How to Update from EMUI 2.0 to 4.0 with KII-L22 ? - Honor 5X Questions & Answers

Hi everyone, I went from CM 13 to stock by restoring from TWRP. everything worked flawlessly except that I remember that I'm running EMUI 3.1, the Ram displays 1gb and the internal display 4gb in the about phone (although it displays normal in the file manager and running apps)
I am now trying to update from EMUI 2.0 to 4.0, also I am running TWRP and would like to get back to recovery stock as well. Please tell me if I need to get back to recovery stock before updating or the update will remove it and replace it with stock for me.
Also, Problem is my model is KII-L22 and all i see is KIW-L22 here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/how-to/repository-honor-5x-file-depot-t3328288
will I not have any problems using those updates with my KII-L22?

Update:
After reading some guides, i decided to flash it via adb by extracting the update contents such as system img and boot img and flashing it manually via cmd. I am now running at emui 4.0 no problems encountered so far.
Question is did I not miss anything? My plan was to flash stock recovery and update the update zip.
Not quite sure if this method works

flashing TWRP 2.8.7.0 on android M

well i updated my nexus 9 through OTA update to android 6.0 couple days ago, then i had some battery issue.
So then i tried to flash cm12.1
what i did was, i unlock my device flash TWRP 2.8.7.0, then i got this corrupted message upon rebooting my device.
i did some research(i should've done it before doing anything:silly, it seems like it's something about the force encryption?
i tried almost every guide on xda here, flash de-crypted boot, flash stock recover, flash stock rom, adb sideload function is not working, nothing seems to work?
it seems like nothing can write onto my device as long as it's encrypted?
it works fine now, just wondering if there's a way i can properly de-crypt my device in this state and go back to 5.1.1 or CM12.1
Thanks
TWRP has just been update to 2871 and can now read encrypted partitions. Install this new TWRP.

Converting .zip package into .img files

Hi all
I'd like to convert an ota update package from .zip to boot/recovery/system images i googled it for sometime and cant seem to find any helpful info on how to do it.
First off im using GR5 KII-L21 and before i started this journey i was @ android 5.1.1 the updated manually -used this- to android 6.0.1 then flashed twrp onto my phone and then rooted it. while i was tweaking and modding i messed something up and as usual i didnt make a twrp backup before i started playing with my system. and twrp always fails to install the update package i used to get from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1 and im stuck
I got a twrp backup for the gr5 kii-l21 somewhere from here flashed it and im back to 5.0.1 now a new issue arises when i try to update via ota to 5.1.1 the update always fails with "software update failed" message and i cant find the local update option to use the 6.0.1 update. So i got myself one of them kiwi 6.0.1 update.app and extracted the boot/recovery/system images and flashed them via adb. Now im on 6.0.1 again but still cant see the local update option in the updater app. It works and everything but it feels wrong somehow. The updater app is trying to update the 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 even tho its on 6.0.1 now.
If its not possible to convert the .zip update to images .img I'd like to have the original 5.0.1 for the GR5 KII-L21 with boot and recovery images or as a twrp backup and i'll work my way from there, thanks.

Unable to update to Marshmallow

Hello everyone,
I rooted my OnePlus X using Kingroot. Now that the update for Marshmallow is available, I am willing to update my unit to the same. I had unrooted my device using the SuperSU app. After that, I unlocked my bootloader and tried to boot to TWRP and install OTA update, no success. I also tried installing the update via stock recovery but it shows installation failed.
Also tried resetting my device and then installing the update but no dice. Nor do I have the unrooted backup. Also, have changed the system font.
Tried searching the forums. Please tell me how can I update to the official Marshmallow latest build?
Device Information:
Oxygen OS version: 2.1.3-x
Bootloader State: Unlocked
Recovery: Stock
Thanks in advance!
You need this update file. Because rooted your opx!

Marshmellow oos 3.1.3 download link https://s3.amazonaws.com/oxygenos.o...OTA_018_all_201609291837_741146bcf28e4587.zip
Doubts? Feel free to ask
I suggest you go step by step, from 2.1.3 upgrade to 2.1.4, move to 2.2.2 then 2.2.3, finally the MM, It worked in my case, I was also on 2.1.3 and faced trouble.. Hope it helps you.
Infact, after upgrading to 2.2.2, the system should have been unrooted. Just flash stock Lollipop recovery and leave it. You should get the rest of the updates as OTA immediately.

Did you check that the OEM unlocking was enabled after you unlocked the bootloader? Maybe that can be a problem. And I guess flashing the OOS Marshmallow build is possible only with the stock recovery (if you do not want to delete some lines from the code). So I'd stick to stock recovery if I want to update the OOS.

I guess this is more logical to do right now. Maybe it's something in the system that can be overwritten after upgrading to OOS 2.2.2. Because when I flashed the beta testing ROM on my device when I had the OOS 2.2.2, it worked just fine. But I guess it won't work if you don't have an older version of OxygenOS because of the small tweaks

[Help] GR5 ( KII-L21 ) Egyptian phone - can't make OTA updates

Hello every one
I have GR5 (KII-L21 c185) Egyptian version
I flashed many roms and revert back to stock several times without any troubles but last time I flashed MM stock rom and tried to flash the last MM update (b321) via firmware finder app the wifi stopped working even after I do factory reset, I tried to flash stock recovery using vol+ , vol - and power buttons it failed
also tried to extract boot.img, recovery.img, system.img from update.app and also can't make OTA updates or even buttons one
now I need to get fully stock so I can update to latest MM (b321) officially, can any one help?
i had the same problem and couldn't roll back to lollipop or fix the current marshmallow
so i had to push lollipop system image through adb and then did the same with marshmallow system image
and now it is working fine but still can not update to b321

I installed lineage until I can solve it

Re-flashing OPX ROM via fastboot

Hi
First a little history...
I recently got an OPX with the intention of installing Sailfish OS on it. So first I need to get CM 12.1 installed. Following the instructions here I flashed TWRP using fastboot, but the version of TWRP provided at the link would not find any system partitions on my device and therefore could not be used to flash any images. Newer versions of TWRP would simply not load.
Eventually, using the stock OPX recovery, I managed to upgrade Oxygen OS to the latest version. I then flashed the latest version of TWRP (3.1.1-1) again and it worked! It found my devices partitions and I could flash ROMs with it. But, it wouldn't flash CM 12.1. Something about a trustzone incompatibility...
So I got the idea to try and downgrade Oxygen OS, which I did via TWRP. But then TWRP stopped working... and here is my problem.
I'm now stuck in a situation where:
- I can access fastboot
- The only versions of TWRP which work (e.g. 3.0.2-0) fail to find my system partitions, and therefore can't be used to flash ROMs
- The stock recovery also seems to fail to find the system partitions (clicking on "install locally" does nothing), so I can't use that to flash ROMs either
So I really need to get a working image on my phone somehow... but how?? Is it possible to do this via fastboot only?
Cheers!
Is your bootloader unlocked? TWRP cannot see system partitions if so.
I unlocked it originally... but since then I have installed a new ROM (Oxygen OS 2.x). Would this overwrite the bootloader? Do I need to unlock again? I think I must be using the old OOS bootloader now...
I think you can see if it's unlocked if you boot into bootloader, connect to pc and write on cmd "fastboot devices".
Whenever you switch between android 5.0 roms and 6.0 and further you have to first use the correct recovery from oneplus, only then you can flash the correct twrp and the adequate roms
My bootloader is unlocked. I cannot flash a new ROM via recovery, because none of the recovery images (stock, TWRP) can see my system partitions (I don't know why). At this stage I would just like to know if there is a way to flash a stock ROM/recovery/bootloader via some other method (fastboot, or a special tool), so I can restore my phone back to factory state. I don't care about losing data. Thanks.
EDIT: Just to clarify, I believe this is my current situation (please correct me if something doesn't make sense):
- OOS has two different bootloaders, 2.x and 3.x.
- The phone originally had OOS 2.x on it. None of the TWRP images I installed recognized my system partitions, so I couldn't flash with TWRP.
- After re-installing the stock recovery (which happened automatically when I booted to the stock ROM), I was able to upgrade to OOS 3.x via stock recovery. Now recent TWRP versions were working (I assume because upgrading to OOS 3.x updated the bootloader too), and were recognizing my system partitions.
- Using a new version of TWRP (3.1.1-1), I re-flashed an older version of OOS 2.x again. I think this was my mistake, because I think this downgraded the bootloader to 2.x again. Now none of the TWRP versions recognize my system partitions, so I cannot flash ROMs.
- I have re-flashed the stock recovery from the OnePlus website, but not even this allows me to flash ROMs. The symptoms look like in TWRP, i.e. that it fails to recognize my system partitions. So I am stuck with no way to flash ROMs, or upgrade the bootloader.
