
It's a very unlocked device (with the exception of ATT and VZW models) with a very good spec to Price ratio and an active and skilled dev community. I'd say the odds are good.

I would have to agree. Being a Moto G 2nd gen user myself, and an Ontario Can. resident, I was quite surprised to see an actual official update to 6.0.1 [Wind Mobile] commencing just a few days ago, see my thread. It went from 5.0.2 when released a yr ago, and then an entire year of uncertainty and disappointment with Motorola [see thread: Motorola's failure to meet promises/updates] Then, 2 days ago, @ 1pm --> 6.01.!! With respect to the devs and community in general, I am more than impressed! Considering the phone is less than a hundred bucks, no matter where you are in the world, the amount that has been done and can be done is quite impressive! Mad love and respect to the community!!!

Anyone know what I need to do next? I d/l'd it, but did not install yet.
.
Am surprised and pleased at the same time too see a discussion thread already on Android N for this device. Having just started using the stable Cyanogenmod release I would be glad to see N someday down the line on the device.
The device is still an extremely good buy for the budget users, especially in the emerging markets. I see myself using the device as my daily driver for a year and a half down the line. The new lease of life that M has given it, I don't see a reason to switch to another device at this particular point in time. Plus, phones of this particular dimension are slowly disappearing off the market, which is not the best of developments, so, since someone like me only uses the device for communication, browsing, light social media, some pictures. Considering how media consumption on phones never really made sense to me, bigger devices never have either.
Well, we'll have to wait for CyanogenMod 14.

Actually RR is based on cm,so I doubt if RR team will start working on N without a cm release for surnia and otus, cause they need that cm base anyway.

RR being based on CM makes no difference to me, it's better than CM itself, so when people tell me that BS that's what I tell them, to me CM itself is garbage

Lol don't matter if you think cm is garbage. You failing to realize is that cm makes RR, and the majority of ROMs relies on a fully working cm.....bugs on cm, those same bugs on RR....

What's the hurry with everyone getting impatient with wanting to know when CM14 will be releasted???
I'm lead to believe that we won't see any port of CM14 until N goes official, probably on September.
I can see a partial working port for surnia by end of the year.
I want to elaborate I'm no expert and i base my comments on what I've read here on XDA and other android sites.
Moto e second gen WILL NOT get an official port of N, full stop.
I'm hoping some of our esteemed developers may lend a word on their thoughts about this.
I started a thread asking this question as I couldn't find this one, and im glad I've found it and already we have a great discussion going.
As a side point, I still own and use a first gen moto e as my work phone, its running CM13 and people are also asking if that device will see CM14, nice to see the interest not waning!

Its not BS its a well known fact that RR is cyanogenmod based.
Your assumption that CM is garbage is based on you using a cyanogenmod ROM with some very good extras........
I think that's quite ironic and a little amusing!
While you are perfectly entitled to your opinion, and I respect your opinion, let me tell you that I'm a big RR fan and a current user, up until a few days ago.
Ive been using RR with no major issues right up until 5.7 came out.
I had major issues with the new release, and I'm not using it anymore because of a sudden and complete loss of my data, music, photos and contacts.
I now also have a corrupted and unusable SD card, my contacts have disappeared off Google, off the phone and my sim now doesn't even work, the contacts having disappeared off there too, its been a complete disaster [emoji27]
Read the RR for surnia thread and you will see I'm not the only person who's had this problem.
Something has gone majorally wrong with the update, and unfortunately I've now moved away from RR and back to CM13, and yes, it could have happened whilst using CM13 but it hasn't.
While I love RR nothing else just works like CM13, and I've never had a sudden loss of all my data or any major problems.
You can disagree and laugh at me, but to loose personal, important and special things in the blink of an eye and then take almost three days to get my surnia working again is putting me off re flashing RR.
I'm sorry if my rather passionate post was off topic, as you all can probably tell I'm annoyed and hacked off I've lost everything off my SD, and I did not have a back up because I had only had the SD card less than two weeks!

Any good roms for this device?

So I'm planning on buying the Redmi Note 3 with 3gb of ram and the snapdragon processor. My question is, is there any good roms for this device? I hace checked the threads here and most people seem to have quite many problems with the few roms that exists.

Flood Of Android 8 Based Roms

I'm just wondering if we are likely to see a flood of Oreo based roms as we did with Nougat, or are Devs moving to Mido? I ask because i see that development of Oreo roms aren't much compared to Mido.

MIUI Beta is shutting down

Directly from XDA
"As more Mi Phone models got introduced to the market, more users started using MIUI Beta through different channels," Xiaomi wrote in a post on the official Mi Community forum. "However, MIUI Beta is made for public testing and requires the user to have a very high tolerance for bugs and faults. [...] Our team of engineers has decided to stop releasing the global version of MIUI Beta for all devices starting July 1st, 2019."
https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-ending-miui-global-beta-all-smartphones-july/
Nope...you got it wrong... It's not shutting Down completely, they'll be shutting down the global release meaning it'll be closed beta from that time on !!! Only closed beta participants will be getting it!!!

So, what to replace the Global Beta with ?
I mean the beta has a good bug fix, regarding the icons in the status bar (won't disappear very quickly, replaced with the clock).
So, MIUI EU ? I wish to stay boobloader locked as much as possible.

I may be wrong, but MIUI customs are very close to stock, and the few AOSP are too young for now?

.eu roms are always based on beta so even if the global beta are off... Eu rom will be based on the closed beta rom...
Pixel experience is mature stable enough to use also and it has a better battery life than MIUI

It's sad that people don't understand what beta means I like MIUI it has potential and yes i liked weekly new features.
Fair enough, maintaining a lot of devices with a beta for every week for both China and Global roms costs lot of resources but with marginal improvements.
Keeps only the china Dev for testing new features and improves the Global stable to make it really stable (I usually find the global stable sometimes doesn't as stable as a global dev).
Anyway, EU rom (based on China Dev) is always better than global dev.

But Global beta is kinda useless. That's why I just use Chinese one. It works much better with Wechat and other useful Chinese apps
