Did you format to F2FS? It's not widely supported. Use EXT4. No need to reboot.

I had the same problem, fixed by doing a clean MIUI (or any other ROM) install and installing TWRP, just after the ROM, without reboot.
You may try http://en.miui.com/thread-344450-1-1.html
This will install patched TWRP I got many errors with this. So the first method is preferred.

How do I format internal SD?

Hi
I have a huge problem.
Sms/mms app won't run. It crashes after boot and any time I try to start it.
I have made several clean installations of stock ROM with no result. Including wiping everything of course.
But I can't figure out how to format the internal SD. There's files left there no matter what I do.
How do I make a true format so I can start over from scratch?

Probably files whose path gets rebuilt after a wipe, like DCIM.
In twrp recovery you have in wipe menu options to wipe internal sdcard, or format data completely, including /data/media (= sdcard).

I did several hard resets, but those do not fix anything really.
It would be helpful if you list what files they are

Recovery/mounts and storage/format sd
Twrp is a recovery, there is a thread in Android original development section.

BTW: that must be some special. You can't format the internal card when using the phone. To many files in it that system uses.

Formatting internal SD card?

Hi, I'm using the Dorimanx Kernel along with the Ressurection Remix ROM and I was wondering, can I format my internal sd card in any way? The latest version has bugged the storage opting in the settings so I can't possibly manage this that way.

When you say format internal storage are you referring to wiping it via rom or recovery?
If recovery have you tried another kernel?
If rom them why not change rom version??
By the way the word you was looking for was "pardon".

Am I automatically required to use the word pardon? Lolwut.
And when I say format internal SDcard then I mean wiping it clean so that only the necessary folders and files are remaining.

Well your internal SD is partitioned. When you wipe data/factory reset teh system partition is returned to default. You could then wipe the card you want to format when mounted via USB in Windows, all needed files would be re-created on fist boot of factory reset system afaik.
Remember to backup what you want to keep like photos/efs backup folder etc etc.
Reboot in recovery, go into "mounts and storage" menu and format the internal SD card.

Nice, thanks! Will this remove any files related to my rom & kernel?
Will this remove any of my important files and will I have to install the rom all over again? Or am I good to go?
Nope, but all your data and settings will be gone. It's like you started your phone for the first time.

just do it in recovery.

This can be fixed without wiping internal data. Flash nitrogen os and boot to system, when the system prompts for password then again boot to recovery and open file manager in twrp ( file manager can be found under advance section) and browse to data/system and delete
- gatekeeper.password.key
- gatekeeper.pattern.key
- locksettings.db
-locksettings.shm
-locksettings.wal
And then reboot.

Choose "format data" in TWRP. Not "wipe data". You'll lose your internal storage data too in the process. It's because MIUI encrypts data by default.

Android Q ROMs TWRP fails to map file

Hey guys,
I already have done hours of research and I have been trying and failing a lot of times. So here´s my problem. I wanted to flash a new Rom , the newest MSM Extended and the newest Pixel experience. I´m on Twrp 3.2.3-2 and on the newest firmware for the Pocophone (V11.0.5.0.PEJMIXM). Everytime I try to flash the ROM it says "Error 7" for Msm extended and "failed to map file" for Pixel Experience. I already tried all versions of Twrp for Poco F1 and I tried a 3.0.1 vesion of another device but the TWRP simply didn´t work. I always had to flash my old msm Rom which is always working. I think it´s because of the Android Q update. But I already have the latest firmware so I really don't know anymore.
Try latest twrp

When you get from pie to q, you have to format your storage. It's not only wiping your internal, it's a different option in twrp.
Format your storage, reboot into recovery and then it will work.
Mind that you you have to format again and do some other things too if you decide to get back to pie afterwards.

Alright. So I just have to find the option to format my phone? Doesn't that also wipe my internal? The zips for ROM, GApps etc. are there. Is it possible to transfer files while in Recovery? If yes then I can follow. I don't quite understand right now. Sorry for the late reply. I was busy with school.

The button for formatting is next to "advanced" in the wipe menu of twrp.
It will erase everything, yes.
You have to transfer the zips needed from a pc/microsd/usb otg to your storage once it's been formatted while being in twrp.
So I'll have to Advance Wipe>Internal Storage, Dalvik, Cache, Data. Then Magisk will flash easily?
I'm using the POCO X3 right now running MIUI 12.
