For microG to work properly, one has to use Xposed or a patch like Tingle by @ale5000 in order to spoof the signature of a bunch of google play services. That is, unless they use Omnirom, which allows it to work out of the box. See the thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-microg-gmscore-floss-play-services-t3217616

There's another link in that thread (the one that says "read here about why it's not") that probably explains how sigspoofing works better than I ever could. But I'm wondering if RR or anything incorporates that particular feature of Omnirom

well, omni is based on aosp, and rr is based on lineage, they has their differences

If you have a know-how/resources, you can manually patch necessary repos and build ROM yourself (I did that for Slim builds on my previous device), commits are available on gerrit, you'll just have to fix some merge conflicts... CM didn't want to support that on CM12.1 (I remember discussion from their gerrit back then), others followed their example, so I guess that is current state of things on Lineage and other CM based ROMs even now...

I thought I read somewhere that more recent Omni 6/7 builds have been somewhat based on CM as well. Not that that would stop Omni from including sigspoofing, but I guess this is more a question whether RR includes that aspect of Omni in our device's unofficial RR release despite it being based on Lineage

I definitely have neither the knowhow nor the resources. :silly:
(Edit: idk how to link posts, I thought it would combine, sorry)
I guess if I want this sort of support consistently, I'll have to choose my next device based on Omnirom availability...

Well, if I ever decide to start working on kiwi, I'll probably patch necessary stuff, you can count on that.. But I still haven't even unlocked and rooted mine (in case I suddenly decide to resell it/replace for something with bit more regular updates - still haven't decided anything, not too happy with software and official support, but to lazy to anything about it).... Who knows when will that happen.

Youll probably never find any solace in official support/EMUI. Rumor has it that an official Nougat will be released at some point, but my only foray into Nougat gave me horrible battery life. I'm pretty happy with MM.

"At some point" can be deep into 2017 or never but ok, I'm used to that, had a LG device which suddenly went out-of-support after not even full year of life. And it was a flagship. I'd be glad if even monthly patches are kind of regular... just dreams, haha.

Include the patch is really simple for any ROM, it doesn't depend on anything particular, it is just a choice of the one that build it.
The official patches are here.

OTA is not implemented yet on cm13. So you have to manually download and install it.
OTA is implemented when the CM13 becomes an official nightly. I think this is a matter of months.

This isn't how it works... When you start development for a device under CM sources, CM forks your device tree and kernel. From there proper patches and everything that needs to be changed on their side is made. We are waiting for them to merge tristate options... Considering the patch set was last from the 31st I'm a bit worried. Ashwin continues to update sources on his side, but that is the last I've seen from CM. In other words, have patience. It will come eventually

It has many features Resurrection Remix has. I don't like the term "benefits". It's different.
It's Android 6.0.1 .

It's nice, fast and stable.. The only thing i found is that when i click on Live Display in settings, settings crash. The same was on RR Rom too.. So there is something wrong with source ?!?!?!?! don't know

So from the feedback I have gotten from this thread, there isn't much interest in AICP. That alright

What I found not working until now are the LiveDisplay, it says "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped". When wanting to add more tiles in the notification dropdown, when reaching Heads Up option it displays error message "Unfortunalety, System UI has stopped" and it takes me to the main locked screen.
Have these bugs been addressed in a newer version? I do like it and would like to use it as my daily OS, but I use both LiveDisplay and there are some tiles that I would like to add to make my life easier.
Thanks

Will this phone ever see official Cyanogenmod roms?
No. Le will never release kernel sources. So you will never have pure CM roms. The CM roms will be based on official ones like 16S, 17S etc.

Yes I guess, its just this is the key reason whether I decide to buy this phone or not, dont want to be stuck with chinese roms in the future.
Hi,
Well we already have resurrection remix which is more than decent.
OK... Maybe with a precompiled kernel but still.
I use it as a daily driver and encountered no problems so far except for a slightly too high battery drain.
But a device tree would allow to build other ROMs which would be really cool...
Regards
@deadman96385 it's already in the mid of september.. do you still see any realistic chance that we're gonna see some kernel source or a cyanogenmod in the future. if you do.. of which timeframe do we talk? days, weeks months?

What are the main disadvantages between precompiled kernel and the use of kernel sources?
Also, I recommend checking htcmania Spain forum, because Parasite_remix is cooking Mooke and CM13 ROMs with 17S firmware.

Hi,
With the custom kernel, that one can be "optimized" for the device and all missing drivers can be added. At least, that is what I have been told but I'd be glad to be proven wrong.
For the htcmania link : thanks a ton, but I don't think I'll use it.
I sold the x820. Battery drain was really too high and even with moderate use, I could barely get through the day
Finding a replacement was tough, but I am trying the Xiaomi mi5 and Moto X Style (Pure) to see if they can do the job...
Both have flaws the x820 had not. And I honestly must admit that I am missing the x820 already
Regards.

There are a few problems with using prebuilt kernels.
1. Upstream changes in Android source code might need related kernel changes, if you don't have the kernel source you can't do this.
2. For the same reason, you may be stuck on old android versions if the kernel isn't compatible with newer versions
3 Vendor may have customized some android frameworks and made related kernel changes. As CM wouldn't have these changed frameworks, some features may not work (although this doesn't appear to be an issue with this phone as the CM builds for it seems to be fully functional)

Unofficial CM 14.1 by @cr3pt support 'VoLTE Call'???

Hi @cr3pt, @ffboy2009, @CrackerTeg, @STEVE_MARS , @deadman96385, & other great developers
Billion thanks for your development work!!!
I know there is some misunderstanding between some of you, but for the sake of this device please come together and create history with amazing CM ROM. I know if you guys come together there is nothing you cannot achieve as I have been passively following you guys.
Apart from above 'request' I would like to confirm if CM or Mokee ROMs support 'Volte calls'(voice over lte)???
In India we have this feature Volte calls on 4G network, even EUI 5.8.021S supports this feature.
I tried CM13, CM14.1, Mokee 60.X but could not find any of it supports this feature, and that is the main reason I could not use the beautiful and powerful ROMs.
Could someone here please explain if Volte call feature is not supported at all in CM based roms?
Thanks you once again to all developers for their work, only because of you guys we could enjoy latest features of AOSP.
Can you look into *#*#4636#*#* for that option available?
Wysłane z mojego A0001 przy użyciu Tapatalka
Thanks for your quick response.
I have been testing your CM14.1 ROMs but could not reply as I have recently officially joined this forum.
Using *#*#4636#*#* we can enable the LTE option, and the internet(LTE/4G) works fine in CM based ROMs(Mokee 60.X, CM13 onwards) but 'cannot connect call using Volte option'.
Like I said, in India Volte call feature is different and Volte 4G internet is different.
And, in eui volte call works perfectly fine.
Apart from that just wanted to know below points,
1. why CM14.1 is eating so much RAM(more than 1.5GB, system)? still?
2. can we camera app in CM14.1 use camera2 api as default? It does work great with EUI 5.9.021S with Footej Camera app
3. F2FS(not sure but the file system better than ext4) file system utilization is included? is it really very useful apart from theory? and which TWRP version to use to make use of it?
4. Would DOZE(battery saver app of android 7?) be included?
5. And the main feature CDLA?
6. Also, I think your ROM CM14.x is built using the kernel sources? it is not the ported ROM, right?
I don't and won't ever do cm based roms @xuser_
I do work on this device and other devs are welcome to cherry pick from my trees for their projects. Also, as I previously stated, I won't publish anything on xda. I don't need my thanks button incessantly mashed to push me to further develop. That's not why I do this.

android p sources are out final but no ports yet?

It's been a week android pie is available...and xiaomi mi4 even got the android pie ROM today and we don't have any leak about Nexus 6p. I guess Nexus and pixel should be the first to get any leak on os because of same manufacturer. Does anyone know what's the status of development of pie of
Nexus 6p :crying:
There was a post up yesterday. @drewwalton19216801 successfully built Android pie for Nexus 6P, but wasn't able to test it because the physical port on his phone didn't connect to adb for some reason. So, he posted the builds if others wanted to try booting. There were a couple that were attempting to flash and help with the progress. The thread appears to have vanished overnight. I can't seem to find it anymore.
Jup, I tested it.
Was able to grab a logcat from adb so the kernel itself seems to boot.
But there are too many fatal errors right now.
I believe it was a pretty hacked build.

I know @drewwalton19216801 said he used the official source code and drivers, kernel, etc. That's probably the most pure it can get. Probably another reason he wanted to get it tested. I'm sure if he had a working phone that development would move along more quickly for him.
Last he said in his thread was that he was compiling something specific for you in regards to getting it to flash properly. I was really looking forward to that thread making progress. It's kind of mysterious that the mods just made his thread disappear as if nothing ever happened.

Treble, maybe. I won't be porting it ?
OnePlus get AOSP Android Pie ports
OnePlus 2 recieve port of Pie, an it too has Snap 810
I'm currently working on porting P over and I have it compiling right now. Once I have it able to boot I will upload it. Then I'll optimize it and fix all of the underlying bugs.
Edit: Repetition.

It's going to be released as an AOSP rom, So that the community has a baseline for Pie ROMS. Other than compatibility tweaks, and some small performance, thermal and battery tweaks, it will be completely vanilla. I'm trying to keep it as pure as possible meaning only AOSP source and Huawei binaries.
However, I already have plans on releasing a Pie based custom rom with a Pixel theme. So keep an eye out for AugmentOS in the future
Edit: This may take awhile. The non-frees don't want to compile correctly and when they do they don't boot.

Ayy it has been a little bit longer for you then! Welcome back to the unrelenting hostility of building AOSP for unsupported phones.
A couple friends and I have gotten a working build but IMS, RIL, camera, Bluetooth, and probably more need to be fixed. Please be patient, this is in no way an easy thing.

Cool. Ik know it can really be a b#tch without a decent (official) device tree.
Once tried to make a device tree for the Galaxy A7 Exynos. Didn't get it to work.
Keep it up!!
