Huawei EMUI icons with & without borders - Huawei P9 Plus Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi, Personally i like the EMUI interface since EMUI 3.0. resently i bought 1 Huawei P9 Plus & 2 Huawei P9 Lite. when i bought those 3 smartphones all icons had unifed look of home screen by placing them on rounded rectangles or squares-in circles ("squircles"). But now only EMUI icons are rounded rectangles or squares-in circles third party apps have like nexus icons, Now all icons are not unified form.
I want to get back unified icons for all apps like before or just like on iOS. i did contact few times huawei they opened a case for this but they need more people who want the same thing as me.
So i know their so many peoples who wants original icons without borders around on all third party apps icons. so that's why my suggestion to Huawei was to implement an option where we can eassly activate or deactivate borders on tird party apps icons or to propose us two different type of themes pre installed on smartphone.
Please signe to this petition with me & let Huawei & me know your opinion via comments.

Looking for a Widgetlocker alternative for Android 6/7 -> Widgets on lockscreen

Today I decided to pimp my phone by putting a specific widget on the lockscreen. Earlier in days of Android 4.0 to 4.4 I used TeslaCoils Widgetlocker for this purpose. But I discovered various issues with it on my Honor 7, which makes it unusable for me. Since it's last update was rolled out in 2013, I think it has to do with the android version. So I'm looking for an alternative lockscreen which provides these features:
Possibility of adding, scaling, moving and locking widgets on the lockscreen
Fingerprint support
Clean design / possibility to remove everything unnecessary (I basically want it to show my widget in the middle top part of the screen and a small digital clock in the bottom left corner, nothing else)
I hope you can help me I'm looking forward to any helpful hints.
Cheers!

Why are some icons squared and others round

I'm new to Huawei as I recently switched from an iPhone to the Huawei mate 20 pro and I'd like to know why some icons are circles and the others are rounded squares and if there's a solution to it. personally would like my icons to be rounded squares as I'm used to have in the iPhone but in this new phone, circles and squares get mixed and creates this ugly homescreen that I have to see everyday.
I've looked into some icon packs and they usually involve installing a launcher, which I do not want, because I've heard they decrease performance, and then most of them have some bugged icons or are too different from the original ones and are ugly.
So, I am no phone expert but I don't see a solution to keep the Huawei home launcher and have uniform icons. If you have any, id be grateful if you could please let me know.
Some icons are huawei system icons, others are developer icons like Google messages or 3rd party apps
The best way install icon pack, best using Nova launcher or another 3rd party launcher with icon customisation.

Hi, I had a same problem with the different shape of icons and I tried some themes from Play Store and I can recommended you themes from Aurel. Every theme has a same shape (circles or rounded squares).
Themes can be a good way around it.
Don't be too quick to dismiss using launchers and icon packs though. Later firmware versions have fixed a lot of the issues people were having with third party launchers and gestures for example. Performance isn't really affected by a good launcher.

This! I've never ever used launchers on my Android phones for the past 5 years or so however I'm in love with Nova prime on the mate! Do your self a favor and buy the Nova prime and customize it your way. I love how my screen looks now, everything is uniform and organized. Also the mate is a powerful beast. If ****ty phones can run Nova, don't you think the mate, having one of the most powerful processors out there, can handle Nova with breeze. Also I've not seen any battery impact whatsoever. In 24 hours of use, with 8 hours of screen on time, Nova only used about 20 minutes worth of CPU, which is nothing.

Custom Notification Bar Icons Help

It might sound silly but I actually one of those guys who pay attention to small details in making my experience using this budget phone feels like extraordinary. Some icons on the notification bar are just dull like the battery icon. The looks is just not for me especially after looking the one in iPhone 11. My main goal for now is just to change that alone, but if there's an app that offers more customization for other icons, I will gladly take them. I tried googling it and found about Xposed framework. I tried downloading the apk and installed it. It says that it needs framework or something like that. I uninstalled it and go to Magisk and try to download it from there from the Modules tab. I found it and tried to install it. It gave me an error. Tried it three times. Apparently it's not going to work on Android other than from 5.0 to 8. Now I don't know where else to look since that one was the only one looking promising.
There used to be beautiful themes for POCO when it was on MIUI 10. For example I used to use one called PixPie Dark. It gave me new battery icon, lock screen animations, new navigation bar etc.
Now that we are on MIUI 11 the old themes are not compatible. And newer ones have not been made (yet) which have all the customizations.
I absolutely hate the MIUI 11 default icons. They look outdated.
Anyway here's my desktop setup.

Nice....
Does the wallpaper change as per time?
What theme is it? And what's the battery please?
Sent from my POCO F1 using Tapatalk
No, I'm sorry the wallpaper doesn't change according to time. It's just a wallpaper I selected from the MIUI gallery.
Theme is stock Poco theme with Nova Launcher Prime (Paid) and icon pack is Thin Icon Pack (Paid).

I've rooted my phone and installed custom ROM (Pixel Exp). I don't have access to MIUI theme (not that I even want to because it will not allow you to use third party theme. I wonder if there's a third party app that will allow me to change the notification bar especially the battery icon. I tried Xposed framework but it didn't work because it is not compatible with Android 8.0 above.

Win-X Launcher (NO ADS)

I've been using this launcher for about a month or so now, and I REALLY love it!! If anyone else likes Windows 10 inspired launchers, this is the best one I've found. It is very true to the name. It looks and operates like Windows 10. There are absolutely NO ADS, or in-app purchases. It has a lot of features, with more on the way. The developers are very friendly, and prompt with their responses. Third party icon pack support is included as well, so you can have the layout you want.
Here's a play store link to the app in case anyone wants to try it out. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.InternityLabs.Launcher.WinX
I have added screen shots showing the home screen and various windows for functions, and options. This launcher does support live wallpapers, I tested that out as well. The live wallpaper I used is about 10 years old, and there were no errors or interruptions to my regular everyday usage. I spend a lot of time on my phone changing my layout and themes, and this works perfectly for that.
Items that have been moved to the recycle bin can be deleted directly from there. There is also a screen shot showing apps that have been hidden from the app drawer. You can resize the app drawer as well.
Changed my theme

Question How to tidy up this messy apps icons easily

Hi,
I had an honor 20 before and recently bought a oneplus nord2, which is a great phone.
But after importing all the apps I had on my old phone, I have tons of icons to sort, put in folders, etc...
With my honor 20, I could select multiple icons and move them at the same time, it doesn't seem possible with this phone, I have to move each icon one by one, what a pain in the ...
Did I miss something?
I also cannot select the home screen and I cannot move the pages between them.
Thank you
The stock launcher is a bit limited in some usages , personally I use Nova Launcher in my Nord 2 and it's far better than the OnePlus stock launcher
