Chromecast - Redmi Note 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else having trouble connecting this phone to Chromecast 2? I have no trouble connecting my Redmi 3 pro but my wife's RN2 just connects and the immediately disconnects.

Hi, i don't have problem to connect to chromecast. I use with Netflix, Plex, Youtube & Tunein Radio.

I also don't have any problems using chromecast (mainly youtube) with my redmi note 2 (prime edition). Maybe the problem is ROM related. Or you could try to clear cache/dalvik cache - maybe a little bit buggy

He means screen mirrorring problems, not app related casting, like youtube etc. Screen mirrorring is not working with chromecast 2 on latest stable roms, not even on the latest developer roms. Previous stable roms, there weren't any problems. I started a bug thread on the official miui forum. In xiaomi.eu they can confirm this bug as well, I have it too.

[Q] Any non-TP owners having trouble with Netflix (garbled video)

Hey all,
I wanted to see if a problem with Netflix is unique to the HP Touchpad running CM11 (4.4.4). The app works fine when browsing for titles, but as soon as I try and play anything, the video is garbled for 30-60 seconds (audio is fine) after which it magically works (although I think there might be audio/video sync issues at that point). Is anyone with a different device/ROM seeing this same problem? I haven't tried it yet but others are saying that going back to an older version of the Netflix app (pre the updated theme) makes everything work fine so it seems like it's the app, not the ROM/device.

Chromecast problems

Hello,
using my cyanogen 12.1 on HTC one m7 I experience lags and freezes during chromecast.
Since the problems are common to popcorntime and localcast app, and were not there using the stock ROM I wondered whether the culprit could be in cyanogen.
Note that the chromecast dongle downloaded a major upgrade recently that may have changed protocols.

Issues with Video playback apps

I am having issues with some video playback in various apps on new stock Redmi Note 2:
- BBC iPlayer - freezes after 5 seconds of playback
- "All 4" starts stuttering (as if its buffering) after 2 minutes of playback - no chance its internet related
- on the BBC News app, the live news feed loses sound after around 1 minute
Any of that sound familiar? Any advice? Would a custom ROM potentially sort it, or might it be hardware?
On MI forums was reported on MI v4, we're at v7 - issue still being shipped with new devices. Mightily pissed off!

Had all the same issues on sMIUI, changed to @lokjianming's CM12.1 build and happy days...
Indeed this is what I tried (after trying MI's latest developer ROM which also had the bugs)
CM is far better UEX than MIUI anyway. Happy days fo-sho.
Thanks @lokjianming's!

forced to reboot Nexus 9 after using Netflix

Hi, I've run into this same weird bug on two Nexus 9s that I've used, one on (stock) Android 6.0.1 and the other on the N Preview: when I switch to another app after playing a Netflix video, the display suddenly gets incredibly glitchy and the device becomes unusably unresponsive. The only fix is to hold down the power button until the tablet reboots. This doesn't happen every time I use Netflix, but frequently.
Having seen this on two Nexus 9s (neither is rooted) running two different (stock) Android versions -- and having never encountered this before on any other device -- I was sure I'd find lots of talk about the bug online. Weirdly, I don't see any. Is anyone else seeing this? If it's just me, I imagine the bug must have to to with a nasty interaction between Netflix and some other app I'm running? (GMD? Pie Control? Glovebox?)
Thanks for any help!

Widevine xiaomi.eu ROM update causing other video playback issues

I was running the Poco F1 MIUI 10.3 by xiaomi.eu 9.1.24 ROM. All my video streaming apps (Amazon Prime, Netflix, Stan) and sport subscription apps (Optus Sport, Foxtel) worked perfectly. Since updating to the Widevine updated ROM (in late February), my sport subscription apps don't work. I either get no picture, or playback error messages. The video streaming apps continue to work fine. I have tried 4 different Widevine updated xiaomi.eu ROMS, including the latest release MIUI 10.4 by xiaomi.eu 9.4.18 ROM & none work with my sport subscription apps. I have now reverted back to the xiaomi.eu 9.1.24 ROM and all my video apps (Amazon Prime, Netflix, Stan, Optus Sport, Foxtel) work well. The problem with that is that I am stuck on a 3 month old ROM and cannot update.
It may be difficult to replicate this issue for most of you (as Optus Sport & Foxtel apps are Australian) but does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?
If you have rooted the phone, try flashing the liboemcrypto disabler module from.magisk on lastest eu rom
No root on the device. Both EU miui roms, just the widevine enabled ones don't work on those apps. May need to consider RR.
