Viper4android (V4A) for Mi 3 Nougat ROMs. - Mi 3 Themes and Apps

All credit goes to XDA member guitardedhero. I've had a lot of problems installing V4A in the past, but I've been able to use it and it enhances your sound by a fair margin, if of course, you know how to use it. This method only works for Nougat ROMs like ResurrectionRemix, CM14, etc.
Getting to it, you need :
- Root
- A custom recovery, twrp or cwm
- How to use custom recoveries
- Viper4android zip file.
- ES file explorer or Root explorer (Basically any file explorer with root exploring capabilities)
- Patience.
I am in no way responsible for any damage to your device and I will not be held responsible for the thermonuclear war that may or may not be caused.
I've tested the given procedure on CM14 and ResurrectionRemix and BeanStalk myself.
Instructions :
- Download the "Viper4Android_2.5.0.5_ guitardedhero.zip" from the link below.
- Place it in an accessible location on your phone.
- Reboot to recovery.
- Flash the zip file.
- Turn your phone back on.
- Go to /vendor/etc through ES File Explorer.
- Rename the file "audio_effects.conf" to "audio_effects.conf.bak".
- Open V4A.
- Select to install drivers now.
- Accept prompt for root permissions.
- Insert that patience you collected earlier.
- It'll ask to reboot when it's done. Reboot the device.
- Congratulations. You have successfully installed V4A on your Nougat device.
I am not claiming anything, but the above method worked on 2 of my Motorola Devices running CM14 as well.
Download Link available in the comment.
Thank you.

I'm sorry I don't follow.

Does it work with any irs file?
I used ARISE for my lineageos and it works pretty well except the convolver part, sometimes it doesn't made any different at all even tho I changed the irs. Is this work with any .irs file?

Well, that depends on the .irs file. Some of them work, and some of them don't. Some .irs files even make the V4A app crash. That's the main reason why I haven't included any links for .irs files. It is basically a hit and trial process. I found this link in the miui forums, with 300 or so .irs files, and I checked each one of them, and a lot of them made the app crash. So, keep trying until you hit the right sound.

[In-Call Volume] **FIX** (Finally)

So after using the Samsung Galaxy S II for over a month now I've had one complaint. In-Call Volume using the handset ear piece. It was "OK" in quiet places but anywhere else...way below par.
So, after looking around for several weeks trying to find a fix I finally got help from a well know dev (Entropy512) as well as using system/lib audio files from Designgears ROM 'Perception'.
So...how do you finally get your in-call volume increased?
First and foremost...Always backup whatever you're changing. Better safe than sorry. Just make a copy of your current system/lib folder, rename it something like 'backup_lib' and place on your sd card somewhere.
Option 1
Download this flashable zip, flash it in CWM, Reboot, Enjoy. (This zip includes some audio files from the Perception ROM, if for any reason DesignGears has an issue with this PM me and I will remove the zip. I'm only using the files to help others solve their in-call volume issue)
MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE FLASHING
Download the Flashable Update Here
I have tested this on three different SGSII's and all seems well! This is a NO WIPE flash, I do reccomend clearing your Dalvik Cache and Cache Partition though.
-Reboot into Recovery
-Scroll down to 'Advanced' and select
-Select "clear Dalvik Cache"
-Flash this update
-Reboot your phone and enjoy!
Option 2 (Incase the flash doesn't work or I am asked to remove the the zip file)
1) Download Designgears ROM 'Perception' Found Here
2) Open the zip file of your current ROM (doesn't matter what ROM)
3) Open the system folder and then open the system/lib folder (of your current ROM)
4) Next, Open the same folder in the Perception ROM
5) Copy the files listed below from the Perception ROM and paste them over the files in your ROM:
- lib_Samsung_Acoustic_Module_Llite.so
- lib_Samsung_Resampler.so
- lib_Samsung_Sound_Booster.so
- libaudio.so
- libaudioeffect_jni.so
- libaudioflinger.so
- libaudiohw_op.so
- libaudiohw_sf.so
- libaudiopolicy.so
- liblvvefs.so
- libmediayamaha.so
- libmediayamaha_jni.so
- libmediayamaha_tuning_jni.so
- libmediayamahaservice.so
- libsamsungAcousticeq.so
- libsamsungSoundbooster.so
- libsoundalive.so
- libsoundpool.so
- libSR_AudioIn.so
- libyamahasrc.so
*Only copy/replace the files listed above as they are only audio files. DO NOT COPY/REPLACE all system/lib files... You'll have unwanted consequences and you'll probably kill a puppy.
6) Now go to the Perception ROM and open system\app and find phone.apk. (Save a copy of your current phone.apk...Just in case)
-Copy (Perception's) phone.apk and replace the phone.apk on your current ROM.
7) After you replace the files listed above on your ROM, reflash your ROM and enjoy your increased call volume.
Note: If you don't want to reflash your ROM and risk losing any settings, you should be able to copy the files and replace them with Root Access and a file explorer, then Reboot your device immediately after. I haven't tried this yet so if someone wants to try and leave feedback, please feel free.
EDIT: Copying the files using a root explorer does work but may cause your phone to crash/reboot afterwards. I'd still recommend just re-flashing the ROM to avoid potential issues. Once again, make sure and make a back up so you can revert any changes if something doen't work properly.
I will try uploading a zip file with appropriate files so you can download but currently I do not have Designgears permission. This is their code and I don't want to step on any toes.
EDIT: I have tried reaching out to DG for permission but had no luck, if he asks that I remove the zip file, I will do so.
Known Potential Issues:
- When flashing over a stock/rooted ROM this update may cause the phone application to crash/force close. I have tried this update personally on every ROM I could flash and haven't had any issues. However, I have not tried it on the stock ROM. If you're on stock/rooted, please make a backup so if it does cause issues you can simply revert the changes.
Much thanks goes to Entropy512 for the help with solving this issue and Designgears ROM 'Perception'. Using Perception showed me that increasing the in-call volume was possible! (it's a very stable and awesome ROM as well )
***UPDATE***
Due to some people being a worried about flashing the update I have taken the liberty of making the backup files for you and making them flashable!
- I have made revert files for all of the major ROM's we currently have for our device. I did not include Perception because that ROM is where the audio files originated from. Below is the download links for the backups.
IF my volume fix does NOT work, simply download the backup for your ROM and flash it. It will revert all the changes my fix made.
- Revert_CM7.1_Stable
- Revert_H8s2_1.2.2
- Revert_Serendipity_8.2
- Revert_Stock_UCKH7
- Revert_UnNamed_1.2
- Revert_MIUI 1.11.4 v1
- If you are using Perception ROM you do NOT need the volume fix as this ROM has the files built in
As a side note, I have tried this on several I9100 ROM's as well and had luck with them all.
If this thread helps, please click the thanks button for me, I'm new to the XDA community.
Any I9100 ROM should work here for the libs - however:
Your mic will be screwed up for outgoing audio unless you change the Samsung Noise Reduction settings. (DG forced this in Perception, I believe he did it in an APK somewhere and not in the libs.)

I just tried a call and you're correct, the mic isn't working properly. Do I need to find the APK or do you know what changes I need to make? This is a popular issue and I'm hoping this thread can help.
Edit: I found some APK's....any idea which one would deal with the mic?
-CallSetting.apk
-Phone_Util.apk
-Phone.apk
-Settings.apk
Ahahaha, good thing I made a backup before pasting, but pasting the files in root explorer does work, however your phone will crash and reboot, but it is louder.
Doesn't work on the apk :v

Try copying the CallSetting.apk as well (use both). If you still don't have any luck with fixing the mic issue and you're using a file manager to make the switch, try re-flashing your ROM with the apk changes instead.
Make a backup before doing it so you can restore all your settings if it doesn't work for some reason.
It works after I replaced it in my ROM zip

Did you have to re-flash? Just trying to make sure my instructions are correct.
Did you need to add both apk's as well?
No, I just added replaced the files in the Unnamed 1.1.0 full update zip, ran an update via CWM, with only the phone.apk and microphone works.

Thats awesome news. Low mic has always been an issue for me. Just wondering if someone can create a flash able zip that automates everything, if possible.
Great work guys.

IF I can get approval from Designgears to use some sources from his ROM I shouldn't have any issues putting this into a zip file for everyone. I've reached out to DG, just awaiting a response

[Guide] How to get Viper4Android working on 4.3.1+ Roms

So I know many of you enjoyed using this amazing mod in the past and something in our builds caused it to break after 4.3.1 roms started rolling out. Look no further as i have a fix for you that is guaranteed to work again.
Step 1.) For the first step you will need to edit your build.prop file found in /system folder. Personally i use Rom Toolbox lite (found here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox&hl=en) as it comes with a built in build.prop editor and root browser and it is free. Some of these edits may already be in your build.prop so check the edits posted below to see if they are already there or just need a slight change before just adding it as having 2 of the same edits with a different value may conflict with eachother
the edits are:
lpa.decode=false
tunnel.decode=false
tunnel.audiovideo.decode=false
it may ask to reboot on some or just one of these but we can skip rebooting for now. once set we can now move forward.
Before starting the next step MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE AND UNINSTALL DSP MANAGER. you can do so via app manager in ROM Toolbox Lite.
Step 2.) Now we download viper4android according to your rom version. For 4.3.1 roms get this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vipercn.viper4android4x&hl=en
Once downloaded and installed you will now have to copy and paste it from /data/app to system/app. When it finishes copying over delete the app from /data/app as it will not work otherwise. Make sure permissions are properly set to rw-r--r-- or 0644 in numerical terms. Rom Toolbox will make this whole process easier and faster.
At this point you will now reboot your device for the next step
Step 3.) Once rebooted open the app and it will have you install its driver Select cortex A8 option (3rd one down). It will ask to reboot but dont do it yet. Last thing to do is while in viper4android app hit the sttings button and you will see a long list of things. Select FX Compatible Mode and switch from Normal to Compatible mode and now you reboot for it to take effect and work.
After this you are all set to start setting your sound otions in viper4android and enjoy
I Give great Thanks to:
@zhuhang for making this great app/mod
@jrummy for creating rom toolbox (another amazing app)
 @Bradl79 for the build.prop idea
 @bbgreen for confirming this works
And Anyone else i may have missed
If i have PM me and ill gladly add them in
So far for the headset option i have the following enabled and set
Under MASTER POWER:
Enable V4A-FX is checked and powered on
Under FIREQUALIZER:
Enabled is checked and powered on
Select Preset is set to Rock
Under DYNAMIC SYSTEM:
Enable is checked
Select Listening Device is set to Common Earphone (v2)
Select Dynamic Bass is set to 2 percent
Under FIDELITY CONTROL:
Enable ViPER Bass is checked
Select Bass Mode is set to Natural Bass
Select Bass Frequency is set to 100Hz
Enable ViPER Clarity is checked
Select Clarity Mode is set to XHiFi
Select Clarity is set to 3.5 db
thats all i have set for now but i'm using skullkandy heaphones with this setup will vary for other headphone brands and models. with this setup it gets very loud and clear as well as amazing bass so dont damage your eardrums lol

Been trying to get this to work for a while as well as you may recall from past comments. Sure this guide will produce a desired "universal" sound effect as before? I had no luck with SoundCloud getting processed by V4A after this. However, I may needed to retry steps verbatim on a fresh ROM install too as I had some other conflicting things to clean up along the way.
Idk about soundcloud...I does work like it did before in Apollo...my guess is that its directing to basic sound while using other apps or stuff like soundcloud

Nice find Rev! Works great.
Thanks for the write up I just tried it. Unfortunately it only seems to work with Apollo. When I try it with Power Amp or Pandora it no longer works. On my old sense 4.0 ROM viper4android would modify those programs as well Ive tried the current version and the version off the play store with the same results. Thanks for the write up though very easy to follow.
Please post any questions about Viper4Android here not just 4.3 ROMs.

How To Bake Viper4Android into a ROM zip (BASED OFF OFF v.2322)
@REV3NT3CH Consider adding this to the thread (Not trying to hijack the thread) this may be super long
@PTuT @Chucktr you asked for a pm of how to bake v4a into a rom, i decided to post it here for everyone
If you dont want to download the apk and install the apk/drivers you can merge the drivers and app from your pc.
ill probably end up making a script for this but right now i don't mind copying it into new builds for now
Latest apk - http://www.mediafire.com/download/z1mqg58hz1sfais/ViPER4Android_FX_v2322.zip
driver - http://d-h.st/xHh
driver config - http://d-h.st/axM
i usually use 7zip for archive viewer ect..
1. Open the rom zip in 7zip or whatever you choose to use
2. In 7zip navigate to "system/priv-app/" and drag/drop the apk you downloaded into the 7zip window.
3. In 7zip back out of the "prive-app" folder and navigate to "system/lib/soundfx/" and drag/drop libv4a_fx_ics.so you downloaded into the 7zip window
4. in 7zip back out of "soundfx" & "lib" and navigate to "system/ect/" and drag/drop audio_effects.conf you downloaded into the 7zip window
Exit 7zip, Now you have the app and driver baked in the rom :good:
Now what happens when any of this stuff gets update?.... well
Drag/drop the latest apk to priv-app (obviously lol)
The Driver can be pulled from the inside the apk in the assets folder using 7zip. Use any of the drivers containing "libv4a_fx_ics_NEON" based on the quality of the driver they are named different but i use libv4a_fx_ics_NEON_HQ, rename it to libv4a_fx_ics.so and copy it to the rom zip
We cant use the JB drivers on jb or kk, only ics
i dont know how often audio_effects.conf gets updated but just add the fallowing to the audio_effects.conf in the rom zip (ONLY IF NEEDED) the download link above should be good fine good for a while:
Line 9 to 11 :
v4a_fx {
path /system/lib/soundfx/libv4a_fx_ics.so
}
Line 69 to 72:
v4a_standard_fx {
library v4a_fx
uuid 41d3c987-e6cf-11e3-a88a-11aba5d5c51b
}
all of this is based off of v.2322 so i cannot guarantee this to work within the next year or so ect... if someone updated something

Viper working on rooted LP

This took me some hours this evening and a lot of trial and error but I was able to get it working. Note: if you are novice at playing with system files, don't bother to try this. It's not for the faint at heart. I can't provide support. You will also need Script Manger so you can fix permissions after placing the files. You must manually do all of this since we can't flash the zips! Make sure to Freeze the Sound Alive apk with TB also so there are no other music effects apps. Here's what I had to do:
1. Follow the instructions at this post first, extracting and placing files. Just don't reboot yet (thanks @TiTiB): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62365948&postcount=37
2. Download the two files mentioned here in this thread. You only need the audio policy script from the Lolliviper zip file to place in the system folder. Place the others from the ViPER4Android-supolicy.zip where needed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/how-to-installing-viper4android-v4a-t3136025
3. Take the latest Viper apk and place it in the system/priv-app folder.
4. Remember, make sure set all the needed permissions as you go along for ALL files above or none of this will work!
5. Reboot.
6. Open the Viper app, select the driver you want. Reboot.
7. If using Poweramp, you may or may not see the MusicFX control button whether you have it selected in advanced settings or not. I did not see it but it made no difference. Open the Viper app, turn on the settings and start playing music. Voila, it works! Works on my speaker too. Apparently permissive kernel isn't essential to make this work and that is the beauty of all this., because you can not use SElinux mode app on this kernel as some of you may know.
Have fun and good luck, at least you might be able to do this in much shorter time than I did.
One other thing I have found. You must set the scripts in system/su.d to run on boot with script manager so Viper will run after each reboot.
You can also get it to work by the following.
Install xposed
Install Wanam exposed module
In Wanam, under Security hacks
Disable Knox notification (I manually remove Knox)
Disable SEAndroid (changes to passive)
Install Viper4Android and update the driver

I could not get Xposed installed after rooting, tried the latest apk, etc. I read on that thread Xposed has issues with stock LP Samsung ROMs so I just forgot about it. I could have tried placing the files in the flashable zip manually but it didn't seem worth the risk. I'm glad you got it going because that way sounds faster.

[TUTORIAL] How to install Viper4Android on J5

Hi Guys this is a tutorial on how to install Viper4Android on J5 and set it up for 100% working. Follow the instruction and you will be able to install Viper4Android on your J5.
After trying unsuccessfully for many times I finally had working V4A. Many of you may be facing the same situation, so just want to help those people.
INTRODUCTION:
What is Viper4Android?
Viper4Android is audio mod which can be installed on rooted Android devices to enhance the audio quality of the device. This beautiful mod delivers a great audio output with the default settings but you can fine tune it further to optimize the audio output to your liking.
ViPER’s Audio is founded by Euphy Wong (known as ViPER520). ViPER’s Audio has been a popular audio mod in China. Co-founder Jasper Loo (known as zhuhang) extended its popularity globally through xda-developers forum. It has now gained fame and stand its ground in the audio mod field. Now it runs on two platforms one is Android and second is windows and it is one of the most popular sound mod among audiophiles.
ViPER’s Audio is an audio enhancing software to provide everyone with better audio experiences in various platforms such as smartphones and PCs. It is the first ever mod which has implemented convolver.
The main feature of V4A is convolver.
So what is Convolver?
When an IRS is loaded, via convolver V4A will process the sound to show the same exact characteristics as the loaded sample. Through Convolution, samples with effects such as equalizer, surround, reverberation, tube etc can be simulated.
Installing V4A
Requirements:
1) Rooted android phone (In our case J5)
2) Busybox installed
3) File Explorer (Root Explorer)
Procedure:
1) Download the files from the link given below. ( I have provided all the necessary files on a zip file)
2) Extract the zip file. You will get some apk files and audio_effects.conf file.
3) Now install Root explorer and Selinux mode changer apk file as normal installation.
4) Now open root explorer and navigate to system/priv-app and copy paste Viper4Android apk there.
5) Now again navigate to system/etc. There you will find audio_effects.conf file. Rename it to audio_effects.conf.bak Now copy paste audio_effects.conf file that you downloaded to system/etc.
6) Now you need to set permission for both Viper4android apk which is at system/priv-app and audio_effects.conf file which is at system/etc to rw-r--r--. This is very important. Search in google if you don’t know to set permission. Than reboot your device.
7) After your device reboots you will see V4A installed. Open it and it will ask you to install driver. Give permission to install driver as well as root access.
After the driver is installed it will ask you to reboot the device. Close V4A and open Selinux mode changer app and change the mode to permissive. Reboot your device.
8) Once your device is rebooted open V4A and enable it. Congratulation you have successfully installed Viper4Android . Enjoy the great music experience. Now you can change the Viper settings or fine tune it according to your liking.

Welcome buddy...
Hi, I've got problem with HwParent and HwIntelligent, how install them if they are not installed in the original ROM...because I can't install them normally...package corrupt it says me....
you cannot install them normally, they have to be placed in the system partition and changing the permission as i have already given the screenshots...
Thank you
Hey,
thank you for explaining the manual way - that helped me a lot and also fixed a second problem i have had.
The problem was, that after the update my FM Radio was gone.
I found the app here but i cant push files by ADB as root. So i just installed doing the same way:
i copied the apk to an own folder to /system/app/ , set permissions, rebbooted and it worked perfect.
all your apps are working too.
Except the parental controll - i didnt install it because nothing planned yet... ^^

OK sorry, it was badly asked... I did it as you explained and I succeed to install them but I can't find where to activate them... Now, I find the parent control in the advanced settings with the "student app" with the last post and it works but where I can find or activate the "intelligent" smart assistance app ? And about the package installer, I pasted it in the priv-app file but what happens now ?

After you paste the package installer and gave permission , you have to delete( or cut to make a copy of ) google package installer,,, it will be activated when you remove google package installer folder in the same directory
