Jamflux, Pocarropa, and MrRaines (MrTomatico on en.miui), creators of Épic ROM, we are glad to present Épic ROM for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, who was born thanks to the hard work of these guys. Epic ROM is a Custom ROM based on MIUI, but with some mods and improvements that you can see below on features chapter.
The focus of this ROM is improve MIUI official stock on many devices making many mods and improve Xiaomi sellers to get a bigger MIUI-ers family! This is not MIUI DEVICE TEAM Rom, this is an EPIC TEAM ROM who was born on HTCMANIA (spanish forum) one year ago! .

How to install
Download ZIP from below.
[*] Reboot to recovery (Press Power + Volume up)
[*] Make a full backup of your current ROM and copy it to your computer to prevent issues.
[*] Wipe: Dalvik, Cache, Data, System.
[*] Install ZIP Rom.
**IMPORTANT ADVISE: Sometines TWRP have issues installing .zip and you might get Error 7. If this happens, please reinstall the ROM. In the second try, TWRP will install without problem. If you still having the issue, download the ROM again (sometimes servers download a corrupt .zip file...).
[*] **IMPORTANT ADVISE 2: On first boot, you will get one bootloop, THAT'S NORMAL, this is caused by ROOT installation. Please, do not interrupt process and look how your device turns ON in 10-15 minutes. Next time you reboot or Power on your device, it will turn ON like always .
Reboot system and wait 10 minutes until your device loads the system (only first time)

Is there any way to temporarily uninstall root? I need to install Snapchat but it refuses to login with root activated.

You should ask for permission to unlock bootloader now so when the phone arrive you don't have to wait.
First full day on this ROM and very happy with it. Battery is at 36% after a full day of usage. Better or similar to the global dev I had running before. I'm running Xposed as well. Everything works. I just wish I could kill the startup screen with the barcode and MIUI character...

Try downloading a new theme , I am running Nightshade which is a dark stock android theme and it has a stock type boot animation

Hello, i wanted to try your rom but the installation process canceled after few seconds without any Error message. The phone just reboot.
I have a stock rom miui global 8.0.5.0
Phone is unlocked, TWRP 3.0.2.0
I had the some problem with the weekly rom from xiaomi.eu

If you read the complete description before proceding with install, you would understand your problem now. Read the instructions again.
major issue today with the rom: phone screen would stay black and can't be woken up through fingerprint or power button. Happened to me twice today. Only way I could fix it was through restarting. I knew the phone was still on because music kept playing through BT in my car. I wonder if it has something to do with me disabling the "fingerprint to lock" feature of the epic rom. I'll switch back to the global dev rom right now to see if that fixes the issue.

Was that because you @ekin_strops also disabled the Fingerprint lock with the provided zip?
I have to admit the Fingerprint lock is the only thing I don't like about this ROM as anytime you touch the Fingerprint scanner with any finger & regardless of whether it is registered or not it powers off the screen.
It's a silly mod IMO, If it were a registered finger (say index finger) I would understand the implementation.
i just installed this ROM:
- i used ZCX twrp recovery, there's a problem regarding to decrypt data (password prompt when entering twrp), solution: try to format the phone using fastboot cmd
- installation is smooth no any weird thing happen
- battery is improved, i've been using titanium backup for restoring and others including running antutu the battery is still 80%
- bug i found so far is only one which is the phone screen will off when you touch the fingerprint sensor, this is abnormal because fingerprint should turn on the screen not contrary

I can't seem to get this to boot. Did you just use the normal flashing instructions for any other May Pixel ROM?
First I am still on April bootloader.
Never flashed may stock.
Always flashing like this:
Boot to twrp
Wipe factory reset
Advanced wipe cache and system
In twrp reboot
Reboot to the not active slot
There will be a error message that you don't have system installed
Hold vol- and reboot
You are going straight to bootloader on the not active slot
Reboot from there to recovery twrp
In twrp flash rom and twrp
Hold vol- and reboot
From bootloader reboot recovery twrp
In twrp flash image O vendor as vendor
Then flash gapps. I used beans

Why are you holding down volume and rebooting?
Just go to the reboot menu and select recovery, you reboot into recovery..
Im confused
Sometimes it doesn't worked for me. Don't know why.
So I got used to it.
And I didn't mentioned it because I think it's not necessary anymore.
I still Wipe 3 times because I am used to it from years before with clockwork

You have to enable Immersive Mode on the quick settings toolbar.

It's actually a quick toggle up in the notification bar. Just turn on immersive mode and it should enable.

Flash beans gapps from last month. Someone else said that worked. Or if you want to wait I will be flashing this rom here shortly with the mentioned gapps. I can report back

Beans gapps camera works fine
I have installed beans gapps. Can't sign in with my google account, having an error for Cannot connect with Google servers. Some people suggested 2 step verification was the problem. Turned it off and cleared the data for google apps. Still can't connect. Any suggestions ?

I have tried it in the XZ1, i flashed the latest firmware, ending in 145, formated data twice, mounted the storage in recovery, copied the 2 files, tried flashing the zip, it failed with error 7, i have modifed the updater script, because the model was maple, and not poplar, flashed ok, booted ok, with the pixel notification, when i tried setting it up, there was no keyboard to input the password to my wifi network, removed the password, tried again but the setup fails, it says google play services stopped, and does not go forward. I ve tried flashing open gapps, but still no luck.

I'm giving it error 7, the idea is that I found on youtube several things that were about to unpack the zip to look for a script and delete something from the script, all those videos in the script show something else to be deleted from the script, I tried to I delete something, the first row with "assert" but gave me error6 .... maybe I did not delete what need to work, maybe not have all the row deleted ... Sounds like the included GApps are not flashing right. Since Chrome is removed am i forcing a WebView install besides the Google Keyboard, Pixel Launcher and so on. It should all be there and working without further Edits or Tricks. I checked also the Updater Script and i really missed to remove the Device Checks before uploading. I will upload fixed Versions as soon as i can. Until that please check out if something was wrong while flashing and provide Logs from TWRP if possible (Got to Advanced, Copy Log after flashing).
Looking forward to give You a working Stock Patch! Think we can handle that

I'm looking forward to solving the next update, these are the problems, the problem with the error7 which is solved by zip unpacking and "maple" with "popolar" and this problem can not be done because you can not synchronize with google and it remains in black screen after trying to search for updates, I tried to flash Pico Package for Google Package Installer and Google Play services but it does not work,same problem and the stockpackage is got bootloap probably because google installed Ventor, I'm waiting for you to solve these problems, is overtake me ... thank you

@followmsi took down his Omni6 TWRP and advised us to use the new official 3.3.1-0 from the TWRP website - yours seems older, so which is better?
Does crDroid Q have all the great options already that Pie had? And do we have to flash any firmware/vendor or can we simply clean flash from any existing Pie rom?

For a ROM to be called OFFICIAL, the developer needs to build the ROM from source and provide regular weekly updatesand has to stick to the guidelines the developer team have setup.
Like for example LineageOS, the dev can't include a hack or work-around for some bugs in the ROM with a certain device.
For example with the Redmi Note 3, while there was a mod present to fix the flashlight issue, the dev himself couldn't include it in the ROM as it didn't comply with the LineageOS guidelines.
Every developer community, for e.g., LineageOS, RR, DU, OmniRom, AICP, MOKEE,......., have there own guidelines.

I had no problem installing Open_gapps-arm64-10.0-nano-20191006-BETA.zip an was able to setup the tablet without any errors.
Didn't do the SAR thing as I don't need root, as I use the tablet for browsing and watching streams

I flashed it directly with a full wipe, my previous rom was Bootleggers ROM 4.3 Pie and didn't incounter any problems.
It has allot of options just like the pie version, don't know if they are all there but there is enough to choose from.

I don't need root but I tried it for you.
I just tried to install magisk in the normal way and it didn't give any errors.
After it I tested to see if it past safety net and it did.
After that I installed adaway and that requested root like normally and I gave it access.
But when it tried to install the host files it failed.
When I try to read the buildprob with a root file explorer, that works like normally after granting rood.
So maybe adaway needs the sar method, or it doesn't work with android 10 yet.

Go into Adaway's settings and select systemless, then it works fine.
I flashed crDroid earlier and for a 1st build it looks pretty good. It has some of crDroid's options, but not all of them. For example no option for smartbar under navigation and no way to modify recents to have the rambar or at least the clear all button. I installed a couple of launchers (Lawnchair, Hyperion + OPLauncher2) to use with Quickswitch in an attempt to get different recents, but Quickswitch complained with all 3 of them that this version wasn't supported
Settings crash when trying to change the hardware button layout - I wanted to put Screenshot on long-press since there's no smartbar, but Settings wasn't having any of it
Oh and an oddity: When I plug the device in to charge the screen lights up like it should ... but if I simply walk away it will go dark after the 30 seconds timeout and then light up again, rinse + repeat. I had to actually turn off the screen with the power button to get it to stay off while charging ... I've never seen THAT before, so no idea what's causing it.
@Valera1978 - your link behind "For now i'm using gapps from" in the OP doesn't work, maybe you can fix it?
Wake-on-Home works, Volume wake didn't and then it did but that's the same behaviour we had on some Pie roms already.
That's it for now ... not sure if I'll stay on this one or go back to my Pie rom, but it's definitely usable already - thank you @Valera1978 :good:

Thanks that did the trick with adaway, but the setting doesn't stick.
Not a big problem just have to set it again when I want to update.
I can confirm the settings crashing when you try to change the buttons.
I just used my charger but I didn't notice the light going on and off.

Thanks for pointing that out about Adaway, I hadn't noticed - but yes, it does it here too and for some odd reason adblocking was disabled again after a reboot.
I tried it a few times now - if I turn on the screen and then let the device sit there, the screen will go off after the selected timeout (30 seconds here), but then the screen will come back on after a second or 2. Then it goes off again after 30 seconds and comes right back on. This will keep going indefinitely unless I turn the screen off manually with the power button. Plus I just noticed that it isn't only when charging but all the time ... very odd, like something is waking the screen again right after it goes off. I definitely didn't have that on my previous Pie rom and my phone with crDroid Pie also doesn't do it. I'm stumped
Edit: I think I found the culprit that keep waking up my screen :victory:
On the tablet I use a free SIM card with free monthly data that's sponsored by advertisements. It has it's own lockscreen which doesn't even show up here on Q but did on Pie. If I "freeze" that app with TiBu my screen turns off as it should - but without that app installed I won't get my free data each month.
No idea if this is a Q issue or a crDroid one, but something must be blocking the app lockscreen and causing this odd behaviour. I'll have to see if I still get my free data allowance when the app is installed but not using it's lockscreen ... otherwise I'm going back to Pie. :fingers-crossed:

I would try:
- install the official TWRP page(Link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80692007&postcount=672)
- save all my data
- wipe all partitons
- reboot into TWRP
- format (not WIPE!!) /data partition
- reboot into TWRP
- install only rom and boot
If rom boots normal, thenn install gapps...
installing the rom only cleanly starts works but when I want to add the gapps remains stuck on the logo cr droid
Why ?

How to flash?
From any ROM, including OOS:
- Grab the latest latest Rom by going to the official Website (https://download.pixelexperience.org/guacamoleb).
- Grab the latest OOS release, OB13 as of writing (OB14 firmware has a bugged fingerprint)
- Grab TWRP (prefer the unofficial variant) from here
- Grab adb platform tools from here
- Extract it, add the folder to PATH, if you donno how to add something to PATH,
Windows: check this
Mac & Linux: export PATH="whatever-is-the-path-to-your-adb-folder:$PATH"
- Ensure you have backed up your data and/or you are already unlocked.
- Ensure OEM Unlocking is turned on.
- Boot your phone into fastboot. It would a show "START" with some details about your phone.
- Connect your phone to the PC with the USB-C cable, and see if its recognised when you type

- If it does, just type

fastboot oem unlock
- You would get a prompt on your phone, that if you are sure to unlock the bootloader. If sure, navigate with the volume buttons and hit a yes.
- If your unlock succeeds, your phone will wipe itself, and boot back into OOS.
- Reboot it again to fastboot and connect your phone to the PC.
- Now open up the command prompt, and check if

shows up a connected device.
- Issue these commands on your command prompt

fastboot boot path-to-your-img-file
- Once this is done, TWRP should welcome you with warm greetings.
- Just, go ahead to the wipe section of twrp and press format data and type yes.
- Once you are done with the format data, just go ahead and connect your phone to PC.
- If you need f2fs for data partition, go again to the wipe section and manage/repair partitions, select data, and change it to f2fs.
- You might need to reboot, and go back to fastboot, and boot into twrp.
- Now transfer the ROM zip and OOS zip to the internal storage
- Go to twrp, locate your OOS zip, flash it.
- Similarly, locate your ROM zip, and swipe to flash it.
- Once you are done, reboot and you should be on PE.

Plus build has a bit more features than the normal edition. Even yet you cant expect something like Havoc to pop-up, its a few customisations alone we added there.

Hi! I've tried many custom roms for the OP7, but they all have issues with wifi connection (cannot connect to 5gHz; frequent drops on 2.4gHz). Does this rom have this issue? Also, may I ask if ''ok google'' with screen off is supported, like stock OOS? Thank you.

I have tried many custom roms and on every rom the common issue is the automatic brightness.
can confirm, Fingerprint not working on ob13 with PE plus edition.
On adding fingerprint at installation or later via setting, Screen flashes every time you put your finger over the scanning area, but there is no progress bar to indicate whether it is working or not.

But it is strange that we heard nothing from dev.
I hope Fod will be fixed soon .
And of course if dev need tester . I am in for good.??
Still a lot of problems apart from the non working fp.
Current issues :
1) erratic auto brightness ( alternating between dim and bright in every 3-4 seconds )
2) trouble with the data connection ( not getting any network from sim1 after a while, switching data sim or restarting device did not having any effect , had to manually switch the sims from their slots.
3) yet to make a detailed observation but battery life seems to be far less than oos

1. Finger print not working ( used oxygen is 10.3.3 stable and Open beta 13)
2. Screen auto brightness not stable

what? which one are u referring to? if the rom, no, there's no point on flashing the ported rom if you guys already have the official one. second, if u are referring to the recovery, it's also a no since it's specifically built for redmi 9c and its identical models such as the nfc one and cattail.
redmi 9a has miui 12.5 already for global, indo, and china users. China users have the enchanced edition

try flash this port with any recovery as you like. If it just reboots to recovery right after flashing, format the data or do a factory reset that involves encryption.
I have installed it and I think it is smooth enough to use as a daily driver. I however cannot update system apps because the System Updater and GetApps are not launching. App Vault is also not working.

For app vault, you can just update it via sideloading. I think the reason why the System Updater and GetApps force closes because the devs removed a lot of "unnecessary" stuff

Tried sideloading but still no app launch. It's okay though since we will get the update within the next two months possibly?

It looks like Xiaomi is not giving us MIUI 12.5 anytime soon so the Russian community from 4pda decided to port MIUI 12.5 CN directly from Redmi 9A. FLASHING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Boot to recovery (TWRP 3.5 is preferred, check the comments)

4. Reboot

It has been also confirmed that this port works with both Redmi 9C and Redmi 9C NFC models so don't worry.

so far so good, only several features arent working such as the getapps chinese market, xiaomi scanner (can be fixed with a sideload), etc. Sometimes you might encounter lags but i have encountered no issues with the telephony. Been using it for a couple of weeks now.

I think so, but do you know what makes 9A so special? It has a Chinese firmware, unlike 9C.

I flashed it after rebooting my device is stuck at logo
First i formatted phone in recovery after that i wiped cache dalvik cache and data then flashed this port now my phone is stuck at logo
Please tell me where I was wrong?
