Answer Phone with Voice Control - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a new Verizon LG Stylo 2v. I would like to be able to answer calls using voice only and put it on speaker phone. There is an app called "Voice Answer Free" and it worked fine on my Samsung Note 3 but I am unable to get it to work on the new LG phone.
It requires me to go to Settings - Sounds and Notifications - Notification Access and place a check mark next to the app name. On the Samsung it was very easy to do. On the LG Stylo 2v there is no "Notification Access" on the list in the same directory. I called Verizon support and they acted like they had never heard of this setting and had me call LG. They also had no idea what I was talking about and asked me to call Android. They did not know anything about it and told me to call Verizon.
The Samsung is on android 5.0 Lollipop and the LG is on android 6.0 Marshmallow so this difference may be the problem.
I just need to have the ability for my aunt to be able to answer her phone while it is on her lap without touching it, voice only.
Any help would be much appreciated.

[SOLVED]Incoming diverted call notification

I'd like to bring again into attention this lack of functionality of both Android and WinMo devices.
As far as I know, with the exception of Nokia and some Sony-Ericson devices, no others notify about receiving a call made on a diverted phone.
That is, if I have 2 numbers (A and B) and A is diverted to B, if I receive a call on A I don't see a "diverted" icon (or sign of any kind) on the phone with number B.
Still no solution or software for this?
P.S. Also when you call somebody and you are waiting on line (the other party has "call waiting" activated), there is no "waiting" sign to notify you.
This call waiting issue is also present on iPhone. I don't understand why these two functions are not present in smartphones (except Nokia Symbian) and at the same time the cheapest dumb phones have them
Actually, call waiting works for me. Whenever I am on a call and someone else calls, I hear a beep and I can see on the screen that I have another call. If I don't answer, the other call stays in my call history as an unanswered call.
About the first issue, I wondered about that too. I had a really dumb Sony Ericsson phone which supported this feature.
P.S. I misread your call waiting issue... Whenever I call someone who has call waiting I get a beep that tells me I am waiting... However, as far as I know this is an operator feature. On another operator a voice actually tells you to wait because the other party is talking.

I didn't switch to another operator, I just switched from Nokia E66 to iPhone and later to Legend when I lost that feature.
i get another issu too !!
and am sure you all get it ..
in (smart) dumb phones when i call my manager (and my manager is already talking in a call with his wife for example) it gives me different call sound tone, to notify me he is in a call so i stop calling and wait to call again later ...
in (stupid) smart phones, Windows Mobile and Legend !
if i call my manager and he is already in a call, i never hear anything to notify me! so i dont stop my call , and it really seems so stupid and disturbing from me sometimes !
the reason is what ?
i dont really know ....
is it that much hard to put these simple options ?
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=11026
... suggests that the functionality is within the stock Android dialler, but not in the HTC dialler. Use a ROM that allows you to install the standard dialler and use that by default?

I was talking about "call waiting" notification when you are calling someone that has call waiting function, not when you are the one that is called and you're notified about a second incoming call. biomy explained better the idea that I was talking about.
And no, there is not about the operator. You can have a nokia on any carrier, it'll work the same. It's just the way the phone or it's software decodes the incoming call signal. As this is received by all phones the same, I presume any phone/software can decode it in the same way nokia is doing if it has this implemented. As far as I know though, there is no application on the market (paid or free) that does this simple thing. I'm sure most of us will even pay for it.
Same here.. All calls from my boss diverted to my number if he didn`t pick up phone in 10 seconds.. My old Nokia 6233 show green arrow for diverted calls, but no any notification about it with my Samsug Galaxy Spica and Samsung Galaxy S.

Any updates on this please?
I have the same issue. No diverted call icon when an incoming call which has been diverted comes through
No update...seems like nobody has found a solution to it. Still waiting, pity we don't have such thing
Maybe we're not so many that needs this, in order for someone to start looking and develop something. My hope is that a developer will need this feature at some time and he'll start doing it. (or we should find a Nokia with Android )
If some android phones have the diverted call notification (galaxy s on 2.1) can the code be ported to other devices?
I divert calls from my work phone to my personal mobile, and really need to be able to tell when I'm receiving a diverted call from my work number
Samsung is the second phone brand that includes this in all or most of their phones. Doesn't matter if it's Android or not, Nokia and Samsung has this feature (and as I know they're the only ones to do it).
Maybe there is hope if an Samsung Android phone (Galaxy S) has it...maybe there will be a developer that will try to find a way or reverse engineer the ROM to find the code for it. I am willing to pay for it for sure and I'm sure some other will as well.
Diverted Call Display app for Android
After the issue bothered me enough, I have made an attempt at detecting incoming diverted calls.
The app is using the device log to find out if an incoming call is diverted, and thus needs READ_LOGS permission. READ_PHONE_STATE is needed to get notified about incoming calls.
So far the app has been tested on CyanogenMod 5 and 7 on GSM/UMTS phones. It probably won't work at all on CDMA devices and neither on devices which already implement any type of diverted call notification.
Please test if it works for you and tell me your Android firmware version (and if it's an AOSP-based community firmware).
Nexus S 3G i9023, CM7.1.0-NS - works well )) Thank you.
Xperia Arc 2.3.4 original rom OK.
I would like to be saved in the call log.
It works perfect in HD2, HyperDroid-CM7-v5.3.0 [CyanogenMod7 LEO 2.3.7][seader_R9].
Thanks
That's a great thing, you've made...alot of people happy.
Unfortunately, I've changed my Legend and replaced it with a Desire S. Playing with other ROMs, I've finally installed a MIUI ROM and it seems this "diverted notification" IS integrated in MIUI. So for me the problem was solved by having a MIUI ROM. Though I'll ask my friend who's now the owner of my ex Legend to test this...he's still using CM 7.1 on it.
Works fine on Motorola Defy with MIUI 2.3.5.
Thank You very much Ge0rG for such a beautiful solution of that problem.
Can you please add to your application notification for "call waiting" and "on hold"?
Because Motorola's and HTC's doesnt have this features.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
P.S. I was talking about "call waiting" notification, when you are calling someone that has call waiting function & you call him on the second line.
Brilliant... Works a treat for me...
HTC Desire HD - Stock (Orange UK) ROM.
Android 2.3.3
Kernel 2.6.55.10
Thanks - brilliant idea and well implemented - congratulations.

Works on Nexus One with actual cyanogenmod nightly (cm_passion_full-253, 7.2.0-RC0(?)). Perfekt!
It will be great, if this could be included in cyanogenmod directly.

[Q] New Google Search and BT Dialing Problem

Prior to the latest update to Google Search 3.5.16.1262550 a couple weeks ago, I used to be able to do a long press on my BT headset to bring up Google Now, which let me say, "Call Joe Blow home" and it would make the call to his home number. Now it brings up Google Dial which tells me to say "Call someone" but pops up with a numbered list of the cell, home, and work numbers on the screen that I either have to touch to choose the one I want, or say, "Select Two" to dial his home number. This requires that I either touch or look at the screen to make a call, which totally defeats the purpose of "hands-free" calling.
I have switched back to S-Voice for now, which I hate because she talks too much before I can actually make a call, but at least I don't have to dig my phone out to push or see which phone I want to call. I hope someone can help us get back to BT dialing the way it used to be.
This is on a Sprint Galaxy Note 3 running KitKat, but I imagine this is affecting all phones.
Yes I have a note 3 kitkat and Google search issue is affecting my phone as well. Instead of Google now voice prompt when pressing headset hard button on my LG bluetooth headset....Goople dial is not default which sucks!
Bump! Surely someone must use Bluetooth dialing from a headset and noticed this major change besides the two of us. Please help if you have any ideas to revert Google Search to work the way it used to.
Bump again! Doesn't anyone else use their Bluetooth headset to initiate calls?
I think I have finally found an acceptable workaround using Bluetooth Launch from the Play Store. Install the app and follow the directions as described in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794883
Step one shouldn't be needed as when you long press, it will detect the new app and let you select Bluetooth Launch as the default.

[Q] [REQ] Best Voice Call Accept/Reject App for LG G Stylo LP 5.1.1

I'm just looking for a simple app that will enable this feature, I was trying Smart Call Accept it worked but it annoyingly stopped the phone from ringing 3 seconds into the call...
I just want a simple app like that that will allow me to accept calls by saying "Hello" or whatever, tried Utter it had the option but didn't work and was toooo feature rich, I rarely and barely ever used S Voice so why would I need another like that that I'd hardly fully use.
Anybody got any suggestions, I'm doing this to get rid of the swipe to accept incoming calls on this phone, if it had the tap accept/reject button feature I wouldn't even be looking for a app to do what I'm asking now.
Thanks

LG G3 cant use phone for dialing services

well as thread title says LG G3 cant use phone for dialing services.
This problem has been there since I got the phone in May.
What happens is when I need to press my dial-pad to enter tones to access a service menu like press 1 to get that action completed it does not recognize it.
One thing about this phone is its a FreedomPop phone and I believe it somehow casing the problem using there phone app but there new to me as a provider as my last phone was a Galaxy S3 from boost mobile.
Let me post this now for comments and feedback TIA!
I found a way to get this working finally!!!

Call & text on other devices not always working

For some reason the call and text on my Tab S7+ and S10+ isn't always working. When I make a call using the Tab S7+ I see a message saying "No network connection" but on my S10+ the call is being made but hangs up because it could not transfer to the tablet. I can't get any incoming calls either but get a missed call notification after they hang up. I cleared the cache and data on both the phone app and call & text app and it worked for a day. Now not even clearing the cache and data works. I don't know what the issue could be. Anyone have these issues?
I have the sprint version of the Tab s7. There’s no option to turn on calls and text from other devices. It came with a messenger app but no dialer. I’m confused. Am I unable to make Calls. I have the note 10+
That's another strange issue. Does Spring allow this service? I read that some providers in the US don't support this feature. I'm still having issue getting it to work 100%. I even cleared the cache partition on my phone thinking there might be something in there that is corrupt. Funny thing is sometimes I make a call on my Tab S7+ and get the no network connection but after a minute or two my phone stays its making a call from the Tab S7+. So there is a delay for some reason. Could this be something with the Samsung servers?

They said Verizon and ATT doesn't have the feature. I dont even have a phone dialer. Sprint told me to contact Samsung. Samsung said its sprint.
What I don't understand is why does it matter what service provider you have. From my understanding this feature works like this; (1) I make a call on my tablet (2) it goes through my home wi-fi to Samsung's server (3) Samsung server sends the number to my phone and initiates the call.
So why would the service provider care or even know if I directly make the call from my phone or it gets remotely dialed by Samsung.

Well I had a chat with Sprint again and they said the service has been disabled on all their tablets. I would have to download a 3rd party app to make calls. It does have a mess
Disabled on the T-Mobile S7+ as well. Went in through ADB and could not find the packages for this anywhere. Samsung said in marketing this tablet that it was not available on the Plus at launch, but that was the fine print. Just above that it said it was available, period. Hoping it shows up with the Android 11 update, whenever that shows up.

Sprint told me that they will no longer support making calls from the tablet. Apple tablets are still able to do this. I'm so angry about this. I've downloaded a phone app and now I have to use a new number with it... I hate it

It works with AT&T if you use an unlocked (XAA) phone.
AT&T only blocks it on the carrier version.
I have a Note 20 Ultra that was an AT&T carrier phone. I changed CSC to XAA and loaded U1 firmware and Call and Text on other devices is now available and working be tween my Tab S7 and my Note 20 Ultra.
Also, the calls do not get routed through Samsung. The link between the two devices is authenticated via Samsung, but the hand off is local (peer to peer) via your Wi-Fi connection.
Since you were able to get call and text on other devices working by changing firmware, did you loose the ability to make wifi calls? I have a S10 (AT&T carrier version) that I would like to keep the wifi-calling and also enable the call and text on other devices feature. Any suggestions?
