Who's back? We're back.
CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub... and at CarbonROM Gerrit.
Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Website is having a surprise soon. The rom is pretty bare-bones AOSP right now with a few changes here and there. I would list, but I'm feeling lazy. The basic rundown is subs, double tap to sleep for some things, scrambled lockscreen, and some more stuff. Next week's build will have WAY more changes, including over 100+ art and bionic patches. Long live the moo

for me it keeps fc'ing even after the setup wizard. I tried clearing up Play Services data and cache. Tried another version of it but I get the error message every few seconds.

No, most aspects of the ROM will be kept close to AOSP.

This is weird, other testers and I have not experienced this issue. Try following the install steps in the OP with a different Gapps package (if you haven't already). If that doesn't work, a clean flash may solve it.

I always clean flash, even nightlies. For Carbon last night I also wiped the internal storage. Anyways, I would try it with opengapps nano or pico package. I'll let you know if it fixes the fc for me. Thanks

Anyone else flash this on Sprint? I couldn't get data to work and had to go back to Pure Nexus for now.

Remember this ROM on my galaxy nexus! Awesome to see this

Just installed latest build ( clean install) and found that WiFi isn't turning on. As soon as switch is pushed it turns off again. Is this a known issue and is there a way to fix it or will it happen in a later build?
oh god finally a rom without cm code inside, isn't it?
Hey mates! Which Gapps did you used? Open, Banks or Dynamic? Downloading atm, wanna try this treasure.

Hi,

after first reboot, i can't no more pull down the status bar. Anything i try to do, the bar seem locked.
any idea?
Awesome work. Like the ROM so far. Weekly updates are one reason sticking to this one is a must. Appreciate the time spent on this Oreo ROM.

You're not talking about during setup, right? Because that always looks status bar...
Major kudos on this ROM release btw! Bacon 4evah ?
Aside from the custom font probably missing some international characters, if I'm not mistaken, we can't control the hardware keys backlight (in my case, the backlight is disabled by default). Other than that it's definitely my daily driver
i didn't experience any freeze after implementing pattern screen unlock. but, that was because i left that for last, after installing all my apps and letting the rom settle down.
so oreo stable CUSTOM builds from legends have started to flow out for bacon now..
gr8 job @darjwx, thanks mate.
regards

4) Join our Discord server! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
We recommend MindTheGApps. OpenGApps should work, but please make sure you clearly mention the gapps you're using when reporting bugs.

rootless Substratum is fully supported. Flip the switch for third party theming in Carbon Fibers -> Privacy/Security and install Substratum from the Playstore.

Make sure the GApps you used include Trusted Face packages. MindTheGapps for example doesn't.

Thanks man:good: I tried it right after I posted and everything went perfect. I'm theming my life away with Substratum. Getting ready to install the latest update. I usually uninstall all overlays before I update system and then reinstall them after... Could be paranoid but it seems to work better that way.
Weirdness With Substratum
After applying themes with Substratum I noticed a new menu item called "Device theme", automagically appeared in Settings>Display>Advanced at the bottom right below "Tap to wake". Also Substratum had a major malfunction that the applied overlays didn't show up in Overlay Manager and could not be uninstalled unless I used the rescue zip in TWRP (apparently this is a known issue with Substratum 953). Running Substratum rooted seemed to help, also running Substratum 960 (not released yet). See screenshots for proof of weirdness.
PS This is not a complaint, just sharing experience & observation.

Battery live, there is nothing to worry about ...... you can see how many posts this thread got , happy people are quiet.
It seem like this Rom killed all the bugs I head from day one I bought the Nexus 6, that was in April 15.
Amazing. :good:
I keep on looking if I find anything wrong. ... so far nothing.
Probably a stupid question but... Is there a difference between CARBON-CR-6.1-NOCT-WEEKLY-shamu-20180411-1750.zip (on get.carbonrom.org) & CARBON-CR-6.1-NOCT-WEEKLY-shamu-20180410-0531.zip (this weeks OTA)???

In a recent update, google blocked using google dialer on unsupported devices. I'll fix it before the next weekly.
