Redmi Note 4 kernel sources - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

We need the kernel sources for the Redmi note 4 Snapdragon before we can make custom ROMs, so we should collectively spam the Xiaomi forums to get them.
Unless there is a more effective way?

Sure, just go and spam all the threads and forums.... NOT! Stop right there, and just wait for the kernel source like everybody else. What makes you and Xiaomi redmi note 4 special?

Xiaomi redmi note 3 - when wil cyanogenmod be available?

Dear,
Will the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 get Cyanogenmod 13? If so, when?
Has anyone started trying to create it?
What others mentionable ROMs are there out there for Xiaomi Redmi Note 3?
Kind regards,
BremFM
I can't wait too.
We may get CM12 first, since that's what the Note 2 has on offer.
When is the Note 3 going to get its own forum on xda?
Hi friends, I also want to know.
+1.
On another thread, a comment is made that Xiaomi has good hardware but poor software; the support is not there for international customers.
The MIUI forum for this phone is spammed by Xiaomi advertising new devices, rather than useful information.
Pray for cyanogenmod
You can follow progress here: http://en.miui.com/thread-205649-1-1.html
redmi note3
i wait too.

No.
There has to be a dev for Note3 who will keep updating it. As of now nobody is working on it. If I could get some help, I would be happy to create cyanogenmod roms for note 3
You guys will be best off taking matters into your own hands as most developers won't touch their devices.
I know how you feel about xiaomi, sir zelendel, and i can understand that but the situation is not as bad as it seems (they are starting to change their ways) . We got to consider a few things:
- this IS xiaomi so we have to take into account everything god/bad associated with that
- this phone has great value for money, no doubt it is/will be a very popular device - we can expect a fair amount of modding to be available
- since this is the first Snap 650 powered device it will take some time for the community to start developement
- xiaomi have promised to release source codes up to three months after the device has been released in india, so again it is only a matter of time (they have already released sources for few devices in the timeframe)
So there is still hope for this really good device, we just have to wait a little. In my opinion, there wont be any development for at least two more months since the device has been launched about 10 days ago - it is too early. Just be patient guys :good:
Also, CM is boring

Different sections for Redmi Note 3 (Mediatek) and Redmi Note 3 Pro (Snapdragon)

It probably would solve a lot of headaches in the future if the Redmi Note 3 with a Mediatek processor and the Redmi Note 3 Pro with a Snapdragon processor had each their own sections in the forum. The Pro has only recently been out and people are already asking in the different posts if the rom or advice works for the Mediatek or for the Snapdragon version. And since both SoC's are so different the ROM's will not be compatible, so I do not see the point of keeping them together other than to enjoy seeing the users confused.
Yeah i too agree. Even on miui website we dont have a separate thread
Agree MTK and SD have totally different ROMs

I Fully Agree.
MTK and SD have totally different ROMs
there has been lot of confusion for REDMI Note 3G and 4G(Dior)
a sharma
sharing is power
Agree, please add a seperated section
This must be addressed before further development
I agree, with some devices it doesn't matter much but the difference between the two chipsets is too big to have them in one section.
I'm agree too!
I second this opinion.
Iam agree with you
I'm agree too!
Does any one have solution to double tap screen wake up
I agree with the OP!
Will any moderator will listen to our request here?
we just recently got a section for redmi note 3 and i´m happy about it.most post are tagged by mediatek or PRO SD are sufficient to make difrence between them
At least two different sections like android one devices .... Like redmi note 3 mediatek and snapdragon so that we can directly search all related ROMs kernels easily
As the kernel source has been released, there will be more development works going around so its a request please provide separate forum for redmi note 3 snapdragon
Don't think it's going to happen, I guess the SD version will have more users, so I guess only those users will be more active

I'm agree too.
@admin please look into this matter.

Not promising anything but send me a PM detailing the scale of the problem.
Are users not labelling their ROMs properly to distinguish the two? If so give me some links.
Give me links to any problems that have arisen from any confsion that is around.

Nougat update for the redmi note 4X

i own a redmi note 4x and since i couldn't find any specific section under that device's name in XDA, i will just post my query here in Redmi note 4 section.
I want to know whether android nougat is available for redmi note 4x as my one is currently on marshmallow.
If yes then someone please put me through the steps of how to update my device manually as there are no OTA updates available at the moment.
and also one more thing..in all the benchmark apps and also in my device's info section, the device is marked as redmi note 4 instead of redmi note 4x. But all the physical redmi 4x traits are there in my device as there are no screws beside the micro usb port, the Snapdragon 625 is present, the notification light is on the left of the speaker and the IR blaster is not in the middle, it is on the right side at the top of the device. Can anyone clarify why this might be the case?
Thank you!

No, nougat isn't available as of yet. It is however available as a developer build which you can flash through the inbuilt updater app but I would recommend against it as it does not add anything useful to the device and for flashing it you have to find the right version (something like x. x.16 or something) otherwise it just won't work.
Also the redmi note 4x is the snapdragon variant, in the Indian market, the same device (snapdragon) is branded simply as redmi note 4 without the x. If you have any more queries hit me up!

Actually reading through your op again, the phone is marketed as the redmi note 4x in the Chinese markets to distinguish the mtk and snapdragon variants.

my only concern is whether the custom ROMs and updates for the redmi note 4x would work in my device! does the redmi note 4(Snapdragon) and the redmi note 4X(Snapdragon) share the same ROMs and updates? do they work vice versa?

Yes, they are the same exact devices. All the roms for the redmi note 4 would work perfectly fine on your redmi note 4x. You have nothing to worry about. Happy flashing!
PS - I'd recommend checking out the aosp extended rom for your first one if you are going to flash.

They don't share the same roms or update. Please be careful while flashing. As you may have noticed there are separate forums for mediatek and SD.

i specifically singled out the redmi note 4(Snapdragon version). I know the redmi note 4(mediatek version) is different.
anyway thanks for your concern!

In which case I did not follow you correctly the first time around. Please ignore my rather lengthy post.

there is no separate section for the redmi note 4x
and my query concerns ROMs. Why should this be moved?
Sorry but all your questions have been answered a hundred times. In the question sections are just those threads. What is my device... Which ROM is best... Over and over and over and over again. ?

Didn't get any help there!
and since it does concern roms, what's the problem with posting it here?

wrong thread, please ask in the Qand A section. Here's the development section
Yolo bro! Everyone yelling at you to move the post to Q&A Section? Well... Don't worry.
I'm gonna say that too. Ask a moderator to move your thread to Q&A.

No active developers ? Normal, when we see people like you complaining like baby because of nothing. If you are not happy, go on, buy a PC, learn development, and build yourself.
Pathetic.

ROM and recovery difference for Note 4 and Note 4x

Okay so I'm looking into buying my next smartphone and it is most likely going to be the Xiaomi Redmi note 4x, my question is that if i do end up buying this device, would the roms and recoveries from the note 4 with the snapdragon 625 work on the 4x or would O have to specifically look for recovery and rom for 4x because xda does not have a seperate device listed as the note 4x, thanks, also I'm really sorry if there has already been a similar thread which answers this question but i didnt find one that quite answers this.

You don't have to worry if you get the snapdragon variant of Redmi Note 4/4x, Roms are compatible.
Oh okay, thanks so much
