Got my - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

Whoops, sorry about the topic.
I live in the US and my global x829 64GB from Geekbuying arrived today. I had to order a nano sim because my previous phone had a micro. Works fine on Wi-Fi- nice phone for $200.
I'm a little lost. The phone came with EUI version 5.8.016S and there is no System Update option anywhere in settings. It comes with the Play store installed and works fine.
The fingerprint sensor doesn't work- is there a newer stock EUI or a good custom ROM for the Global x829 phone I can install? Will the Global x820 ROMs work on the x829? It needs to be able to work in the US.
Any other tips? I'm sure there will be lots of US owners who buy into this phone now that the resellers are selling the Global x829 version for ~$200US.

My phone has the latest Chinese Stock ROM, the update function can be found in the settings menu. Perhaps you can find the Update app in the app folder. However, since your phone has Play Store installed, the seller might have installed modified ROM on it, OTA update might not work for your phone.
Other than the RAM size, the hardware is same as X820, I don't see why you can't flash the stock ROM to your phone. Just look for the latest ROM in the official firmware thread, download it to your phone and rename it to update.zip if necessary, open File Manager and open the update file, your phone will be updated.

It just needs to be able to work with US phone carriers, and I won't screw up my phone by flashing X820 ROMs?

When I first got my x820, it also came with custom rom which doesn't support OTA update and was based on old EUI. I then installed the original rom and OTA works fine. You just need to install all google apps yourself

just flashed today cuoco92 rom from x820 the S20 v65 and works fine so far as I can see. Make a backup before e.g. just boot TWRP recovery instead flashing it (fastboot boot recovery.img) and do a backup. To be honest I was able to restore backup but did not boot proper - need to check why, but installing cuoco92 rom again worked/fixed it.

Until it's been confirmed someone flashes ROM that works with US carriers I'm not going to mess with it.

so that means x829 version also has the fingerprint scanner issue? I was really looking forward to trying this..

Fingerprint reader works quite well, just tested 4 fingers

Doesn't work on mine. At all.
Someone in the US be brave and flash their x829 to a newer/custom rom and tell me if it works with AT&T.

I never get so an update ?
If your smartphone has a Stock ROM can receive OTA updates, but if you mount a custom-ROM no updates OTA

Yeah, but where can I find the option to search for an available update ? I skipped through every option in the settings and also I couldn't find an extra app for that.
On 14S Rom
settings>system update(under heading 'other')

Same problem here, I'm on 13s international ROM.
So... What Are the benefits on updating to 14s? And is it safe? I just failed one Time flashing a phone and that was the cables fault.. Im Not New to flashing and Stuff, but i am scared to brick my 3 days old phone
(by the way, I am german and my Rom is german too)
there is an international 14s firmware , and if so where ?
Same here there no system update on my phone, i'm trying to find the apk....
Ok what I've done it's to download the rom 14s on a website, renamed by update.zip, placed it on root and in file Explorer click on it and upgrade. I'm on 14s now and the app to update is on home screen.
Hai , Are there a flashtool for this phone and its ftf firmware file too ?
An international stock rom? is it even existed?

I see in http://bbs.le.com/zt/eui/le_max2.html the 14S that you install. Can we assume that it is a scratch installation and all data will be lost ? also do tell us if this version support English properly ?

Update info - I received the LeMax2 with International ROM based on 13S........ I download the Stock ROM 15S from the link above copy as update.zip to the phone root, went Vol Up+Power and with the simple EUI Recovery directly update.
No need for any root or TWRP ......keep it simple
Went so perfect and smooth upgrade, kept all my data - I was surprise how easy was it.
anyone with International version and no OTA menu - go for it. 15 minutes and U are on stock ROM and OTA updates.
Hi,
I want to order a LeEco Le Max 2. I'm in Canada. I understand that if I buy the Invernational one, I got no OTA, but if I buy the standard version I will have OTA.
My question : What are the advantages of buying the International one as the Standard one as all the same FDD bands than International one, and have even more FDD bands and TD bands ?

Which ROM currently installed

Hi,
got my new x829 a few week ago, and I'm wondering if I should do an update, but since people talk about indian stock , chinese, etc...
The first think I would need to know is what ROM I currently have !?!?
In "About phone" it just says : EUI version 5.8.016S .
But is this chinese? Indian?
I'm quiet pleased with the current ROM, just maybe the camera soft is not as good as I expect, hope to improve it by updating.
What would be the natural succession of the ROM I have?
Thanks,
Grey
the same I had it is vendor rom it is not official , then i flashed EUI version 5.8.016S Indian rom
If u have x829 in "about phone" so u have USA ROM version, if x820 - chinese or if x821 - indian
Yes it says x829 in "about". There are no updates available for this USA version?
Can one update to chines or indian ROM with normal update procedure (copy zip to internal storage, then update) ? Some threads appear to talk about the need to use TWRP, which is confusing.
Thanks,
Grey

You can if you have the updater app installed and can see it in settings. Mine did not have it so had to install twrp as it failed to install in recovery on rom it came with.
Thanks for the reply.
Indeed have no "update" option in settings menu. Thought update has to be done from booting in recovery, but from what you say that fails, correct?
Does any TWRP serve? Saw some thread that appears to indicate you need a specific flavour ?!

I cannot register network

Hi
I recently received n x820 with rom 19S installed. The reception bars were shown but nothing I did or EE my service provider would get it registered. My sim works in another phone.
I installed twrp 3.1.1-0-x2 and oreo pixel experience is working well apart from no service re mobile. Fingerprint works fine.
I looked at the radio its set to usa or automatic. Preferred network type is TD-SCDMA/WCDMA.
I am in UK does this mean my phone wont get a mobile signal in UK?

Heyyo, have you tried flashing upgraded modem firmware?
Just flash via TWRP and reboot
Either try Developer 466D

Or Chinese 26s 05.09
https://yadi.sk/d/woKdrlRrv8yhr/Китай

Hi The_Mard, I tried both but without altering the test settings on radio switcher.
Still no service. The mobile network icon has no bars showing, and on 26S modem it defaults to WCDMA only.
I tried them both with very little time between change. Should I turn on/off phone?
Heyyo, hmm do you know by chance if your phone came with Indian or Chinese 5.8.019s?
One of the only other things I can really recommend is try flashing EUI ROM 5.9.028s the last stable release just to see if flashing it plus all the firmware it comes with will solve the issue for you.
Here's the official link for it

Thanks for the suggestion. I bought from a Chinese seller and the ROM had been customized for the English market, geekbuying had a version of this on it LE_X2_X820-OS-OP-FGXOSOP5801910121S-5.8.019S.zip.
I'll try the 28S but as I am rooted with twrp can I install it or only with ADB?

Mine installed via TWRP it just got grumpy during TWRP install saying there's extra files it didn't know what to do with but it still worked
Twrp installed it and aroma arm64 6.0 provided a nice pixel launcher.
The network search shows 4 bars on the phone which is an improvement. But it can't connect though the region is Other, time and date are London and GMT.
I feel this may be a hardware issue as the network has never registered.

International Version?

On Gearbest they are selling an international Mi Pad 4, I'm pretty sure this rom is a vendor rom, so I've a few questions.
1. Is it safe?
2. Does the bootloader come unlocked?
3. Does it still receive OTA updates and all the normal things you'd get on stock china rom?
I bought my unit (4/64GB International - BLACK) from gearbest.com.
1. I received it in two weeks with the free shipping option, although i believe the nominal timeframe is ~25 days. The online package tracker indicated the shipment having departed from Belgium.
2. Yes, at least mine was unlocked.
3. I couldn't update mine using the MIUI Updater app.
The unit i received was loaded with something that looks like the Chinese ROM (MIUI 9) bundled with google play.

I think you must have the vendor rom then, nothing is wrong with this rom but I don't think it gets updates much or at all.
You can flash the official Xiaomi rom here:
http://bigota.d.miui.com/V9.6.27.0....DJCNFD_20180907.0000.00_8.1_cn_174c740a1b.tgz
Please be aware you will have to manually install the Play Store as it is a China rom.
Yeah, the device doesn't receive any updates in its stock configuration. After flashing the latest stable Chinese ROM i went with phh's AOSP GSI without the Play Store.
Be happy when you get unlocked Bootloader.. Normaly these days it needs 720hours to unlock = 30 days.
And use xaiomi.eu ROM for "international feeling" (it is based on chinese version, but has translations).
Update: I received my Mi Pad 4 with the "global" rom, it was a shop rom with no updates and a few system app force closes such as the Weather app. I flashed the official China Stable rom and it's working great.

You should buy one with the China ROM and sideload Google Play. The vendor ROM doesn't get OTA updates and isn't fully stable.
However if you want an unlocked bootloader, buy one with a vendor rom and then flash the China stable ROM, this is because the vendor ROM is already unlocked so you won't have to wait to unlock the bootloader.
Isn't it better to buy one with unlocked bootloader and flash xiaomi.eu rom?

Yes, buy the international vendor room one that comes with an unlocked bootloader, then flash the China Stable like I did or a custom room of your choice like xiaomi.eu

Hi, I have just ordered an MI Pad 4 plus. Only after it was shipped I noticed it is one with "international Rom" or vendor Rom. So I am guessing it will have the bootlocker unlocked already but how do I update it to the Original Rom so I can get future Updates? Any guidance would be very much appreciated. I am a little bit new to this and not that tech savvy.
Thank you

As soon as it arrives the bootloader will be unlocked, this is required for the tablet to boot a vendor rom. Just follow this once you get it: https://en.miui.com/thread-4590474-1-1.html
Feel free to message me if you run in to any issues.
Use the China beta method as you will need to flash it via fastboot.

If you need a bit more information, download the fasboot rom from here:
https://en.miui.com/thread-4590474-1-1.html
And flash it using this guide: http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
Remember when you flash it use one of these options:
flash_all (Flashes and wipes data keeps bootloader unlocked)
flash_all_lock (Flashes and wipes data and locks bootloader)
do NOT use the option to save your data, doing this coming from a vendor rom will cause a bootloop.
Hope this helps.

Good job, I'm going to flash a stock android ROM, because I'm getting sick of MIUI.

How do I convert a Chinese OnePlus 7T Pro to EU or international?

I can't seem to find any OTAs to flash to convert the Chinese version of the 7T Pro to global or EU? Have OnePlus not released them yet? If any of you know how to do it, it'd be a great help.
Thanks!

Don't mind me asking, why did you unlock the bootloader in the first place? Custom ROMs? I have yet to receive my 7T CN ROM 256GB, but from what i understand all you need to do to flash OxygenOS over HydrogenOS is to go to your country's oneplus website(or any EU one), download latest ROM and then flash it via local update in phone settings, then factory reset. That's it, no messing with bootloader or other stuff. You now have an EU OP7T.
I was planning to root and then changed my mind.
Is there any difference between the India OxygenOS and the EU one? Im on the Indian after changing from the Chinese H2OS

I'm uploading the EU OTA again. I'll edit this with the link when it's up.
Download it and use upgrade local to flash it.

Hi all!
I'm also looking to convert my Indian firmware to international or eu but I'm on 10.0.4.
Has anyone got the full 10.0.4 eu or international? Thanks!
