Where can I find XA Ultra AOSP binaries ? - Sony Xperia XA Ultra Questions & Answers

Hi there, I would like to build an AOSP Android 7.0 ROM for my XA Ultra from Sony's tutorial but I can't find my device in open devices to download the 'binaries'. Does anyone have an idea where could I find them, or if I can use binaries from another device ?

Edit: I am using the dual sim model (F3212)

Lol that's the big pain, Sony don't provide them because XA and Ultra are not open devices. You can use binaries from other MTK devices to try to build a working rom, you can sync my github it will probably help you too.

I heard that aosp roms dont provide noise reducing and other features since they are not Sony's, is it worth ? Do you run AOSP on your XA ?

You lose all extra features if you use different rom than stock. Third party camera apps gets good results, CM13 stock app too. For now there is no stable rom for XA and Ultra, I'm working on it but with very few motivation.
We can speak hours about changing rom or not, what we lose or what we gain but I think it depends of the usage of your device.

To be honest I care a lot about the camera haha. I'm interested in a ROM dev for my xa ultra but to be honest I've never dealt with building roms and stuff :/

I hope cm comes to this device I see ATM there's not a lot happening in the way of custom ROMs suppose its early days [emoji3]
Yeah, although CM would be good at some point in the future, I don't know how useful it is at the moment since the phone is running pretty much stock android anyway with just minimal Sony skinning on top however it'd still be nice to see it as an option

(As soon as I will be able to buy it this week. )

cant wait for a better rom for M4!

Cyanogen would be nice . .
Cyanogenmod would be soooo nice to see on our phones! HW is great, but sony's software is crippling it...

Can't wait for CM. There is so much bloat in this phone

Newbie in AOSP builds

Hi guys. I actually never faced building my own AOSP build for any device. I wanted to start, or just try (Holidays incomming, too much free time). I know sony placed a tutorial (here supposed to be url link, but i cannot paste it here, anyway, its in sony developer section) but i wanted to ask you, what should i know (expect this tutorial obviously) to start making my first AOSP build. I got tired to use stock rom, so i decided to make something for m4 aqua. This is my phone that i usually use. Should i start with my old phone (xperia SP) to understand this enviroment, or make something for m4 aqua? Feel free to write something obviously, cause i might dont know it.
My english might not be perfect, sorry
Sony has not yet released Marshmallow source of this fone yet. So yes start with other fone, then when they release, do this one.

Xperia M5 got 6.0!

Sadly Xperia m5 got marshmallow and we didn't!
Is there any way to use that to build a rom for redmi note 2?
Useless for us.
Only the soc is same
Other chipset like wifi/bt and modem/rf is different
The camera and other sensors is also different
I extract the config from stock kernel then compile the kernel with hermes config and xperia m5 kernel source on xperia dev
The kernel can boot on miui and cm12.1 but wifi/bt , radio and a lot of sensors is not working because of different chipset i think
Sorry for my bad english
I wish at least someone tries to port Xperia m5 5.0 or 5.1 rom!
Idk why no one tries

We don't have drivers sources. What if someone will port that rom? Everything will not work for example bluetooth, Wi-Fi, camera and much more. Developers hasn't any reason for do that.
Kernels must be decompiled -they are not compressed archives that can be unpacked. If there is no source code, kiss the idea goodbye.
There are too many hardware differences in the M5 to be even remotely useful. There is a LeTV phone that is far closer to ours (if not almost identical) and maybe one of the HTC models with 6795 SoC such as X9?
As pointed out by @bjsiu0617 It is the LCD screen and other add-on hardware that cause the problem - having the same SoC helps with most of the wifi, BT, modem etc. that is all part of the System on Chip.
Maybe a decent technical thread could be started to identify potential donor phones? It would have to break down each candidate into its component parts i.e. what model LCD, mag sensor, light sensor, cameras etc.
The sad part is that most of the candidates do not have Marshmallow and also have bastardized version of Android like MIUI and eMIUI etc.

I didn't mean marshmallow. I saw in a tutorial that mediatek devices with same soc can port roms (same android version). And we have working 5.0 and 5.1 kernels.
This is it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/k3-note/development/guide-porting-64bit-mtk-roms-cross-t3310605
I think in this way we use xiaomi drivers. I said that because Xperia rom looks better than cm12.1 or aosp. And I thought it would be nice to have a 5.0 or 5.1 Xperia rom.
I'm confused. You created thread about Marshmallow for xperia m5 and now you only want Lollipop rom for our device because this port would look better.
Yes at first it was about marshmallow but I said no one even tried to port the 5.0 rom. I tried but couldn't unpack the kernel as it was in that tutorial.

[F3112/F3116][ROM][UNOFFICIAL][6.0.1] Cyanogemod 13 project for Xperia XA Dual Sim

CyanogenMod 13 for the Sony Xperia XA Dual Sim
CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), which is designed to increase
performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be
used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps).
CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Before you start
This ROM is only for the F3112 and the F3116
Code:

-"More... " settings not working
-NFC not working
-GPS (not tested)
-Full brightness
-And probably more...
Guides/Instructions
For now I will not explain how to flash because my Rom is in very beta stage and I need help for debugging,
it mean it's not user friendly and only skilled users will know how to flash it,
As soon as the rom will be stable I will update this part of the guide.
I will just say it's like any other CM Rom flashing.

You know porting roms have nothing to make with pure developpment. More with analyse of codes and importations of libraries, etc... You won't really code a whole page

It's on the good way, I'm waiting for my new computer to continue, my actual take 11 hours to build :silly: As soon as the "ril" (telephony features) will work I will release an update, for now I can enter pin code but sim stay locked
All other features are working or unstable, only NFC is not working. For XA single sim you will have to wait a little more.

Well: aptX means licence fees. Does Cyanogen pay them?
I need facts, no beliefs. Cyanogen is not known for aptX support.
Or is there a file like "libbt-aptX-ARM-x.x.x.so" in the /system/lib/ folder? If not, your belief is unsubstantiated.
Can we expect CM 14 ? instead?

Probably no, I don't have an unlocked Ultra to work on it. As long as we don't know why Ultra devices can brick when flashing with Flashtool it will stay with locked bootloader.

Thank you for your help but I need the device in my hands for many reasons (dump, debugging, reverse engineering, ...).
As you know XA and Ultra are not intended to have custom roms and I have to make my own sources, it mean a lot of work. Ultra is not a simple copy/paste of the XA system

Apt-x is a feature supported in vanilla android already.
Then it's true you should have the loading library (which isn't all that secret btw) but for some reason, it's reported to work nevertheless on Xperia S.
Regardless, I don't see why you couldn't just include stock libbt-aptX-ARM-4.2.2.so in android_vendor/proprietary (or android_device/prebuilt, Idk)

Le Pro 3 Elite (X722) Lineage OS

Hi All!
Is there a way to get lineage 14.x on le pro 3 Elite (X722)? I've been searching online, but all information seems to be related to X720 model, and there is basically nothing (or very little) regarding the X722... I was hoping to be able to root my device, Install lineage OS, and then un-root (due to using some corporate apps which don't allow devices to be rooted).
Please let me know in case you have some info. I will greatly appreciate your help!
Thanks!
Mick
Hey
As far as i know Leeco didn't released their open source code for x722 and that's why there is no custom roms. I'm a little bit confused because they shared their open source code for many models and i don't know why they didn't do that for x722 :C

I didn't tried any rom and at the moment i don't have this phone. I think different processor than in leeco x720/x727 make it useless to use the 720/727 rom for this device and can only lead to brick phone.
So why does TWRP for x720/x727 work flawlessly on x722?
Also lineage OS developer for lepro3 asked if anyone can give him log files from lineage boot on x722 then he can probably make it work. It seems the issue is not CPU (i guess it is same linux kernel and drivers anyway), but somehow changed boot sequence of the x722 then x720/x727, but i don't really understand this stuff.

thats why I dislike this company. They have placed very small batteries in their phones and removed headphone jacks and no sdcard slot. Plus they are not releasing sources of these China specific models.

I don't agree regarding the battery, but an sd slot I definitely miss... the phone itself is good, but it really sucks that we can't put lineage on it. I wish I did proper research before buying it, as I would probably go for a different one.

yea you are right . I saw x626 with 4/64gb on gearbeast for less than 140. But I cancelled the order because there is no ROM support. This model was not released outside of China so it has no google play store originally and no MTK model was made for market outside CN like the 1s thus flashing Indian/Russian or other international ROM is not a possibility.

The problem is that the bootloader is locked and there is currently no root for the device... and as it seems like there will never be. one...
It would make this phone so much better if we had the chance to put lineage on it, as LeEco is going under (if not already), and there will be no future updates to the software, even though there are so many bugs... such as you can't change default browser, expand notifications, and so on....

yes, and the camera not auto-focusing when changing from a far to a closer focus or the contrary and you have to be tapping on the screen every time
so in the end maybe the lineage 14 for the x720 and x727 might work fine but the point is that the x722 has a locked door about bootloader and can't open and enter to work on it?

I will also be able to help once my phone arrives. Wondering what firmware i'll get it with (from BangGood).
When I scanned xda I saw official lineage for x72x so i assumed it was supported - the title is a bit misleading. Probably wouldn't have ordered it if I read the whole thread.
That said, I'm in it for the long haul now, and might actually be a good opportunity for me to actually give something back to the xda community (besides $).
Too many wrong infos in this topic.
- Bootloader is locked ONLY in 026s stock rom and it CAN be unlocked by flashing 001d dev release.
- You DON'T flash x720 roms to x722 since you will easily get a nice brick.
- You DON'T flash stock 026s through TWRP (especially from geekbuying vendor 020s rom with twrp)
- x722 has root in tora33 custom rom - this is a fresh stuff so check that thoroughly
