I've been checking SamFirm for the nougat firmware for a few days, and I finally was able to download the official nougat firmware today. I'll be posting google drive links to odin 3.12 and the nougat firmware in case anyone wants a quick download link for the nougat firmware.
Download link for Odin: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298965444 .
Download link for Nougat FW: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=2C3C1C6245EF11E7963AFA163EE8F90B .
Hit thanks if I helped and enjoy Nougat!

Nougat has severely diminished my device
Just a general rant, don't know if this is the correct thread for this, and not asking for assistance, just sharing my experience. I updated to official 7.0 when it was release, have been using it for few weeks. Battery life has been way worse than with 6.0.1, speaker sounds as if it is blown out. and multiple major apps crash constantly (facebook, google play music amazon app store etc). Was on beta before officail and DID NOT have these issues. None of the fixes I have searched for have worked.
Used Odin to downgrade back the other day, immediately noticed improvements in sound, after a day, battery was back to normal and apps are working without crashing.
Dont know if just me/my device, or a known issue with the official sprint release.

Thanks to the OP for posting this, as I will certainly be using it.
And to @Blkjck11, Nougat isn't perfect, and this device CERTAINLY isn't exempt. Nougat has hit my device performance HARD when using GPS, or even switching from a game to the home screen. Battery drain is a problem as well...but even after all of that...I still rather Nougat over MM. The multiwindow has been well refined, and the install/launch times for apps has improved.
Performance certainly varies between devices, and you might not be experiencing the same issues as others.

This is strange, mine the battery improved. Hmmm

Rooted or not rooted? I think not rooted Android 7 is a lot smoother and less intensive. Plus it really comes down to how much you use the phone, what apps are running all the time in the background, etc...
But if you have gone through any steps to "modify" your install of Nougat, always interested to hear. Performance and still maintaining decent battery life is always cool.

Not rooted. Same amount of use as previously on MM just seems a touch better.

That's good... What we all hope for with newer releases of an OS. Better performance and functionality than the last!

Agree. Non root nougat has better battery! Some will argue, but the stability is unmatched.

EDIT... Wrong thread answer

I tried flashing this firmware, but I keep getting an error saying that the MD5 hash is invalid for the AP file (the error message shows up when I try to load the files into odin). I have been getting this same message from the nougat firmware downloaded from multiple locations. Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Thanks

Yeah can just flash the Odin files for the Marshmallow firmware. But that blanks your phone and is basically like doing a factory reset, just back to 6.0.1
Though I'm surprised that a lot of apps crashed. I'm running stock, for now, and yeah I've noticed battery life is up and down. I happened to have loaded Pokemon GO, and when I run that it just kills my battery. Of I stick with normal messaging apps, web surfing, Tapatalk, YouTube, stuff like that... I seem good. But I also am running my screen at at the 1080p mode, and turned my brightness down a bit. Also disabled all the Sprint stuff and other apps I'm not using, that I'm unable.to uninstall because they are bloatware.
I have noticed my phone getting warm randomly sometimes, reboot usually fixes it (unless I'm gaming). But battery life still seems decent. Then again that's coming from a rooted version of this firmware as well.
Though last thought I can think of, is that I did a fresh clean install of QC1, and then upgraded to QD2. But upgraded always seem to have lingering issues though. But since on QD2 I think battery is better than QC1, so we'll see.

Is it possible to roll back incremental updates? ie from QE1 back to QD2. My wife's phone received the QE1 OTA update and since then her wifi has not worked and it also says CUSTOM rather than OFFICIAL. I have not rooted the phone. I really don't care about the CUSTOM part, just trying to get the wifi working again. I've tried factory resets and loading the QE1 firmware via ODIN and resetting the device completely with that method at least 3 times now. Still no dice. I'm thinking it's a software issue and maybe rolling the update back to a prior version might fix it? Sprint won't work with me because they say KNOX was tripped because I rooted it (which I didn't...).

[Q] Painful Stock Lollipop Experience

I along with many other T-Mobile S5 users have patiently awaiting the arrival of 5.0 Lollipop for our beloved device...........Its finally here and is beautiful to look at but a pain in the ass to use.
WHY??!?!?!?
I've been running the update since its launch in the U.S. and its ridiculously slow and unresponsive! WTH Samsung?
Simple things like opening the SMS app takes long to load and even longer to load the conversations.
Tapping the recents key takes almost 4 seconds to open the task switcher.
simple animations that occurred seamlessly on kitkat now take seconds to go thru.
Toast popups take forever to dismiss.
compared to 4.4.4 kitkat, lollipop drops the ball on speed when it should have no problems as its running 2.5GHZ.
i stuck with it for almost 2 weeks, i ran multiple cache wipes and factory resets only to have the same slow unresponsive $600+ device.
i now run Fusion Rom 5.0.2 and the phone is lightning fast! no complaints on the speed but to loose so many GS5 specific features absolutely sucks! no more fingerprint scanner, no more IR blaster drivers, no more GS5 camera.......which i loved!
Fusion ROM is my savior but damn, i still want my factory software with all my features back but at the speeds kitkat provided.....is that to much to ask for???
has anyone had this issue? its the same on my girlfriends s5 but lets face it, shes a chick and is nowhere near technologically inclined lol.
please help meh! any alternatives? different kernals? something please!

Sounds like a bad flash or incompatible data lingering causing the lag. I would start with a new Odin flash immediately followed by factory data reset. Also, turn off animations from developer options.
My stock, rooted setup is very smooth w/no lag.

That's something I haven't tried. I was rooted on stock 4.4.4, I unrooted and reflashed the stock recovery and ran the OTA. I didn't really do a clean install, I still retained all of my app data and user data. That could be the issue. I'm surprised I didn't think of that in the first place. I'll flash the stock sammobile lollipop firmware thru Odin and will post my results, hopefully it helps. Thanks for the input.

Remember even the Odin .tar is a "no wipe" .tar so you will need to do a factory data reset after flashing in order to get a true clean install.
I like Omega ROM. It's a TW ROM that is close to stock and is fast and smooth. It's in the 900F section. A LOT of people use it.
My experience was EXTREME loss of battery life. Like it went down by 75% even with factory resets and all that. I finally just put KitKat back on and everything is better. Not sure Lollipop has enough to tempt me away from KitKat again.

Ok, i flashed the stock 5.0 firmware with odin and did a factory reset.
So, from what i can tell.......and tell me if this makes sense.
After starting clean, i had the exact same issues so decided, let me be patient and maybe the new os needs time to settle. Since the 30th of march, lollipop has slowly "healed" itself......day by day, it gets faster and more responsive but.....theres always a but.......ive been presented with more problems. I get non stop toasts saying contacts app has stopped working.....even tho i NEVER use the contacts app. My heart beat scanner doesnt work, the red light no longer shows. My led doesnt work properly, it only shows when the phone is charging and now, the worst of them all. My battery life has gone down the drain BIGTIME. To the point where my phone is dead in an hour with minimal use......today, I did a reflash when I got to work except this time, I chose to boot to boot loader and just let the phone sit for a few hours. Now she works great, fast as hell and responsive but with the same dramatic battery decrease...........I'm now married to my charger.
Stock just doesn't seem to be living up to its promises in the battery life department which is a really big deal.
This sucks......
I'm now running KitKat and can definitely agree, the materialistic ui is nice as hell but that's not enough to take me back to lollipop.....at least as far as the tmogs5 klte goes.

^ You may want to try flashing a custom kernel like ktoonsez's . For the contacts app force closes, disabling "Google+" app helps.
2.5GHz? Noooo, more like 1.4GHz. Use CPU Z and see for yourself. The governor is interactive and I barely see the phone run at 2.5GHz. Lollipop has been slower in some parts but it has resolved some kitkat issues. 5.1 is very stable. Sammy needs to skip 5.0.1 and 5.0.2.

Lag and sd card

So I have tried almost every thing to fix the lag that came with lollipop 5.1.1 my phone locks up and becomes completely unresponsive . Until I reboot. Often when I'm browsing and the phone rings I am not able to answer it and end up rebooting the phone and calling back the missed call. I was about to revert to kitkat when I decided to try removing my micro sdcard. I opened up a lot of apps YouTube Facebook Twitter etc. And had my wife call me twice. So far no problems and no lag. If I can get by for a week like this with no issues I will just live without the sdcard. Otherwise I go back to kitkat
I'm noticing the same thing on 5.1.1 and I haven't been able to isolate it. I thought it might be a corrupted app so I downgraded or reinstalled frequently used apps. Still testing. Downgrading to KK isn't an option for me because I want to be patched for stage fright. I wish they would release a KK rom that's patched.
According to the stage fright app 5.1.1 is still vulnerable.
hey ashraf sharif i've been going thru the same thing it is so annoying to have to take back cover off then batt because phone won't respond also i had to disable volte because some phone call will not ring my phone they would go straight to voice mail turn volte off fix that problem. the other thing i notice with the upgrade when you take a picture and you want to send it usually i would select the < with the 3 dots=share via and then i can pick message it no longer says that. only choice now wifi bluetooth i made a back up of 5.0 might go back to that later on today

Yeah. I hear ya. The Lookout app says I'm not patched either but I thought it was well known that OG6 patched for Stagefright. So I'm not sure I trust the Lookout app. Anyone else know for sure?
i dont remove the battery i just press vol down and home and power . this reboots it. removing the sdcard helps alot initially but the longer the phone is on the buggier it gets. im going back to kitkat
doing a ob1 right now from scratch getting tired of turning phone on off on off will leave it on ob1 until a better approve working update is put out
I'm back on nk2 kitkat towelroot. My phone seems like new. Lollipop simply demands more ram than the s5 has . This happened with the Motorola atrix when ice cream sandwich was released. Motorola decided not to upgrade the atrix . A test firmware was leaked that was extremely Laggy and drained the battery in less than half an hour. Every android phone I had ran better on the earlier firmwares. I Will Wait Another 8 Months Till My 2 S5s Are Paid Off By that Time I can get the s7. The thing that kills me is I'm not even debloated on nk2 and it runs with no stutters and freezes at all.im just glad the phone is stable again

I have the exact same issues! I was really hoping I wouldn't have them, but I do. Just started happening 2 days ago. It really really pisses me off! They should have put 3gb of ram on this phone. The note 3 has 3 and this phone came out after it. Either way, I am not happy at all! I'm going to try a couple different Roms from the international section and see what happens. But this isn't working.

I'm so frustrated with Samsung over this S5 it isn't even funny. I'll update and let u guys know what and if Rent a Center gives me a different phone.

I'm having nothing but problems with the S5 and lollipop. Major lag even after Turning down the animations. I'm using my M8 right now, and it's day and night between the 2! Samsung really dropped the ball on the S5 lollipop update. The phone should have came with 3 gigs of ram. Nuff said!

Hi I was wondering if this means you're running on KitKat, or if you went back to Lollipop. I really want to stop this lag!
I've spoken to samsung and t mobile about this lag. They both made it seem like I'm the only one with this problem. Good thing I know better.

Thanks and fixed
After 6.0 Im done good news
Sweet! all we need to do is wait 6 months to get it ;=\
Android versions are moving so fast now developers can barely keep up, every new version has less features than the last and by time they start added some a new version is out. Granted 5.1.1 was SOOO bad I'm on cyanogenmod and at my house I don't even have service, id rather deal with that than the phone lagging to the point I have to pull the battery. I'm going to be switching carriers and sticking with cm but this is definitely my last Samsung phone.
I must be one of the ucky few who have almost 0 issues with 0G6, the errors (bugs / problems) I do have are easily fixed by a simple reboot. As for Marshmallow, I've knows for days as I asked a store associate at my carrier store whether or not I was getting it. He checked android central (of all things) to conclude that I was receiving it. And he was right. Now the waiting commences. My only question is, how long does it take for the official firmware to be released after the OTA becomes available?
The phone is unusable on 5.1.1 I don't see it getting better on android m . I always will try a new firmware but my experience has been that any thing after dob1 is crap. and cnk2 is faster than dob1
One other thing . dont hold your breath. I remember samsung saying the gt-19300 was going to get jellybean and then they changed their mind because of not enough ram. the motorola atrix was supposed to get Ice cream sandwich and that was also rescinded due to ram issues. I will believe it when I see it.
i'm too kind of done with samsung they pack the phone with goodies that you can't enjoy if the signal issue is not fix i will change phone brand i've read motorala are excellent with signal
one more bad software and my phone will end up like a marshmallow when i get done with it.LOL

On my phone after installing fog6 it runs OK for a day or two. Then It gets very laggy. To the point where the screen completely locks up and becomes unresponsive. It freezes.once I reboot the phone it is fine for a few hours but eventually it will freeze again. Typing is hard because of lag. I will type several characters and they won't appear until several seconds later. Often times when the phone rings I try to answer it but the phone becomes unresponsive and I miss the call. I then reboot and find out who called and call them back. This almost always happens if I am using the browser or an app when the phone rings. My phone is rooted and my wife's phone is not but we both have had these lag and performance issues on fog6 and fof6. I even debloated the phones and that still didn't help the lag. A reboot will fix it for a while but the phone will always lag again and freeze up when I need it the most. This is why I reverted to dob1. It is nowhere near as laggy . But even better than dob1 in my opinion is cnk2 . It is kit Kat but runs like a dream with no lag and all apps running no need to debloat. This phone was made for kitkat. It has 2 gigs of ram. That is why it is having problems on lollipop. I don't know how your phone seems to be OK maybe you are just lucky but I use my phone heavily and sad to say it can't perform on lollipop the way it does on 442 kitkat

You just explained mine AND my girls phone exactly!!!!! Stock did it so I DE bloated both phones, same issue, Installed shinys kernel and made all the tweaks, same crap. It has nothing to do with the ram, its a software issue and to my knowledge is limited to Tmobile!
afaik the other carriers are on 5.0 which is definitely not as laggy . anyway I am on cnk2 rooted twrp recovery with xposed and everything is running awesome. i could stay with this till the s7 comes out.
5.1.1 has never been laggy and I'm on db01 running cyanideL. Ran Blisspop forever and never any lag. I've seen these post and they are mostly from the same people who have jumped on every firmware update the moment it came out and got jocked everytime! They have caused the issue themselves trying every tweak in the book; the phone final said enough

Some of us are having issues with the latest ROM and lag, slow response to input and the phone just not responding as it did under KitKat.

Not sure I agree with this. I moved from at ATT S4 running KK to the S5 running 5.1.1. S4 ran fine but just a tad slow. So I figured I'd "upgrade". BTW, I'm as stock as one can be and have the same type of issues.

My girls phone came stock with fof6 and she couldn't deal with the non stop lag so I tried debloating it for her which didn't help, At that time I was running the sickness rom and happy. Later the fog6 came out and I told her Id update her phone clean with odin to it and do mine as well as I wanted the stagefright patched and hoped that since I was several radios behind I may get better signal at my house. After that we remained stock and within days it was not usable so I began debloating both phones, which didn't help. Shinys kernel was the only thing that helped but the lag out still occurs daily. I agree updating the phone is what caused the lag, but that's what people buy new phones for and update them, to stay current!
Let's hope that the bugs are worked out in 6.0. I believe samsung knows what to do with this phone if they are updating it. We all love touchwiz and deserve the same experience, newer device owners have. All I'm saying is be thankful, because if the Korean company was right about the prediction of 6.0, we wouldn't be receiving this update at all

AOSP rom for Surnia devices

Hi, I would ask if there is a very vanilla ROM (not CM), similar to stock, but without Google Apps

I'm pretty sure you could flash AOSP itself. It's stock, but theres no Google apps.

Hey @cmason37, thanks for posting this as I'm always searching for those elusive MM 'Stable' Roms I would like to try that rom, however, the above link has been disabled. If you could repost the link that would be excellent.
In the meantime I'll scrub the world wide web for this file, thanks

btw I wouldn't recommend it, I was trying it and it's preatty buggy and outdated. It doesn't have fm radio and it's using only bottom microphone for video recording (stock 6.0 uses both mics so there is stereo effect). It also doesn't support any new custom kernels because it wasn't updated for ages. The worst thing is that it slows down a lot after few days and you need to reboot. On stock 6.0 with squid kernel the performance drop wasn't that big, I was using it for 30 days without reboot and it was still pretty good.

I don't have any of those problems, except for msybe fm radio but I don't give a crap about that. But, I can flash squid kernel & I don't get performance drops often. So it's literally bug free for me. Maybe you should try flashing it again. After all, bad flashes happen.

My apologies you guys for not getting back earlier. I've been fumigating for bugs.
Those issues you were describing are the exact issues I'm dealing with today on my current ROM a popular CM based true to form option-heavy, stability-light ROM. This is a shame as its been fairly reliable platform for me. The occasional issue that was easily remedied with a reboot, a restore or a reflash. The past few months have been bug after bug for me. Mostly a pesky incompatibility issue with my ROM and OpenGapps.
Its seems all I've been doing lately is testing alternative gapp pkg sources, kernels and mods.
What makes this issue the real tops though is that the ROM I use was just listed as "Official" and "Stable" last month. There may be a weekly update waiting in the basket for me but the basket build server is down.
So....?
Not sure where to go from here. I'll tell you this much though. When I decided to try and root this device 8 months ago I had no idea it involved so much. I can almost write my own svripts, I'm understanding the bugreports I generate and read and i haven't spent this much time in a ToyBox since I was 9.
Lol. I'm not complaining though... I love to learn.
Oh and I still haven't tried the ROM you recommended as of yet. PC seems buggy now too.

Note pie should be here soon

Running it now, albeit the leaked beta for the note 8. With the polish that this build seems to have I would highly expect it within the first two months of 2019.
Overall, the UI is a huge change. But overall I seem to like it when paired with some of the android pie changes. It feels snappy and so far user friendly.
I am still a fan of the stock android (pie) ui but this is definitely my favorite OEM skin so far.
I hate the fact that the Snapdragons get betas and leaks, and then after the official streams kick in, Exynos is bombarded with releases and Snapdragons remain behind.

I agree, this build of Pie, and One UI feels very good. AR Emoji and Bixby Vision are broken, but I don't ever use those features so not a deal breaker. Adaptive Battery is included with this build, I'll be interested to see how battery life is affected by this feature. All in all a very nice change from Oreo.

It seems to be working for me as I have it set up. But I have yet to attempt a purchase with it so I can't 100% verify yet that nothing is broken
Yeah but who cares about snapdragon models, but good for them to get something..
Apparently, closed beta ONE UI for Note 8 Snapdragon is up already.

I have a T-Mobile Note8 that already got CRK1 and installed this update last night; it was working totally fine, except for any 'Sunset to Sunrise' time settings, that would turn off every time you turned the screen off. It seriously is a good upgrade from the stock Oreo UI; much more clean, unified, and snappier.
But this morning, I woke up to my phone basically soft bricked. It just sat charging last night, and now it just randomly vibrates here and there, and the lock screen just doesn't show. I can make it do things with adb, and the camera will launch, but otherwise, its basically useless. I would skip this build.. I still haven't found a solution but to download CRK1 and downgrade back, which I'm waiting for the download to finish now. Reinstalling this beta and clearing the system cache didn't do anything.
I have a theory to why sd gets leaks more than exynos. Countries like usa brand the phone heavily and perhaps need to test it more and earlier to push out the update. That's also why they get the update last..
Just my 2 cents opinion

Can you let me know if this is an update or will it be a clean install. Can I use it with any carrier.

Just a quick update on this: the phone was actually working fine like that on the beta, it's just that my Good Lock's LockStar wasn't working; this happened again when I updated to DRL6, but I adb installed the new LockStar to get it to work again.
Official Pie in March.
Tried to install it on Snapdragon 950U1 but gave me error bc of firmware name or something like that.

You'll need to odin the T Mobile 5CRK1, first, then flash the Pie update zip.
