Help with Nougat Beta on Huawei P9 Lite - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, all!
This is my very first post. Not even sure if there's a solution to this, tried searching but probably my keywords didn't exactly hit it.
I have a Huawei P9 Lite. I just received the OTA update for Nougat Beta with build number VNS-L31C636B331. My previous build was VNS-L31C636B170. I received the OTA update after I registered to become a beta tester. The installation was successful, things went running smoothly until I noticed my VPN app was closing when my phone is locked (even when I had it set to run after screen-lock). It got so annoying until I decided to reformat my phone. Things are running fine again, but some system or stock Huawei apps are missing, like calendar, clock, and calculator, to name a few.
Is there a way to download and reinstall these apps? And if so, are the downloadable apps already designed for Nougat on Huawei? Or are they from Marshmallow?
If there is no way to download stock apps, can I ask help to downgrade to Marshmallow? I'm planning to downgrade, and then tick back the Nougat update again from settings.
Thank you so much, guys!

EMUI 3.0 on HAM2 MT-L05

EMUI 3.0 was just released few days ago, unfortunately only for China variant.
It is now under Beta version, receiving feedback from tester.
Already installed on my HAM 2 MT-L05, quite a large changes in user interface. and have the Android L navigation bar.

Thanks! I just posted the article on g+ and tagged the Huawei USA team
Does anyone know what the differences are between the China device and the US device? Processor, ram etc

Processor/GPU is completely different hi silicon kirin v qualcomm snapdragon. Completely different LTE bands. Same amount of ram. Same screen. Data partition is emulated on MT2-L05, but this may have come about when we installed the kitkat update.
Hmmmmm so then a port might not be impossible. I run an S5 port on a Note 3 completely functional. I'll have to ask around and see what some devs think
what about the other ones. mt2-c00.mt2-l01.mt2-l02
the otther china variant have the update as well
Sent from my HUAWEI MT2-L05 using XDA Free mobile app
So this is just purely cosmetic? Doesn't seem like it's worth the effort since I would have to uninstall TWRP and reinstall my stock recovery, right?

The Chinese variant has received KK so I don't think this is purely cosmetic
HAM2 ...
I have just rooted a newly purchased HAM2 and completed the root using towelroot. Have been trying unsuccessfully to upgrade the EMUI to 3.0, so I decided to look around and discovered that I need to first update to EMUI 2.3. Does anyone have a full working version of this update??

I believe its in this drive folder. Edit*** actually I'm wrong. I'm not sure we ever got 2.3 for ours

EMUI 2.3 is only available for the Chinese variants of Mate 2, It's installed alongside KitKat 4.4.2
Emui 2.3 and EMUI 3.0 are currently unavailable for Mate 2 US version.
The EMUI 3.0 update is not an entirely cosmetic makeover as it does add a few new features to the phone.

Yeah, the only way we are getting 3.0 and KK is if someone can port the Chinese ROM and UI over and make the necessary changes so that everything on our devices works.

Well, I guess I have to just put a custom ROM on this bad boy and tough it out until I get this one+one!!!
If u can find one...
Suddenly i am so glad that i got the china version...
So far pretty please with the new ui. But I realise the camera shutter is very very slow.. Almost unusable.. The stock messaging app is a little confusing. And, I can't figure out how to change to another launcher... Anyone have any idea?
I am on b603. Received an ota to upgrade to b606 worth 140mb. Anyone have any idea what it's about?
Uodate: well I did the updating. Nothing seems to have changed. But the root did survive.

Hi. I had the same problem on b606. Nothing would stick as a launcher as Huawei Home always overrides everything.
I got around this by installing nova launcher from playstore ( I'm sure any other launcher will work fine ).
Nova Launcher wouldn't stick as default launcher, Huawei Home always overrode it, so after making sure I had another launcher installed, I installed Rom toolbox pro and used the manage apps setting. I scrolled down to Huawei home, tapped on it and selected "FREEZE". As soon as you do this, the option to set Nova as default launcher appeared and has worked perfectly ever since.
Like I said, you can use any other launcher, just make sure you have it installed before you freeze "Huawei Home"
On a side note, I also had to re-root the rom after installation as root had gone, and I also had to perform the delete "set_immutable_list" hack to get Full root back.
( Bear in mind, I had TWRP installed on my MT2-L05 so the initial b603 OTA update wouldn't install for me, I had to download the full 1.23gb rom from Huawei Website and do a completely new flash from scratch, so this is why I probably lost root )
I also just checked the camera, the shutter speed is ninja fast for me .

Did you have to revert to the stock recovery before you were able to install the update? Wondering if there's a way to apply the update while still using TWRP.
No mate. I didn't bother. I just downloaded the full b603rom from the Huawei website, extracted the "dload" folder to my external sd card, powered down phone, held in VOL UP+VOL DOWN and then held in the POWER on and it just fastflashed the rom over the top of TWRP.
I then had an OTA for b606 which is about 140mb, I installed that and then rebooted.
I just booted into recovery out of curiosity, and now have an EMUI logo recovery with 3 options :
Reboot System Now
Wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
At least now we finally have full album artwork on lockscreen and media controls on lockscreen....looks pretty cool.
I have tried it with Spotify, N7 Player, Tunein Pro and Pocketcasts and they all display fullscreen artwork and media controls on lockscreen work for all of them.

I am from Pakistan myself and got OTA update about a month ago. What's your model?
Mine is PLK-L01.
Update notifications don´t come at the same time for every country or even every user in the same country.
1- Don't stress out, just wait. Or even better, wait for the first feedbacks from other users about the update. Some are not good enough, i.e. solve some problems while fixing others.
2- Make sure you have HiCare updated. This can be done inside the app itself. Check the "early adopters" section inside the app.
3- Make sure you make a backup full relevant data with Huawei Backup app, into external USB drive (OTG) or sdcard.
4- After update, factory reset, restore from backup and phone is as it was before but updated.

Hello everyone one. Somebody Help me pls
2 days ago I updated my honor 8x(jsn-l22) to android 9 and it was awful. I didn't like so I decided to downgrade to 8.1. I used hisuite to downgrade but the speed of downloading was really bad so I couldn't do it. So I gave it to someone to do it. He flashed the official (8.1.0 oreo) with some tool and when the flashing operation was in 99% it faced with an error user data part. And now my phone is running Android 8.1 but not correctly. The build number is changed to this
(chipset-miamic20 8.2.0.001(00X4)) and system UI is totally different and I don't know what to do now.
We tried to flash other versions but actually nothing is able to be flashed. It comes with error even at the first step of flashing. Every ROM we tried flashing all were unsuccessful and came with error.
Please if there is any way to fix this problem, let me know
The phone is stocked in this ROM.
Here is a screen shot of about device. I'm really disappointed HELP PLEASE.

I did a full downgrade this more to oreo using hisute after the successful downgrade I then proceeded to use the tools to install Google play and services on the device after installation was complete I rebooted the device once it started back up I tried to laignch the play store which refused to proceed from the sign in screen.
Tried that and still having issues not really sure what would be the next step to get the service to work.

Update I was successful in getting it to work after the downgrade I used the GMSanzhuangqi.apk. Prior to me starting the process of trying to get the google apps to work I initially installed the GMSanzhuangqi.apk and didn't run it per instructions. I installed the Google installer v2 and let it do its thing once that was done I rebooted and it didn't work play store or Google services didn't work either I was getting a blank white screen opened it and installed it. it will manually remove the google apps you may have manually installed before once that done the phone will automatically reboot once I has been rebooted use the Appgalery select China region from the setting and search for Google play store and install it. That's it hope this helps some one else. :good:

guys, if you still care. huawei mate 20 lite sne-lx1 Kirin 710 after debrand from C781 to C432. died . with DC Phoenix and HCU I made Board Firmware + C432 firmware but it became hybrid. looks like Android 7, CPU application detects Android 8 and as build number: chipset-miamic20 8.2.0.001 (01xp) model FAY. They suggest me to install NV - but I don't know what it is. I have no original backup. If it stays that way - do google play, services, gmail work? thanks for any advice.

How can I downgrade my Android 8.0 to 7.0? (Mate 10 lite)

Hey,
Altough I bet there are hunderds of threads like this, I decided to create another one
So because I have my mate 10 lite around 2 years (a bit less), I would like to get an upgrade. Sadly I won't get Android Pie officially, so I'd like to install a custom ROM.
To do that I need an unlocked bootloader which dc-unlocker is only able to do below Android 8.0.
So I would have to downgrade my Android 8.0 (Btw, EMUI is also 8.0) to Nougat 7.0.
The method through HiSuite didn't worked since it just says "Newest Developer Version installed", but nothing with "Switch to other versions".
Also through Firmeware Finder (Playstore App) it doesn't show me the option "In-App Proxy", so I guess it doesn't work either with that.
Is there another way to do, if so I would really appreciate any help
Thanks in advance
My Mate 8 also keeps on Android 8.0, without any update to Android Pie officially.
If the official utility, HiSuite, which is developed by Huawei doesn't work, we maybe have no way to downgrade the system software on Mate 10 or Mate 8.

It all depends on your current build version. If I remember correctly the ability to use DC was patched in most custs in May or June. So if your security date is prior to May you can still use DC. If not you're out of luck. You can use testpoint to flash board software and then get unlock code through there, but it requires you to remove the back of your phone which will break IP rating and void warranty (If it's still under warranty)

GMS install on Emui11 (translated)

Hi all,
I have a P40 Pro Plus ELS-N39 c636 @ Emui 11.0.0.168. I've been searching for all successful methods to get GMS installed and especially any recent methods that don't require a downgrade of Emui to 10.X levels as I think, and I maybe be wrong in thinking this, would stand less chance of bricking the phone by not having to go through the downgrade firmware method.
This led me to find this website and guide in Chinese. Credit to Mobileai.net and I think a 'Leo' who explains the steps in Mandarin. It seems to be a method of using Googlifier (maybe modded) on Emui11.
https://mobileai.net/2020/11/13/huawei-emui-11-install-google-play-store-googlefier-gms/
You can use a decent browser to translate the text to English.
I have not tried this guide yet and would like to seek any concerns any one may have of the procedure. In my head all the activity is in software and any problems can be reverted by factory reseting to the base firmware of the phone. The guide does say there's a good chance it may not work for international versions but since my phone is HK origin I might be successful....
What do you all think? Worth a try?
Thanks in advance.
To my knowledge, the Chinese firmware is much easier for getting Google services installed, while the European one has been hardened to comply with the ban.

The one Leo uses is actually the same one as what bender007 posted in here (yes I did binary comparison they're identical).
The key is that LZPlay app got installed on your phone has to be able to work with your firmware, which you will know by clicking on the LZPlay app once it's installed by the Googlefier. Tried it on my P40 pro (APAC/Australia version), didn't work even after I downgraded to 10.1.0.182, I couldn't get the firmware version even lower so it's basically a deadend for me, yours might be different LZPlay might work with your HK version firmware tho.
Tried this method on ELS-AN10 with EMUI11 11.0.0.170 and it is working.
Took me around 4 hours and 7 unsuccessful tries before it was successful.

Hey all.
So sufficient time has past to make me feel like trying the downgrade route to try Googlifier with the above method.
I've followed the prep work on my laptop for my build using this ICTfix video for the latest 1 downgrade route.
I'm presently on EMUI 11.0.0.193 (C636E2R1P3).
Using https://firmfinder.ml I'd like to confirm thee filtered results are correct for my phone:
Downgrade version set:
ELS-LGRP6-OVS (hw-spcseas) 10.10.132
ELS-N39-CUST (hw-spcseas) 10.1.0.3 (C636)
ELS-N39-PRELOAD (hw-spcseas) 10.1.0.1(C636R1)
Does this combo for Hsuite proxy seem right to allow Googlifier to work and do I need to go to the lowest available firmware for C636? 10.1.0.142 is the next available. then 10.1.0145.
Thanks for any input you guys may share.

So, PLIIIIZ - what's the password to the archive??? THANK YOU!
The password is the full website address. Case sensitive.
Thought I give you all an update since I got no reply. So I prepped everything to do the googlifier install and tried it first with no downgrade. The process got stuck at opening the purple / blue big G icon. Basically this meant I needed to roll back the firmware. I did so using HSuite proxy and the firmfinder link and used the 3 versions I mentioned before specific for ELS-N39, c636 r1. I just hoped it didn't brick my phone! Anyway, roll back took a while to finish but was successful. Installing gms wasn't so straight forward. In the translated steps I got stuck at around the step 30s where Google store and contact syncs should behave a certain way between resetting the phone.
