Bluetooth 4.0 not working with Lineage OS 14.1 on XT1643 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just installed the Lineage OS released for Moto G4 Plus Athene from here
Phone Informations
* LineageOS version: 14.1
* Gapps version: 7.1 (released on 05 Feb 2017)
What you did:
* Wipe data: Y
* Upgrade from previous official cm build: N
* Restore with titanium backup: N
You're using (if yes write which one) :
* Task killer: N
* Phone cleaner / Battery enhancer apps : N
* Non-stock kernel: N
* Modified kernel settings N
* Other mods: N
Bug info: The phone has become incapable of detecting newer bluetooth devices (I have tested it on 3 separate Blutetooth 4.0 device), although it connected perfectly with older bluetooth devices.
P.S. I tried reporting the bug there as well, but I'm a low level member so could not.

Bluetooth not reconnecting
Same here, although my issue is that it doesn't reconnect to the devices just until I delete the current device, restart and pair again. Waiting for next build to try.

Remember that some thing are not open source to be used in custom roms. Also cm has always had bt issues and Los will as well. All that testing and your missing the most important and most basic. A logcat

In my case Bluetooth do connects, but no audio on speaker. Though WiFi disconnects 2-3 times a day, and never reconnects on its own. Need to manually reconnect.
Lineage os 14.1 build 20170320 cancro

Same problem with an LG G3 Beat jagnm. Bluetooth pairs OK, but then the audio is scrambled.
Lineage nightly build 20170315 jagnm
Too bad there is no way to report the bug

Same problem with my Xiaomi MI4, connected on my bluetooth speaker but no sound

is the bug still there? I want to switch frome MIUI to lineage and need Bluetooth 4.1!

Yes it continues and the developper didn't start the correction. If bluetooth is needed, stay on miui

Hey, I have the same issue on OnePlusOne with LOS v2017040424. I use running band app with BT 4.0 required. But the device only can be found in BT device scanner, not in app.

Hi, i solved all problems, disabling privacy guard. Now, it works fine

mine is already off. can you explain in more detail please? and exactly which probleam you had? bluetooth not connecting or connected but no audio.

I've managed to solve the issue on my Moto G4 by doing the following:
Go to Settings and select the search option (the magnifying glass in the top right). Search for Bluetooth and you should get an option that says 'Bluetooth Scanning'. Select this and on the next screen TURN OFF Bluetooth Scanning. Reboot the device and try pairing your Bluetooth device again.
Hope this helps!

Issue was somewhat solved but now it's back
An update which came couple weeks ago kind of solved this issue. I had to restart my phone everytime i want to connect it to Bluetooth speaker. But it was better than nothing but now the latest update brought back the issue

same on s7
Hello,
Running Lineage 14.1 on my s7, have seen this since my first install on 7-5-17.
Bluetooth connection and pairing works fine, media audio works fine, I can play music and hear my gps and other items of media through the headphones. Phone audio is distorted and I can't hear the other person, they can't hear me.
I would very much like this problem solved, it's kind of important for my work, I might have to go to a non-aosp rom, which I do not like touchwiz.
For reference my headset is a Philips SHB6250, it's audio range is between 8 and 22,000 hz.
Thanks.
Dave.

Bluetooth problems android 5.0

I started to get audio dropouts over blue tooth when I upgraded to 5.0. The dropout were quick just like a record skipping. I have tried on several different programs Spotify, google play, and internal phone audio. All were same result. Skipping audio. At first I thought it was the ROM I was on. So I went back to stock, and same issues. I also tried NU player and awesomeplayer in dev settings. Same result. I am pairing with a flexsmart x2. I have not tired any ASOP based roms so I suspect Samsung may be the culprit. Do you guys know if they changed any of the code in lolipop in bluetooth after kitkat? And perhaps did not make something backward compatible?
Let me know if you are on lollipop and having similar issues with note 3 sprint.
I'm having the same issue, I just thought it was my headset.

Anybody tried Rocket Player, and enabling "Double Buffer" under Settings -> Sound?
The only times I've had problems is when downloading over Wi-Fi and trying to use Bluetooth as well, since they seem to use the same subsystem.
I'm stock rooted 5.0, although I'm now two updates behind...
I've experienced this problem, but not to the severity of you. I think other factors may have influenced my issue. I regularly use a bluetooth headset and heart rate monitor and I don't experience many issues. Are you sure its not the bluetooth device at fault? You could possibly have some dying hardware in the phone too.
i have gone back and forth between lollipop and kitkat the problem with the Bluetooth starts at 4.4.4 and increases with lollipop. 4.4.2 is fine.
Have you tried with a different Bluetooth device? I have one in the car that skips for approx. 2 minutes when I first turn it on, regardless of what phone is connected to it, but then it's all good. Same phones on the home stereo and zero skips.
Dan
Have you tried AOSP based ROMs? Obviously you'll lose Touchwiz features and S-Pen integration- but I have personally used the builds by Jdelano (both PAC ROM and Resurrection Remix) and the bluetooth has worked 100% fine on my car stereo (but that's all I've tested it with).

Bluetooth problems!

I've searched high and low, seems like no one else is having an issue?! When I connect to my car radio via Bluetooth every once In a while the audio will blank out for 5-10 seconds and never pause. And it would constantly happen. I cleared bluetooth data, unpaired and paired again, shut off WiFi, connected and reconnected again and again.. Nothing works. These things worked temporarily but then would continue the problem. Do I have a bad device or is there a way to fix this??. Please and thank you.
same problem with bracelet iwown i5+
have u tried turn visibility to always visible? i've got issue with my miband pulse too, but after turned on the visibility, it works like charm
I actually think the versions of bluetooth don't match up. I used my phone with a lighter port bluetooth fm transmitter and it works fine. I'll try to keep my visibility to always on and see if that works. If not, I'll just have to connect via aux or USB.. ? thanks!
i have the same problem with my honor 5C and Renault R LINK , do you resolve this ?
its not always ur device ! might be the reception ! make sure to try somewhere else !
I do not have issue with bluetooth with my car. So may be your réception part has something weird...
Did you also clean the cache of bluetooth midi service with Titanium backup for exemple ?
Cleaning it from settings>application did not solve some issue when i had pairing issue.

It is definitely the reception.
On my Honor 5X (L24), I've been getting the same Bluetooth problems with both the stock EMUI 4 ROM and CM13 nightlies ever since I bought the phone. In addition to the Bluetooth audio cutting out randomly, even the pitch of whatever is playing fluctuates. Reception should not be an issue, as I always place my phone right next to the aftermarket radio I installed. These issues do not occur with my Galaxy S4 or Lumia 640, so I believe there is something wrong with the 5X.

[USB-Audio] LineageOS: Sound Problems with USB-Audio-Interface

Someone using LineageOS with a USB-Audio-Interface??
I recently had my Xperia Z5 Compact rooted and swapped from Sony Stock-ROM to the latest 7.1.2 Lineage OS 14.1 Official Suzuran because I have been using CyanogenMod on my old Phone and I just loved it!
:good: BTW: Big Thanks to all you Devs and Maintainers!
But since my Z5 Compact is running LineageOS I have troubles using audio output via USB OTG. On the output of the external USB soundcard you can hear audio glitches like lags, clicks or drops. These dropouts are very annoying when listening to fine music...
When using Sony Stock-ROM everything worked fine with the same setup.
I have also tried LineageOS 14.1 Berni's alternative builds but this build obviously has the same USB-Audio problems.
Why don't use the built-in audio? Because an external Soundcard/DAC sounds so much nicer!
Any Ideas to try out or how to fix it?
Can you help!?
Thx.
What I have already tried:
- setting "performance profile" to: Power Safe / Efficiency / Balanced / Quick / Performance
- setting up "battery optimization" to not optimize: CM Audio Service, USB OTG, Music Player.
I don't know if these settings could influence audio output in any way or cause these clicking noises but it did not help anyway.
Found this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76139796&postcount=291
suggesting to edit build.prop file in /system in order to improve audio quality.
-> The recent build (suzuran 14.1 2018-06-24) was already setup that way.
Still I tried some playing with the setting audio.offload.buffer.size.kb=32 and setting it up till to 512 did not bring any improvement.
Also found a report which states that audio glitches and clicks disappeared when using the ViPER4Android Audio Effects app but I could not get it running. It needs to install some sort of driver (root needed) which did not work after all.
BTW: This is what they write at the Spotify Community about Android and USB Audio. -> Some Apps which depend on high quality sound output seem to bypass the Android driver and use their own.
Looks like a common problem with Android audio
As Sony USB-drivers or audio drivers from StockROM seem to work fine. Would it be possible to use the original Sony-drvers for the LineageOS suzuran build???
At the moment I would not recommend ViPER4Android for our phone because it seemed to wreck some drivers/settings when installing root-driver which made my sensors stop working.
Is somebody using ViPER4Android on Xperia Z5 Comact with LineageOS??
Any experiences???
Sill searching for better audio output via USB-Soundcard/-DAC . . .

Bad speaking quality via Bluetooth

Hi,
I have the problem that the speech quality of the Bluetooth hands-free kit in my car (BMW 1) and my BQ Aquaris x pro with Lineageos 15.1 (have never tested the original OS) is quite bad. On my side, it's not great, but I can understand the other person well (very tinny). However, the people on the other end can barely understand me (high level of background noise, very tinny).
It doesn't make a difference, if I call or get called.
With my previous Samsung S5 with Lineageos 13.1 and Nokia 301, I don't have any problems. In a rental car (Jeep) the speech quality was also bad.
If I just talk on the phone without hands-free, the quality is OK. Therefore, I assume that the problems are due to a bad Bluetooth speaker connection (Bluetooth audio connection e.g. Spotify is also OK).
Has anyone the same issue? Are there any settings I can change or apps in order to improve the current situation?
Thanks for any help,
Schrotti
No one else has this issue? I tried also with a BT speaker with free speech function (JBL Flip4) and the other person on the phone couldn't understand me at all.
This should have been fixed with 2.7.0 firmware update. If not, LineageOS might be a good option for you.
Update - WBS was not enabled and a few audio config issues were fixed, latest LOS 16 has it, just update to that.

[Q] Bluetooth media streaming not working - Suzuki Vitara 2019

Hello.
I've been using CrDroid on my Poco F1 for more than 8 months without problems when streaming media on my car's infotainment system.
Since an update in July (build of July 18th) media doesn't stream at all in the car's system but the phone itself seems connected and calls are working properly.
Yesterday I clean flashed another rom (Reloaded CAF latest version) but the result is the same. The last working rom is CrDroid from 11/07/2020 which I just switched back too.
I don't want to try other roms with clean flashes right now because I don't want to go through the fuss of setting up the phone each time without knowing if the issue is solved.
Does anybody have any insight on this?
Thank you in advance.

If its any help, I was using Crdroid for a while until Android Auto stopped working sometime back in April. Since then, I'm on EvoX and both AA and Bluetooth streaming are working great...
BTW, on earlier versions of Crdroid, if I installed V4A and also audio compatibility patch and audio modification library from Magisk, I would get no sound through Bluetooth... Don't know which of the two mods was the exact culprit, though, but if you've got any of these installed, maybe disable them first and give it a try...

Thanks for replying.
No mods installed so that shouldn't be it.
I've settled on CrDroid from 11/07 for now due to forthcoming vacation and no time for clean flashes.
Will test other roms later on.
Thanks again.
