Random Android Crashes on stock firmware 23.5.A.1.291 - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone.
I am writing for some help from the community. I own a a Z2, 16 GB D6503 which is now running stock US international filmware 23.5.A.1.291. I've had several random crashes where the cellphone is unable to react from. When this happens the last thing on the screen freezes and I have to forcefully turn it off using power button and up volume shortcut since it does not react to any touch.
It appears that happens randomly. I haven't identified what is triggering the crash (and is not very frequent but as very nnoying). Finally, I made a fresh install using flash tool to see if I could solve this issue but I had not much success. The device is not rooted and boot loader not unlocked.
I don't know what to do now.
Any suggestions?

i have on my phone filmware 23.5.A.1.291 over one year
and it newer chrashes or i had those probleme .
you can flash with flashtool the firmware new And if you still have such problems
Something is broken on your phone

Screen freeze

Hi to all,
I have a strange problem with my p500.
Sometimes when the phone is in standby mode, the screen freezes and the touch screen does not work. after a few seconds (after pressing any key) the phone reboots itself and everything returns to normal
Does anyone have a similar problem?
What can i do for fix it?
Thanks
You may be facing the random sd card unmount issue (which sometimes results in rebooting of the phone).
LG has released a new firmware which addresses this issue (it worked for me ). Use the LG suite to update the firmware...
If you are the adventurous type then refer here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876447
Thanks for the answer,
I tried to update the firmware, but LG suite say that is already updated (v10a) .
My carrier is vodafone. It may be that different operators will have different versions of firmware? (I'm newbie here)

[Q] [REQ]Pls Help - ACTIVE ST17 Random Reboots

I am writing in desperation.
My Xperia Active is about 3 months old.
It is the ST17a version but that has never made much difference to anything else.
It has been unlocked via testpoint method so warranty is not valid (plus they don't sell this phone in my country anyway).
Phone randomly reboots when it is not plugged in to power, especially when trying to bring the phone out of lockscreen standby, after using any GPS function or just unlocking the phone
The fact that this WILL NOT happen when plugged in to power is telling me perhaps it is a power management issue.
Things I have tried so far: COMPLETE REFLASH formatting all available mounts from recovery mode + format SD card and start fresh.
Combinations:
1.Spartan Rom 1.9.5 + non-oc kernel
2. Spartan Rom + Rage Kernel
3. Different baseband versions including original (56??), .66 and .62 (currently have .62 installed)
4. EX MIUI + ST17 satsuma kernel
Reboots still happen with all of the above configs
The problem started suddenly whilst using GPS SportyPal pro + Bluetooth music I have previously not had any problems in this area but now they will not stop.
I did not experience any reboots with CM9 but I did not stay in that rom very long as there was way too much stuff not working on my handset - it probably would have happened eventually. Sometimes I can get over half a day of usage without a reboot but then will get like 5 in a row.
I absolutely LOVE this phone but I bought it primarily for sports tracking and it keeps crashing and losing my workouts so I'm getting pretty pissed off.
If anybody can tell me what to look at to try and track this down I would really appreciate it. Checking logcats are no good because it will never reboot whilst plugged in to USB. Are there any other logs I should check???
OK - if not any help to identify the cause - can anyone comment on repair cost @ sony service center out of warranty?
Try fully stock 4.0.2.A.0.62 firmware, some other phones had issues with restarting all the time also, this firmware is known to fix this.
SOLVED - have carried out 5 days of testing.
I can confirm the latest version of MIUIex has addressed my reboot woes.
Have been running reboot logger 1.9 on the phone since then and have not had a single unexpected reboot. I am a happy camper.
Not sure if perhaps there is/ was a common driver or something that was causing these problems between a few of the up to date roms - I am just happy the issue seems to have passed for now.
And it's back. I switched back to Telstra, that means back to 850mhz band, reboots are back with vengeance. Might need to try and find a st17a specific Rom and radio.

Wow, thanks!
Seems to have done the trick but now is back to vanilla flavour - seems the rooting process has gotten ridiculous lately, I wonder if it would be easier to pull this ftf to pieces and insert the radio detials etc into another rom file.
For now I guess I will use stock phone unrooted, at least it won't reboot.
THanks for your help!
i have also had that problem. I flashed the sti7a ics version and it is gone, after that you can use any rom without any prob.

Xperia X10i randomly restarts

Hi,
My phone started behaving strangely (random but very frequent restarts). Here is what I have done so far:
- Bought new battery - charged externally as well
- Tried separate sim cards
- Formatted the SD card
- Using Flashtool v0.9
- Flashed stock and numerous other ROMs
- Unlocked the boot loader / root the phone
- I did remove userdata and cache when flashing
However neither the upgrade to 2.3.3 nor the downgrade using the Sony ericsson suite helped. Now I have the android v2.3.4 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516960.
The frequency of reboots and shutdowns has definitely reduced but it still occurs rather often and sometimes even before you get to the home screen.
Please suggest what else can I do about it now.
regards
Ali
My phone also started to make me the same problem he's stuck for a few seconds and then do a restart
It happens several times a day
Hope someone will help us :/
How much free RAM and internal memory do you have?
Sent from my X10i using xda app-developers app
Same here stock rom and everything lots of free ram (around 80MB most of the time) the problem comes when i start to use it to start the browser or upload a photo or if i want to play a game.... i think i saw a similar thread in the forum but it ended in the advice to flash z kernel and it didn't work at lest for me

Hi, this ROM from championshipwinner i've been using for a year and was great and only with v8.3 i had rebooting problems, but when you installed this ROM, did you perform a clean installation of it?
Check the installation guide from here

Hope that helps

[Q] Xperia Z2 freezing unexpectedly

Good evening!
My significant other is the one who owns an Xperia Z2 and I just want to help her about what's happening to her phone.
The situation is that updating to Android 6.0 is not a good idea because ever since she updated her Z2, a persistent problem goes to show. Few days after updating to Android M, the phone lags every now and then and eventually ends up on a bootloop. Now on my part, I did a recovery through Sony Companion using a PC and then restored it to it's factory state. I thought we fixed the problem until few weeks passed and it happened again (lags-freeze-bootloop). I did the same process of restoring it every time it enters boot loop but the problem still arise.
I have little knowledge about how Sony Xperia phones work since it mainly relies on Sony Companion because usually Xperia phones have their bootloader locked unlike ASUS' and Samsung's phones.
I can't identify if this is a hardware or software issue because as for my observation, the problem just arise on Android 6.0
What could be the problem of her Z2 and what is the best possible solution to do?
Thanks in advance and God bless.

Use flashtool by androxyde to reflash the whole MM FW of your region and carrier. If it doesnt work, flash an older version of FW ( KK or LP ) to see if the problem still there.
Btw, is your phone rooted?

Thanks for the reply
Her Z2 isn't rooted, also there is no access to recovery mode since I can't enter recovery when I pressed the button combination.
Should I restore it with Sony Companion and then enable usb debugging so that I can enter recovery mode? If not, can you give me a heads up on what should I do? Thanks

Head over to flashtool and download an older android FW through it. And then flash it using flashtool.
Sent from my Sony Xperia Z2 using XDA Labs
Got the same problem with the latest stock version of my carrier, which I believe is 6.0. This problem also appears with Existenz ROM v5.1.0 which runs Android 6.0.1. Will try an older version of Android and test if the problem keeps appearing.
Thank you all,

Numerous seemingly unrelated issues

I've been having many software issues with my M4 E2303, ll try make this as short as possible:
I keep on having issues with every firmware I flash. A problem will go away after flashing, but a different one will pop up.
Please note all these firmwares are STOCK.
Issues include:
- Very poor wifi signal (Marshmallow ONLY)
- Wifi "freezing" (Seems like a wifi driver crash) (Lollipop only, fixed after reflash)
- OS Crash with soft reboot (lollipop, happened alongside previous wifi freeze, is still occurring on new firmware)
- Bluetooth not function (seemingly fixed)
The issue im currently experiencing is the OS crash, which occurs randomly with no discernible cause.
From what I can see, flashing with flashtool may well install a new OS, but it seems like it doesnt completely remove elements of the previous firmware. Is there any way I can flash and make sure all my system files are completely replaced by the new firmware?
UPDATE:
I installed stock android 5.0 and booted successfully, WiFi had an issue. I turned off the phone to let it charge and.... it won't turn on. Gets stuck in a infinite bootloop from which I cant recover. I've flashed it twice with different firmwares on the Xperia Flashtool and used the PC companion to do a software repair twice. Still dead... Left it overnight turned off and booted it in the morning, reached the purple waves and froze. Thats the furthest its ever got into a boot.
Don't soft reboot the phone, it's not recommended
Well my phone is actually Rebooting it self for no reason RANDOMLY i don't know why but it happened to me more than 5 times
