Redmi Note 4 Motherboard replacement. - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

Hi to all! Does anybody know, where could i order a new board where the micro usb is located? My phone was swiming before few days, i opened it, and cleaned, everything is working fine, except the micro usb. The PC won't recognize the phone, anymore. By the way, the phone is charging the phone properly. OTG also doesn't work anymore. P.S. The order would be to Europe, Germany. Thanks!

Have you had a look on AliExpress? that would be my go-to.
Also there is a thread on here with 2 guy's that had battery issues that couldn't resolve, maybe you can PM them & they may post too you?

If charging is working and OTG/PC isn't, it means that something is wrong in the data-pins of the micro-usb connection. Can you open it again and observe carefully all the 5 pins of micro-usb female connection and the back-side of it. There should be no shorts and no breaks. May be clean that part carefully. As last resort, order from Aliexpress.

SPV-C550 (car)charger problem

I have a problem with my C550, I hope someone can help me:
A carcharger won't charge my phone. It senses the cable (screen goes from black to lit) but it won't charge. I use a motorola USB-charger, which worked on my SPV-M600.
I have the same problem with my PPC Techs Lil Sync USB AA Battery Adaptor I use on my bike.
The phone also won't charge on a PC without the proper software (active-sync?) installed.
I suspect it to be a software-issue in WM2003SE, maybe a registry-setting?
I have considered an update to WM6, but in that case I would like to backup the original rom that the phone now has, so I can revert to it. Can someone give me a link to a howto, or explain how to do this?
charger from motorola doesn't work with c550. i bought motorola charger to and it doesn't work.
I found an interesting message on spv-developers. The only thing then is how to do this. Pin 4 is not connected, so you can't connect line 4 and line 5 by cutting the cable and joining the two lines. Buying the C500/C550 car charger solves my problem partly because my lil sync remains....
I have solved the problem. I have bent pin 4 on my phone so it connects to the outer shell of the mini-usb-port (=ground). Now it charges off everything I feed to it.

Hi,
is that pin 4 as in the official pin 4 from the mini-usb pinouts so thats the far right if looking at the mini usb port with the phone facing down?
or do you just mean pin 4 counting from the left?

Atrix Charger - 5 pin or 4 pin Micro USB?

Hi guys,
here in NZ we dont get many accessories available, actually none at all for the atrix.
Does the Atrix require a 5 pin micro usb or a 4 pin micro usb charger?? My old original charger broke and my phone will not charge with any of the other micro usb cables i have lying around, so i figured I have to get another original or something similar to it.
Any ideas?
And any online store recommendations?

its a 4 pin..5 pin w/ pin 1 and 4 live makes it a factory cable..
is your phone completely dead? if so it likely will require you plugging it into the wall first...

So this means I need to buy a 4 pin micro usb right??? Any ideas from where..
Also, my phone is not completely dead, i turned it off at 10%. I cant charge because, my charger / usb cable ripped and broke and the pin head.

I have exactly the same problem. My cable seems to be died so I need a new one but I didn't understand the response of the #2 post.
Do I need a 5 pin cable or a 4 pin one??
I already have had a second cable but it charges my phone too slowly.
Do I need a specific type of cable in order to charge my device in normal time?
Thanks for your help.
Any microUSB cable will do, so long as it's not too thin (I've had issues with some Samsung chargers, I assume they just weren't able to push enough current through the wire). The number of pins is irrelevant really as far as normal charging goes.

So why the old cable I have, charges the device too slowly? I am afraid of buying a new cable that would have the same behaviour.
I'm not sure. I'm kinda tempted to think there might be something wrong with the phone, but I have no solid proof or anything.
Can you borrow a compatible cable from a friend?
depends on what you're plugging it into to charge it. The charger itself is more than just a "wall wart", there's circuitry in there that allows the phone to identify that it's a charger and that it's OK to draw more current than the normal USB spec allows as a USB controller usually has over-current protection.
So does anybody know where you can get 10 to 15 feet, 4-pin Micro USB cables (preferably with good build quality) for cheap? I looked at Monoprice, and they sell excellent quality Gold-plated 15-foot Micro USB B-type 5-pin cables for ~ $2 USD + about $3 shipping. This includes a (honored) lifetime warranty. I live in the US, so preferably not out of country. (Especially Hong Kong, unless shipping speed is acceptable, meaning no DealXtreme unless it's the only choice.)
I'm not expecting that cheap, but still..who wouldn't want that deal?

how to find out if usb port is defect?

Hi guys,
I've just received a - what looks pretty brand-new - S2 here naked and without its back cover. It's branded.
I also own a rooted i9001 (S plus) with themes and stuff. Still works like a charm.
So the S2.... I am pretty sure I can use same usb cable from the S plus and also the charger (Samsung Travel adapter 5.0V=0,7A) that both are working fine with the S plus.
However, usb with the S2 PC isn't recognizing phone, no matter what I tried. Only connection possible is via Kies (only wifi) and not explorer
The charger isn't recognized by phone either. I'm not sure if the USB port is dead because JIG tool is working. The battery I have is some Chinese one with own charger. The I read the S2 needs more power.
Suggestions anyone?
Thanks.

But does it charge when connected to PC by USB?

What do you mean? The phone charges but with charge rates limited by PC USB port instead of AC wall plug? Or doesn't it charge at all with the charger?
Or: how do you mange to charge the phone?

Hi, thanks for looking into my prob.
No, it doesn't charge when connected to PC via USB. The charger doesn't work with phone directly, no.
I bought the replacement battery off ebay and with it came a battery charger (wall plug). So battery can be charged aside from phone.
Unfortunately, I don't have any friends with original S2 accessories to test.
But why does the Jig work (if the USB port were broke)?

The Jig does not use all pins of the USB connector. Basically the Jig is a 300k resistor connected to the GND (5) and ID(4) pin of the USB connector. The pins used for charging are GND(5) and VCC(1). A bold guess would be that the VCC pin of your phones USB connector does not work.
You should consider buying a replacement flex board on ebay. It is very cheap ($10 to $16 I believe) and you should manage to install it yourself.

There could be Two Reasons Your Device's Micro USB Port is Broken Something.
OR
Drivers are Corrupted. I recommend you to Connect Cable and Check if Kies Respond. If it Respond but Still don't Connect then Click on Troubleshooting. It must Work.
Hope i helped

Nope. Kies doesn't respond.
fxrb, thanks a bunch for the explanation!
I got the flex board off ebay already. There's a nice guide on youtube.
Ah, ok - you were quicker.

fxrb, thanks a bunch for the explanation! I will look into this flex board alternative. Is there anywhere further information? I got the phone pretty cheap so I'm willing to give it a try.

Further information about what exactly?
If you are looking for information about how to replace the flex print then youtube is your friend
Just to let you know. I got new usb board, exchanged old one (that was clearly water damaged) and the phone now works like a charm.
OT: I've also noticed this trend on Ebay for people to buy non-functioning or damaged S2s. From the guides on youtube I can see exactly why.
However, it's getting pretty ridiculous now that non-functioning S2s with broken screens fetch as much as € 200??!!! I mean, come on!

Still OT: I had the silly idea of buying a totally damaged S2 on ebay for a few Euros, just to extract the battery contacts for a test adapter: no way! The device got sold for € 156

[Q] Charger Not Working for Note

I've got 4 different car chargers that *used* to work for my Note. I know they worked, because I did quite a bit of work over the last year which required the use of the GPS on my phone. Each one is > 1A. However, recently they've all stopped working for my Note. I've tested them using a Galaxy S3 and a Desire HD, and the chargers appear to charge the other phones just fine.
I seem to have no problems with AC or the computer charger it however. I've also taken the same USB cable I've used on the AC/computer and plugged it in to 3 of my car chargers, still no luck. Any ideas?
Your charge port needs to be replaced. If you're still under warranty, get it replaced. Otherwise there is a guide around here to DIY replacement I think..
I think we need more info. Since the phone charges at home the first suggestion is not helpful. The port is fine or it wouldn't charge at home. What ROM are you using? Did you try flashing a different ROM to test the charger in car? What were the results?
get a toothpick and make sure the metal in the port isnt touching any metal , then try , these ports in samsung phones are cheap , my wp7 focus had this happen , if it doesnt work ,its easy to solder it back in place , just open it up and make sure the solder is correct!

The day after my post the AC charger stopped working with my phone as well. So after trying a couple more chargers, I took it into AT&T and got it replaced under warranty. However, since my wife and I both have the Galaxy Note, I may have to replace one in the future. Just in case someone needs it..

There's the video for replacing the usb port. Thanks for the help!

[Q] I9100 charge without usb port

Hi there,
I am looking for a way to charge my i9100 without using the usb port, as it is broken. I do know some phones have external charging pins hidden under the battery cover - my wife's Nexus S has those. Nonetheless I couldn't find them on my Galaxy S II. Anyone had some experience with this? I do know one can buy and replace the usb port together with the whole bottom circuit board, which would probably fix my problem. But I got the phone for free to use before buying a new one and I did not want to put any money into it

Hi namarath,
I have the same problem. The usb flex cable I bought to exchange the broken one was broken itself, which is common. As a solution I bought an external battery charger for just 5 Euro on Aliexpress. Works fine since I have two batteries. The indicator light switches from pink to blue when charged. Be warned that this light is bright like disco lights
Cheers

Buying a broken replacement USB port/board assembly is NOT common......buying the WRONG version of the board IS common....There are 4 different non interchangeable versions.
See this guide that I wrote for explanations.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2335961
But yes, I agree, an external charger and spare battery is a good option....I have done this for both my S2 and S5......

Hi keithross39,
Well, unfortunately in my case everything but loading the battery did work with the new flex cable which indeed had the same version number. So I was one of the few to pick a broken one But thanks for your work in that area!
Cheers
