For people like me, who like to use their phone a lot for everything (work, communication, news, etc.), having a phone with long battery life is crucial for people who don’t have access to a charger throughout the day. Sadly, more phone makers are making thinner phones instead of adding bigger batteries, leading to many dead smartphones. Fortunately, Zerolemon is there to save the day.

This case is specifically for the S7 model, NOT the S7 Edge (although they do make a similar case for the S7 Edge as well.) It not only offers rugged protection, but it also charges your phone over 1 2/3 times. This almost triples your phone’s battery life, allowing light users to go up to 3 days without needing a charge and heavy users to go over a full day with the phone surviving everything you throw at it (music, texting, navigation, YouTube, full brightness, productivity apps, gaming, etc.) This charged my S7 from empty to full in an hour and 30 minutes, so it offers fast charging as well. The case has a button on the back that charges the phone. When you want to stop charging the phone, you press the button and it stops the charging. It also has 4 LED lights to indicate the charge level of the case. To charge the case, simply leave it plugged into the phone and plug a cable into the case. It directs the power to the phone first, then once the phone is charged the case starts charging.
The only slight downside is that it adds a good amount of bulk to your phone. However, anyone looking for a battery case should assume that it makes your phone bigger know the tradeoff. I have grown quite accustomed to it and now I feel weird if I hold a phone that DOESN’T have a battery case on it.

okay so i just received my 3240 ext. battery...i will do several tests once fully depleted and properly recharged...the battery was slightly below full charge upon installing...Im trying to make these tests as scientifically accurate as possible (variable free and unbiased). once i get this first cycle done.
i will test according to the following:
*i will not test with any variables (this includes signal strength), so while running these the phone will be in airplane mode
*also to ensure consistency i will wipe the phone completely and freeze any apps that arent critical to the function of the phone
(although im tempted to install neo adrenaline 2.0 for these tests, if only to eliminate any bloatware from skewing results)
*aside from unlocking and superuser (needed to calibrate the battery after first full charge), unless otherwise stated, the phone will be completely stock (605.12)
(unless i do install adrenaline 2.0) either way the tests will be coducted in the same manner each time including rom and apps installed
*in accordance with the least amount of variables rule i will keep the phone at full brightness, screen on, while running a stress testing app (this will help shorten times between tests as im trying to kill the battery as quickly as possible
*these series of tests will take quite a while to do
(hopefully, if all goes well and if this battery is up to its snuff, itll be a ***** to drain)
*results will be published at the bottom of each full discharge cycle (phone turns its self off), and will continue to post results until the 10th discharge
*on the 11th recharge i will enable the antennae and rerun the test to see how much the signal strenght and such affected the actual life of the battery
Any suggestions on what else to test for or if im missing anything?!?!
i know setcpu has a stress test built in but id like something to stress test the gpu and cpu at the same time if at all possible, any suggestions are welcome.
which apps would you like to see used in the test, since i know setcpu isnt the best option for this...ive heard battery monitor widget stated a few times in other threads since temperature is also a key factor, i will consider it.

theres no way im going to pay for a mugen power battery...so i propose a wager...ill gladly pay for one if it does out perform every other battery i get my hands on AND if the power rating is with in an acceptable range of their official rating (4000mah) upon completion of testing...

There's an app called Stability Test in the Play Store that has a CPU/GPU stress test mode, and it supports multi-threading, so it should work for what you're wanting to do.

this battery is great.
i have had some problems with the phone rebooting, but that could be my phone, not the battery, and it doesn't do it all the time.
the phone easily lasts all day and usually most of the next day when i forget to charge it at night, and i am on my phone extensively.
I have been looking at the laza also. Great price on Amazon.

Laza extended battery
I bought an extended Laza battery on Amazon an I've been using it for a couple of days now. I'm only on my 3rd charge cycle but I can see a major improvement in battery life. For $30 (including shipping), it seemed to be a good deal.
What I don't like about it is the back cover that comes with the package. The antenna material inside the cover is pasted with some really gooey adhesive and it's a lot thicker than the OEM stuff. That makes the closing of the cover difficult, as you have to squeeze the antenna between the phone and the cover itself. Also, I noticed that one of the tabs for holding the cover attached to the phone was missing on the volume rocker side. That causes creaking and leaves a gap between the phone and the cover on that side. There is also a gap at the top, that never closes, as the retaining tabs are in the wrong position. I wrote to Laza and they said they'll ship a new (and tested) cover to me next week. I'll report more when it arrives.

I received the second cover from Laza and it seems to fit just as poorly as the first one. Also, it was supposed to be tested for the 4g reception, but it drops my 4g twice as often as the initial one. The battery is holding its ground and charges to 3248 mA overnight. With 4g enabled and moderate to heavy use of the phone, it lasts 6-7 hours max, with juice saving tweaks and the screen at 30%. I haven't made up my mind if I want to return everything and get the OEM battery and cover, or just keep this stuff and deal with it's shortcomings. Obviously, I can't recommend it to anyone due to the poor quality of the back-cover.

If this battery lasts longer than the Verizon extended battery, I'd be interested in just the battery without the cover as I use the standard cover cut to allow the extended battery to stick out, and then a modified defender case.
I think he could sell the battery alone for half the price, but does not do so at this time.
I use this battery with the OEM extended back cover. After extensively running data speed tests(nothing official just a million runs using the speedtest app with each cover) I was able to determine that the LAZA battery does in fact run cooler, as the Amazon reviews state, than the OEM batteries. It also gets longer battery life than the OEM extended battery, however i have no numbers for this just regular usage/charging times i had. But between the 2 LAZA back covers, i never seemed to be able to snag quite the dl speed i got with the OEM covers, however my upload speed on the LAZA covers strangely doubled what the OEM covers got. Who cares about the upload speed though obviously dl is more useful! So in general LAZA battery with OEM extended cover gave me the best results for heat, battery run time, and data speed. Reception between all the covers(OEM extended, 2 LAZA extended, OEM regular cover) was virtually the same. I hope this info helps someone because i know when i was looking for this exact same comparison i could find nothing except for the shady Amazon reviews.
im getting well over two days of light usage (mostly idling), and around 15 moderate (web browsing, videos and a few hours music) about 7-8 hardcore gaming (nova and gta3 w/ preset draw distance and resolution)...this battery is a must buy except the backs rubber texture has begun to peel a little...signal strength is great and runs extremely cool...only times ive had issues with the battery getting hot or draining is when its encountered a renegade app that refuses to close or idle, which is hardly a battery issue

I have an HTC OEM extended battery. I can fit a spare battery in my pocket but don't feel like carrying an extra cover. Will this battery work with the HTC extended battery cover?
yeah...i believe its exact same dimensions...at least from the other reviews ive read they are interchangable with is cool cuz the rubberization on the laza case is peeling off...it does look better than the oem extended cover at first but yeah it should fit fine

i have had this battery for a couple of days and i can honestly say that my 4g reception has been better! Laza updated their product because they saw all of the complaints that's why it says "extended battery 4g" when you get it
I am considering a purchase of the T-mobile Galaxy S5. The S6 is off the table since it doesn't have a removable battery and memory expansion. After several hours of research I discovered that the S5 has the best screen. This is important to me since I need to use the phone in full sunlight.
My research also uncovered that the phone may overheat if being charged and used at the same time. I have an S3 that will overheat if I use navigation in the car while using a charger so I am concerned that the S5 may also have the same problem. For those of you that have used navigation during a long trip like four plus hours has the phone gotten hot to the touch, not just warm but hot? My S3 would even reboot on a hot day and the battery bulged from the heat. Please share your experiences.
I have an s5 and I will not know if that is an issue. Samsungs sells an extra battery with a charging case. I got it at best buy for 34. So if it really is an issue for you, I recommend that as a solution to a problem that might not exist.
All phones tend to heat up if used for call while charging. Don't use for calls, and you should be good. I have used my phone as GPS for drives over 8 hours at a stretch, with phone connected to car charger all the time, and with no heating up. Just make sure your phone isn't under sun when put on windshield.
Has anyone used any battery case yet? I've seen some on Amazon, but only a few and none from recognized companies. Not sure if the reviews are trustworthy either.
I like using ultra slim cases and so obviously battery cases are not my preference for daily drivers. But would be awesome for those crazy long days, specially on hikes where no charging options.

It's...terrible. To reach the fingerprint sensor requires acrobatics or a sideways reach that is wholly uncomfortable. It charges either slowly or rapidly (100 mah to about 1450) at the cases own prerogative. It throws the flash off when taking a picture as well.
I've found that at seemingly random intervals I would have had to taken the phone out to charge it (the case would be at 100% charged and would be trickle charging the phone at such a low level that sometimes it loses a charge instead of gaining one.
Also, it's a fingerprint magnet.
There only seems to be two on Amazon and minus the names they are the exact same case.
For sixty bucks? Don't buy it. Or be prepared to return it. As I'm going to.

I got this case when they posted a coupon code here a few weeks ago. it sucks! doesn't seem capable of charging the normal pixel 1 full time. and gets really warm when using it. you're better off getting Aukeys 5k pocket battery and a short cable to recharge in your pocket between uses when needed. at least Aukeys mini pack can rapid charge and you'll get more juice in less time when u are charging.
This S8 is going to be my first sealed battery phone. I'm going to miss those days of being able to carry a spare battery and get back up 100% in 30 seconds. I'm wondering if I should get a battery case or an external battery bank?

I think it'd be easier to do this with a battery case that has an on/off button.
just avoid discharging to 0% and when ever you can don't charge to 100%. I heard somewhere that s8 battery has better properties that last generation samsung phones and it wear out waaaay slower.

Coz, I don't want my phone to be as thick as a brick. When the bettery is going to run out, I prefer to use the cable to connect to a power bank.
In addition , the power bank mostly have much more juice than a battery case.
I think a battery case is more convenient. I have both and I like not having to carry the phone in one pocket and the cord and bank in the other. However, having a bank allows you to charge multiples devices and last longer since it isn't made for a specific device. The bank would be more useful and the case more convenient.

I think a battery case would be better because you can slap it on charge up then take it off after. With a bank you have to plug in the phone and have the cord hanging around while the phone charges. Check out my boy Flossy's video:

I'm surprised there were more people with "battery tips" than those willing to reaffirm this statement. As long as you're using reliable chargers and/or charging cases and not regularly in 110+ degree weather, you really don't need to overthink things when it comes to insuring the longevity of the Li-Ion batteries Samsung uses.
As for the base question, I agree with...everybody, and say both.
The S8 is not a small phone to begin with. Without a case it barely fits in the back pocket of most of my jeans at least a bit, and creates a clear rectangular outline in all but my loosest of jeans that just looks...awkward. I don't like big phones for every day use as much as most people seem to, but if I'm dressed semi-nicely and going out for the evening I'm fine with the way it looks and feels in my back pocket.
There is NO battery case that exists where that would still be true, I mean, as others have said, the phone becomes a brick. For regular use outside the house, battery cases just look and feel awkward. I've now owned three, including the insanely overpriced Mophie option sold at Best Buy (it was a gift, don't waste the money) and when doing work around the house they're great for heavy use through a full day, whereas I usually have to plug it in fairly early into the evening when running on the internal battery alone.
For every day use, outside the house, I always carry a messenger bag with a QC 2.0 compatible battery pack. Considering the fact that most battery cases are bulky enough to warrant carrying them in a bag, it just makes more sense to me to carry a 18650 cell based battery pack with a far greater capacity (even on the low end) than any case is going to have, and when in use, or if I want to put my bag down for a while, I can just unplug and use my semi-normal sized phone, or carry it less awkwardly in my pocket for a while.
Especially with QC 2.0 being so...quick, I'd say a battery pack is far preferable for most people in almost every case, but battery cases do have their place here and there. If I need something really compact I personally go with the Anker PowerCore Speed 10000 (36Wh), but I usually end up carrying one RavPower or Anker's larger packs that can use QuickCharge to charge the S8 as well as the battery pack itself. Its not as notable if you're only draining the battery pack every few days and charging it overnight, but for my purposes, often on the road, camping, and hiking, being able to have a 72-80Wh pack charged in less than half the time has been a huge convenience.

I've been using my site to push partners and suppliers on this and nobody is planning on producing one which I find completely crazy.
It seems that the only phones that get battery cases are Samsung devices and Apple devices, but I would buy the sh!t out of a case I could clip over my phone and extend the battery by a few 1000 mAhs. Battery life really matters to me and I would sacrifice svelte-like aesthetics for it.
Anyone else looking for one too? (I've even used my PR contacts at Oneplus...they haven't even responded )
To those who say "use an external battery pack" I say, "I do", but I'd rather not carry two items especially when I'm at events like IFA recently.
What's the point when the charging is so quick? You're normally gonna be near a car or power point.
Why would you need the more mah? Can't you get trough a full day with the op5???

As I said, not when I'm at events and the like. I travel a lot for work also so yes I can charge when I get to hotels but it's VERY handy to trigger a switch and feed from battery case.

Under normal circumstances yes, however at events where there are lots of videos and pictures being taken as well as social media and more, then no. I can get through a day with about 4 hours SoT (12-14 hour day) and that's with about 10% left in normal use (best case scenario)

Jeez, some of the comments here are extremely assumption heavy. It's like they aren't even considering your point, or situations that would make you want a battery case.
I personally don't want a battery case, but it's trivial to imagine a scenario where it could be helpful. Zerolemon made one for the oneplus 3 I believe, I imagine they'll make one for the oneplus 5 as well.
I would be interested in a battery case for those rare circumstances. However, i don't want a poorly made one. I'm not sure how zero lemons have been lately, but the ones for nexus 5 and 6p i hated.
I orefer the thin build of the phone. I work with Linux a lot so i just apply Franco Kernel and my own custom settings in his app and terminal emulator. Usually nets me about 2 days of usage and around 10-11 hrs sot. If im not asleep by then at my home near my charger im probably MIA. I prefer to carry my external power in my backpack. I used an insanely huge battery for my S5 years ago and got sick of the 3 inch thick phone scheme
I wouldn't need a battery case. I find it hard people would really need it as I get 9-11 hours of screen on time (with fairly heavy usage). With Dash Charge, you can top off in just an hour and 20 min and a days worth of power in just 30-45 min. I doubt with a phone with insane battery life and teh fastest charging of any phone that there would be much call for a battery case.
Battery cases aren't really made to on all the time. Its just not feasible with how big and heavy the phone gets with them.
I would only use it when traveling. Get to the airport take my slim case off and throw on the battery case. That way I don't have to be like everyone else and look for a plug. Also external battery packs are much more inconvenient because you have to deal with an a cord. Easier to have something strapped onto the phone. On the plane I watch movies stored on my phone or listen to music while I sleep. Id leave the battery case on till i am about to land at my destination then just slip my slim case on and go about my day.
What about carrying a small power bank? You can get 1000mAh banks that aren't much bigger than a credit card and about 1/2" deep, then grab a 3" USB-C cable and toss them in your bag/pocket and off you go!
YES please! They are so handy for traveling... Once you had one you never want to go out without it anymore ?

A battery pack (the bigger the better) with Dash Charging would be more way more useful!
