yea so I am running before in cyanogenmod 10.1 with jellybean and I downloaded Cyanogenmod 12.1 from rom manager. I also downloaded gapps downloader from playstore to find gapps there.
I flashed Cyanogenmod 12.1 successful. I installed Gapps successful, too
I am now running in android 5.1.1 but when the phone starts, ALL THE GOOGLE APPS I INSTALLED STOPS. Even in the startup, all the google applications forces closes and the apps is not installed. When I looked in the settings>apps>all
the google apps is there but it is in my sd, it also shows com.google......etc and it is not installed in my device.
The android Keyboard (AOSP) also closes again and again so I cannot type when the phone asks me to input password in my WIFI. SO I AM ****ING STUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! ****ING STUCK
I wanted to try to flash it back to jellybean, but the Recovery my phone is running is the Cyanogenmod Recovery and there is no back up and restore option.
I want to fix this issue, I mean I still want to run my device on Lollipop. How can I fix this? How to make gapps work and the keyboard,
Take a backup of all your stuff in internal storage.
Download these files onto your SD card.
Kernel- https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24407100847293132
TWRP- https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24369303960684130
Download the proper Pico gapps from this thread.
After that,
1) Boot into recovery
2) Install the recovery
3) Reboot your device again into recovery. If it does not boot into TWRP recovery then it means you're on an older version of CM 12.1., so flash the kernel first, then the recovery, and try to reboot your device into recovery) If it booted into TWRP then you do not need to flash the kernel.
In TWRP, select 'Wipe', and do a factory reset, after that's done, select install in TWRP and flash Pico Gapps.
thanks for the reply!
but do you think this would work?
do you think the cm recovery would accept this zip files, because I tried to flash my backup applications such as games, and other stuff and it showed err signature verification failed.

I tried installing gapps for Android 4.2.1 and it worked AHAHAHAHAHA. But when I rebooted it, com.google...etc stil, all of the closes. (unfortunately com.google,etc. has stopped) even the AOSP the android keyboard isnt working.
I have some gapps working now, THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE NOW IS THAT THIS ****ASS AOSP KEYBOARD UNFORTUNATELY STOPPED MESSAGE EVERY 2 secs AND I CANT TYPE,
What error does it show when you try to install gapps?
And by gapps I mean the one for android 5.1.

there is no error anymore. i installed 3rd party keyboard. thanks mate )
i mean the gapps are working but when I sync my google acc, it syncing error. they are working but after for about 5 mins or later, com.google.process.gapps unfortunately stops so i cant use it and more error stuff comes out. I think I am having issues with GApps, basically. how the hell i can fix this. I tried so many gapps from the xda thread, youtube, and other forums for 5.1.x. still, they unfortunately stop.
Take a backup of your stuff.
Download GApps (ARM/5.1/pico) from this link.
http://opengapps.org/
Copy paste the .zip file into your SD Card.
Boot into recovery (TWRP) and wipe /data, /cache, /dalvik cache
After that is done, install the open_gapps-arm-5.1-pico-xxxxxxxx.zip
Reboot your phone.
Now the unfortunately stopped error will be fixed.
that is what I have downloaded. I wiped data, cache and dalvik cache. and installed gapps
it says Insufficient storage space available in system partition. you may want to use a smaller Open GApps package or consider removing some apps using gapps-config.
NO changes were made to your device
Error Code: 70
E: Error executing updater binary in zip
Are you sure you used the pico version of gapps?

That's weird. Download Diskinfo from Playstore and post a screenshot of it. I'd like to know the space free in /system partition of your device.
Man, this is what I did
And yea, I figured it out.
1. Factory reset
2. Flash Rom
3. Flash Gapps
5. Wipe Cache / Dalvik Cache
6. Reboot
THANKS FOR SOME HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey there I cannot install any Custom ROM on my honor 5x(kiwi)Everytime I install any custom ROM, be it cyanogenmod, xenonHD or resurrection remix. I follow the exact same steps posted everywhere.
Here are the steps I followed(using TWRP):
put both gApps and ROM file on Sd card
boot into recovery mode
select wipe>advanced wipe> selected(Dalvik/Art Cache+cache+data+system+(tried wiping internal storage once too)
swipe to wipe
go on home
select install select Custom ROM +(selected gApps once with ROM zip and once separately)
swipe to confirm flash> clear dalvik/cache
reboot system
Phone goes into bootloop everytime
tries going into recovery again>wipe>advanced wipe>select dalvik/ART cache+cache
swipe to wipe
reboot
phone is still in bootloop no matter how much time I leave it.
PLease help I'm stuck
I'm getting the same problem as well. My device is a Honor 5X KIW-CL00
I've installed TWRP & lineage-14.1-20170415-Strick-kiwi.zip, wiped Dalvik/Cache/Data, but still stuck in bootloop. It's the same situation if I try and flash CM13 or any other custom rom. Please help.
Sorry guys, help need here... installed RR 7.1.2 on GT-I9100 but failed to install Gapps... here are my steps...
1. Repartition via Odin - pit file - I9100_1.5GB-System_6GB-Data_32MB-Preload_by-the.gangster.pit - successful;
2. Flash CWM -Kitkat Compatible i9100 via Odin - successful;
3. Copy (a) RR-N-v5.8.4-20170813-i9100-Official and (b) gapps - open_gapps-arm-7.1-mini-20170910 to SD card;
4. Reboot to CWM, wipe partition, cache, dalvick cache, format system partion, flash (a) - successful;
here is the uncertain ways to flash gapps, but i try both ways, all failed.
5a. Right after flashing (a), straight away flash (b), successful, reboot but stuck at boot animation,
5b. After flashing (a), reboot and set up - successful, set Developer option, reboot to CWM to flash (b), error message e:\failed to find / misc partition.
The rom successfully installed and running, but unable to flash gapps.
Any comment? Thanks in advance!
I would suggest starting again this time install TWRP v3.1.0.0 recovery instead of CWM. You will need a compatible kernel. See djibe's guide in help section.

So i was happy using a kenzo with unlocked (unofficially) bootloader.
i had followed this guidehttps://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/unlock-unofficially-install-zcx-twrp-t3586778
So i had not rooted the device but just unlocked to use lineage os 14.1
i wanted to record internal audio and so tried to root with magisk. i took a backup using TWRP ZCX on an OTG USB.
successful!
now i installed iFont and installed a font.
this font made some problem in my status bar. there was some extra space above the clock, battery and all.
so whenever an app issued a notification, it crashed. even the system crashed continously.
so i decided to restore my backup.
i wiped my existing data in twrp
but the back up was successfully restored and upon system boot i saw "unsuccessful decryption." upon clicking restart, my phone would flash the TWRP ZCX logo and restart itself landing me again on "unsuccessful decryption."
so i went back to recovery and saw that could not mount /data.
so i did this:
My solution is simples. but you will LOSE EVERY FILE on userdata.
Step 1: Install TWRP
Step 2: Go to Wipe box
Step 3: Select Advanced Wipe
Step 4: Check "DATA" and tap on "Repair or Change File System".
Step 5: Tap Change File System
Step 6: See original format on file system (In my S6 is EXT4). So turn to other and switch back to original
Now /data is mounted back.
from https://forums.androidcentral.com/t...y-e-failed-mount-data-invalid-argument-2.html
It helped and i could mount /data
but then upon another restore i saw the same "unsuccessful decryption."
i read somewhere that a format will wipe all encryption and i thought it might help.
i formatted all the boxes (including data, internal storage and system)
then did a system restart from TWRP
now im stuck with mi logo and i am unable to enter fastboot and recovery.
HELP ME!

Don't go to advanced wipe. Selecting parttions doesnt format it. It only wipes.
Wipe and format are 2 diiffrent commands.
There is an option called format data in twrp. Click format data and type " yes " to format data. It will decrypt the data and internal storage.
First format data (must do)
Then wipe data reset
Flash rom
Flash gapps
Reboot

I dont know zcx is updated or not
Install latest twrp 3.2.3 coz of some bug fixes for oreo.
I prefer aosp extended official oreo
First Format data must do to decrypt
Then Wipe data reset
Flash rom
Flash latest august open gapps pico or nano
Reboot
Sent from my kenzo using XDA Labs
steps i need to follow for flashing rom
1. wipe (delvik, cache, system, data)
2. install rom (after flashing a message appears 'No OS installed)
3. then i press home button, and reboot to recovery.
4. Again install rom (this time without wiping any thing)
5. finally gets new rom.
why m not able to flash rom directly after wiping cache etc.
i have to always flash the rom two times (step 4) to install.
where i am getting it wrong?? help please
previously I was using Pixel experience Rom (decrypted)
edit solution: the issue was because of using older version of TWRP. hence solved.
your issue might be because of system partition not getting mounted properly after the wipe. Hence After wiping, reboot to recovery then flash rom.
